Reviewed Apr 8, 2026Fabulous house in a stunningly beautiful rural setting in the KZN Midlands. An older house with loads of character and beautiful furniture. Very comfortable and we were disappointed not to be staying for longer - next time. Really scrumptious breakfast !

Reviewed Feb 13, 2026What an amazing little slice of heaven in midlands. So easily accessible and homey, from the moment we arrived and was met by Ryan, you cannot help but feel welcome. From beautiful furnishings and quaint decor, to the ridiculously comfortable beds, everything about the Farside was beyond what we had hoped. The breakfast delicious and the honesty bar and ready made meals for the times you didn't feel like going out for dinner was really convenient. The restaurants in the area were also so worth the visit. With the little added fun from the pool table and darts board and the large fireplace, we will definitely be back in winter when there's a roaring fire in the hearth.

One thing I would suggest is to possibly have a small bar fridge or smaller drinks fridge to just to keep drinks cold or what ever a guest might need to keep cool .

Reviewed Oct 18, 2025If a country getaway with peace and quiet and country hospitality with all the creature comforts is what you are looking for then this is THE place. Ryan and his team are exceptional hosts, and the house is perfect for a getaway. We're just sorry that we only get to overnight here as it feels as if we are abusing a privilege. Breakfast is cooked to order with all the trimmings, and the bread and coffee are really good. I have no hesitation in giving The Far Side Country Manor full marks. We will always use this as our new Midlands base. Perfectly positioned.

Reviewed Sep 11, 2025The photo's on the website do not do it justice. Our room was big, beautifully decorated, had stunning views of the countryside and dams. Lovely windows across the whole side wall and a free standing bath with views. I felt like a queen. Ryan was very friendly and helpful and Albem the chef was accommodating to our needs of having to leave early and was cheerful. I enjoyed the evening in the lounge by the fire listing to relaxing music and looking through the coffee books after having a delicious dinner at Fordoun. Would highly recommend staying at the Farside Country Manor.
I would suggest putting a blind of sorts on the window of the door, I like a very dark room.

The large lounge with fireplace and cats , honesty bar and beautiful selection of antique furniture, photography coffee table books made it feel very elite but homely. Breakfast was lovely cooked for us by chef abel and his famous sour dough bread. lovely fresh local ingredients. The ball and claw bath was a special treat
