Rami was an excellent host and all other staff were really nice. The view was fantastic

The advertised room was misleading, and the hotel blamed the issue on Booking.com. We booked a room listed as “Room with Hot Tub,” which showed photos of a balcony with the hot tub outside, as well as a swing. However, when we arrived, the hotel staff told us that the room we had booked actually had the hot tub inside the room. They said Booking.com had advertised the room incorrectly and that this had apparently happened before. I showed them the app as well. The hotel did offer us the room we originally expected for the first night, but on the second night we were moved to the room with the indoor hot tub, which was not the room we had booked. As we had limited options, we had no choice but to accept it. Apart from this issue, everything else about our stay was good.

Breathtaking views (when you finally reach the main entrance). The hub itself is a milestone to reach up to (quite literally). The rooms were nice and clean and was mostly well equipped. It was outside of the main road, which means that you have to either hire a local tuktuk to pick you up or walk about 20 mins from the guest house to the main road in Weligama.

· There was no basin inside the toilet, so we had to literally walk out to the balcony to wash our hands every single time. Quite impractically placed and should have been inside like it mostly is. Upon check-in, we were charged taxes for paying with card. This should actually be informed by the staff before we had to pay, which they didn’t. Also there weren’t any visible signs at the reception, informing about that.

My stay at Ocean Bliss by Sugar Coliving was honestly one of the best experiences I had in Sri Lanka. The location is unbelievable, right in front of the ocean with the sound of waves all day and night. The room was very stylish, clean, and comfortable, with amazing sea views from the balcony. The staff were extremely welcoming and helpful from the moment we arrived. I also loved the peaceful atmosphere because it felt private and relaxing away from crowded tourist areas. Perfect place for digital nomads, couples, or anyone looking to disconnect and enjoy nature. The internet was fast, the shared spaces were cozy, and everything felt modern yet relaxing. I would definitely come back again for a longer stay next time

We stayed at Ocean Bliss by Sugar Coliving for several nights and honestly wished we booked more days. The property has one of the most beautiful ocean views I have ever seen. Waking up every morning with the beach directly in front of us felt unreal. The room design was modern, clean, and very comfortable. The staff made us feel at home and were always smiling and ready to help with recommendations and transportation. The location near Jungle Beach was excellent because it was quiet but still close enough to restaurants and surf spots. The peaceful atmosphere and relaxing vibe made this stay unforgettable. The best part about this property is its stunning location—right by the sea, overlooking the beautiful turquoise waters of Jungle Beach Weligama. The rooms are spacious and thoughtfully designed with great aesthetics. The manager, Ramy, is incredibly warm and responsive, and the staff are consistently kind and welcoming. Overall, it’s excellent value for money and a stay I would definitely recommend.

It had the best view with access to the beach.

Wir hatten so eine tolle Aussicht von unserem Zimmer, es war einfach unbeschreiblich. Das Zimmer war richtig schön eingerichtet sodass man sich sofort wohlgefühlt hat und auch das Personal war immer erreichbar und hat uns jeden Wunsch erfüllt. Vor allem die Nähe zum Jungle Beach war super, da wir quasi das Paradies vor der Haustür hatten 😊

The fixed shelf could have been fixed, it was not possible to put a laptop on it. It is a bit too much pricy regarding the few facilities offered (no swimming pool, no breakfast)

The staff was excellent, meet all the requests on time and was smiling and listening all the time. The location and the view from the room was panaromic.

The room have small ants and insects coming for the lights in the evening disturbing stay. Sometimes the insects fallen into the bath tub also. We refrain from using bath tub even though we paid for a room due to small insects.

The manager was nice and the views were very nice, the best we had so far.

There were water leakages throughout the room whenever it rained including under the floorboards, balcony doors and the roof. The water dripping from the roof drenched our speaker and charger leaving them unusable. Our suitcases and bags which were on the floor were constantly soaked. The room also had a massive insect problem and it was very noisy from above. The room looks nice like the pictures however, the bed and facilities are very low quality. There was no hot water in the tub. The room only got cleaned once in our 4-night stay and since there was constant water leakages and insects around it caused us to be very on the edge. There's also no breakfast on site apart from a communal kitchen, therefore, the amount requested by this hotel looking hostel is very overpriced for what it is. Considering we are paying a premium for this higher priced hotel than locally, amenities and the standard did not match. Would have been more economical and better experience at any other hotel or even hostel.

My room had a huge balcony with bathtub and washbasin were placed outside. The Washbasin area should have had more privacy. Washrooms have natural or mechanical ventilation to take out the air outside and bring fresh air inside.

Friendly people, amazing views, great shared spaces! I felt at home from day 1 and didn't want to leave. Met a few amazing travelers as well. The wifi is very strong and great for calls. There are 2 small beaches just in front, and a small restaurant nearby, Uber Eats for everything else!

I wish there had been more than one towel in the room. There was no hair dryer or iron, which made my stay a bit complicated. Also, there are no breakfast places nearby, which was inconvenient.

View was breathtaking

Terrible experience – avoid this hotel! We were charged $165 per night, much more than what was shown on Booking.com. The bathroom was leaking, there were cockroaches, and the place was unhygienic and unfinished, with construction noise even on Friday evening. There no security, and no reception at night—only one worker doing construction. The balcony door lock was broken, making the room unsafe. We booked for 3 nights but escaped after 1 night. The manager promised a refund but never followed through and ignored our messages. For this price, you can get a real 5-star hotel with comfort, safety, and proper service. Do not stay here!

This hotel was the last stop on our honeymoon, and we were absolutely thrilled. The hotel is very well maintained, and the view of the sea is simply stunning. The staff is truly extremely friendly. Special mention goes to Ravindu and Anjana, who take great care of their guests. We had an unforgettable time there and would like to take this opportunity to thank all the staff for this wonderful stay.

They did not provide towels until 6pm when we checked in. Room was not cleaned.

Firstly we were greeted warmly by Anjana the hostess. She was so freindly and welcoming. She explained the hotel, the available driver out the front, nearby attractions. The rest of the staff were so lovely too. Our room was gorgeous, we could see the ocean from our bed. The view from our deck was gorgeous. The hotel was nice and peaceful, away from traffic.

We stayed four nights at this resort located at the north end of the beach of Weligama. It is a very small bay with two beaches separated by the rocks in a delightful location. The resort stands out from the others in the area because it was recently built and therefore it is all new. Anjana as head of staff was immediately very helpful and attentive to our requests. The resort is located in a slightly elevated position compared to the beach and therefore the rooms on the ground floor also have a decent view of the sea. In fact, a pleasant corner room on the ground floor has been reserved for us. However, having also seen rooms on the upper floors, we asked if there was availability. Anjana, with great attention, told us that all the rooms were occupied, but that they were going to permanently equip three completely new rooms just finished upstairs. All the staff worked to finish as soon as possible one of the three rooms that we were able to occupy after 2 days. A fantastic room, completely new, with large arched windows, a bathtub near one of the windows, a large sink at the entrance and a bathroom with a separate toilet and shower. The view from the large balcony is priceless. Anjana through WhatsApp has always been extremely available to all our requests. There is also the availability to provide food in the room from breakfast to dinner. Highly recommended.

The hotel is lovely, however we felt it was very overpriced. We stayed 1-4 Jan so assume a peak season tariff was applied. For <$200, it would be totally acceptable. However we were charged more than double that so you expect a lot more. Some examples of where it missed expectations - The bath is on the balcony, however there is little privacy from the shared kitchen on one side and the next room on the other, you can peer round the sides straight into the bath. The water is also luke warm. There’s no safe for valuables. The bed is extremely creaky, it wakes you up in the night. They don’t have spare keys so the room can only be serviced when you’re at the hotel. These might all seem trivial but for $500+ SGD a night you have certain expectations. The location is great. The staff were lovely. The room is spacious and clean and the views are stunning.

Absolutely loved this spot - amazing ocean views with a great swimming spot right outside. Accommodation is away from the hustle and bustle of Weligama but easy to reach via tuk tuk. Great spot for surfers looking to make the most of the local breaks up and down the coast.

1. I liked the location. The waves were great here. 5 minutes from the centre 2. The room is average but the view is amazing. 3. The rooftop chilling area is amazing- but the furniture and chair is broken.

There is a racket of scamming travellers with the scooty. Even the staff from the reception is involved. I did not get the scooty papers and insurance when I got the scooty, and while returning the agent was outside the property the whole time and came knocking at my room door for payment and the paperwork issue. This was unacceptable, and when spoke to him in front of the front desk girl, she agreed to him that she did check and give which makes it even scrarier because she is completely involved in this scam. Spoilt the mood at the last moment with such a petty thing. He overcharged 3000LKR for the same.

They agreed to cancel our reservation and let us go when we said we do not like the place

The place was nothing like in the photos. the room is small, and the place was under construction, also there was almost no privecy. We took the room with the bath but the place has no electrical heating system for the water and it was not a warm day so there was no hot water for the hot tub which is why we took this room in the first place.

Super Lage, direkt am Strand, tolle Aussicht, geschmackvoll eingerichtetes Zimmer und unheimlich praktisch, da sogar eine Waschmaschine gratis zur Verfügung steht und sogar ein Wäscheständer gebracht wurde. WiFi funktioniert ebenfalls gut. Zudem war bei uns im Zimmer alles sehr sauber. Ein absolutes no go ist allerdings Gästen ins Gesicht zu lügen! Diese Unterkunft ist aktuell (und wahrscheinlich noch sehr lange) eine totale Baustelle und gerade erst im Aufbau. Bohren, Hämmern usw. von morgens bis abends! Ich hatte sogar vor Anreise noch explizit nachgefragt, ob aktuell Bauarbeiten stattfinden was verneint wurde! Das erste, was wir dann hörten, war: Baulärm! Auf erneuten Kontakt hin wurde mir mehrfach zugesichert, dass die Bauarbeiten pausiert / eingestellt werden - 3x hat man das schriftlich versprochen! Natürlich war auch das eine Lüge und es ging munter weiter. Hier wird dem zahlenden Gast ins Gesicht gelogen. Dann wollte man mir erzählen, es würde unter uns in den Räumen lediglich die AC repariert werden, was mehr als offensichtlich nicht der Fall war. Überall stehen neue Matratzen in den Gängen, es liegt Bauschutt rum, auf dem Balkon unter uns wurde der Aussenbereich gestaltet/ Fußleisten angebracht etc. Man wird völlig verarscht! Es ist mehr als offensichtlich, dass hier eine komplette Renovierung stattfindet!! An Frechheit und Arroganz kaum zu überbieten. Mit Urlaubsflair und Erholung hat das NICHTS zu tun!! Beautiful rooms, amazing views, staff were so kind, everything was perfect and it’s in a great location. Air conditioning worked perfectly as well!

During the day the area and the beaches around are nice and easy to reach by walking. And the terrace view was nice.

The area felt unsafe during the night as there was no security staff at the hotel and no proper light around the street. The area itself is quite hidden and taxis and Tuk Tuk drivers reject driving there or picking up people. The place itself is totally open and everybody could enter to the doors at the rooms. During our stay at the first night somebody was trying to enter the room when we were inside. There is no table nor sitting chairs on the terrace. No place to leave things in the bathroom and to hang up the towels. The whole bathroom gets completely wet after a shower and stay like this for many hours. The sink to wash the hands and brush the teeth is outside in the terrace where everybody can see you. During our stay the hotel was under construction and the noises started early. All in all the pictures provide a cozy and relaxed and save stay but unfortunately this was not the case.

Situated next to some lovely beaches, is a short drive away from Welligama town.

The location was in the middle of nowhere and trying to get a Tuk to get out is very difficult. I waited 2 hours for a Tuk!Therefore you can’t plan anything.

The view from my room was absolutely stunning — you can see the beach almost all around (about 280°). The location on the cliff makes it feel really special. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was super tasty. The chef did a great job, and I even had a romantic dinner here which was really lovely. A big thanks to Anjana at the front office, she was so nice and welcoming. Overall, everything was perfect — I’d definitely recommend Ocean Bliss. 10/10!

Beach view from our room and location

During our stay, we encountered several issues that unfortunately made our experience disappointing. The bed was not comfortable, and the room offered no particular amenities — there was no quality shampoo or shower gel, and no bath towels were provided, only beach towels. No bottled water was supplied in our room throughout our stay. The hotel did not offer the possibility to have meals on-site, not even breakfast or a proper coffee. The reality did not match the photos we had seen prior to booking. In the evenings, the noise from neighboring rooms made it difficult for us to rest. Cleanliness fell short of expectations. We were disturbed by noises from mouses in the ceiling, and we even saw them on one occasion. Overall, the experience was disappointing, to the point that we decided to leave before our planned departure date.

Posizione ottima, in riva all’oceano e vicino ad un sacco di luoghi da visitare. Per gli amanti degli animali, a farti compagnia durante il soggiorno ci sono tre pelosi: Rambo, Kurt e Shara (tre trovatelli adottati dall’hotel, il che è fantastico visto che in Sri Lanka trovi cani randagi ovunque e chi se ne prende cura è da elogiare). La struttura è molto bella, organizzata come una surf house (cucina e luoghi comuni condivisi). Non hanno il ristorante, ma su richiesta ti portano da mangiare (molto buono) direttamente in camera.

It’s such a beautiful property! I stayed here in Sri Lanka, and even during the slow season they are running everything so smoothly. The place is very unique — right on the beach, and you can see the sea from your bed. The team is fantastic, very friendly and kind. Chef Krishn is amazing; he prepared a romantic dinner for my husband’s birthday, probably the best dinner we’ve ever had. Everything was perfect — the place is clean, peaceful, and so relaxing

Since it was off-season, nearby restaurants were closed, so you need to take a tuk‑tuk or scooter to Weligama — but don’t worry, the in‑house kitchen can prepare anything you like

It has a good location with a nice sea view. Staff are accommodating to my requests and very polite.

Room is not entirely clean. I saw stains in the bedsheet and pillowcases. Also water leaks in the terrace. Shared kitchen is not that clean as well. They don’t have at-least mini pantry in the room itself. They don’t have in house restaurant or cafe yet, I think still in process.

The view is absolutely incredible. The area is remote which I loved as I could fully disconnect. Staff are really attentive and on hand to help throughout the stay. Home cooked Sri Lankan breakfast was the best I had the whole trip.

Still doing building works but this didn't affect me as I wake up early and not on site most of the day.

We had a truly enjoyable stay at the property - it’s the kind of place where you settle in and instantly feel at ease. The view from the property is beautiful, facing the ocean with open spaces that let in the sea breeze all day. The common area is a real highlight - perfect for unwinding after a long day of exploring. Whether you're catching up on some reading or simply sipping a cold beer, the setting is laid-back and peaceful, with that calming coastal breeze making it even better. 🌬️🍺 The staff were amazing throughout. Praveen the owner of the property was always available and made sure everything was comfortable and smooth for us. A huge shoutout to Chamud and Thinin as well - both the boys were super helpful. Chamud especially was full of great recommendations for restaurants, local hangouts, and party spots, and he was always just a message away. They also provide airport transfers and bike rental on request, which made getting around super convenient. And don’t miss the rooftop seafood restaurant, Fish Bank. The vibe up there is great, and the seafood is top-notch - their Shovel Seafood Fried Rice is a must-try! On our last day, the team surprised us with a lovely breakfast - a thoughtful gesture that really left a lasting impression. This place has the perfect mix of good energy, relaxing spaces, and genuine hospitality. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Weligama.

Ocean Bliss was a wonderful place to stay - clean, spacious, very attentive staff

The room looks exactly like the pictures and is absolutely stunning. Everything in the property is maintained well and you can tell that everyone has put their heart and soul into it. An added bonus was that the food preparation by the chef was exceptional and the staff go above and beyond and present it in a very nice way be it for breakfast for dinner. The beach that is in walking distance to the property is stunning and a nice place to chill it almost feels like a private beach. The owner is also very helpful and is available on WhatsApp.

We ran into a small problem where we were not able to find food near the property (they don't have a full time cafe or restaurant) not sure if this is an issue only during the slow season but most places within walking distance was shut. However, the owner ensured that we got food by sending someone with a bike to go get us food and another night we requested the chef to cook for us since he was on site. This isn't a huge problem but it requires some planning. But because the owner is very helpful you are able to manage without too much trouble.

The hotel is new with a trendy interior "like from Pinterest", but there is a feeling that it is not finished yet or, on the contrary, a feeling of abandonment (perhaps this is due to the end of the season). The view from the room is amazing, I think one of the best in this area. There are two beaches within walking distance, one with rocks, the other with sand and a good entrance to the water.

Of the obvious disadvantages: there is only one cafe nearby, where both breakfasts and dinners are mediocre. You will have to walk about 15 minutes to the rest of the restaurants and shops. You will also have to walk to a taxi and tuk-tuk because of the distance from the road (but it is quiet here). One of the days it rained heavily and water leaked into the room, the staff tried to solve this problem, but, unfortunately, it can only be solved by repairs. So keep this in mind if you are traveling during the rainy season. Overall conclusion: a beautiful hotel with a good view and proximity to the beach, but with a number of inconveniences. Average price-quality ratio.
