Spacious cabin with lovely hillside views of the town and bay. Very comfortable and private. Lovely helpful hosts.

It was private and had the most amazing view overlooking whangamata and the ocean as it was high up on hill. It had everything you needed and was high quality. The shower was Huge and had amazing pressure. The bed was comfortable. 5 🌟 . The hosts were amazing and very helpful . The history of the place was very interesting too. Can't wait to come back next year for beachop.

It is a comfortable little cottage that had everything we needed for our stay. We were able to prepare and enjoy simple meals, relax and read outside, easily get to our destinations for hiking or in town, and sleep well. It was very clean and had all of the amenities we needed.

Wow. Such a great find. The views were incredible, high up looking over the estuary , over the town to the sea and islands. Accommodation of high quality, immaculate. Greeted by lovely hosts but then privacy respected . Outside terrace and table with views. Shower big enough for the all blacks rugby team! Nice town centre nearby with good food options.

For coffee lovers like us always travel with your own cafetière! Such minor point shows how good the place was

It is a perfect little hideaway: calm, clean, cosy, with a spectacular view over the bay and very nice hosts!

Secluded Location with Amazing Views

Really warm, welcoming hosts, very accommodating & helpful. Location was tops, great overlook of township & beaches in the distant. Just a few minutes' easy drive from town. Photos of accom are spot on, everything as shown ie good.

Tineke and Ian are excellent hosts. They made us feel welcome and at home, from the moment we arrived and Tineke came to meet us with a big smile. The place is well secluded, tucked away behind the main house - you can't even see the part of the property where the hosts live. Very quiet at night, with stunning views of the beach and river during the day, and beautiful starry sky at night.

We liked everything 🙂 the accomodation was the perfect size with a separate bedroom and the kitchen had everything we needed. The bathroom was great and the shower was awesome. Everything was so clean and the room was warm. It was lovely and quiet and the view was great. Tineke was lovely and excellent at communicating. Would definitely stay here again but would like fine weather next time!

The views and location on a hill were stunning!

Well... We've been gone from home since Dec 31, now Feb 10th. This is THE BEST unit we have stayed in while hitting the roads in Australia & now NZ. Don't you all wish to wake up to a sunrise over the town of Whangamata? Then, let's add in Donut Island. OR, make a short tromp up their hill for an even higher view in surrounding directions! Wonderful book provided with cottage info, good internet speed, awesome recommendations for great nearby foods. We'd have liked a burner, but they had a George Foreman grill that baked our cheese sandwiches & micro for heating soup. Thank you both gor a BEAUTIFUL, secluded, safe, and plush cottage.p

Perfect Location, Amazing View. Best Location in Whangamata. Quick drive to town centre. The Hosts Tineke and Ian are the most fantastic hosts, make sure you have everything sorted prior to arrival and make you feel incredibly welcome. We have stayed twice and will be back a 3rd time. 10/10 and the most perfect location and stay!

The stay aprovided us with kitchen facilities so we had flexibility in what we wanted.

The accommodation was as described. Lovely deck, kitchen with just what you need to make some simple meals, large bathroom/shower and comfortable bed with end tables on both sides. And the view! It's so nice to stay somewhere where you can meet the hosts and get some insider information about the area. Tineke and Ian helped with destination and dining suggestions that elevated our time in the area. We felt fortunate to have found this gem of an area. If their place is available, don't hesitate to book!

The kitchen is a bit small but it was ok for us since we stayed only 3 nights and cooked dinner only 1 night. Enough big for breakfast meal.

Excellent choice, really enjoyed our three night stay here. Really helpful owner upon arrival helping old man with luggage. Great views from the deck. Slept like a log. Easy access to town for trips out. WiFi very good.

Quiet location with pretty garden. Separate kitchen to bedroom and nice seating area outside.

Stair access from the car parking area to the chalet was a bit tricky with suitcases. No hanging space for clothes so you live out of your suitcase - not so good for an extended stay. The view of the sea is visible only when standing - but the bushes have probably been pruned by now.

Extensive view with a rural aspect incredible bird life in gardens and trees surrounding the accommodation. Very peaceful at the end of the day and amazing sun rise.

Travelling from Australia. Had three nights at the Mandhari. Beautiful apartment. Comfortable bed. Beautiful view from balcony. Owner helpful when we needed anything E.g. It was very cold at night and they offered us more heaters and an electric blanket We did not need these. Beautiful fruit trees outside our door. Enjoyed sampling the mandarins. Enjoyed our stay. Can highly recommend Rassasy restaurant in town for tapas food. Many places closing soon for the season.

Better lighting on the lower pathway would be safer. The solar lights not very effective in the dark. The lights around the cabin excellent.

Peaceful and private. Great outlook, rural and sea views over town combined. Very roomy and good ventilation throughout. Unit well appointed with modern furnishings. Hosts excellent.

The cottage has lovely views out over Whangamata. The bed is very comfortable and the shower, which is huge, is excellent. The kitchenette is well equipped. Friendly welcome and local information from Tineke and she gave us some feijoas to try. It would take about 40 minutes to walk down into Whangamata but it’s an easy 5-10 minute drive. The location is very peaceful and the cottage is surrounded by trees and shrubs with lots of birdlife. Several times a tui perched right outside the French windows and sang beautifully. It was lovely to sit outside on the deck.

There is only a bedside table and light on one side of the bed. No wardrobe or chest of drawers – we were only there for 2 nights so didn’t really mind but the lack might be annoying for a longer stay

Beautiful, immaculately prepared property. Large patio with panoramic views of city and sea below. Wonderful sunrises to start the day. Tineke was the perfect hostess, warmly welcoming us upon arrival to even sharing crystal glasses later for our afternoon cocktail!

Very friendly hosts, incredible views from The Cottage, very clean, really comfortable and had everything you could possibly need for a few days away. Feels like you’re staying rurally, yet it’s less than 5 mins away from the Whangamata township. Highly recommended and we’ll be back again

Great hosts Great views Cozy, quiet and homely

I came alone to enjoy my me-time and didn't except much as I just wanted to relax. But what I got really exceeded my expectations. Tineke and Ian are lovely hosts. Their place is more that neat, the bed is super comfy. The view from the deck is spectacular and also a short walk uphill for almost 360C view. In addition, the weather was sunny and I couldn't help staying on the beach more than I planned.

The property has amazing views, is tastefully decorated, super clean with everything you need. The owners were very easy to communicate with and super friendly. We loved our stay and wish we could of stayed longer. I would highly recommend this property.

The location was really good with amazing views. It was peaceful and we loved listening to the birdsong. The hosts were very friendly and gave us fruit from the garden. There was a seat at the top of the property to sit and read in the sun.

There wasn’t anything ‘I didn’t like’ about the property but my only suggestion would be an outside light as can get a bit dark outside when you get back home late

There was a bit of a steep slope reaching the house after parking the car and we just about made it with our bad legs, though they did offer us an easier route through their garage.

Everything was great and the view is stunning. Accommodation was clean and tidy and great hosts.

Access was quite steep, would not suit anyone with mobility issues.
