B&B Royal Swans - Adults-Only Boutique Stay in Bruges

Lovely B&B around 20 minutes walk to the centre. Griet and Maarten could not have been more welcoming. They provided lots of information prior to our trip and Griet took time on arrival to share lots of information and tips. There was a delicious homebaked treat made by Maarten on our return each day. The nut pie was our favourite! Great choice for breakfast, ordered the day before and delivered to the door each morning. The nearby free parking, a few minutes walk away, was a great bonus. Can't fault our stay, it made our Bruges visit perfect.

Wir waren das zweite mal hier und sind von dem ganzen Konzept begeistert. Die Inhaber sind so toll, die kleinen Aufmerksamkeiten sind immer so lecker. Hier passt einfach alles.

Da gibt es nichts

Fantastisch hoe behulpzaam onze host Griet en Maarten zijn geweest. We konden met alle vragen terecht en er is ons op het einde vervoer aangeboden om iets uit te kunnen printen en we zijn naar het station in Brugge gebracht. Gastvrijheid staat hier centraal, en dat merk je!

Het kussen dat we hadden was erg on comfortabel (ik verwacht voor de prijs die we betaald hebben wel een beetje meer kwaliteit prijs verhouding) echter na de vraag gesteld te hebben om een steviger kussen te krijgen werd dit zonder meer gelijk geregeld, erg fijn :). Mijn vriendin liet ook haar telefoon vallen waardoor ik kort onder ons bed keek, en tot mijn verbazing was het erg stoffig. Gezien we eerder in ons appartement terecht konden is dit waarschijnlijk over geslagen, het zag er echter wel uit als stof dat er wat langer lag dan een paar weken.

Nuestra estadía en B&B Swan fue maravillosa. La habitación es muy espaciosa, cómoda y estaba impecablemente limpia. Se nota el cuidado que ponen en cada detalle. Algo que también nos sorprendió gratamente fue que arreglan la habitación durante la estadía. Cada vez que regresábamos, encontrábamos la habitación arreglada y todo en su lugar. Para nosotros fue un detalle excelente, especialmente porque no es algo que normalmente esperamos encontrar en un B&B. Algo que nos encantó fue el desayuno. Cada mañana dejan el desayuno en la puerta y el día anterior te dan una lista con diferentes alternativas para que puedas escoger exactamente lo que deseas. Hay frutas, panes, carnes, huevos y muchas otras opciones. Todo estaba excelente y el detalle de recibirlo en la puerta hace que la mañana comience de una manera muy agradable. La habitación también cuenta con un pequeño espacio muy conveniente con microondas, fregadero, cubiertos y neverita. Para una estadía de varios días, esto resulta súper práctico. Los anfitriones son maravillosos. Su atención está llena de pequeños detalles, mensajes y mucha disposición para ayudarte. Se preocupan genuinamente por que tu estadía sea lo mejor posible y, si necesitas algo, hacen todo lo que está a su alcance para ayudarte a conseguirlo. Ese tipo de atención hace una gran diferencia. Como única sugerencia, y lo digo con mucho respeto porque me he hospedado en más de 150 hoteles, sería estupendo tener uno de esos pequeños soportes para colocar la maleta y poder abrirla cómodamente. Es un detalle pequeño, pero haría la habitación todavía más práctica. El estacionamiento del B&B está cerca, aunque no se encuentra dentro de la propiedad. Para nosotros no fue un inconveniente. El B&B está bastante cerca del centro de Brujas, aunque hay que hacer una caminata para llegar.

Wonderful hosts, breakfast delivered to our room & in a great location for a free parking space with just a short walk to the centre. We had a fabulous time & felt very looked after - would love to come back!

The WiFi was not 100%

Nous mettons notre séjour au B&B Royal Swans dans le top de nos séjours. Tout était parfait, la chambre très confortable, le petit déjeuner juste exceptionnel, la situation géographique à 20min à pied de l'hyper centre avec une possibilité de parking gratuit à côté mais ce qui fait vraiment la différence c'est Griet et Maarten qui sont juste aux petits soins pour leurs pensionnaires, que ce soit au travers de petites attentions ou de conseils de visite.

Es ist ein absoluter Geheimtipp. Das Appartement war super schön und stilvoll mit ganz tollen vintage Möbel eingerichtet. Gleichzeitig war das Bad mit Dusche top modern. Wir wurden von unserer bezaubernden Gastgeberin persönlich empfangen und mit vielen Tipps und Infos zu Brügge versorgt. Wir haben uns ab der ersten Minute herzlich empfangen gefühlt. Wir durften noch einen selbstgemachten Kuchen probieren. Das Frühstück ist unglaublichen lecker und so schön dargeboten. Die Lage ist super zentral, man kann Brügge problemlos zu Fuß erkunden. Das Gepäck kann man an der Haustüre ausladen und später das Auto sicher in den 200m entfernten öffentlichen und kostenlosen Parkplätzen abstellen. Wir waren schon viel unterwegs, aber eine solch wunderbare Unterkunft hatten wir noch nie.

Absolut gar nichts.

Camera molto bella, pulitissima. Ottima la colazione, graditissimi i dolci fatti in casa che trovavamo al rientro. Struttura veramente attenta agli aspetti ecologici: non un grammo di plastica in giro e massima attenzione al riciclo e allo spreco alimentare. Una parola speciale per Griet, la host, che parla della sua citta' con amore e conoscenza e che ti fa andare alla ricerca di angoli o guardare alle cose con occhi diversi. Consigliamo assolutamente. Attenzione pero': il centro e' a circa 1,5/1,8 km; bisogna aver voglia di fare due passi.

Alles was gewoon heel goed geregeld en dik in orde. Het concept om meubels een 2de leven te geven krijgt hier een prachtig resultaat! Ook de zelfgemaakte broodpudding, appeltaart en granola zijn een absolute aanrader.

Das B&B ist sehr gut gelegen, man kann zu Fuss in die Stadt. Die Einrichtung ist mit viel Liebe gestaltet. Die Gastgeber sind sehr freundlich und machen mit kleinen Aufmerksamkeiten (Dessert am Abend) den Aufenthalt sehr angenehm.

Das Zimmer war relativ klein.

Ich weiß gar nicht, wo ich anfangen soll. Wir kamen am Anreisetag bei großer Hitze an und wurden herzlich empfangen. Sofort gab es was kaltes zu trinken, ein kühles feuchtes Handtuch und einen super leckeren Kuchen. Da wir noch nie in Belgien waren, wurde uns auch gleich alles wichtige über Brügge erklärt und erzählt.Wir hatten ein Zimmer im Erdgeschoss mit kleiner Terrasse. Das Zimmer war sehr sauber und man hatte seine Ruhe. Das Frühstück stand zur vereinbarten Zeit auf einem kleinen Wagen vor dem Zimmer. Einen Tag vorher, gibt man seine Bestellung ab, was man frühstücken möchte und es steht am nächsten Tag wie gesagt vor der Tür. Highlight.... es war immer eine persönliche Nachricht mit auf dem Wagen und ein Gruß aus der Küche. Ebenso stand immer eine Aufmerksamkeit auf dem Zimmer, wenn man nach einem anstrengenden Tag wieder in das Hotel kam. Wir haben uns jeden Tag darauf gefreut, sowohl früh, als auch abends. Und diese Sachen waren alle so unfassbar lecker......vom Hotel aus ist man in 15 Minuten in der Stadt und trotzdem ist es sehr ruhig gelegen. Wir können die Unterkunft nur empfehlen.

Die Terrasse....da waren Fliesen locker und es war dreckig. Richtig viele Spinnweben an den Wänden und die Fliesen selber sahen dreckig und fleckig aus. Hat nicht so ganz zum Rest gepasst, der wirklich einmalig war.

Griet and Maarten were absolutely wonderful hosts. From the moment I arrived, they made me feel incredibly welcome, took the time to explain everything about the property, and shared helpful tips about the city, including the week’s highlights and places worth visiting. The property itself was truly unique, beautifully designed, and full of thoughtful details. To make the welcome even more special, they brought a homemade cake and refreshing cool towels. This is undoubtedly a place I would love to return to.

Hartelijke en warme ontvangst door Griet; ze nam ruim de tijd voor uitleg over allerlei activiteiten, bezienswaardigheden en een stukje geschiedenis over de stad. A.d.h.v. een stadsplattegrond werden we "wegwijs" gemaakt in Brugge; hier hebben we veel aan gehad! Verder elke dag iets extra's bij het ontbijt en bij terugkomst op de kamer; we hadden een echt vakantie gevoel! Kortom: SUPER!

Sehr freundliche Begrüßung und Betreuung während des Aufenthalts. Frühstück war super lecker und es gab immer noch kleine Extras. Wir haben sehr gut in dem bequemen Bett geschlafen. Die Lage ist sehr zu empfehlen, nicht ganz im Trubel, aber die Altstadt ist in Laufweite. Am besten lässt sich Brügge mit dem Fahrrad erkunden, da alles für Fahrräder ausgelegt ist. Es gibt sehr viel zu entdecken und wir kommen gerne wieder.

Wir wurden sehr herzlich von der Besitzerin empfangen. Sie hat uns die wichtigen Informationen über Brügge erzählt, somit konnten wir direkt starten. Unser Zimmer war sehr geschmackvoll, es hat uns an nichts gefehlt. Das Frühstück haben wir auf das Zimmer bekommen, welches mit liebevollen Details zubereitet wurde. Was wir gerne mögen und zu welcher Uhrzeit, konnten wir vorher angeben. Das Zimmer ist sehr ruhig und die Matratzen waren super. Beim nächsten Mal, werden wir dort wieder buchen.

Nothing - it was great!

Für einen romantischen Aufenthalt für ein paar Tage ist es im Royal Swan ideal. Die Einrichtung der Zimmer ist sehr schön und individuell , es gibt ein liebevoll zubereitetes Frühstück im Zimmer. Bei schönem Wetter auch im privatem Garten. Es sind unweit kostenlose Parkmöglichkeiten vorhanden und die Sehenswürdigkeiten von Brügge sind fussläufig zu erreichen. Die Gastgeber Griet und Maarten sind sehr herzlich und hilfsbereit. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt.

Die Sauberkeit, ruhige Lage, kostenloses parken, die vielen kleinen Aufmerksamkeiten der Gastgeber.

Mooie, nette kamer en badkamer. Heerlijk ontbijt op het dakterras. Mooi dat je het ontbijt kunt kiezen zodat er niet teveel verspilling is. Griet en Maarten zorgen voor een fijne, warme en persoonlijke touch. Het is in een rustige straat en je loopt in 15 min. naar het centrum van Brugge.

Excelente estadia no B&B Royal! Excelente anfitriã, muito competente na passagem de informação sobre a cidade e dicas de visita. Excelente pequeno-almoço, com flexibilidade para agendar a melhor hora para o pequeno-almoço diariamente. Surpreendidos diariamente com doces a meio da tarde quando chegávamos ao quarto :) Boas condições gerais do quarto. Bem localizado em bairro muito tranquilo, fora do centro histórico mas acessível através de curta caminhada!

Die Inneneinrichtung ist äußerst geschmackvoll. Die Gastgeber sind sehr herzlich, zuvorkommend und immer hilfsbereit. Das Frühstück ist täglich neu wählbar und wird zur gewünschten Zeit zum Zimmer gebracht.

I loved everything! Our room was beautiful, the owners went out of their way to make it special for us. Situated in a lovely and quiet area and also walking distance to everywhere you need to visit in Bruges. A beautiful breakfast was brought to our room every morning, with lovely positive notes to brighten our day, that was really sweet, also extra chocolates or homemade cakes as complimentary were given to us to sample each day. I can't wait to come back here 🫶

Beautiful rooms, breakfast and welcoming helpful hosts.

The room was very well equipped, decorated and clean. Unusually large bathroom for a B&B, as big as mine at home. Our breakfast, delivered in our room, was delicious and hearty. We were in a quiet neighborhood at 15 minutes walk from main city square. We were welcomed and treated like royalty by our hosts. We felt safe during our entire stay.

There was nothing not to love.

Attention to detail was amazing. The room was spotless, full of quirkiness and charm. A wonderful place to stay. The breakfast was exceptional. Again little details made it, inscriptions on the boiled eggs, salmon on a slate platter, milk and fresh orange in an old style bottle. I could not fault it. The host was lovely, a nice touch at the end of the stay was a little gift and a genuine request for anything that could be improved. We would not hesitate to return.

Our themed room was beautifully detailed as if we stepped into a wealthy home of long ago, yet with all the creature comforts of today! We chose our breakfast each night including home baked Breads, jams, and granola, and it was delivered outside our door at the time we chose on a quaint trolley with accouterments reminiscent of a high tea in a luxurious hotel. Much much more than a simple breakfast! Each afternoon we were surprised with a deli’s homemade baked sweet too! Any drink we could imagine was stocked in our mini fridge and of course we could make our coffee and tea served in gorgeous china cups.

We loved everything from the dried rosebud atop of face pads in a silver container to a kitchenette secreted in an antique wardrobe!

Griet and Maarten are exceptionally kind, helpful and generous hosts and provided a comfortable, cozy home base for our 6 night stay in Bruges. Their B&B is located in a quiet residential area about 15 min walk from town center. There is much to see in Bruges and beyond. After busy days of walking and exploring, we were happy to return to the Royal Swans which honestly seemed like home and there was always a delicious baked treat awaiting us! Having breakfast quietly wheeled to us on a trolley and left outside our door was convenient, a relaxing way to start the day and enjoy Maarten’s always delicious breakfasts.

Een oase van rust met de persoonlijke touch van Griet. De excellente bedden, de sfeervolle ambiance van de Lodewijk Gruuthuse kamer, een eigen en gemeenschappelijk groter terras met fijne meubelen.

Perfectie bestaat niet, maar dit komt akelig dicht in de buurt.

Excellent location in very quiet area, about 15 minute walk to centre of Bruges. Griet and Maarten are genuinely lovely people and have an exceptional property, very tastefully furnished with special attention to upcycling detail. Spotlessly clean throughout, we were short of nothing in our room, it even had a hidden kitchenette area with a microwave and fridge. Breakfast was beautifully presented (an amazing choice too) and left unobtrusively outside our room at times to our request- sweet treats were thoughtfully left in our room each day too. Griet gave us a really interesting and informative mini history of Bruges and its geography when we arrived - she made us feel as if we’d known her for ages. This is one of the best places we have stayed in on our many travels, we would not hesitate to recommend it.

Het was een super fijne B&B, waar duidelijk veel aandacht en liefde in zit. De service was perfect, net als het ontbijt.

We hebben heel erg genoten van ons verblijf bij Royal Swans. Zeer leuke en warme ontvangst, zelfs de kinderen die voor hun kamp nog even mee gingen inchecken, kregen een lekkere attentie. Zalig ontbijt op de kamer of indien gewenst in de mooie tuin, wat een leuke afwisseling was. En elke dag een lekkere verassing om naar uit te kijken bij terugkomst van onze fiets- of wandeltocht. Ook een zeer mooie kamer met veel oog voor detail. Wij hebben zeker de intentie om nog een keertje terug te komen om 1 van de andere kamers te ontdekken. Bedankt Griet en Maarten voor onze aangename week in Brugge.

The room was decorated beautifully and well laid out. Lovely clean bathroom. Access to the patio area which was a great relaxing spot. Breakfast was amazing and there were many extras that the hosts supplied during our time there. Communication before and during our stay was easy and prompt and the hosts gave lots of suggestions for things to do and places to go in Bruges.

Random traveler: "The perfect hospitality doesn't exist." Griet & Maarten from the Royal Swans: "Hold my (Belgian) beer..." I have been around, seen things and stayed places, whether 5 star hotels or cosy boungalows, but the care and attention from Griet and Maarten, the owners of the Royal Swans go well beyond usual hospitality. They are super nice folks who go out of their ways to make your stay unforgettable. And boy, do they have style! The pictures here do not lie: everything is refined and beautiful and high quality, the room decor as well as the the breakfast in the garden. They are full of valuable info and respond immediately to any sort of issues you may have. Surely, if you picky enough, you may find bits that aren't perfect, but the overall experience will make you forget about them completely. So, take my advice and if there is availability, book your stay real quick.

This is one of the best if not the best B&B we have stayed in. The hosts Griet and Maarten were very welcoming. The room was extremely comfortable and well appointed. The tea and coffee making facilities were perfect as were the thoughtful treats awaiting us on our return at the end of each day. Breakfast was delivered to our room, with items being chosen from a long list the previous day. The food included home made items. Our hosts were perfect, discrete but available if you needed them. Their attention to detail was impressive and added to what was a memorable experience. We arrived some what wet from having had to cycle for four hours in the rain. Griet did not bat and eye lid about us dripping water in her lovely B&B and found somewhere warm to dry our not so waterproof jackets and shoes.

Comfortable, well appointed, with a wonderful breakfast. Griet and Maarten were excellent hosts. We enjoyed the breakfast, the attention to history in the room and with the lovely overview Griet gave us. We were .7 miles from city center, very easy to walk. We were 1 mile from the train station, and very close to a walking/running/biking path. We used several of the recommendations for restaurants and sites to see from our hosts and were very pleased.

The Hosts were wonderful, Greit went out of her way to tell us about the local area and places of interest whilst we sat on the beautiful roof terrace, The attention to detail on furniture and fittings and made a very special boutique individual bed and breakfast. The ordering of breakfast was great and everything lovingly prepared to a very high standard. Very secure in a lovely location away from the hustle and bustle. A lovely home made cake treat awaited us each day on return.

There isn't anything not to like

Hosts were amazing, they gave us every care and attention, nothing was too much trouble. The room was wonderful and breakfast was terrific.

It would have been nice to have a shorter walk home

A beautiful room with very unusual touches like the gorgeous stained glass bathroom window. Super comfortable bed and breakfast was fantastic. We both really liked having tea and coffee facilities in the room

I liked it all!

Griet and Maarten were fantastic hosts! When we arrived, they gave us a small tour and pointed us towards local events we may wish to check out. The breakfast is quite good (especially the pain au chocolat). The location is also nearby to both a bus station and within short walking distance of the city center. I would recommend Royal Swans to anyone looking to experience Bruges.

An excellent stay, Griet and Martaan were very kind and provided tasty gifts each day, as well as a wonderful breakfast. The room was very comfortable and in a good location to explore the city.

Location was perfect, hosts were friendly and knowledgeable. Our room was beautiful, decorated with a Christmas tree also, which we appreciated! and our bed was so comfortable. Breakfast each morning was delicious and the little details were very thoughtful.

The host Griet was absolutely fantastic, she made us feel so welcome with homemade treats each day and went into a huge amount of depth on what there is to do in Bruges and even the history of the city. The facilities are lovely and the decor is warm and beautiful. Breakfast was superb offering a wide selection and fresh high quality ingredients. The bed and bathroom were excellent. Thank you so much for having us and making our trip extra special!

It is a little further out from the historic centre but still very much within walking distance.

Really lovely little B&B. Just outside the old city boundary so easy to walk everywhere and also easy to get the bus from the station. There was a varied spread for breakfast but we also go cake both afternoons as well! The owners also offered us an early check in and provided us with a balloon and extra pancakes one morning for our wedding anniversary.

Everything was excellent. Some travellers from the UK may prefer more cooked options for breakfast.

Lots of character and comfortable. The hosts are lovely and bring breakfast to your room every morning. I am coeliac so needed gluten free food and they catered for me perfectly. My friend required an accessible room and she was able to get in and out with no issues.

Was a bit chilly at night

The attention to detail of the hosts, they really do make the guest feel welcome. When we returned there was always a nice sweet treat Waiting for us in the room. Definitely recommend when visiting the enchanting city of Bruges.

It was a short, pleasant walk into the city so location was perfect. It was very close to the main park and Medieval gates. The room was very quirky with an amazingly decorated wall that disguised both the bathroom and kitchen area. Yhe bathroom was a large, fully accessible wetroom. The host was extremely welcoming, giving us home made delicacies each day and the breakfasts were delivered to our room as per our order from a wide selection, again including homemade items. We were given a map and extensive suggestions what to visit, including much local history knowledge. It was definitely a stay to remember for accommodation, but Bruges captivated us, being beautiful with a great vibe, lovely bars and great food. The Belgian beers and chocolates are a must.
