Unfortunately the pillows were soft and flat. My husband eventually used the couch cushions to try and get some sleep. We did make a plan. The water pump, outside our room door, was very noisy. Late into the evening it was disturbing, when people were using water. Maybe the pumps bearing need servicing.

We had a problem with showering, because there was no hot water coming out of the shower taps. The panel heater in the room was not providing enough heat.

Reviewed Apr 13, 2026A lovely room with everything you could need for a one night's stay. Very calm and quiet for the most part. Easy access and exit. Good facilities.
Where points were lost is noise. The walls are very thin so I could hear my neighbours' conversations and sneezes. The system they use to fill up their water tanks after use is a shock especially if you don't know it's coming. Very loud and goes against the calmness the whole place.

In the summer months it is hot so a ceiling fan would have been better as the floor standing one was very noisy. The TV did not have a remote so it was difficult to switch it off.

Beautiful and peaceful farmhouse environment. Room was clean and peaceful with a king size bed. The wooden base not ideal… a bit loose ( not connected to the headboard ) thus creaky from just sitting on it. A proper mattress base would work better.

Reviewed Jun 30, 2025Our stay at Thatchings was simply idyllic - from the beautiful scenery, wildlife, kids play area (which our 2 year old girl thoroughly enjoyed), picturesque gardens, to the fresh country air, starry nights and the most friendly, adorable cats. Breakfast was also superb and gave us the perfect start to the day - a delicious spread of biscuits, rusks, jams, cereals, fruit, yoghurt, juices and the most yummy hot breakfast - which we worked off with a leisurely stroll through the estate, down to the dam! The staff were bubbly and enthusiatic too and the owners were quick to assist and a pleasure to deal with. All in all, we will definitely be back!
