Reviewed Sep 2, 2026Die Unterkunft bietet ein voll ausgestattetes Apartment mit 2 Zimmern und 2 Bäder, sowie einer Küche. Leckeres und abwechslungsreiches Frühstück wird bei gutem Wetter auf der Terrasse angeboten. Sichere Gegend sodass man abends zu Fuß in den Ortskern gelangen kann.
Das einzige was ich störend fand, war die Beleuchtung mit Leuchtstoffröhren im Schlafzimmer und der Küche wenn man mal helleres Licht braucht ist einfach nicht mehr zeitgemäß. Da aber auch andere Lampen da waren ist das nicht wirklich ein Problem.

Das liegt vor allem an der Gastgeberin Mercia, die das Haus mit einer unglaublichen Herzlichkeit führt. Sie ist extrem aufmerksam und sorgt mit ihrer gastfreundlichen Art dafür, dass man sich sofort willkommen fühlt. Auch das frische, abwechslungsreiche Frühstück bereitet sie jeden Morgen fantastisch zu.Das Anwesen liegt sehr ruhig mit einem schönen Blick auf die Berge, während das Ortszentrum bequem erreichbar bleibt. Die Zimmer überzeugen ebenfalls: Jedes ist mit unheimlich viel Liebe eingerichtet, geschmackvoll gestaltet und makellos sauber. Eine uneingeschränkte Empfehlung für einen Aufenthalt in Clarens!

Reviewed May 28, 2026We only stayed one night as we were passing through Clarens. The cozy fire did wonders as the weather turned pretty cold that night. We started our day with a lovely breakfast and then headed out. Mercia was also really hospitable and made us feel right at home.

Reviewed Apr 23, 2026We had by far the most outstanding stay here during our South Africa road trip! The accommodation is very cozy, and the host, Mercia, is incredibly kind and welcoming. We were greeted with homemade cookies and some great restaurant recommendations nearby. We had a lovely evening both out and later back at the apartment, enjoying the delicious complimentary cherry drink along with some wine we had brought. Breakfast was fantastic, featuring fresh fruit, Greek yogurt, and very tasty mieliepap. We truly hope to return someday. Thank you, Mercia and team!

Reviewed Nov 8, 2025We were in the suite, and being a couple, we had a choice bedrooms, bathrooms, etc. Both were furnished to a very high standard with large, comfortable beds. We opted for the one with the largest bed, which had an electric blanket, and was greatly appreciated as it can get quite cool in the evenings. The fixtures and fittings reflected Mercia's artistic taste, and the attention to detail was exceptional. Both bathrooms have a bath and shower and no shortage of space. There was more than enough room in the wardrobe for all of our clothes. It was also nice not to have television and enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the place. Mercia recommended several local places to visit. The highlight for us was the Highland Brew restaurant, with its magnificent setting, super friendly staff, and chef. Try the Bramble Berry Gin if it's still available. Mercia reminded us of a friend in Wales, who is also very artistic and surprisingly similar in appearance and mannerisms. She is also a fabulous cook, and her food presentation is outstanding, just like Mercia's. The cookies and fudge in the suite were superb, and we made sure to order some along with her excellent biscotti.
In Clarens there is really only one tarred road, the main street, and almost every other is a dirt road. The one to the accommodation is only a few hundred yards, but we just aren't fans of dirt roads. The parking area can take 3 cars, but it could be a tight squeeze depending on what you drive. There was only one other car when we were there, so it wasn't a problem. It would be nice if the security gate was motorised, as being elderly, getting in and out to open and close the gate can be tiresome.

Reviewed Oct 23, 2025Where to start? We cannot say enough to do justice to this beautiful B&B in Clarens. We were greeted by our very welcoming and warm host, Mercia. Our accommodation was extremely comfortable and the decor, really exquisite...very tastefully furnished. The breakfasts were so delicious and different to what one would normally be offered...filling and scrumptious! Our host also left some huge, homemade biscuits, as well as fudge for us. The kitchen was equipped with everything we could possibly need. "Honeysuckle Clarens" is so close to the centre square, that one can walk to restaurants or unique shops as it is very safe. "Home from home" is exactly what we felt. Thank you, Mercia. We will be returning as soon as possible. Sending our best.

Our cottage was beautifully decorated, beds very comfortable, there is heating for the colder nights. breakfast is superb (not the standard breakfast you get at most places). Don’t hesitate to book, you won’t be disappointed. There is a lot do do in and around Clarens so booking 1 night is too little. Very quiet en safe neighbourhood but walking distance from the centre of the village. Safe parking.
