Jungle Face Inn

Wir waren als vierköpfige Familie dort und haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Die Location ist wirklich etwas besonderes. Die Besitzer waren sehr nett und zuvorkommend. Das Frühstück ist selbst gemacht und sehr liebevoll. Die Lage ist ein wenig außerhalb, aber der Besitzer ruft jederzeit ein TucTuc. Dafür ist es aber im Wald/ Dschungel wunderschön gelegen und, bis auf die Tiere und den potentiellen Regen, ruhig.

Geweldig om hier te slapen. Je waant je midden in de jungle en ziet overal apen, vogels, eekhoorns etc. Maar met een paar minuten zit je in het centrum Van Ella. Het was superschool, hele vriendelijke gastheer en gastvrouw. We sliepen hier twee nachten. Heerlijk en uitgebreid ontbijt met lokaal eten, lekkere pannenkoeken met kokossuiker, verse sapjes en vers fruit. Echt top!!

Con i nostri figli di 12 e 8 anni abbiamo soggiornato due notti in questa palafitta in legno molto graziosa totalmente immersa nella vegetazione. Sotto la struttura un area relax con amaca e giochi da tavolo. Le camere e il bagno erano molto spaziose e pulite e ogni piano con un terrazzino dove rilassarsi ed ascoltare i suoni della natura. Per raggiungere l'abitazione c'è un sentiero in salita con molti gradini per noi non è stato faticoso. A 5 minuti d'auto dal centro di Ella. Il proprietario e la sua famiglia sono stati molto cordiali, sorridenti e gentili, con cura ogni mattina ci hanno preparato una gustosa e abbondante colazione. Grazie di cuore per la vostra ospitalità.

Cabane dans les arbres fantastique et tout confort. Quel bonheur de chiller sur la mezzanine. Notre meilleur hébergement du séjour. Petit déjeuner copieux et excellent. Le patron est très gentil et à l'écoute.

Ein kleines Abenteuer, mitten in den Bäumen. Geräumig, heimelig, einzigartig! Und die einzige Unterkunft, die auch Spiele bereit gestellt hat. Wirklich ein schöner Ort. Der Inhaber hat uns die Koffer die steilen Treppen zur Unterkunft hinauf getragen und am Abend hat er uns mit seinem Auto in Ella abgeholt. Leckeres Frühstück, nette Menschen - wir empfehlen die Unterkunft wärmstens!

The man and his dad running this place were the best. Always so friendly and helpful... the dad showed us the way to the walk up Ella rock and took us to the beginning of the nine arch railway bridge walk.

Wir hatten als Familie zwei Zimmer in einer art Baumhaus. Es ist toll mitten im Jungel angelegt. Am Morgen kann man Affen und Vögel von der Veranda aus beobachten. Am Abend kann man auf der Veranda in den bequemen Sitzsäcken chillen. Die Gastgeber sind überaus nett und hilfsbereit! Tolles Frühstück... Ausserhalb vom Trubel von Ella. Toller Kochkurs in unmittelbarer nähe.

Wir waren erst überrascht, dass die beiden Zimmer nur über den Balkon verbunden sind (wir brauchten ein 5-Personen-Familienzimmer), aber man ist dort oben ganz allein und es hat uns dann nicht gestört, dass die Kinder in einem Zimmer und wir in dem anderen geschlafen haben. Die Leute sind total nett und haben uns gute Tipps gegeben. Es war sehr gemütlich und eine tolle Athmosphäre. Das Frühstück war sehr lecker, besonders die Egg hopper. Wir waren bei empfohlenen Secret Waterfall mit Abseiling und sehr begeistert.

Die Affen sind nicht vorbei gekommen. Das Restaurant am Fuss der Treppe war recht langsam. Es liegt etwas abseits und man braucht ein Fahrzeug, die Leute haben aber angeboten, uns zu fahren (wir hatten allerdings einen Fahrer und waren mit ihm unterwegs).

Nous avons loué la cabane familiale avec deux chambres séparées.

L accès est un peu compliqué car la cabane est en hauteur.

Kõige mugavam voodi, kus olen maganud Sri Lanka reisi jooksul (ja võibaolla kõikide reiside jooksul) - madrats, tekk, padi - ülihea uni + värske õhk. Võõrustajad armsad inimesed, kes loonud imelise atmosfääriga majutuse. Täiega äge :)!

Ein außergewöhnliches Ergebnis im Baumhaus mit viel Komfort. Der Besitzer ist extrem freundlich und hilfsbereit. Er hat uns gleich zum einen nahen Wasserfall begleitet fernab von Touristen, den wir allein sicherlich nicht gefunden hätten. Hat uns auch einen Fahrer mit einem TukTuk organisiert. Vielen Dank!

Die Unterkunft liegt eine kleine Passstraße unterhalb von Ella. Perfekter Ausgangspunkt für den Ella Rock. Zudem gibt es einen kleinen Bach. Hier kann man direkt zu einem Wasserfall laufen und dort baden. Für den Adams Peak und andere Sehenswürdigkeiten benötigt man ein Tuck-Tuck, hier hilft der Besitzer und sorgt für wirkliche faire Preise. Die Unterkunft ist sehr sauber und gepflegt. Das Frühstück ist abwechslungsreich und definitiv das Beste unserer Sri Lanka Reise. Zum Abendessen sind wir immer in der Unterkunft geblieben da es unglaublich lecker war.

Très bel hébergement dans les arbres, au milieu de la nature. Placé un peu en retrait du centre de Ella, il est nécessaire d'y aller en TukTuk. Le petit déjeuner préparé avec beaucoup d'application était très bon.

You feel like you are in the jungle with the constant orchestra of birds. The owner was extremely friendly and helpful. The included breakfast was amazing. Ella and the surrounding area was a great place to explore, particularly little Adams peak and a local tea factory.

At night the feeling of being in the jungle can be a bit different as you hear scuttling animals close by, but thankfully not in our room. Our kids weren't bothered by this though.

Logement atypique : 2 nuits passées en cabane perchée dans la jungle. Chambre propre et bien équipée. Propriétaire discret mais très sympathique. Repas de qualité à prix raisonnables. De très nombreux animaux (notamment des écureuils) se baladent sur les lieux.

Un point d'attention : les cabanes sont situées juste à côté d'une grande cascade qui s'avère très bruyante surtout la nuit

Great treehouse accommodation, a lovely owner who was very helpful. He arranged tuk tuks, gave us a lift to little Adam’s peak and arranged our transport for on onward journey. It was only a short tuk tuk ride from town.

Wat een gave plek! Een mooie boomhut, zo verzorgd en prachtig, en lieve gastheer, spreekt goed engels. 5 min met tuktuk naar stadje Ella. Lopen zou berg op zijn, zou ik voor dat geld (600 lkr=1,5 euro) en die 20-30min, niet overwegen. Echt een aanrader om hier te slapen tijdens een verblijf in Ella.

Wat n zalig plekje om te verblijven. Weg van de drukte van Ella en naast het stromende water. Je voelt je echt te midden van de jungle. Gespot aapjes, de kleine en de reuze eekhoorn en vuurvliegjes.

Fabulous unique tree house accommodation with an amazing host family. The breakfasts each morning were the best breakfasts we had in sri lanka. Ela was an easy tuk tuk ride away. Highly recommended.

The stairs to get to the rooms are well worth the effort but this is probably not the best place for anyone with mobility issues.

Very comfortable beds and spacious rooms tucked up in the trees a little way out of Ella (5 mins in tuk tuk). Excellent breakfasts and hosts would highly recommend for something a bit different from the norm.

I can’t speak highly enough about the family who run the place! Very friendly, helpful and kind. Breakfast was always delicious and abundant (we had to stop food being made there was so much to eat). Ravana cave is a short walk away from the property.

We loved being outside the city of Ella- short Tul til ride up the hill to Ella and all the green was beautiful! The breakfast was delicious and a lot of food for my 6 hungry kids! The egg hoppers, daal and sambol were very good!! The washed our laundry and got all our dirty clothes - for a reasonable price! We also ate one dinner here and it was 4 different veggie curries- delicious and affordable! Thank you!!

Wonderful location up in the trees

One of the best places I've been in my whole trip around Sri Lanka! The place is stunning: a kind of tree house where where the minimum detail is curated. Even if it's just a couple of km away from the town this place is quite and peaceful, sourranded by a beautiful garden with a variety of plants and trees. Far from the crowd, it's a gift for any nature lover who can appreciate the birds singing, small and big squirrels and eventually some monkey playing around. The room has everything you need and the bed is so comfy that you'll never want to sleep elsewhere! The homemade breakfast was really really tasty and with huge portions. Last but not the least: the entire family is so kind and helpful and it really goes above and beyond any expectations to make you feel comfortable and welcome. When I'm arrived, knowing I didn't have dinner, they have prepared for me a the that was more likely an entire meal and when I left (sigh!) Madam came with me to the bus stop, making sure I was getting into the right bus. I'll never be able to thank them enough for such a perfect stay, I wish I could have stayed longer. Thanks soooo much for everything! I absolutely loved staying with you!

A wonderful place. Such friendly hosts who really made us feel at home. A true jem of a location, you look out right onto the trees and we had monkeys, giant tree squirrels and lots of birds right outside which was amazing. Incredible breakfasts and dinners. Right on the path too to climb up Ella rock which was very useful!

meals were excellent and the location really is like being in a "jungle" with trees and birds surrounding you! I am putting this here, however, because it's not something I didn't like - just reality - there are 70 stairs to climb to get to the room....it's worth it for the quiet and the nature, but do take this into consideration.

We are an israeli family with 3 kids and spent 8 days at jungle face inn and we can say its one of the best hosts we ever had. The family was generous and helped us with everything, rooms were clean, breakfest and dinner were great, and the best thing is the beautiful surrondings, in the middle of a jungle next to a river, with monkeys and squirles and many birds around.and last thing we loved ruby, the family's dog. We highly recommend this great and hope to come back. Thanks for the beautiful experience!

For us everything was perfect. You should know its 7-8 minutes drive in a tuk tuk to ella town. We think its fine because its more fun being in nature and not in ella's guest houses roadf

Absolutely amazing place! Feels like in the jungle. Birds and giant squirrels can observed from the house terrace. We had a treehouse with 2 bedrooms on the upper floor and open dining area underneath. Delicious breakfast with local pancakes, roti, dhal and fruits (plus eggs). Property is located few meters from the beginning of Ella's Rock trail - very convenient. Lots of stairs to access the house, which might be a problem if you do not like hiking (no problem with luggage - everything is brought for you). We loved it as it gives a feeling of being in the nature and wild.

It is not for everyone, not a five star hotel! There are a lot of steers up to the room and it’s not so easy with children when it rains, and boy did it rain!

We loved staying in the treehouse and watching the monkeys. It was so clean and comfortable and the breakfast and dinner were both really tasty. Our hosts really looked after us, thank you! We had booked two rooms so we had the whole treehouse to ourselves ( one room has one double bed, the other has two double beds). We have been travelling around Sri Lanka and have stayed in lots of different places and this was definitely our favourite.

Cozy rooms, nice view from the balcony and through the large window from the inside, hot shower and - most of all - the stunning breakfast (was maybe the best on our whole trip (loved the dhal very much). The owner and his family are very lovely people and the hotel is located outside of the busy town centre.

The location was wonderful,bird life and animals included giant squirrels, hornbills, paradise flycatchers. Cheap tuktuk to Ella. Breakfast excellent. Tree house experience unique.

We were fine but access would not be suitable for elderly. 60 stone steps to get to property. Then steep wooden steps up to tree house.

The breakfast was absolutely amazing, the owner superfriendly, lovely location where you are in one with nature. Would absolutely recommend to a friend and am definitely coming back!

The treehouse family villa was absolutely fantastic - two secluded rooms nextdoor to each other, one with double bed and the other with 3 singles, each with bathrooms with hot showers. It’s run by a lovely family, the son, Nethmal, could not have done more to make our stay enjoyable. We arrived by train to Ella and it’s a 500R tuk tuk ride to Jungle face Inn, then each time you want to go into town it’s another 500R tuk tuk or a fun bus ride! We loved the fact that it was set apart from the town because it is so peaceful, literally in the jungle with monkeys and giant squirrels around. The treehouse was only built recently so is of excellent standard, there is also another older treehouse nearby but it was set apart so we never even saw the other guests - perfect place for a relaxing, secluded stay.

We loved our stay here. The building has been constructed with great attention to detail and was a hidden delight. The breakfasts were amazing, local delicacies, and the one time we had a vegetarian Sri Lankan evening meal we were delighted. As we stayed only two nights we thought we should try Ella on the other evening but this was not a reflection of the standard of the home cooking. The breakfasts spoilt us for our next holiday destination as it could not compete! The staff were extremely friendly and kind.

The cobbles on the floors of the wet rooms could have been a bit more rounded so as to make them more comfortable for bare feet.

Everything was beautiful! Up in the trees, but with home comforts. The staff (a family) were wonderful! We had a lot of itinerary changes, and requested food for when we arrived late (we had the late Kandy to Ella train). Nothing was too much for them, and everything was done with a smile on their faces! Hugely recommend for SO many reasons - I’m so sad we could only stay one night, but we will be back. Exceptional place to stay with the waterfall in the background!

A beautiful tree house nestled in the jungle which is run by a lovely and very helpful family. On arrival our bags were carried to our room. Each morning we received a beautiful breakfast so big it could feed an army! The family were very helpful with recommendations, transfer bookings and even did laundry for a small charge. I would definitely recommend a stay here for a unique experience.

5 minute tuk tuk required to get to the main Ella town otherwise you'll find yourself doing a 40 minute uphill walk. Also be aware there are lots of steps to the treehouse if you have any mobility issues.

We absolutely loved our stay at Jungle Face Inn, it is a brand new apartment in the nature and in reality it is WAY better than the pictures! They welcomed us with a welcome drink and the breakfast that we had at the place was absolutely amazing! Honestly an amazing place if you look for a peaceful stay in nature. It is 1.5k far from the city centre but we had a scooter and did not have any problem.

Absolutely beautiful! The room is super nice, very clean and you have a spectacular view right into the jungle! It’s such a cool place to stay! The hosts are also very nice and friendly and the breakfast, which was included in the price was simply amazing!

What a fab place to stay when visiting Ella! Small (just 2 rooms) yet full of character. We had a tree growing through our room, and saw monkeys, a mongoose, and a giant squirrel just feet away. The hosts are super friendly and helpful, and put on a great traditional breakfast (bread, dhal, fruit, omelette / hoppers / pancakes, fresh juice). If you want somewhere that’s close enough to ‘Ella Strip’ to feel amongst things, yet far enough away to be peaceful, Jungle Face Inn is ideal. Standard price for a tuk tuk each way was 500 Rupees. Access from the road is via a few steps, but don’t let that put you off - it is well worth it.

Beautiful location, spotlessly clean, friendly hosts

The owners son was extremely friendly and helpful. Always greeted us with lovely smile and served a wonderful breakfast. The room was very clean and comfortable with full sized mosquito nets over very comfrrtable beds. Also had a fridge and tea/coffee making facilties. It was lovely sitting outside on the wooden balcony watching the glow flies at night high up in the trees. Very peaceful.

It is a little way out of town but that wasn't a problem as there's a bus stop right outside at the bottom of the lane or its 500r in a tuc tucker. There was nothing we didn't like about staying here

I love it! The tree houses are big and comfortable, I even woke up earlier in the morning just to enjoy the fresh air in the jungle. The room is big enough and the washroom too, water is hot and AC is cooling. The owner and his son helped us for carrying our luggages up, so it was not an issue for us with the stairs.

There were monkeys jumping on the roof of our house during the night. The wifi was not working properly.

A lovely location in the trees a short distance from Ella. The staff here are very friendly - as is the dog Ruby! A great breakfast and a peaceful place to sit on a deckchair and listen to the sounds of the forest. Well worth staying at.

The animals were not intrusive, but fun to watch. Great location because it was quiet but a very short tuk tuk ride to the town centre.

Jungle Face Inn is an amazingly well thought out space with clean rooms and excellent service from the staff who are more than happy to accommodate every request. Breakfast was huge and amazing. I would have to say its the best roti and pancakes we have had in our 12 days in Sri Lanka so far.

Lovely hosts. We stayed in the Nature Woodland accommodation. The room was great, nice views and a short tuk tuk ride into town. The hosts were so helpful, kind and fun. We ate dinner and breakfast here, both were really nice, very tasty homecooked curry for dinner. Would recommend for an authentic Sri Lankan hospitality experience.
