We loved our stay at Chamodya. The view from the verandah is spectacular. It’s quiet and peaceful away from the main part of town but an easy and beautiful walk to all the main attractions. The breakfast was incredible! Thanks for a great stay

We had a wonderful 3 night stay here. One of the nicest things about our visit to Sri Lanka has been the family run guest houses we’ve stayed in and this was no exception. Very warm and friendly family who helped us organise all our activities and transfers. The view from the balcony is stunning and the breakfast is very generous and delicious. Great location - far enough away from Ella centre to reduce the noise but still walkable distance along the railway track (or a tuk tuk ride if you prefer)

The floors got wet from the fridge unit dripping and I nearly slipped and fell a few times. No AC as advertised but was OK. A little walk from town but I enjoyed the exercise!

Een super lieve familie die je met alles helpt! Heerlijk ontbijt. Het is 8 minuutjes lopen naar het centrum van Ella, waardoor je heerlijk in een rustige omgeving zit met mooi uitzicht vanaf je balkon, maar ook zo in het drukke centrumpje van Ella bent.

Excellent logement avec une vue magnifique. Les hôtes sont d’une gentillesse extrême, ils nous ont fait nous sentir chez nous, et nous ont conseillé tant sur les activités ( cours de cuisine trouvé par leur intermédiaire et tres bien ) que pour les bus. Le petit déjeuner qui nous a été servi était excellent. Je recommande !

El alojamiento está en un lugar tranquilo, a 5 minutos de la calle principal. El camino se ataja por las vías del tren. Las vistas son espectaculares y los dueños muy amables. El desayuno fue increíble y muy variado.

Accueil très chaleureux de toute la famille. Très bienveillante et propose un excellent petit déjeuner. Nous avons également pris un dîner, nous nous sommes régalés. L'emplacement est idéal à l'écart de la ville et avec vue face à la montagne. Nous recommandons cette guesthouse !

Amazing hotel! The landscape from the room is stunning. The rooms are big, comfortable and clean. All the stay was fantastic. And the breakfast was delicious! I recommend this place for anyone staying in Ella.

The night view was awesome from our room. The personnel, well they are actually the owners were super warm, attent and professional. Food is great and portions are super big.

Der Ausblick vom Balkon war traumhaft schön auf die Berge. Die Zimmer waren schön groß. Das Frühstück war super und die Gastgeber sehr freundlich.

Wir wurden herzlich empfangen, sehr leckeres Frühstück, auf alle Bedürfnisse wurde eingegangen. Die Dame des Hauses hat uns günstige Scooter vermittelt. Wir würden wiederkommen

Emplacement au calme avec une vue incroyable, sur la montagne, les oiseaux , écureuils et parfois les singes. Très bien situé pour visiter Ella et les alentours même s’il vaut mieux grimper en tuk tuk. Petits déjeuners locaux super bons, hôtes sympathiques et qui peuvent vous conseiller. Il y’a même un petit réfrigérateur dans la chambre. Super!

Loved our stay here. The view from the property is gorgeous. Nice big rooms and a great breakfast every morning. Close to Ella whilst also getting lovely views. Would recommend!

Zimmer leider etwas herabgekommen, speziell das Badezimmer. Wenn man sich duscht, rinnt das ganze Wasser an der Spüle und am WC vorbei bis es in den Abfluss gelangt. Leider schon etwas außerhalb des Zentrums, ungefähr 15min steiler Fußmarsch oder ungefähr 800Rps mit dem Tuktuk.

The view from this homestay is truly spectacular and breathtaking. The homestay has everything you need and the breakfasts were excellent. The hosts were very hospitable and kind.

The views from our room were sensational. Amazing breakfast every day & the loveliest family taking care of you! Walking distance to Ella is close, & the homestay is far enough out of the centre of the hustle to be super quiet.

Great stay at Chamodya Homestay. The family that runs the place are great and very attentive. The breakfast was incredible. Quick and easy walk to the town for dinner. Quiet and wifi worked great. Would definitely stay here again .

The view from the rooms, its so magical we didn't want to leave our rooms just wanted to stay there watching the hills and the waterfalls. Room was great for the price, very clean and neat.. breakfast is excellent with wide varieties, we especially loved the string hoppers with dhal and coconut sambhal. The staff were great they helped us in arranging tuktuks, cabs whenever needed and helped us with veggies while we were cooking food for our kid. Absolute value for money.

Nothing.. many be just the road leading to the stay is a bit small and bumpy, but for the views we get, not complaining

This place is a 10 out of 10! I highly recommend a stay. The family running it is incredibly friendly, the views are the best you will ever get for the price. The breakfast was amazing!! All in all it was our best stay in Sri Lanka.

Die Lage und das Zimmer sind Top. Die Familie ist super nett und sehr hilfsbereit. Zum Frühstück kann man wählen was man haben möchte. Sehr lecker. Abendessen kann man neben an. Hier hat der Bruder des Besitzers auch ein Resort und Restaurant . Das Abendessen war super lecker . Sehr empfehlenswert.

The view is the most beautiful thing! You can watch the sunrise from the room! About 15 minutes walking to the city, so it’s very calm. The staff was amazing and welcomed us with juice and helpful about directions. The view is really so beautiful and the room is very nice.

Sometimes the cold water ran out but on the plus side there is always hot water!

Piękny widok z okna oraz bardzo czysty pokój. Ciszą i spokój a do centrum Ella idzie się z Górki 10 min :) bardzo polecam!

Prachtige splinternieuwe kamer met heerlijk groot bed. Het uitzicht is geweldig. Kleine 10 min lopen naar de drukte van Ella, hier helemaal sereen. Vuurvliegjes gezien op de terugweg. Bijeneters vanaf het balkon. Lekker ontbijt en super vriendelijke eigenares. Wat wil je nog meer. Boeken!

I would 100% recommend this place for a stay in Ella! This was our best stay throughout our vacation in Sri Lanka. The location couldn‘t be better, it‘s quiet and only max 10min walk to the center. The view from our room was amazing just looking directly on the mountains! Breakfast was great and the owners were extremly nice!

Some drivers might not be able to get you there, but host was able to transfer us for the last km by tuk tuk, free of charge

I loooved my stay. Waking up to Ella Rock every morning was so nice, could hang out reading a book there all morning. And the breakfast was delicious. It felt very cozy and homey. The owners and the entire household are so warm.

We stayed at Chamodya’s 3 nights with our 12 years old son. We enjoyed being out of the noisy crowded main road at night. It is reachable by a 10 minutes walking to the very busy center of Ella or 3 minutes tuk tuk. Rooms are simply furnished but comfortable and clean for a reasonable price. The bonus is the amazing view from the room of the jungle and waterfall.

Our room was a bit grubby, and our arrival was unexpected, despite having been booked 5 months before! I had to produce my booking confirmation!

Excellent accueil dans cette petite pension familiale. Bien située à Ella, proche de la gare et du centre (10 minutes à pied). Egalement pratique pour la randonnée du Ella's rock. Chambre très propre, bonne literie.

Proximité avec le centre d’Ella (en tuktuk avec un enfant de 3 ans) mais tout en étant au calme Vue spectaculaire sur la vallée Petits déjeuners complets Chambre spacieuse Hôtes très accueillants

Prévoir des boules quies pour ceux qui sont sensibles au bruit car ce n’est pas bien isolé, on peut entendre la nuit les animaux (chiens qui aboient)

La vue est magnifique C’est calme et un peu à l’écart du centre d’Ella. Repas tres bons (épicé)

Le soir si vous voulez aller manger en ville la route est assez sombre et montante descendante.

Lily and her family welcomed us with hot drinks as we arrived in the rain, then arranged curry at her brother's homestay. Tips on where to go, arranged tuc tuc to Temple up in the hills. Arranged laundry and clean towels when dampness wouldn't dry. After our transport refused to pick us up as not on main road arranged tuc tuc and paid for it to our vehicle. Went over and above, so kind.

The room was hot and the place is modest however it is expected since it is a home stay. The toilet needs upgrading but once again for a quick stay it is more than enough

Wonderful views from the room & terrace outside, the room was comfortable and spacious, and we slept well. It was only a short walk or tuk tuk ride back from the centre of Ella, but the Chamodya was far more relaxing. The staff were very helpful and they prepared a very tasty breakfast.

The only minor complaints were that the room could have done with extra door handles on the inside of the bathroom and main door, as it was difficult to open/close them using just the small lock to hold on to. Also a small reading light next to the bed would help to avoid having to get up to turn off the big light at night. But otherwise everything else was great!

Las vistas a las montañas increibles. Habitacion bastante limpia salvo el baño. La ubicacion parece alejada del centro pero andando a traves de las vias del tren llegas en 5 minutos al centro.

Panorama meraviglioso dalla veranda. Stanza spaziosissima e confortevole. Proprietaria meravigliosa: ci ha accolti con del tè, ci ha dato ottimi consigli per il nostro soggiorno, si è assicurata che non ci mancasse niente

L’accueil exceptionnel et la gentillesse des hôtes. La vue imprenable devant laquelle on savoure son petit déjeuner, qui est très généreux et préparé maison par les hôtes.

L’emplacement est à 15min à pied de Ella Road avec plusieurs descentes et montées. Mais cela se fait bien en marchant ou en prenant un tuk tuk.

Hosts were so sweet and always prepared. The serves breakfast was delicious and the location is 7 minutes to the main city. The view from the balcony is breathtaking and you are a short drive to hiking little Adams peak as well.

A clean large simple room with large bed and extra bed for son. The owners are very sweet and helpful. We really enjoyed our stay. The views are stunning it’s a 50-1000 roupee tuk tuk to town or you can walk along railway track.

Very beautiful place outside the busy city centre ! A lovely place with spacious clean rooms and a large balcony with a stunning view on Ella’s mountains. The staff is very kind and the breakfast is delicious. We really appreciated the localisation that was a perfect start point for all the famous and beautiful hikes in Ella !

20 minutes by walk from the city center. But completely worth it if you’re looking for a quiet place with a stunning view on Ella’s mountains. That’s something that you can’t easily have if you’re located in the busy center :)

My stay at this place was truly unforgettable! Perched on the hills of Ella with a jaw-dropping view over the valley and a nearby waterfall, this hotel was wonderful, and waking up to that panorama every morning was pure magic. The homemade breakfast was exceptional (hearty Sri Lankan favorites like egg hoppers, coconut pancakes, fresh fruit, and local specialties) all served on the terrace with that incredible backdrop. My room was clean, comfortable, and the balcony was the perfect peaceful retreat. The family-like hosts were warm, attentive, and made me feel completely at home from day one. If you're searching for a serene escape with stunning views and delicious home-cooked breakfasts, Chamodya is an absolute gem.

WiFi can be a bit slow at times, and getting to the property requires a 10–15 minute uphill walk from the center—but the stunning view at the top makes it totally worth it. The houses are designed with open vents for natural airflow; as long as you're mindful with the mosquito nets, it's easy to keep mosquitoes, bugs, lizards, and other critters out.

The location and views from balcony were lovely. The flora and fauna around was magical. Breakfast was good and plentiful. Tea served in china teapots was perfect. Staff were helpful

Woke up before daybreak and just listen to the sounds of nature. Walk along the railway track to the centre of town, a unique experience. Homemade egg hoppers that need at least 2 hours to be freshly made. Exhilarating tuk tuk ride to and from this lovely place. Swapped inconsequential life stories with our hostess as we learn more about each other’s life experiences.

Solar powered water heater only works well if you are the only guest at this 5-room property.

The most amazing homestay in Sri Lanka! We spent 5 nights here (extended our stay). The location is perfect - about a 10 min walk into town along the tracks. The view is amazing overlooking Ella rock and extremely peaceful. The room is spacious and clean - the bathroom is basic but clean and has hot water for those colder nights in Ella. The family that run the accommodation are very kind and also serve an excellent breakfast. I hope to return one day!

The view! The room was on -1 level and had a perfect view at the mountains. Imagine sitting there and sipping freshly squeezed juice, it was just perfect. It is a family run property and you feel very welcomed there from the moment you enter. Breakfast was really superb, freshly made and with such variety of food and fruits that one person cannot eat it all. The fresh juice is just a cherry on top

The views were absolutely breathtaking! Breakfast is very generous in size and was delicious. Staff all very helpful. Room was very clean. Google Maps will take you on a 20/25 minute walk from the centre of Ella which is very hilly & steep (in both directions!!). Staff advised us there is a shortcut along the railway tracks which means it's 10/15 minutes to the main street. I would recommend making sure you have a torch to navigate either route.
