We had a fantastic stay and would definitely recommend it. The family accommodation was spacious, comfortable and beautifully decorated, with a lovely communal lounge area and self-service tea and coffee. Breakfast was excellent and really well presented. One thing we hadn't appreciated before booking was just how beautiful the location is. The B&B is right on the river and surrounded by forest, so it's incredibly peaceful. Our son particularly loved going out to feed the ducks every morning. Racheal is a brilliant host and went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed throughout our stay. A lovely place in a gorgeous setting and somewhere we'd happily stay again.

A wonderful place with very spacious family rooms and top rate facilities. The host was very welcoming and put on an amazing spread for breakfast.

Le logement était super ! Nous avons passé un super moment chez Rachael. Le logement était très confortable et cosy. Tout le logement est décoré avec beaucoup de goût. Rachael nous a donné beaucoup de conseils pour nos visites. Le petit déjeuner est excellent avec un large choix de produits et différents d’un jour à l’autre.

The location was perfect for our visit to Cong, within minutes walking to the heart of the village. The accommodation was beautifully decorated and in a lovely setting by the river. Plenty of outdoor seating for the lovely sunny weather we enjoyed. Our hostess Rachel, was very attentive and welcoming. Her attention to detail was excellent. The breakfast was plentiful with plenty of selection from fresh fruit salads and cereals to a wonderful selection of home cooked hot food which was excellent. The ample parking was a bonus.

The Salmon Weir Lodge is a lovely place to stay, right at the edge of Cong. The lodge is exceptionally clean and, as others have said, it is much nicer than the photos. Rachel provides a delicious array of continental breakfast items although I wanted a poached egg and my husband wanted scrambled eggs so she kindly cooked them for us! The lodge is tastefully decorated and you will be asked to remove your shoes which was not a problem for us as we wear slippers in our own house. There is a lovely area to sit outside and we had fabulous weather so we enjoyed that. I'd recommend doing the boat tour of Lough Corrib where David is a very good skipper and an excellent tour guide. Definitely worth it to hear about the history of Inchagoill - he is quite a character. I would highly recommend the Salmon Weir Lodge.

A lovely location, welcoming owner and very comfortable.

Rachael was the consummate host. Our room was impeccably clean and every detail was carefully thought out. Her breakfasts were generous and delicious. She puts so much love and care into her B and B and her hard work and giving spirit shines through. Staying in Cong is like stepping back in time - a village from the past unlike anything in Ireland. There are walking trails nearby and one that takes you to the stunning Ashford Castle. Cong was the setting of the movie A Quiet Man with John Wayne so there are some tourist sights with this too. Salmon Weir Lodge was the perfect springboard for our five nights in this region. I highly recommend Rachael's B and B snd hope to visit again!

Wow! The Salmon Weir Lodge and hospitality provided by Rachel exceeded my expectations!! The pictures don't do the place justice. The rooms are immaculate, elegant and all is provided at a very reasonable price. We booked the family room and the beds were clean, comfortable and spacious overlooking the side garden and river. We came to celebrate my birthday and Rachel greeted me with a personal birthday note with small tokens from Ireland. Her breakfasts were beyond exceptional with different options every morning!! Egg dishes, pastries, yogurt, fruit, breads and coffee among many other options. I am gluten free and she went above and beyond to provide gluten free breads and pastries. The rooms, service and overall experience was exceptional. Rachel is a gifted hostess and it felt like staying with family. Rachel THANK YOU!! My family and I will never forget you!!! You made my birthday experience exceptional 💖

What an amazing place to stay during our wonderful 2 day/night stay in Cong, Rachel is such a fantastic host, everything is stunning, beautiful surroundings, rooms so clean and spacious. Great that the rooms do not have tv’s in them as well so you can really enjoy the quaint setting. Breakfast on both mornings was exceptional and very tasty, we will be back with friends and family and we can’t wait. Matt & Emma

The property was in a beautiful setting just outside the quaint village of Cong. We had a spacious family room with an ensure bathroom which was spotless. Rachel was a lovely host and the breakfast every more was sumptuous with lots of choice. We really enjoyed our stay and hope to be back.

Beautiful small old village with lots of green, and the Lodge directly on the riverside. 3 minutes walk to restaurants and shops. Lydon's restaurant recommended by Rachael was our favorite choice for dinners. Rachael is an amazing host, really caring for her guests.The breakfast choice provided beats 5star hotels ! Very comfortable stay and lovely experience. It doesn't get better than this.

Beautifully decorated accommodation right along a river and a wonderful breakfast. Could walk to town for dinner. Rachael, our host, was warm and friendly and a great cook. The Falconry Experience at Ashford Castle was thrilling. Not to be missed.

Rachel, the property owner is amazing. Her home is beautifully decorated and most comfortable. The rooms are cozy and I had the best night sleep in Ireland. Her breakfasts are highly nourishing and very satisfying. Rachel goes beyond expectations to provide her guests with a great stay. The close proximity to Cong afforded us the ability to walk to town for dinner and entertainment. A great stay for our family of seven.

​We spent 6 nights with 2 teenagers. We were very well received by Rachael. The lodge is typically Irish and well located, just near the river and just at 2mn from the center of Cong village at walking. The lodge is very confortable, clean and easy to access with a car park. The room was spacious and well furnished, with good beds. Every day, the breakfast was just amazing with new meals ! Everything was good, fresh and tasty, specially the homemade "mimosa eggs" and the various salted pies. Congratulations Rachael ! Rachael is very available and she gave us a lot of good advices to visit Connemara, Galway or others villages. ​We sincerely thank you very much for everything Rachael. We will never forget our stay !

Breakfast was very good with a large selection. We were traveling with several family members so having a variety was very nice. Fun to try some local items as well. The rooms were very clean and well maintained.

Rachael is an incredibly welcoming woman. Her accommodation is really beautifully decorated and in a wonderful location. It’s also warm, very clean and comfortable and Rachael has made lots of effort with small things for her guests such as coffee/snacks available and a lovely seating area outside by the river. Salmon Weir Lodge felt like a home away from home. Our host Rachael was so friendly, accommodating and knowledgeable. Upon our visit during the very busy Easter bank holiday, she had Easter eggs and adorable stuffed animals for our kids. They were delighted! It was such a kind and generous gesture. Just one example of how welcoming Rachael is. The entire home, rooms and bathrooms were impeccable. So clean and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious. Lots of choice. Home made, fresh and so delicious! The location was ideal for so many of our day trips in and around Connemara and Galway. Wish we could have stayed longer! Such a delightful stay from beginning to end. We will absolutely recommend Salmon Weir Lodge to our friends and family as much as we would like to keep this little gem to ourselves.

In dieser Lodge fühlt man sich gleich zu Hause. Es ist sehr gemütlich und die freundliche Ideal Vermieterin gibt einem zahlreiche Tipps und bereitet ein umwerfendes und sehr abwechslungsreiches Frühstück. Die Zimmer sind geschmackvoll eingerichtet und die Betten bequem. Der Ort Cong ist zwar klein, hat aber nette Restaurants/Pubs und ist umgeben von einem wunderschönen verwunschenen Wald, in dem man toll wandern kann. Es gibt Flüsschen und Seen rund um den Ort. Der fantastische Connemara Nationalpark ist schnell zu erreichen und hat uns begeistert. Wir haben den Aufenthalt sehr genossen und kommen gern wieder.

We had a wonderful stay with Rachael. The house was beautiful, clean and very comfortable. Rachael was very welcoming and very kindly left our two young daughters an Easter gift in our bedroom. They were absolutely delighted. It was very kind of her. We arrived on a stormy day, it was very wet and windy. So we decided to stay indoors following our arrival (although we could have spent the evening in the local village listening to live music of we wanted). Our room was very comfortable, and it was lovely listening to the storm outside whilst we were snug inside. When we woke the following morning, the sun was shinning again and Rachael had the most wonderful breakfast prepared for us to enjoy before we spent the day exploring the lovely little village of Cong and the beautiful scenery of nearby Connemara. Our girls particularly enjoyed feeding baby lambs and watching a sheep dog herding demonstration at Killary sheep farm nearby.

Excellent stay all round. Rachel was a fantastic host and made us feel very welcome for the entirety of our stay. Highly recommended to anyone thinking of checking out this part of Ireland We loved the fairy-tale like style of the lodge and the rooms were cosy and bed was super comfortable. Great view of the salmon weir and river. Breakfast was next-level with a really original take on the Irish fry-up baked with tomatoes, egg, white pudding, black pudding baked in an oven as opposed to fried in a pan. Great pour-over/filter coffee which is a nice change of pace to the usual weak espresso or instant fare! Great location not too close to the town centre and not too far away. Around 2-3 minute walk to convenience store. Great forest walks and close to the grounds of the Ashford estate and castle. The town of Cong itself was like stepping back in time.

Breakfast varied by day which was a great surprise. Our host was a wonderful cook and was able to tell us about each item. She also had food and coffee ready for our designated breakfast time each day, which was wonderful.

The bedside lamp was difficult to access from the bed and because there was no street lights the room was very dark at night.

Si vede che ci tiene molto alla casa ed ai suoi ospiti, le camere sono arredate con cura. Gli asciugamani sono soffici e pulitissimi. I letti grandi, molto comodi e le lenzuola profumate. Tutte cose che difficilmente si trovano tutte insieme in un b&b inglese o irlandese. La colazione è la migliore in quasi due settimane di Irlanda. Cong infine è un piccolissimo paese ma con la possibilità di passeggiate molto suggestive tra boschi giardini e fiumi, nonché un’ottima base per visitare la regione. Se programmate di essere in zona, scegliete il Salmon Weir Lodge, non ve ne pentirete.

I had such a wonderful stay here! Rachael is an exceptional host — she went above and beyond, even washing & ironing my clothes for a wedding!! The rooms were extremely comfortable and the breakfast was perfect every morning, with a great variety of food and a lovely pot of tea waiting for me. The location is ideal too, just a stone’s throw from the beautiful village of Cong. Whether for a short visit or a longer trip, I couldn’t recommend this B&B highly enough!

Meraviglioso lodge alle porte di Cong, delizioso paesino super curato in una zona magnifica del Connemara, vicino all'Ashford Castle. La struttura è splendida, curata nei minimi particolari, con una zona giorno incantevole dove poter fare colazione, la camera al primo piano era veramente molto grande, accogliente, il bagno nuovissimo e tutto molto pulito. La vista sul ruscello con le papere dona tranquillità, anche il giardino e lo spazio esterno sono affascinanti. Parcheggio interno alla struttura molto ampio. La colazione viene preparata dall'host nella cucina adiacente alla zona giorno, la ricchezza dell'offerta e la qualità dei prodotti non hanno trovato eguali durante il nostro viaggio. Inoltre la nostra host è stata super accogliente e disponibile a fornirci molte informazioni sulle attrazioni della zona e anche su Galway, che sarebbe stata la tappa successiva. Peccato aver soggiornato solo due notti in questa oasi di pace, serenità e bellezza!

This was a fantastic experience from start to finish. The accommodation was absolutely charming and beautifully furnished throughout. Everything felt new and was spotlessly clean, which made for a very comfortable stay. Our host Rachel deserves special mention - she was incredibly welcoming and went above and beyond to make us feel at home. Her hospitality really made the difference, we insider got travel tips almost every day. The breakfast was a particular highlight and definitely not your standard Irish breakfast. Rachel surprised us with something different each day, which was a delightful touch that we really appreciated.

It is a cosy house with and interior design that makes you feel comfortable and relaxed. It is really close to the center of Cong, within walkingdistance. The hostess is very serviceminded, kind welcoming, easy to talk to and accomodating. The beds are comfortable and the room was clean and fresh. The breakfast was excellent with a variation of food every day. I would highly reccomend staying there.

Everything is beyond 5 star at Salmon Weir. Rachel is an incredible host and takes such care to make sure everything is perfect - very comfy beds, lovely linens and towels, home made wonderful breakfast - such a fantastic spread to be greeted with in the morning and so much choice. It's very easy to walk into the village which is only a few minutes away. Best kept secret in Cong - we will definitely be back. Thank you so much for looking after us Rachel, Harley and Susie xx

Beautiful space, great breakfast with options for everyone. Location was excellent and close to where we wanted to visit.

We loved the place so much, we want to buy it. I cannot think of a higher recommendation than that. I can't imagine that anyone who stays here could ever be disappointed.

There was nothing not to like about the Salmon Weir Lodge, the hostess was very warm and welcoming from the moment we stepped through the front entrance, at every opportunity she would engage you in conversation, making sure your needs were well catered for, the rooms are spick and Span creating a lovely ambience throughout the building, the breakfast selection presented you with a spoilt for choice, wide abundance of breakfast delights, regrettably our stay was shorter than we would have liked, but we have every intention of making a return visit in the very near future ----- Many many thank you's Rachel, for all those little personal touches you provided!

We had a great stay! The family room was the perfect size for our group, and Rachael was knowledgeable on recommendations for activities in the area. Loved that it was right on the water and walking distance from town - we went to the pubs for music in the evenings. We also enjoyed the varying (and large!) breakfast spreads each day. Breakfasts were shared at a communal table, which was great for creating conversation between groups. Rachael was super accommodating of the dietary restrictions of one member of our party.

Everything was impeccably clean and beautifully decorated. We would consider another trip to Ireland just to spend a few more days here.

Rachael was a wonderful host and the breakfast each morning was superb. Rachael provided a lot of extra advice about places to visit in the region and her tips made for a memorable trip to County Mayo. The bed and breakfast is great value for money and has a comfortable sitting room with tea and coffee making facilities for guests.

Quality furnishings, towels. bedlinen etc.Small design features throughout the establishment provide a welcoming feeling. Beautiful patio with seating next to a waterway. Rachael is your friendly host who will provide tips for sightseeing and restaurants but also cooks a very generous and tasty breafast. Easy parking on site. It was right next to the river. It was calming and peaceful, tastefully decorated. Plenty of food for breakfast. Amazing seating choices and very comfortable beds. Loved having a washcloth, not many places include them with linens. We will definitely try to go back for a longer stay. Rachel was a delightful hostess and gave very good advice about the sights.
