The Canalview Retreat

David was an excellent host!

Beautifully positioned on the canal in easy reach of the city. Host was lovely. Room feels like a home away from home.

Lovely spot watching the boats go by in the canal. Had everything we needed, was tidy, quiet at night, walkable, and perfect for the two of us. Couldn't have asked for more.

We stayed at Canal View Treatment in Amsterdam and it was truly the best choice for our three-day trip. The apartment is right by the canal and offers beautiful views that you can enjoy. It has all the amenities you need for a short stay — it was spotlessly clean, very well equipped, and made us feel completely at home. The location is ideal: close to the city center so you can walk everywhere, yet on a quiet street away from the hustle and bustle. There are supermarkets and anything else you might need just around the corner. Finally, the owners and David were extremely kind and helpful, making us feel very welcome throughout our stay. We wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone planning a trip to Amsterdam!

Nothing

Excellent location & view. Great service. Property owners were friendly.

It was exceptionally warm during our stay but we had a fan. Be mindful of mosquitoes if windows are left open.

Everything about this apartment exceeded our expectations. It was large, super clean,, great location and a comfortable bed, and a great view. David our host was excellent, with great communication, and greeted us on arrival to help carry up our luggage.

Nothing

Beautiful apartment, great location, host was very friendly and responsive. Host helped take luggage up stairs.

Very steep stairs could be tricky to navigate if not physically strong.

Great location in a quiet and comfortable area along one of the canals. Hosts were very accommodating and responsive to our needs. A fun little bar/cafe just a few steps away and tram #4 stop also close by. The room was large, modern and full of light. We also appreciated the free wifi, smart TV and the nespresso coffee maker which David made sure we were well stocked up with the required coffee pods

Well the stairs were steep but this was all disclosed before we confirmed booking so it was not a surprise.

The location was excellent. We could walk everywhere. Loved being on the canal to experience living in a traditional house. David the host was great and carried our luggage up the 2 flights of steep stairs. We definitely would have struggled but were aware of this beforehand.

The family lives on the floors above so you could hear them walking and moving things around early in the mornings and then between 10 to 11pm also at 1am one night. The bed was quite soft which is OK if you like a soft bed. Could do with some shelves on the bathroom wall. It only has a shower, not a bath tub. We were happy to accept the above for the experience.

The Canalview Retreat Apartment is in a great location right on the canal, easy to find and accessible by tram. The apartment was clean, well appointed, spacious and in a peaceful neighborhood. David met us, showed us around the apartment and even brought the luggage up the narrow stairs! Thank you for sharing this home with us!

Everything was great and our only recommendation would be to add a shelf in the shower to hold shampoo and soap

Location is great!

Could use a convenient place in the shower for soap, shampoo, etc. Advertising should be very clear that the stairs may not be appropriate for seniors or people with physical limitations.

David was very accommodating- suggested early check in since we had traveled all night He greeted us at the door and graciously carried our bags up the steep stairs The highlight for us was having breakfast at the table overlooking the canal as the boats went by.

The apartment was spacious and quite lovely, overlooking the Prinsengracht canal. Quiet and with all the amenities of home. Lots of light , tastefully furnished. Hosts were very responsive and supportive.

We would have preferred one quilt on the bed instead of two separate small. Quilts.

Space in the bedroom and the fantastic view on the canal below. Very serene just sitting at the window and watching on an afternoon out stop, watching the boats go by. David’s friendliness. Location on a relatively quiet street.

Not much to say. Liked it all!

The location was impeccable, especially as we had a clear view of the Pride parade from our window! We were able to walk everywhere in the city centre. It was nice to have a home-like space in the city. David was an incredible host and he stayed in touch during our entire stay.

Everything was great.

Great view, safe, and clean

Nothing

Lovely, nicely decorated, good quality apartment, light-filled & with view over canal on one side & gardens on the other. You can sit & relax at the window & watch the tour boats going by. Great location, handy for shops, food, tram. Professional host David is very friendly & helpful, proactive, carries your luggage up extremely steep staircase & keeps in touch to check how you're going, if you need anything. (The stairs are carpeted & have handrails so we didn't find them a problem.)

The bathroom is modern but 'cosy', lacking anywhere to hang towels. The shower is very good but the water runs away from the drain & tends to flood the floor. It would be helpful if there was a drying rack for hand-washing.

Beautiful place to stay! Close to everything and what a view of the canal out the window!

Spacious,clean,well equipped,nice view,comfortable beds,beautiful location,fantastic friendly accommodating owners!! Thankyou so so much!!

Loved the table at the window overlooking the canal and absolutely loved the neighborhood. Great cheese shop and deli around the corner. Good kitchen and a lovely view of private small gardens in the back. I also loved experiencing the steep stairs of Amsterdam. Good handrails!

The bathroom was the smallest on our trip, but totally understand the need for efficient layout in these beautiful small old homes. The front door key was tricky to open. But once we figured out how to do it it worked ok.

Perfect flat, perfect location.

It was very clean, spacious, centrally located, private, well stocked and tastefully designed. The views and light are wonderful. It is walking distance to everything.

One flight of steep stairs, but David helped with our bags. It was no problem for us, but would not recommend for those with mobility issues.

Very bright and well equipped. Host was extremely welcoming and helpful throughout our stay.

Nothing.

Location was amazing as we were close to quite a lot of great restaurants within 5/10 minutes walking and it was a fantastic apartment.

Unfortunately there was a fair bit of noise quite late at night from the flat above on our last night when we had to be up at 4am.

The location of this apartment was perfect for our stay. We really enjoyed the boutique shops and the many cafes and restaurants nearby. Also, really enjoyed sitting at the window watching the boats glide by on the canal. Special mention for David, our host. He was fabulous. :-)

had the most incredible 4 days vacation in Amsterdam. The place exuded classic elegance with its stunning design, and the canal view was simply breathtaking. Our host David was exceptional, ensuring our stay was perfect in every way. The location couldn’t have been better, making it a truly memorable experience

Nothing really, the shower is a bit small but it was great for us.

Great location.

It was perfect. They only thing that was less than perfect was the narrow staircase. But, that is the result of being a historic building and part of the charm.

We could not get a/c to work so we slept with the windows open. It was a little warm still at night which made it difficult to go to sleep, but we didn’t have any really early plans. The location was lovely, right on the canal. The apartment was delightful, so old world European and modernized so nicely

Great location right on the canal. Ideal for walking to just about everything .

location is great. The flat is very nice very clean and equipped with all the necessary supplies.

The apartment was very well equipped and comfortable. The location is superb - right near a tram stop allowing easy access to the main train station etc., and within walking distance of many of Amsterdam's main attractions

The staircase is very narrow and steep but we knew of this in advance.

the canalview was the highlight of the apartment. it was clean, comfortable and perfect location. David the host was awesome!

Fantastic location in the center of the city and yet still a quiet retreat. We had no need for public transportation--can walk to everything! Wonderful window to the canal, with dark curtains so that you can also sleep in. Well-stocked kitchen amenities. A block away from Albert Heijn, so getting groceries is also easy. Near some bakeries and cafes as well as a very nice Indonesian restaurant. Loved that this place was away from the crowds and most tourists.

We liked everything! Stairs are steep and bathroom is smallish (but new and clean)--that is part of Amsterdam.

Stylish studio and location that felt like you were at the epicentre of the city.

Stairs up to the first floor apartment were not for the feint-hearted but would be typical for any of the historic, narrow canal-side properties.

lovely accommodations in a super convenient spot. comfortable, spacious and well stocked.

location could be a little loud but that can’t be avoided. some light mot like the stairs but I loved them

Very lovely apartment in an excellent location. The bed was comfortable and we slept very well. The area is very quiet at night, which is good because these old historic buildings can be quite loud with single pane windows and thin floor/ceilings. I would not hesitate to stay here again. We felt like locals living here. And David, the apartment caretaker, could not have been friendlier, more helpful with suggestions, or more responsive.

The bathroom is small. It worked fine for us, but if you require a lot of space to move around in the bathroom for whatever reason this isn't the place for you. It is a quiet street and the upstairs and downstairs neighbors are very respectful, but noise does travel into the apartment. For instance, there was construction going on next door which was quite loud during the daytime while we were there.

We liked the position of the property, wonderful watching the boats going by on the canal from the apartment window, and a peaceful view from the rear window. very well equipped property, with comfortable bed, seating area and good shower room. lots of cafes , restaurants, supermarket an easy walk away. we hired bikes from tge nearby bike shop and enjoyed exploring the city and taking the free ferry across to north Amsterdam and riding out into the countryside.

Nothing, but as is mentioned the stairs are very steep, typical of Dutch town houses, David the very helpful property manager, helped with our suitcases.

Location was amazing on the Prinsengracht Canal, David our host was a ripper, very helpful and chatty about Amsterdam. Facilities once you got up there were excellent, nice and spacious with most mod cons. Tram stop virtually next door, although we walked a lot as well. Close to neighbourhood supermarkets, cafes and bars.

Very narrow winding staircase, no problem if you're fit and have a reasonable weight footprint. Those on the heavier side would struggle, so keep that in mind. Gas Stove was shut down due to regulations. However we did have a microwave and and Oven.

Great location: Tram 4 is a 1-2 minute walk away which goes to Centraal Station, only a 10-minute ride. Very clean & modern apartment, with full kitchen facilities, appliances, etc.; bathroom clean; very comfortable bed, pillows & duvet. David & wife Catta very accommodating.

Nothing comes to mind. Everything met or exceeded our expectations.

Hidden gem in a beautiful part of Amsterdam! Felt like a local living in the same building as the owner and their family. We loved the view of the canal and the beautiful historical architecture! David was very welcoming and helped us with the check-in and making sure we had everything we needed during our stay.

None. it was a perfect stay!

First trip to Amsterdam and this was a most perfect location overlooking one of the canals. David, the host, was super helpful keeping in touch as we arrived and giving brilliant tips and suggestions. The accommodation was great as a base to explore the city and markets and on a tram line and cycling nearby. The apartment was of a high specification throughout and everything included, bed was comfortable and touches like a Nespresso coffee machine and plenty of towels and toiletries was appreciated. Would definitely recommend this property.

As it was extremely hot we thought no air conditioning could have been an issue, but there was a fan provided, and we left curtains closed during the day, when we returned opened the windows and had the breeze from the canal it was not a problem at all. Please do not be concerned when booking if air conditioning is important to you!

Location on the canal is amazing, host David was so helpful at checkin & checkout & in between, comfortable bed, terrific facilities for eating, cooking & relaxing, blockout curtains, looking out onto the canal & ease of directions to find the apartment after a long trip from Australia we’re great.

Everything was great - if anything the only challenge was the staircase into the apartment with heavy cases but David helped us so it was fine.

Everything was just perfect. The host treated us so kindly from the minute we checked in, during our stay and during our check out. The place was tidy! There was a lot of space and the location is prime!

Noting, everything was perfect.
