Die Unterkunft hat eine super Lage, es ist sehr ruhig aber man ist in 3 Gehminuten im Zentrum von Ella. Generell war es sehr bequem und das Personal war äußerst hilfsbereit. Das Frühstück ist ebenfalls zu empfehlen.

We had a beautiful stay at Fair View Cottage. We where three persons and it was more then enough space for all of us. The Hotel was close to the city centrum, around 5 mins walk. Our host helped us in every situation, from organizing trips to good talks. Thanks for having us

We were very happy about the service of the host and the location of the cottage. He was very kind and arranged a scooter rental, brought to us after breakfast. We found that the place is nicer than imagined from the pictures. Price to value was very good!

Shower boiler is a bit smaller so we had shorter showers 5-7 min but that was fine.

We had a wonderful stay! It’s a quiet place, just a few steps from Ella Street, with plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. The accommodation was very comfortable and had everything we needed. The breakfast was delicious, too! Deapal was a great host and gave us lots of helpful recommendations. We especially loved sitting on the balcony, watching the birds and squirrels running around—it felt like something out of a fairytale. If I visit Ella again, I would definitely stay here!

המיקום היה ממש 5 דק הליכה מהמרכז של אלה , קרוב להכל אבל בסימטה צדדית, הבעלים והעובד במקום היו ממש נחמדים , דאגו לנו ועזרו בהכל , החדר עצמו היה נקי , נעים , מרווח , גור הכלבים פינאט היה כל כך מתוק הילדים שלי לא רצו להיפרד ממנו

החיסרון היחיד שהמקום לא מתאים לילדים קטנים ממש כי החדר העליון וגם המרפסת שלו לא הכי בטוחים כי הכל די פתוח וגבוה , המעקה עדיין פתוח בחלקים מסוימים , לא נתנו לילדים לעלות למעלה לקומה העליונה , אז זה החיסרון היחיד … אם אין ילדים קטנים ממש אין סיבה לחשוש כי החדר מושלם מכל מבחינה אחרת .

Our host was amazing, really kind, friendly and helpful. Breakfast was amazing, we looked forward o it. Stunning views and perfect location for us.

The only thing we would say would need improving is a more sturdy gate (only because we could hear it banging when it was quite windy) but it did not bother us too much - we still managed to get a really nice sleep both nights we stayed there.

This place is just so wonderful! The host is super kind, helpful and friendly. Really enjoyed my stay. The bed was extremely comfortable with really lovely comfy bedding (something missing in a lot of places). Really helpful host who organised my taxi journey at really short notice. Great vibe and felt really close to everything yet also peaceful and wlld in the jungle. Great monkey watching! Also AC for the price and general feel plus breakfast - amazing value. Great find!

Les marches pour monter au logement peuvent être assez hautes et difficiles à monter avec de gros bagages. Quelques coupures sporadiques de courant.

Zeer proper, super vriendelijke mensen, ideale ligging niet druk maar toch in centrum. Super mooi uitzicht!

De host Riyash doet er alles aan om een rustgevend verblijf te garanderen. We verbleven in een kamer met airco, met een prachtig uitzicht, dicht bij de natuur, maar niet zo dichtbij dat er beestjes te vinden zijn in de kamer (als enige verblijf van onze hele reis!). Hij voorziet eigenhandig het allerbeste ontbijt dat we al gegeten hebben gedurende onze hele reis. Je kan kiezen tussen een Westers en een Sri Lankaans ontbijt. We namen driemaal een Sri Lankaans ontbijt (telkens met een dagelijkse variatie). Hij voorziet ook gegidste wandelingen, transport en vele andere diensten. Er is geen algemene receptie, maar dat hebben we ook niet gemist. Hij is ten alle tijden goed bereikbaar. Als je houdt van lekker eten, persoonlijk contact, een propere kamer met een geweldig uitzicht met wildlife, dan moet je niet verder zoeken!

La tranquilidad.

Booking debería quitarlo de su oferta. NO hicimos checkin porque me dijeron que no era necesario. El desayuno no vale la pena. El acceso es por unas escaleras horrorosas. Y NO limpian habitación. Hemos estado 2 noches y ni siquiera cambian las toallas ni hacen la cama. Y lo peor, el checkout. Me querían cobrar más por pagar con tarjeta, a lo que me he negado. Y al pagar en efectivo (en euros), también me querían cobrar más, a lo que me he negado también. Les he dejado el dinero y ya está. Obviamente, al no hacer el checkin no me han dado la factura. Insisto, Booking debería investigar este hotel y quitarlo de su oferta.

Unser Highlight war das frisch servierte Frühstück auf der eigenen Terrasse des Cottages, während welchem wir jeden Morgen Tiere in den umliegenden Bäumen und Gärten beobachten konnten (Affen, Streifenhörnchen,...). Unser Gastgeber Kalai hat uns super beraten und bei der Planung von Aktivitäten und Fahrten toll unterstützt. Die Lage ist optimal, da man etwas von der Hauptstraße entfernt ist und sich in der Natur fühlt, aber innerhalb von 5 Minuten in der Innenstadt ist. Guter Ausgangspunkt zur Nine Arch Bridge und dem Little Adams Peak. Wir würden es absolut weiterempfehlen!

Gut zu wissen: der Zugang ist etwas versteckt und nur über eine steile Treppe erreichbar.

Wondeful breakfast, the cottages are well maintained and clean, the location is perfect, staff is so nice and the value for money is exceptionnal.

Not for people with mobuilty issues, plenty of steps to climb to access but otherwisea beautiful and quiet place to stay in Ella.

Wir haben uns im Fair View Cottage sehr wohl gefühlt. Das Frühstück war superlecker. Der Mitarbeiter vor Ort hat uns viele gute Tipps gegeben, was wir in Ella machen können und uns auch einen guten Spot für die nine Arches Bridge gezeigt. Er hat uns auch Tuktuk-Fahrten organisiert und vermittwlte einen Fahrer für unseren nächste Untwrkunft, der auf dem Weg nochmal Sightseeing-Spots einlegte. Die Unterkunft hat eine superlage, alles ist gut fußläufig zu erreichen und trotzdem war es abends/nachts ruhig.

Unser Aufenthalt im Fair View Cottage war toll. Man schläft in kleinen Hütten mit Blick auf die Berge von Ella. Vom Balkon aus konnten wir viele Tiere sehen. Die Unterkunft war sauber, liegt direkt beim Zentrum und das Frühstück war sehr lecker. Der Host ist super hilfsbereit und bietet auch selber verschiedene Touren an. Wir waren rundum zufrieden

We had a wonderful stay at Fair View Cottage in Ella. The cottage is beautiful, very clean, and offers a stunning view that makes waking up in the morning truly special. The cottage is close to town, yet peaceful and quiet. What made our stay exceptional was Riyash. He was incredibly friendly, attentive, and always ready to help. He shared great local tips and showed us some real hidden gems that made our visit to Ella feel much more authentic. Breakfast was another highlight. We had delicious fresh egg hoppers and a wonderful Sri Lankan breakfast that we enjoyed on the terrace with the amazing view. A small note: the cottage is located on a hillside with many uneven steps, so it may not be suitable for guests with limited mobility. Overall, we highly recommend staying here.

Very quiet and tucked away from the insanity of Ella strip. Loved bird watching in the morning. The bed was super comfortable. Rias, the host, was wonderful. So kind and helpful, nothing was a trouble, and he even got up to help us with our bags at 4am and made us sandwiches for our journey. So lovely.

The bathroom had a slightly mouldy smell with smelly drains when using the shower, but was otherwise totally fine and not offensive enough to cause us to complain. We were concerned about the lack of mosquito net as there are slight gaps in the door seams where they could get in, but we used the mosquito coil provided and didn’t get any bites or hear any mosquitos! It was no problem for us, but accessibility could be challenging for those with restricted mobility as the property is up some very very steep steps.

The room has amazing view, very quiet and away from the busy main road of Ella. We woke up every day and admired a grizzled giant squirrel taking twigs from a tree. Breakfast is served on the veranda in front of the room. We opted for the Sri Lankan breakfast, and it was great on both days.

The road access is very narrow, our driver struggled a bit, also because there is no illumination. The walk up to the room is a bit steep. They helped us with heavy luggage, but it might be challenging for people with reduced mobility.

Rien en particulier. Attention pour les personnes à mobilité réduite, il y a de hautes marches à monter (ce qui ne nous a pas dérangé, c’était notre petite séance de sport journalière). Le tarif de la chambre est un peu élevé, mais cela vaut tout de même l’expérience.

Riyash, is a really friendly and helpful 'manager'. He was the guy who welcomed us, gave us tips and joined us on the 4am Ella Rock Hike. We really liked him around us, he made our stay even better. It's really nice that the Cottage (there are only 3 cottages, 2 couple ones and one family duplex) is in the centre of Ella, but in a peaceful environment, away from the busy city centre. The location is great! The breakfast was excellent! We could choose when to eat and they brought fresh breakfast to our cottage. Dahl, roti, fresh fruit, tea, fruit juice, ...

We had a wonderful stay in this great accommodation! The location was great and we were within walking distance of restaurants, bars, and famous sights. The cabin was very nice, comfortable, and simply cozy. We enjoyed the small terrace with its fantastic view every morning while having a delicious breakfast. The breakfast was very varied, authentic, and plentiful. The host (Kalai) was fantastic and always had an open ear for us. He also gave us good tips for activities in the region. Highly recommended! Thank you very much for the wonderful time there!

The host or the individual helping us throughout the stay was amazing. He definitely was doing the above and beyond. He helped us with nearby attractions, provided us a great Tamil style dinner and breakfast!

Du Unterkunft an sich war sauber und gepflegt. Die Betten waren bequem und die Lage ruhig aber trotzdem zentral. Viele Vögel kann man vom Balkon beobachten, Streifenhörnchen oder sogar Affen, die ganze nah am Cottage entspannen. Das Team war sehr lieb und aufgeschlossen und haben uns immer bei Fragen weiter geholfen oder Tipps gegeben. Mit Riyash als unser Guide sind wir gemeinsam morgens auf den Ella Rock gewandert. Wir können zudem wärmstens das Abendessen von Riyash empfehlen. Wir haben uns zweimal verwöhnen lassen und wurden nicht enttäuscht. Es ist im Vergleich relativ teuer aber es hat sich auch gelohnt. Sowohl er beim Abendessen als auch beim Frühstück wurde auch auf unsere Vorlieben eingegangen. Hätten wir westlich Frühstücken wollen, hätte das Team das möglich gemacht.

Durch die Regenzeit und wofür die Besitzer nichts können, war es sehr feucht im cottage. Das Bad empfand ich selbst als sehr kalt und ungemütlich, weil es eben feucht und in Kombination mit dem Betonboden kalt war. Was jedoch toll war: es gab wärmere Bettwäsche und eine Klimaanlage

This cottage is exceptional! It was clean, comfortable, had all amenities and some extra (they even provided us with toothbrush and toothpaste) there was a big walk in shower also! The breakfast was exceptional the host even nicer! The internet connection is strong, there is a smart tv also! The upstairs room had a small balcony overlooking the green outside it was very relaxing! 10/10! I would return anyday!

The nicest host ever and most beautiful room. Everything was really nicely decorated and high quality. Deepal (the host) was so helpful and couldn’t do enough for us. The breakfast was amazing and brought to our veranda every morning at the time we arranged. We had a nice hotel organised for our stay but they turned out to be full so we booked Fair view cottage instead and couldn’t be happier with how it worked out.

The view was amazing and the welcome was great. Very helpful staff! Our driver was cautious about the road so a member of staff carried our cases to him, impressive. It rained heavily and the placement can get slippery so keep your balance. It is down a side road so if you are a solo traveller keep that in mind. This was a great place for a great price. Breakfast on the balcony was a nice touch and we saw a giant squirrel which we haven't seen before.

Due to the weather the room was quite cold and the heater did not work. (It's an AC heat converter)

This is a great place to stay. 5 minute walk from the main strip in Ella, but also very quiet with a great view. The owner and staff are so friendly and helpful, and can’t do enough for you. The breakfast is unbelievable and fresh. The rooms are very spacious with everything you need, and the beds comfy. Highly recommended!

Exceptional service, very easy to arrange transport and tours from the hotel. I would also recommend using the guide available. Ella rock was great and also ask about the cooking class. They don't advertise this. Breakfast was exceptional. The accommodation is modest but comfortable.

There is some noise from the neighbouring backpackers place. There are some stairs to get up where some people may struggle with. Plenty of eating options close by.

Ausblick in das Tal mit vielen Bäumen. Nah beim Zentrum und dennoch sehr ruhig.

Türen sind nicht komplett dicht, deshalb war es bei Regenwetter feucht im Cottage.

Die Unterkunft war wirklich schön, vor allem der Ausblick von unserem Balkon hat einem dem Atem geraubt. Auch konnte man morgens auf genau diesem Balkon frühstücken, mit dem View auf den Dschungel, man konnte Tiere beobachten und den Morgen einläuten. Das Frühstück war vielfältig, sehr frisch und lecker. Da bleibt niemand hungrig. Das Personal war außerordentlich nett und hilfsbereit - sie haben uns geholfen, die Koffer die steilen Treppen hoch und runter zu tragen. Es gab warmes Wasser, Ersatzzahnbürsten und es wurde Tee & Kaffee inkl. Wasserkocher bereitgestellt.

Da Ella sehr hoch liegt, und wir auch abends immer Regen hatten, hat es sich in der Unterkunft recht ‚klamm‘ angefühlt - man hat die hohe Luftfeuchtigkeit auch drinnen gespürt. Das war nicht so unsers. Schlimmel gab es jedoch keinen!! Man konnte außerdem leider abends draußen nicht mit Licht sitzen, da binnen 10 Sekunden alle Mücken und Falter des Dschungels da waren 🥲 Was mir als Frau fehlte war ein Fön. Das wäre noch toll.

Das Cottage liegt abseits des Trubels und doch ist man in ca. 8 Gehminuten im Zentrum. Es war sehr sauber und der Besitzer hat sich bestens um uns gekümmert. Wir konnten über ihn Scooter mieten und auch eine Safari buchen. Zudem gibt es einen Wäsche-Service, der jedoch ein klein wenig überteuert scheint. Das Frühstück lässt keine Wünsche offen, wir haben diesen Aufenthalt sehr genossen!

Es könnten noch Moskitonetze angebracht werden

Prachtig huisje, prachtig uitzicht, lief en behulpzaam personeel, bedden goed en ontbijt heerlijk. Niets op aan te merken, voelde luxe. Zeer aan te bevelen, je krijgt zeker geen spijt. Volgens mij is er geen mooier uitzicht dan op deze plek in Ella. Een oase van rust, en enkele minuten lopen naar de gezelligheid. Goede massage gelijk als je het straatje uit komt, en veel aapjes.

De douche bleef niet continu warm. Maar de rest maakte alles goed.

El acceso a las Villas es a través de unas escaleras difíciles. No apto para personas con problemas de movilidad.

Wir wurden von Riyash sehr herzlich empfangen. Das Cottage ist nicht sehr groß aber sehr gemütlich. Jeden Morgen gab es auf unserer Terrasse ein tolles Sri Lankisches Frühstück. Dabei hatten wir einen traumhaften Ausblick. Die Tipps von Riyash sowohl was Restaurants, Wanderungen als auch einen Termin bei einer tollen Ayurvedischen Massage betrifft, waren ausgesprochen hilfreich. Riyash angenehme und freundliche Art hat unseren Aufenthalt außergewöhnlich gemacht. Wir können Fair View Cottage wärmsten weiterempfehlen.

I loved my stay at Fair View! Rooms - I got upgraded to the family cottage - marvellous! Was bigger than my apartment in Sydney, very clean and well appointed. I loved dining on the balcony in the jungle/ overlooking the hills of Ella. (Plus great wifi) Location - quick walk to main road shops and the main town, plus a fun walk up the many hills of Ella. Staff - Riyash (the on site manager) was fantastic! He was so helpful with organising activities and had lots of recommendations. His cooking is phenomenal and he even gave me a cooking lesson and we made dinner together. Was wonderful getting to know him and he completely made my trip in Ella! Was one of my best experiences in Sri Lanka.

Nice and very clean little cabins surrounded by trees

The access is quite hard, with those unexpected big steps to get to the cabins.

The breakfast was delicious and the staff were incredible -- do the cooking class! The hot water wasn't always super hot but the rest of the room, location, and vibes make up for it.

There was good communication with Prasanna before we arrived, and the breakfast was exceptional, particularly the hoppers. The location is very central, which does mean there is noise from surrounding bars at times, but this didn't interrupt our sleep.

The wooden bridge and uneven concrete steps up to the cottage make this an unsuitable location for anyone with mobility problems.

Ein Gefühl von Glamping! Mit allem ausgestattet, was man benötigt. Super nettes Personal, sehr sauber, tolles Frühstück, sehr schöner Ausblick. Das Warmwasser muss ca 10 Minuten vor Nutzung angeschaltet werden, funktioniert dann aber super, auch mit sehr gutem Druck. W-lan ist top.

Der Zugang zum cottage ist abenteuerlich, aber eine gute Vorbereitung für die Wanderung zur Nine-arch-bridge. Wir waren glücklich, dass unsere Koffer aufs Zimmer gebracht wurden 😅

We sliepen met ons gezin in de 4persoons cottage. Het is architecturaal heel mooi en verzorgd. Goed gelegen dichtbij centrum Ella. De uitbater en personeel zijn super vriendelijk en hielpen ons en gaven tips voor uitstapjes.

De trap is wat steil. Lukte maar net voor onze kinderen van 7 en 9 jaar

Siamo stati due notti e la camera non è stata rifatta tra le due notti. C’è una scalinata molto ripida con gradini alti per raggiungere il nostro cottage. Colazione discreta. Doccia poco potente e tiepida.

Camera molto bella e moderna immersa Nel Verde in una posizione fantastica,, a cinque minuti a piedi dal Centro di Ella ma comunque tranquilla. É dotata di ogni comfort. Colazione molto Buona e varia. Personale veramente disponibile

A volte l'acqua calda della doccia si blocca ma é una cosa abbastanza comune in Sri lanka. Forse segnalerei che per accedervi bisogna fare un po' di scale abbastanza ripide. Per noi nessun problema ma magari per chi ha difficoltà motorie non é proprio il Massimo.

The family room was great! Two stories, both balconies (up and down) have a lovely veiw. Excellent bed with the best soft linen, good shower, everything so comfortable. Great breakfast served to the balcony with a choice of western or Sri Lankan. The manager was so nice and did everything he could to help. Nice and quiet, but close to the center. We recommend it!

Excellent cottage with everything you need: a refrigerator with free drinks, a hair dryer, TV, Internet, air conditioning. Excellent location, in the center, but at a small distance, so quiet and fresh. The main street with restaurants and bars is 5 minutes walk away. Very hospitable and polite owner. 🫶🏻

The water pressure in the shower is weak, but this is a problem for the whole town.

Loved everything about our stay... the views, the plentiful and delicious breakfast, the helpful host, the wildlife, the cottage itself. Even the towels were much better quality than coastal hotels and cabanas! The location was excellent and in the heart of Ella but away from the busy streets.

One of the most beautiful places I stayed at in Sri Lanka. It’s right in the center of Ella, yet located on a quiet side street surrounded by the lush greenery of the tropical forest. The little house has a large window that makes you feel completely immersed in nature. The space is well cared for, spotlessly clean, and fully equipped—with everything from a universal power adapter to a rain umbrella. I was supposed to stay for just one night but ended up staying for three. Breakfast can be either continental or Sri Lankan. The Sri Lankan option is generous and includes pancakes, bananas, pineapple, bread, omelette, lentil soup, freshly squeezed juice, and tea. It is served directly on your private balcony at a time you agree on with the host. The owner is one of the kindest people I’ve ever met. I was having trouble figuring out how to get back to Colombo by train for my return flight, and not only did he help me understand the bus options, but he also called the bus service himself and made the booking for me. I can only recommend this place!

Owned by kind and helpful people, this was the perfect stay for my friend and I whilst on our trip to Sri Lanka. It is a 10 min walk from the station which made it very convenient after getting the train. It is also located close to the walking trail heads! We also thoroughly enjoyed the outstanding breakfast included in our stay!

We really enjoyed our stay here. The location is great, and everything was clean, tidy, and modernly furnished. It was a pleasant surprise to find a fridge in the room, which is quite rare in Sri Lanka. The place is peaceful, the breakfast was satisfying, and the owner was very friendly and welcoming.
