Nice comfortable stay at this well located guest house. Enjoyed a lovely walk into Chester 15 mins and you’re there. Good breakfast and comfortable bed.

Hayley and John were excellent hosts. Their attention to detail was superb. The welcome book in the room was incredibly detailed and very helpful when planning trips. They catered for all dietary needs and the choice for breakfast was second to none. The full English breakfast was the best. Our room was very clean and well maintained. Had a wonderful stay at Glen Garth. John an Hayley were very warm and welcoming. Gave us tips about places to visit in Chester. Great to have the bus stop just right outside the guest house if you have problems walking into the city. It is not too far to walk but my husband had a bad back so taking the bus is the option. We wish John and Hayley all the best in their future undertakings.

Made a late decision to spend a couple of days in Chester and Glen Garth proved to be perfect for us. Checked in quickly with some great tips about how to get into the city and where to eat locally. 20 minute walk to the city centre along the canal (past a couple of nice pubs!). Great breakfast the next morning and a friendly chat with the owners followed by an easy 8 minute drive to the zoo.

The owners of this guest house are so friendly and welcoming and go far beyond any other places that we have stayed truly deserve the best in everything Thier do the rooms are so clean and comfy home from home and brekkie was awesome well done to you both

Hayley and John provided such a warm welcome, and a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere during my stay. Despite having travelled for work it felt like being on holiday and I was grateful for a lovely room, tasty breakfasts and a peaceful place to rest each evening. I wish them every success with their future in Wales and know the new place on Ynys Môn will be very much worth the trip!

Lovely guest house with friendly and helpful hosts. Good sized rooms and good pressure in shower. Great location, shops, pubs and restaurants round the corner and bus stop to centre at front door or a 15 minute walk. Very nice cooked breakfast too. Would definitely recommend.

We were given great instructions for the parking, the room was lovely, we had a lovely warm welcome, it was quiet and the breakfast was amazing. I had made and error with the booking and had accidentally put a baby instead of a child but when we arrived they quickly changed the cot over to a bed!

Received a wonderful welcome from the owner. My room was lovely, with a very comfy bed and thoughtful extras (like the bathrobe, iron and board), and my private bathroom was spotless, with a great shower. At breakfast there was plenty of everything, and the freshly cooked 'English' was spot-on!

The hosts were lovely and always there if I needed anything from them. The breakfast was brilliant and fuelled me for the busy week I had. I slept very well and the room was spotless and tidy. I would definitely stay again!

We were welcomed by both Hayley and John. The house is within walking distance of Chester centre and has many shops, pubs and places to eat close by. The room was comfortable and had all we needed. John cooked us a tasty breakfast in the morning. Both Hayley and John were warm, friendly and very helpful.

The b&b was great the host was so lovely and made us feel at home great food and great location.

Lovely and clean , easy to find , car parking was easy enough after Hayley showed us the way around the back, room was so comfy, we had a separate bathroom , so husband got confused and got a little lost, but easy sorted. Breakfast you were spoilt for choice absolutely amazing. Thank you Hayley for sorting the single to a double bedroom without hassle . Definitely would recommend.

Lovely traditional b&b, friendly outgoing owners always on hand, none of this nonsense of absentee owners and keycases, great breakfasts. Hoole is a community of its own with good shops and restaurants, about 20 minutes walk from the centre of Chester.

Only the fact that in September they are selling up and moving to Anglesey. There is an associated b&b called Ba ba in the same terrace.

Parking, location - pubs, restaurants, shops (including Sainsbury’s convenience store, very handy. Friendly, chatty owners. Great breakfast, lovely fluffy dressing gown, basin in room, as had separate bathroom (which was immaculate) kettle with tea and coffee etc.

All brilliant. Bear in mind, this is a family business, understandably they like to have an idea of time of arrival, a bit tricky if unsure of events/traffic etc. However, kept them informed and were there to greet me, Arrival before 9pm I think is preferable, I’m sure self check in is an option.

Great spot - 15 min walk to Old Chester.

This is one of the loveliest B&B’s we have ever stayed in! I booked our stay through booking.com and couldn’t access my messages on my account, I went on to the owners personal website where I found a phone number to contact the owners Hayley and John. Right from the first message I knew we were going to enjoy our stay here, the responses were so warm and friendly. I had noted on the booking that we were staying for my partners 40th birthday and instantly the room I had booked was upgraded which was so kind. We also booked parking. We arrived at the guest house at around 5:30pm on the Friday evening and were instantly met by Hayley who welcomed us with a big smile and showed us where to park. Check in was easy and Hayley was full of knowledge of the local areas and advised us where to go and what to do. We had initially booked a restaurant in the city centre but changed our mind and booked the local Italian (Made in Italy) after reading Hayley and Johns recommendations on the Glen Garth website. We did not regret our decision the food was beautiful and reasonably priced (£51 for two meals and four alcoholic drinks) the atmosphere in the restaurant was lively which was great for us but if you were looking for a more quiet intimate experience I’d suggest trying one of the many other restaurants on the road. We booked breakfast for 8:30am the following morning and when we entered the dining room we were again met by Hayley who showed us where everything was to help ourself (toast, cereal, fruit, yoghurts and drinks) there was a vast selection available. After a few minutes our hot food order was taken, two breakfasts came out promptly and were absolutely delicious. Thank you John! Hayley and John were friendly and chatted to us throughout breakfast nothing was too much trouble. We went and got ready in our room which was beautiful, and had everything we needed from tea and coffee to an iron and ironing board! The room was spotless and beds so comfy. I do recommend having a flick through the book which is there with all the information you need for the hotel wifi etc and all the local bus times. It also has a page with the history of how the Glen Garth became a b&b and how Hayley and John come to run it was a lovely little read and nice to know the family history. We went off to the races for the day, we opted to jump on a bus to town so we could have a quick drink and then walked up to the Racecourse. The bus stop is right outside the front door and cost £6 for both of us. This could easily have been walked in 25-30mins which we originally planned to do but ran late as we made the mistake of sitting down in the room and getting too comfortable to move! After a great day at the Races we again walked into the city centre had a few drinks and got a taxi back to the guest house which again cost £6 which is more than reasonable. We had a few drinks that evening and knew we wouldn’t be up for breakfast so I popped a quick text to Hayley and John to let them know and again the response was fast and friendly (sorry John we would have loved another one of you’re lovely breakfasts but the lie in won after a few to many beers haha) Check out the next morning was at 10:30am and was again a pleasant process. We bumped into Hayley and John on the landing and again spent more time talking like we had known them for years not days. Glen Garth is like home from home, one of the best experiences we have had staying in a guest house. We are planning another few race days and I really hope we can stay here again. Thank you so much for a lovely weekend and all of the kindness you have showed us. Hayley and John are awesome! Glen Garth is such a sweet place. Right from the get go, after our booking online, we received a personal email from Hayley and John. It didn't stop there, they were great at communicating with us. We'd come in to travel to Liverpool for the trophy parade and we were able to park our car at the guest house a few hours before our check in. The room was warm, inviting, clean and cosy. There were a few other guests but we didn't notice and it felt like we were their personal guests. We received a lovely, warm welcome when we came down for breakfast and the breakfast was very tasty and there was plenty to eat - the cooked breakfast being personally prepared by John. The guest house is close to the city centre too being about a 10mins walk from the train station. We couldn't have had a more lovely experience. We would highly recommend to anyone looking for a lovely, personal and warm stay.

The room was very spacious, clean with plenty seating areas to relax in. Both hosts were so welcoming and made sure we didn’t want for anything. The breakfast was amazing, perfect start to the day. Location was a 15 minute walk to Chester center, where there is so much to do.

The host was extremely friendly and helpful. They know what they are doing and being the standard of B&B in the area. The location is near lot of places and get many things to do. Room is clean tidy and simple but fully smart functional.

The breakfast was an absolute delight, freshly prepared and the porridge is simply delicious. What makes this bed and breakfast really special are the hosts themselves. They were always on hand to give tips for excursions and made us feel like we were not just guests but friends. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay.

Wonderful family run hotel. Cosy, stylish atmosphere. Great breakfast. Everything was spotless.

Proprietors were very friendly and knowledgeable, very keen to help. Very well run business.

Floorboards very noisy not only in our room but adjoining and upstairs rooms too, every sound could be heard. Probably couldn’t be helped because of the age of the house.

The guest house was in a great area, very close to the railway station and to the city centre. The room was plenty big with a good shower and tv, and the owners (who were very nice) did a great breakfast. Also there is a little high street around the corner with restaurants and good pubs.

This is one of the loveliest guest houses I’ve ever stayed in. Hosts are warm and generous, lovely breakfast, comfy bedrooms (and really they’ve thought of everything). Travel iron in every room hairdryer, make up wipes, tissues, tea and biscuits, a spare blanket, and a comfy bathrobe. Beds are comfy, with a lovely heavy duvet and full feeling pillows. They even recommended a running route for me. Also, as a side note, external bathroom is not a downgrade but in fact a luxury. I stayed in both rooms with external bathroom (1 and 4) and they could not have been better (especially 4). Stunning bathroom with a great shower and complimentary shampoo/body wash and moisturiser on the basins. I would stay here again for sure if I’m ever back in Chester (actually thinking about planning a trip with my husband just to come back here!). I absolutely would have no notes for this stunning place. My only note is to myself - bring your own conditioner if you like to use that in the shower! Also, if you like dogs, they have the sweetest standard poodle you’ll ever meet.

Hayley and John are lovely hosts and their breakfast is excellent! We like the location as we’ve stayed at another property on the same road which is just on the outskirts in Hoole, so just a short 10 min walk into the city of Chester, also passing a good selection of lovely shops and restaurants/pubs on Faulkner Street which is just 5 mins away from the property.

The room came with an external bathroom which we have booked this option before at another property but we initially struggled to unlock the bathroom door, particularly in the middle of the night having to use the bathroom more than once, possibly disturbing other guests staying. We made the decision to keep the bathroom door unlocked whilst in the property.

Really comfortable place with lovely owners

Very good location, and Hayley and John were extremely helpful, communicative, and pleasant to deal with! We were travelling a long distance to get to Chester and as our ETA got delayed until late evening, the hosts were very accommodating and able to arrange a self check-in which was extremely convenient! Check-out was at 10:30 and breakfast was served 08:00-09:00 so we were quite tired in the morning but it was a very nice place to stay.
