Cosy home used as a base while we explored the region. Had everything we needed and kept us warm in -11 degrees! Heated tiles in bathroom were a huge plus!
There were electric heaters for the bedrooms and plenty of wood for the stove so easy to keep the place warm and cosy even tho visiting in July and overnight frosts.
It's a beautiful please and was well stocked with everything you need. They came and gave us more wood when we messaged and it wasn't a problem. Bathroom floor is heated which was lovely.
Owners were lovely and flexible with our check in time due to the weather. When we arrived, they already had the wood fire heater going. Such a lovely, homely, cosy house set in a beautiful location. We did the walk behind the property and made it to the top of the mountain and snow! Super special for my kids who were seeing snow for the first time.
Cosy and comfortable during some cold winter nights. Plenty of heaters and stove fuel supplied as well as electric blankets. Very well equipped and furnished, especially considering the remote location.
A dishwasher and clothes drier would be an added bonus.
Spacious, well equipped kitchen, plenty of heaters and a nice woodburner to keep warm at night. Nice distance from the village if you don't mind a little walk. Plenty of parking around the house. It has two toilets..
No hair shampoo in the spacious bathroom..
Absolutely everything was considered for our comfort! We loved this place, such a credit to the caring owners.
Nothing!
Comfortable cottage in peaceful location very close to all the fantastic hikes.

The Tussocks has everything one could want for a stay at beautiful Arthur's Pass. It has a well equipped kitchen and the bathroom and additional toilet have been updated. There is a laundry. There is sufficient heating (which we did not need at the time) and comfortable seating and bedding. Whilst it is an older building, it appears well insulated and maintained. It only takes around 10 minutes to walk into the village itself - nice not to have to drive.
Eveything you need for a relaxing stay in Arthurs Pass. Kitchen is well stocked with utensils. Firewood all ready should you need to use the log burner. Modernised large bathroom.
One of the few lodgings in Arthur's Pass. Large, clean, comfortable house with everything you need. No central heating but the wood burning stove was really fun and cozy.
Great little cabin to stay at. Would stay here again

Ideally situated in a quiet area but within a few minutes drive of the town. Weather was sunny each day but cold at night so we really appreciated the heaters.
Sky tv would have been nice.
After weeks of travelling we very much appreciated staying in a house with space to move and stretch out. Arthur's Pass is fairly remote but an ideal location for anyone wishing to explore the region.
The house was so cosy and inviting. Beds were extremely comfortable and we had all the facilities you could want to be as self sufficient as possible. All cooking and dining needs were catered for. The lounge area was cozy with the fire going (yes this was the middle of summer, but Arthur's Pass is cold). Entry was easy via a lock box. The house clean and ready to go. We loved our all too short stay here!
sehr schöne Unterkunft
Michael and Marion's place is awesome. A very comfy house perfectly located in Arthur's Pass. We arrived under pouring rain and our hosts had the thoughtfulness and the kindness of warming up the stove, which started incredibly our stay. They also had lots of recommendations and documentations about the surrounding trails and hikes. We would love to come back.
The house had plenty of heating options, all working very well, which made it warm and comfortable. The atmosphere was pleasant, and everything was tidy and well-organized. The kitchen was fully equipped, making it easy to cook, and the instructions provided were clear and well-written. The TV and Wi-Fi worked perfectly, and the bed was comfortable. We were just a couple, but there were many rooms, and the place felt very spacious. The shower had great water pressure and was really enjoyable.
There’s room for better cleaning around the kitchen area — for example, the dining table was quite sticky, and the dishes weren’t very clean. The door handle at the entrance was also sticky. However, the bathroom was clean, and the bed felt fresh and tidy.
We loved our stay. The house is super comfortable, the location was ideal and surrounded by beauty. Loved having a woodburning stove.
Nothing, it was perfect!
While we did not need a 4 bedroom house, it was so lovely o have the space and full kitchen facilities. The bonus was the slow combustion fire in the house. makes it so cosy
The kitchen knives could use a sharpen
Lovely fresh mountain air. Great walks. Tussocks was a superb place to stay in.
Although we did not need 4 bedrooms, as my husband snores, having the use of 2 bedrooms was fabulous for respite on our 3 week South Island trip. The many heaters meant we did not have to use the coal/ wood fire which we used with ease on the first night but I was concerned about creating particulate pollution so we resorted to the excellent oil column heaters which heated up the place well. It is quiet despite being near the railway tracks and the washing was useful for our post tramping laundry which was easily dried on the line so although there is no dryer, none was needed. I appreciated the excellent communication from the proprietors. Their clear instructions made the trip seamless and stressfree.
Nothing was an issue
Living room furniture updated from photos shown on booking.com. Bottle of milk is nice touch. Coffee much appreciated.
Beautiful located and lovely house. We enjoyed the games supplied at night. Host communicated well and was excellent.
Ha ha I’m 5’2 (158cm) a mound under the cloths line so I could reach. Pity I had to get someone taller to do. LOL
Beautiful location and comfortable beds. Great attention to detail in the house with everything we needed.
Charming, well-equipped, comfortable cabin in an amazing location. Great base for hiking.
The house was gorgeous and had everything you could need.
Great facilities, clean and tastefully decorated
The location and parking are very convenient. The apartment space and four rooms are very suitable for us. All the things in the kitchen are enough for us. Besides, the shower is very comfortable. We enjoy to stay here very much.

Good location to experience the Pass. Comfy areas and clean and tidy. Perfect for our midway stop on our 4 week excursion .

Fantastic location in Arthurs Pass village
Lovely house is beautiful setting. Comfortable and clean.
Slightly out of town but not a long walk along the main road or by the river.
It was super clean, the bathroom was very good.
Nothing we didn’t like.
lovely little cottage, quaint and comfortable

We had a wonderfully comfortable stay at the Tussocks, which was even better than the photos. The fireplace and electric blanket were great for the cooler nights. We were well equipped in the kitchen and with laundry facilities too. The coffee pods and milk provided were very much appreciated. Everything was spotless when we arrived. The hikes in the area are fantastic too - Bealey Valley, Bealey Spur and Devil's Punchbowl were our favourites.
Nothing
Self contained. Enough heaters to keep the property warm.
A bit too old.
The shower was great, loved the underfloor heating and double glazing in the bathroom. Two toilets great for a group. and the house would be spacious enough for eight people. Wood and coal for the fire, plus instructions to set it up were appreciated. House was warm and really clean. Kitchen was well appointed for self-catering. The coffee plunger and Nespresso were great. Fairly quiet as located a block back from the highway.
No complaints.
Very nice location Ideal location for a few days in Arthur's pass Can accommodate up to 8 people however we were only 2 so perhaps not too cost effective. Excellent local tips from the owner.
Nothing to complain about
Loved the location. Beautiful surroundings.
Easy to find, great instructions from host, house was spotless, plenty of wood for fireplace, fire kept us so warm we had to open a window. Fully stocked kitchen, Great shower!
Lots of space, lovely rooms, very cozy.

Marion was very friendly and extremely helpful with check-in, check-out, and my broken luggage! The view is stunning, and the place is only a short walk from the village and heaps of walks. The house has plenty of heating which was very welcome after being out in the rain, and cozy overnight. I had a lovely time, wish I'd stayed longer, and would highly recommend staying here for anyone wanting to enjoy some mountains, hikes, and kea!
Nothing.
Fantastic location, great heating options, spacious and cosy
Some slightly outdated furniture, but it mostly added to the charm
A beautiful, cozy cottage set in a gorgeous location. Surrounded by snow covered peaks, rugged landscape, and wildlife. We had Kea visit everyday and we loved watching the rabbits hop around in the evening. The house is in a quiet location giving the peace and rest we needed. It was equipped with everything we needed. Very comfortable house in a gorgeous location. Arthur’s Pass is a delightful village with very generous locals. It is a hiker’s paradise and has become my favourite place in New Zealand.
Nothing. It was perfect.
It was a very cozy and clean place to stay, and the host was incredibly friendly. They even allowed me to check in earlier and check out later.

The cottage was so lovely - quaint and warm. Everything that you could possibly need was there - rhe fire was lit when we arrived. The beds were lovely - comfy and warm with great sheets💕
Nothing
The house was spacious, well equipped and really cosy. The bed was very comfy and the bathroom nice and warm with the underfloor heating and heated towel rails great for drying stuff.
Really not much needed improvement. Perhaps the couches could be improved as they were quite rustic.
Several comfortable bedrooms. The wood stove. Full kitchen with coffee maker. The remodeled and heated main bathroom.
Could have used more heat in the kitchen.
The location, the size of the house, the fire place, heated floors, loved it all!
Nothing
The fireplace was lit ready for us when we came in which was so welcoming. Perfect position for walking at Arthur's Pass.

Charming villa with modern amenities. Room for everyone, spacious! (we were a group of 5). Good location, easy to find.
Maybe a couple more chairs in the kitchen.
Awesome little house. Warm and comfortable

We were given wrong info re key code from booking. Com. Given correct code by owner
The house was just huge and VERY well equipped. The fireplace was a great plus. Check in was a breeze. Toilet was spacious and very comfortable. The shower is just the best! Kitchen well equipped and everything is just well thought of!
Nothing to dislike. The sandflies maybe but thats nothing to do with the property.
Excellent bathroom and kitchen facilities. Electric blankets. Lots of space. Private parking. Log burning fire available.
Sofa and armchair badly need replacing and need new throws over them.
Lovely clean house, well positioned for the tiny settlement in Arthur's Pass. Attention to detail ensured all our needs were well catered for. It was very comfortable, warm and offered a full kitchen for cooking if so desired. It is worth noting here that we came well provisioned for our one night stay fortunately because there was nothing available from 4:30 pm anywhere, the local eateries closing early or not serving at all due to staff shortages.
No complaints at all
complete facilities, newly renovated bathroom, sting wifi, clean
nothing
Big and spacious, clear instructions given. Like the water pressure in the bathroom and provision of essentials for cooking.
Furniture's are a bit old
The fireplace, good kitchen, quiet and clean accommodation. We enjoyed the stay.
Nice host and place. We enjoyed staying in this big houses although we only had two people stayed. Because of raining and early arrival, the host allowed to check in early. Many thanks.
Amazing location! Peaceful and serene. No one around. An older cottage, but with modern facilities (fantastic bathroom, newer washer/dryer machines, comfy beds --enough for at least 4 people, probably more--, cozy living room with wood stove). Close enough to the 1 restaurant and 1 cafe/shop in Arthur's pass (1-minute drive), but away from the road so there's no traffic or other people. Great hosts with great communication.
Everything was amazing. We wish we'd stayed longer!
