Everything was perfect. They are also two adorable little dogs who are very friendly.

It’s an amazing property, the hosts are too sweet. And it’s right near the beach as well.

Lovely clean and spacious rooms. Really friendly staff who are welcoming. Set in a nice surrounding and only a few minutes walk to the beach. Good breakfast and very accommodating.

Everyone was super nice, the room was clean, the breakfast delicious and the accomodation within 3 Minutes of jungle beach (which was also very beautiful).

Sitio de 10, un alojamiento precioso, nos dieron un zumo y pastelitos caseros de bienvenida, la piscina es increíble y el jardín también, la habitación super limpia y bien decorada, los desayunos riquísimos y las mujeres que trabajan allí son súper cariñosas y atentas. Les comentamos que queríamos alquilar una scooter y llamaron a alguien y nos trajeron la scooter a la puerta para 2 días. También alargamos un poco el check out porque teníamos el tren a las 14h y nos dejaron estar sin problema. Por no hablar del precio! Que es muy económico El mejor sitio en el que he estado en Sri Lanka! Ojalá volver. Además su perrita es genial🥰 * Tiene la playa a 4 minutos andando y la estación de tren a 10 minutos

The property is stunning. The garden and the rooms are so pretty. The food was excellent, especially the scones! Very close to the secret beach which is almost empty. Their dog Sadie is so cute. The staff so sweet. Will definitely go back.

Die schönste Unterkunft in der wir übernachteten. Das Anwesen ist wundervoll und toll gepflegt. Das Badezimmer ist eines der luxiriösesten, dass wir hatten. Es gab sogar täglichen Room Service. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Der Pool war ein echtes Highlight und die Gastgeberinnen besonders zuvorkommend. Wie können die Unterkunft sehr empfehlen!

Die Lage ist etwas außerhalb. Das haben wir aber bewusst so gewählt. Zu dem Strand nahe des Hotels sind es nur 4 Min. zu Fuß ;)

Alles. Frühstück war top. Es war wie im Paradies und die Angestellten sind so liebenswert! Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder.

Tout était parfait, à commencer par l’accueil, le lieu, la propreté, le service, les repas. Nous avons mangé les deux soirs de suite à la guest House tout était divin 😀🤩. Peut coin de paradis avec une belle piscine pour se détendre des escapades de la journée🙏. Guest House composée de seulement deux chambres, aussi exclusivité de la piscine si vous avez la même chance que nous 😅

De ne pas avoir chois d’y rester plus longtemps 😉

1) Staff. The staff is the true heart of this villa. Anke, Malka and Surika were incredibly hospitable, friendly and caring. Special thanks to Malka and Surika for the delicious breakfasts, their smiles and all the care ❤️ And thank you to Anke for the lovely conversations! From the very first moments we felt at home, and we even extended our stay until the end of our vacation. When we arrived, our room was already cooled down, and we were welcomed with tasty tea and sweets. On our departure day, we were leaving at 4 AM, the ladies kindly packed breakfast for us. 2) The Villa itself. You can really see how much love and effort has been put into this place. The territory is not huge, but it’s like a little piece of heaven. The photos on Booking are outdated. Now there’s a pool, two sun-beds with umbrellas, and lots and lots of beautiful greenery all around. At the entrance there is an outdoor shower and a tap for feet washing — very convenient when you’re coming back from the beach (which is only a 3 minute walk). There are 4 turtles living next to the shower, and we also spotted monkeys and chipmunks. 3) The Room. Very well thought out. Before this villa we stayed in three other places, so we had plenty to compare it with. * There are universal sockets, so no adapter was needed. * A new fan and air conditioner, both very quiet. * A mini-fridge with a jug of colled water prepared for us ❤️ * Three towels per person + beach towels! * Daily cleaning, no need to ask. * A bathroom scale. * A safe. * Lots of clothes hangers — and good ones, all matching 😁 Usually we only got random old plastic ones. * A shaving mirror above the sink, and the main mirror was full-wall in the bathroom. * On the bed there was a blanket, not just a thin sheet like most places in Sri Lanka. Yes, the climate allows you to sleep under a sheet, but at night we used the fan and it got pleasantly cool. 4) Location. The villa is a bit outside the center of Weligama.

It's hard to point out any real downsides, but if we'd really nitpick: * The room has no window. Not really a downside (it's still bright enough), it's just an interesting architectural choice 😁 * There is no door between the room and the bathroom, so from time to time one of us would take a walk in the garden while the other was doing their business inside. None of this spoiled our stay in any way.

Die Unterkunft ist wirklich traumhaft. Das Personal ist super freundlich und hilft schnell weiter. Uns hat besonders gefallen, dass die Unterkunft modern ausgestattet und sauber war. Absolute Empfehlung.

Wat een parel! Alles is zo goed verzorgd. Echt geweldig😍 De ontvangst en de dames zijn super, de kamer is prachtig en het zwembad is heerlijk. Het ligt wel net iets buiten Welligama, dus handig als je eigen vervoer hebt.

Peaceful little paradise. We loved our time here. Beautiful garden and pool. Very sweet staff that makes you feel at home. Every morning homemade breakfast like fresh baked scones, banana bread, cookies and eggs. Perfect place for our family to land at the beginning of our Sri Lanka adventure!

The room felt a bit dark because there is no windows in it. There was some noise of construction or music most evenings at the neighbours. Because we have a little one it was a bit disturbing at times.

A very special place to stay This is a truly unique accommodation, located a little outside the city center – but easily reachable by tuk-tuk. We had our own tuk-tuk, so for us it was absolutely perfect and the ideal spot to relax. The hotel only has three rooms, so if one is available don’t hesitate, book it right away! A real highlight for us was the pool, surrounded by lush tropical plants – it felt like being in the jungle. The staff was incredibly attentive, really listened to us, and gave us amazing tips for the rest of our journey. A big thank you again to everyone there!

The water pressure in the shower was unfortunately quite low

Very good place, room is comfortable and clean 👍 Breakfast is amazing with many things to choose from. We had a electricity-power problems (as the owner said in whole neighbourhood) for one day, but the host is really polite and thoughtful, even gave us discount ‘cause of the inconvenience. For visiting Welligama you’ll need a tuktuk, or take a 20mins walk.

If I could rate South House more than a 10 I would. I have been incredibly fortunate to stay in some wonderful places on my trip through Sri Lanka. When I arrived in weligama, I did not like my hotel. I quickly moved to South House which actually cost less for an indescribably superior stay. I could not believe it was available! I was welcomed so warmly by Anke with fresh tea and home made cake. South House is a tranquil oasis a short walk from the peaceful and beautiful jungle beach. The pictures of South House do not do it justice - it is even more beautiful and made extra special by Anke, Malka and the team who will treat you like you are family. Everything has been thought of here and it is a truly wonderful relaxing experience. The food is amazing, Malka’s cooking is exceptional - do stay for dinner at least once, you will not be disappointed! I enjoyed hearing about Anke’s own travels and journey to South House. Glenn and Fiona you have created something very special here and I would love to return and will recommend to all of my friends! Thank you all so very much

The team were very friendly and the location was perfect for what I needed it for. They offer a generous breakfast that’s included.

The communal areas were taken over by another set of guests with a young child, and I didn’t feel comfortable being in the accommodation very much. It was loud in the morning with my room being next to the kitchen and also with the family next door.

Everything! The host, breakfast, location, pool, estetics. It’s very peaceful and relaxing. You should definetly order curry for dinner as they prepare the best one ever!

Wifi is a bit slow and door at bathroom would be nice.

This property is perfection. The building, garden, and pool are absolutely stunning. The rooms are spacious, beds are comfortable, and the breakfast is delicious. They will also make lunch or dinner if requested (both are very good). We would recommend having dinner at the property at least once. You can get a tuk tuk into town for 500 rps. We had a lovely tuk tuk driver who was very careful and trustworthy. His number is +94 776605679. But the best part of all is the lovely staff. They are an absolute delight and we felt very lucky to be looked after by such wonderful people. We spent several hours during our stay talking with Anka who is such an interesting person and we feel very privileged to have met her. Glenn and Fiona (the Owners) were responsive and helpful as always. Thank you for an unforgettable stay. We will be returning as often as we can.

Beautiful oasis just on the outskirts of Weligama. Room, pool and garden were stunning. Lovely staff with great breakfast. We only had one night there and wish we could have stayed longer.

Beautiful property with just the 2 rooms available. So comfortable and everything you could possibly want. Spotless wonderful bed linen and towels. Lovely breakfast and plenty of food. Aneke and team are just wonderful so welcoming and attentive. We had a must enjoyable stay for 2 nights and will certainly stay again if we go back to Weligama.

There is absolutely nothing to dislike. One point to note it is the far side of the bay so a bit remote from the main bars and restaurants. However a 10 minute tuk tuk ride will bring you there.

Unfortunately it was raining all night and the drains near the road to this beautiful place were blocked and bit muddy.

We had a lovely stay at South House being looked after so well by Anke and her team. This was our treat to ourselves at the end of our time in Sri Lanka and it was the perfect place to relax! The pool is stunning and the seating area is really lovely to sit and unwind. Breakfast was lovely and the room itself was so comfy and thoughtfully designed. The shower deserves a mention, I miss it!

South House is a beautiful and well maintained hotel, located in a rural and quiet area, a 10 minute drive away from Weligama town. From check-in until check-out we felt so much taken care of by the wonderful personnel at South House. The whole property is very clean, the rooms are spacious, bathroom with hot shower, towels and bedsheets smell very lovely, which adds to the beautiful atmosphere. The breakfast was another highlight during our stay. We loved so much the homemade pastries and the Sri Lankan Rotis. Also, an early check-out was arranged for us and we even got a breakfast to take away, both of which we appreciated so much. We cannot recommend this hotel enough and would like thank Anke and Malka as well as the entire team at South House for our pleasant stay.

Anke and her ladies from South House-Weligama are a dream. You come as a stranger and leave as a friend. You are lovingly greeted with home-made cakes and are spoiled again at breakfast every day. The rooms are very clean and appropriately furnished. The entire house with the pool and garden exudes a feel-good atmosphere. Anke is always ready with suggestions and recommendations. We felt completely at home! Many thanks again to Anke and her ladies!

The breakfast each morning was great and had really healthy options. The location is perfect and is around 200m from a quiet beach. The property itself was always very clean and was nice to come back to after a long day. Anke the host was very welcoming and had lots of information on what to do in the local area and where to eat etc.

Such an amazing place! We had such a lovely time in the south house, the hosts are absolutely amazing and happy to help with anything we needed!♥️ Anke and the rest of the team are just incredible and so so so nice. We originally booked only 2 nights but eventually stayed for almost a week! The pool is incredibly pretty and the place is so calm quiet and relaxing. Breakfasts are absolutely amazing and Anke’s French toast is to die for!!! Could not recommend more and can’t wait to come again

Beautiful setting. Luscious green setting. Amazing pool. Host was really accommodating and greeted us with juice and cakes. A very beautiful hotel with a delicious breakfast included.

A little far from main Weligama but it was incredibly peaceful so not really an issue.

We were already looking forward to our last stop of our trip but we still got positively surprised. The South House is such a special place. Anke and the other staff are so kind, open and helpful that we directly felt home. The place is so pretty and intimate with only two rooms. We stayed there with our friends in the two rooms and it felt like our place. The rooms are spacious, very big and comfortable bed, great bathroom and with the AC very nice during hot days. We enjoyed staying at the pool, the beach also for surfing is, close by, there is a bus stop around the corner so you can easily get in the city centre or to other great places at the beach. For everyone that wants to calm down and relax and does not need a central location, we can only recommend and will come back for sure.

There is nothing I could mention that was not great.

South-house Weligama is the paradise. Everything was simply wonderful, the breakfast, the garden, but most importantly the hosts. Thank you very much, everything was fantastic.

I was made very welcome - even though I was late arriving. A fabulous meal was waiting too! The photos don’t do justice to the lovely house, gardens & pool. The atmosphere is very relaxed & I immediately felt at home. The location is quiet and it’s a short walk to a beautiful, equally quiet beach. Glenn & Anke were so helpful & the smiling staff delightful. Thank you! I’ll definitely return!

There was nothing I didn’t like.

Breakfast was very nice and I also had a Sri Lankan dinner cooked for me one night which was superb. Communication from Glenn & Anke to any questions I had before and through out my stay was excellent.

South House is a beautiful secluded oasis away from the bustle of Weligama but close enough to take part in the action. the hosts were incredibly welcoming, the food was delicious, and the pool was very nice to just in to beat the afternoon heat. very special place!

Tasteful and stylish small accommodation with great breakfast, luscious garden and a pool. They don’t have many rooms so we had the place to ourselves with our friends family. The breakfast there is something to look forward to!

What a gem away from the busy Weligama area! You can easily walk to the Jungle beach and eat a great food at Silent pup or get a tuk tuk and reach to Weligama beach area where you can surf and visit some nice restaurants. Or you can easily just chill at this property the whole day because the atmosphere and the pool is just so nice and relaxing. The owner is also very nice and helpful! And the breakfast was also very delicious, they even served home made banana bread and scones. Also cool that you can hear the sound of birds during the night. Loved everything!

Bird noises can be a bit loud during the night if you are not very heavy sleeper.

this place is absolutely amazing. it was the last of 4 accommodations where we stayed during our vacation. the plants, the pool, the complete aera is so nice, we really liked everything. the breakfast was nice, we got the best coconut symbol we‘ve ever ate, the rooms are nice and got cleaned everyday. the woman who stayed there and managed the place is such an lovely woman, we had nice conversations and in the end we got some banana bread for our flight back home. thank you Anke for this amazing stay there.

we missed a door between sleeping and restroom. we are not a couple who is doing his buisness in front of eachother, so we just waited outside everytime. I think just a sliding door would be fit and will solve some of the couple problems.

Staff was amazing and heartwarming, Room was cleaned everyday and overall this is is almost a solid 10/10. Pool was clean and the place was quiet and nice

We loved every single thing about our stay at the South House - Weligama. it is a gorgeous setting and so calm and peaceful. our week-long stay was pure bliss.

The Best hotel during our stay in Sri Lanka (by the way, there were 8 hotels). It has modern and stylish design, incredibly delicious breakfast, a beautiful beach within a walking distance. I am extremely grateful to the staff for their help, care and kindness
