Great and calm haveli patio in the old city with very helpful and dedicated personnel, very nice experience to recommend
Lighting in the room and the bathroom is dim and poorly, it doesn't hoghlight at all the value of the haveli decorations, too bad
The place was calm, beautifuly restored with a very nice swimming pool and rooftop!!!
Beautiful courtyard , pool and rooms . Welcoming host / felt at home
Friendly, helpful staff. Centrally situated
Very peaceful position close to the busy streets. I loved being able to have a swim in the early morning as well as the evening. Everyone was very kind and helpful. Breakfast was simple but delicious. Everything we needed was available. I felt it was a perfect place to stay.
Such a wonderful place to stay. Helena, Chandra and the rest of the staff were so welcoming and helpful. The location is amazing, the rooms beautiful and spacious, and the courtyard was even more gorgeous than we’d hoped. Also, breakfast was really great with lots of options, and you don’t want to miss whatever cake they put out. I know it’s breakfast but just do it, you won’t regret it.
Maybe some furniture for the rooftop but the other communal areas are so great, we didn’t feel we needed to go up there anyway.
Great location. A peaceful, comfortable and welcoming haven a short walk away from the bustle of street life and city sounds. The rooms were spacious, showers hot and the beds were a good size and super comfy. It was a meticulously clean, calm and friendly environment. Delicious fresh breakfasts and a lovely pool to cool off in.
Nothing.
Firstly the hotel is in a great location for sightseeing, room was nicely presented and spacious, had all the amenities, aircon, coffee, tv and large bathroom. Breakfast was good and the staff always helpful.
Wi-Fi could be better in room it kept dropping when on your phone, but if you needed to work the main lobby would be perfect calm place to go.
Beautiful small hotel in the centre of Udaipur with magnificent rooftop views of the city palace . Excellent breakfast with lots of choice All staff very helpful and rooms felt luxurious. We made use of the in house massage service which was wonderful Easy to walk around Udaipur from here
Nothing !
Overall ambiance, staff behavior and host.
Everything was really great. Nothing to complain about ♥️
Everything, the ambiance, the serene quiet in the middle of a noisy city, the attention to detail. The bedrooms and bathrooms were spotless.
Nothing!
Breakfast met all of our needs and was delicious. The kitchen caters for Western as well as Indian palates. I am gluten-intolerant and the staff went the extra mile to make me something I could eat which was so appreciated.
Actually, nothing could have been better.
Molto silenzioso
The Neem Tree is a peaceful and charming oasis in the middle of Udaipur. I really appreciated the quiet atmosphere, which made it easy to relax after a day in the city. The food was excellent, and the service was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. A wonderful place to stay if you are looking for calm, comfort, and authentic hospitality.
This boutique hotel in the center of Udaipur is truly a hidden gem. It is located in a nice and quiet area. The owner and the staff are very kind, welcoming and helped us with everything we needed. The rooms are specious and very comfortable. The breakfast was also very yummy. We definitely would come back!

Absolutely stunning place. Great location, very attentive hosts, tasty breakfast - all was up to the highest standards.
Nothing
A silent retreat in a busy city Great location close to the castle, tempel and lakeside (with many roofbars) Owner is very friendly and helpfull with tips about visiting the town and where you eat Beautiful outside area around the pool Renovated with an eye for detail Comfortable bed Excellent shower, hot water came immediately
Nothing really Except a little detail maybe, the roof top could be more cosy with some tables?
Beautiful hotel in a quiet side street close to the historic sites and lake. Staff were really friendly and helpful. Lovely quiet courtyard with a pool.
It is a beautiful Haveli, an oasis of calm in the heart of the city, with a welcome swimming pool in which to relax after a day’s sightseeing. The staff are friendly, the breakfasts are excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Nothing! It’s a bit hard to find, but It’s a great place to stay, and we thoroughly recommend it!
Very happy and helpful
None
- Peaceful and quiet setting - Nice alcoves to sit in the rooms on first floor - Great breakfast - Very tasty lunch and dinner, if preordered - Helpful info and suggestions for sightseeing and shopping - The hotel is located in the old city and a bit tricky to reach, but they will arrange for a comfortable arrival.
- There are inviting stone benches on the rooftop - if only there were not these red ants...
Friendly staff
Lack of amenities and availability
Beautiful style/design of the hotel, excellent location. The owner was very flexible to the request we had. Warm welclme and all necessary advices. 100% cleaneleness
Nothing to mention
We had the pleasure of staying 5 nights at the Neem Tree. Tucked away off a busy road in the old city, it’s a truly relaxing, calm oasis; the photos don’t do it justice! The City Palace and Jagdish Temple are a short walk away and there are plenty of restaurants close by too. The attention to detail in the decor is stunning. Helena, the very welcoming owner, told us that she had 5 stonemasons alone working on the build for 2 years - we weren’t surprised. Our room was spacious and spotless, with a very comfortable bed. My husband appreciated a dip in the pool each day and we enjoyed our breakfast in the courtyard. There were cereals, a variety of fresh fruit and cake on the buffet table, and cooked food (Western and Indian) is available to order. I had the best poached eggs every day! They also provided a milk alternative for my husband’s lactose intolerance. Helena organised a visit out to the countryside for a guided hike which really enhanced our time in Udaipur. We felt very much at home in this gem of a hotel. Thank you Helena and Chandra for a wonderful stay!
Nothing!
Beautifully decorated and very tranquil. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. Very nice pool and terrace . Very helpful and friendly team who are very welcoming
Nothing
Everything ! So stylish, so calm, such exceptional service. We loved the yoga, the massage, the incredible restaurant recommendations, the pool, and the room. Brilliant location within walking distance of everything in central Udaipur.
That we had to leave !
Such a beautifully designed property, from the gorgeous bed spreads to the lovely bathrooms. By far the best place we stayed on our India trip and great value for money. The hotel is located opposite an alleyway that takes you straight to the palace and is within easy walking distance to some great restaurants recommended by the hotel. The host Helena and her manager are so helpful, organising airport transfers, massages on site and even a super interesting palm reading. If you’re coming to Udaipur you should definitely stay here.
Nothing at all.. the only minor thing I would suggest is slightly bigger towels!
This was my first solo trip in India, and I’m so grateful I chose The Neem Tree as my hotel. It was perfectly located right in the Old City, but it was a great escape from the hustle and bustle as it was up on a hill. Everyone was very welcoming, and I felt very safe as a solo female traveler. I would highly recommend!
Just stayed at this awesome hotel and I loved it! The room was huge and super clean—felt really nice to get back to the hotel and relax. The bed was so comfy, I slept like a baby. And the staff? Seriously, they were so polite and helpful, made me feel right at home. The owner really pays attention to details so if u are coming to Udaipur - look no further...Would totally stay here again! Bonus points for a great breakfast and a massage u can arrange in the hotel!
Pool is there just for the ambience it seems. Should be cleaned to be used. Have in mind a car probably can't bring u to the property but that wasn't an issue for me, place is rather tucked in from the busy streets which is great :)
Udaipur is beautiful and very busy so returning at the end of each day to this oasis of peace and comfort is perfect
Nothing. Loved it.
Very well managed hotel. The services are top profesionales. The breafast perfect. Large room.
The rickshaw was unable sometimes to reach the hotel because of the little hill.
The property was an oasis of calm in the middle of the old town. Helena and her team were so friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. They really went out their way to make our stay extra special. I was feeling pretty ill when I arrived at the hotel and Chandra (the manager) offered to have some food prepared for us to prevent us having to go out and also provided some lemon, honey and ginger tea. The property is well appointed, the decor and furnishings are tasteful throughout and it is immaculately clean both inside and outside on the courtyard. We also enjoyed sitting outside on the terrace for breakfast. There was a range of fruits, cereals, yogurts provided in addition to cooked food including eggs. In conclusion, not only is the Neem Tree a wonderful property but it is excellent value for money.
Absolutely nothing. We enjoyed everything about the Neem Tree - they’ve got it just right.
Helena was the perfect host. This is a beautifully and sympathetically restored haveli in the Old City of Udaipur. We initially booked for 4 days but spent another 2 nights after a 3 day trip away. There are a total of 8 rooms. Helena and Chandra (who helps Helena run the place) made us most welcome from the moment we arrived to when we left. Chandra made us great breakfasts everyday, which we ate by the lovely pool or under the Neem Tree. All the staff were very friendly, creating a welcoming atmosphere. We enjoyed the daily 0815 yoga classes in the rooftop shala. We ate dinner at the property on 2 evenings. I loved sitting on the rooftop late afternoon, with great views of the City Palace. OK, you are not by the lake but we had plenty of opportunities to have a meal or a coffee overlooking Lake Pichola, which is only a 10 minute walk away.
I liked everything and it is not often I write that in a review.! However it would be tricky for someone with walking disabilities as the access is via a short steep road for approximately 150 metres from where a taxi would drop you off. However, someone from the Neem Tree would happily meet your taxi and carry your bags.
Wonderful location, exceptional people
- the location - cleanliness - room size and aesthetic- true to the city - hospitality - Amenities
-
I loved the yoga in a studio on the roof. Followed by a delicious breakfast in the courtyard.
Gorgeous boutique hotel, tasteful & inviting. Love The Neem Tree in the courtyard- so special
Great location and hospitality
Additional bed squeaky, value for money can be doubtful
Everything
Nothing
The Neem Tree is a perfect serene gem in the middle of a bustling city. I have spent 4 days in Udaipur, sadly 2 days really unwell with respiratory bug and Helena, Chandra and the boys were super attentive at all times. The tours they arranged for me were perfect and I really felt safe and taken care of during my stay. I cannot recommend it enough,
Nothing to dislike.
Everything and we mean everything. The room was a joy: the staff were excellent: the location couldn’t be bettered as it’s close to the palace but quiet and peaceful, rare that in India: Helena was very helpful and attentive owner: the breakfast and pool were terrific … you must have got the message by now.
See above !!
Clean, comfortable and spacious rooms with excellent facilities. There is a nice area to sit in the evening. Staff were friendly and helpful.
The rooms were not soundproofed which meant noise from the city at night and early in the mornings.
This place is a wonderful oasis in a very busy part of the old town of beautiful Udaipur. The design and decor is timeless and beautiful. The pool in the beautiful courtyard is a great addition to the property and the manager, Helena, is a warm and welcoming host.
The fact that we couldn't spend more time at this exceptional, magical place....
Small family run and authentic
What a pleasant surprise. This little hotel is beautifully appointed. The room was huge, the bed supremely comfortable, the linen just right. The whole hotel is decorated with a fine eye. Let me tell you, in the heat of Rajasthan, the fact that there was a swimming pool meant that we could go around on foot exploring the local area and then we could cool off in the pool. The food was excellent. The staff was friendly. It was a little oasis in the heart of Udaipur.
The wifi was weak but other than that, there really isn't anything I didn't like. This hotel is just too gorgeous to have anything bad to say at all.
Relaxing environment right in the city centre but didn't feel like you were. Breakfast was delicious. Staff were so friendly and helpful, we felt at home. The pool area is beautiful and we loved relaxing there in between exploring Udaipur. We would absolutely recommend this hotel and hope we can return one day.
We struggled to get our room to feel cool.
Very good breakfast. Large comfortable room - modern design, clean, no view. Central to most activities. Noisy on some nights with disco next door until late.
Ambience was a bit sterile/minimalist - Little outlook from our room except a tiny window (6in x 6in) in bathroom gave a stunning view of palace.
It is quiet and close to everything. The rooms are spacious. The house made food excellent.
Nothing
Great location, close to local attractions, views from rooftop terrace, beautifully decorated bedroom
Although it was nice having a pool the water was very cold Bed was very firm Sits at the top of a very steep hill most taxis refused to climb
The big garden area with the Neem tree and the pool was a lovely place to relax in. Helena and her staff were really exceptionally kind and helpful. The rooms are beautifully designed and comfortable. Absolutely recommend this as a wonderful place to stay in Udaipur.
I enjoyed my time at Neem Tree. The space is amazing, and everyone was very helpful. Great food too! Neem Tree also offers morning yoga and can help to arrange a cooking class, palm/horoscope reading, massage, an escape to the countryside for a wonderful morning hike (highly recommend this) and transport. As soon as you enter the Hotel, there is a sense of calmness and relaxation. Highly recommend!
Everything was amazing. The hotel was a sense of relief walking back home to everyday because of how zen it was. Helena was amazing and so helpful in every way. Would highly recommend having the breakfast also.
Nothing it was perfect.
There was so much to love about staying here. The property itself has been beautifully renovated in keeping with the typical architecture of Udaipur. Our room was spacious and very comfortable, we particularly loved the enclosed balcony with its colourful glass panels where we could sit peacefully. Everything was exceptionally clean, staff were quietly attentive, and the roof top terrace was superb. It was a perfect place to sit with a pre dinner drink, with fantastic views to the city palace which is a few minutes walk away. Breakfast was excellent, with a great choice of food and drink, including delicious home made cakes! Thank you to Helena and your staff for an exceptional stay, it was lovely to meet you.
Nothing, would highly recommend!
A Tranquil heaven amongst the hustle and bustle of India - Helena was wonderful and what works really well in this stay is the amazing service and location. Mattresses are really comfy and the Indian Head Massage is a must. There was a shop at the bottom of the hill that tailored trousers and sold wonderful textiles too. Helena and Mr. Singh would always help with booking rickshaws, taxis and reservations. The roof top is a great place for a peaceful beer and wonderful view if the City Palace. Breakfast with proper coffee was wonderful. Highly recommended staying here for feeling safe and secure!
Rooftop was super fun, great service and amazing interior. Friendly staff and fun activities.
I like the ambience of the property . The host was amazing and very friendly . It was very quiet place . Rooms were spacious too
I didn’t like the location of the hotel . It is located on steep hill which is very tiring to walk especially at the end of the day . No rickshaw were ready to drive up their except their own rickshaw
We had a lovely stay at the Neem Tree. It was an oasis of calm in the middle of Udaipur. It was easy to relax as the staff could help us with where to go and eat or get our glasses fixed! Also a great view from the rooftop.
The Neem Tree is a blissful oasis in the centre of Udaipur. The property is comfortable and beautiful, everything has been thought of to ensure a comfortable stay. Helena and the staff were very friendly and helpful, always available to offer advice and help arrange activities/excursions. We loved making us of the on-site yoga and massage. The breakfast was delicious with plenty of choice. Although located right in the centre of Udaipur, the hotel is quiet and peaceful - we wished we could have spent more time there!
Nothing!
Great property and service! Thank you :)
Very nice breakfast, all interesting places are close by, as well as the restaurants. They offer bunch of services if interested (Joga, massage, etc). Staff is very helpful, main staff people talk English well. Helped with transport (we did not have mobile internet, so it was very useful). Also a very nice roof for enjoying the city view around.
The only surprise was that Uber can take only ~5 min of walk from hotel, so it’s a bit harder with luggage. Though a lot of Tuktuks around, so not so much of a need for Uber.
Neem Tree is a nice calm and quiet place in the center of the old city with a nice courtyard to rest from a long day walk. Room are big, clean and elegant. breakfast is tasty, with a choice of local or western food, fresh juice and home made cake are delicious.
Very comfortable and quiet accommodation - a place to relax just a very short walk away from stressful Udaipur old city. You can feel and see the love and attention to detail with which it has been created. Up to standard for Western travellers. Palace view from the roof top. Very comfy bed, very clean and well looked after. Big Thanks to Helena and the staff for making our short stay so nice!
From the rooms in the main building you can hear what’s going on in the house (although it was very quiet and guests are asked not to disturb others between 9 pm and 8 am), but maybe some door padding for noise protection would be an option. Featuring the roof top terrace more would be great
Great hospitality from owner Helena and staff and individual breakfast options to chose from. Most relevant Udaipur sights within walking distance. Overall a wonderful boutique hotel.
This is a gem of a property in the centre of Udaipore in which Helena has created a truly lovely experience for her guests which begins from the moment you walk through the door. There is a lovely courtyard with a swimming pool where breakfast is taken each morning and where drinks can be enjoyed throughout the day. Breakfasts are fresh, healthy and wholesome and we can honestly say these were the best poached eggs we’ve ever had at an hotel. The rooms are spacious with a lovely shower room and tea, coffee and toiletries are provided and replenished daily. All staff are courteous and friendly and cannot do enough to help. This is a property which we would recommend unreservedly.
Everything was immaculate and there is nothing to criticise.
Beautiful property with the loveliest team. The Neem Tree is near all the action but tucked away on a quiet street.
The Neem Tree is an oasis of peace and tranquility in the centre of the old city. It’s quite amazing how quiet and peaceful it is, considering you are only metres from the busy streets of the old city. The room was large clean and had a great shower too. I would not hesitate to recommend this to anyone. Breakfast was a choice of eggs cooked how you like, toast and a selection of fruit and other items that are enough to be up for the day.
I wouldn’t change a thing the Neem Tree was perfect the way it is.
Truly exceptional experience. Right in the middle of town, perfect for wlaking around exploring. Room, service, food, cleanliness, staff, facilities all 10 out of 10. Would highly recommend
Everything for us was perfect. We had an excellent assage and several yoga sessions too
The breakfast every morning was my favorite part. Everything was delicious and made to order. I particularly enjoyed the poha!
Only thing I can think of is that the pool was freezing cold. But that was invigorating in a different way haha
The moment we entered the centrally located hotel of yours, we knew that it was the start of a magical tale that we were about to experience. The genuine warmth of Helena and Chandra Singh kept us in awe. The staff were kind, helpful and always greeting with a smile. We loved the long conversations with Helena over breakfast. Her recommendations for exploring the city were quite helpful. Chandra Singh, a culinary wizard treated us with poha and parathas which were the symphony of flavors we will never forget. The hotel is the perfect place to stay and explore Udaipur. The walks by the lakes, our strolls through the old city streets, the cuisine, the spirituality, it all blended seamlessly into an unforgettable experience. Thank you for the hospitality and painting our Udaipur days with hues of warmth and belonging.
The street/way to the hotel is steep which senior citizens might not prefer. Personally for us it was not a problem at all. There was nothing that we disliked.
This lovely hotel is a peaceful retreat in the heart of old Udaipur. There are many remarkable features of the Neem Tree: the spacious rooms, the delicious breakfast, the relaxing swimming pool; but what our family appreciated the most was the helpful advice. From restaurant recommendations, to a tailor to fix a ripped knapsack, the team at The Neem Tree was excellent. If you ask them to help arrange transportation, getting to their hotel in the old city is easy. We stayed four days at The Neem Tree but wish we could have stayed much longer. An exceptional experience!
nothing!
location is good near to city palace, pichola lake and other major Citing's with a walkable distance
proper restaurant is not there
The Neem Tree is a beautifully reconstructed building around a calm, quiet courtyard within easy walking distance to all the sights of the busy city. It has a rooftop yoga studio and massage is available on request. The pool is wonderful after a day in Udaipur. Helena and her staff are there to provide everything a guest could want.
There was absolutely nothing we did not like.
The building is absolutely stunning - the photos don’t do it justice - and the rooms are very comfortable. The location is perfect too… a short walk from the lake and many restaurants. The staff were fantastic and very helpful. Outstanding value!
Sun loungers could be updated.
a family atmosphere for this hotel, redone recently with an elegant rajasthani decoration in stone, wood and color glass. The hostess Helena is extremely nice, and the staff are very helpful. Breakfast buffet is simple and completed on order with anything you request (indian, european) We loved the perfectly poached eggs! Snacks available whole day, and a lot of recommendations from Helena for nearby diner outside. It fitted our needs perfectly. Apart from that, an excellent yoga teacher every morning on the terrace, and a beautiful pool to swim after the long walks in town. The place is a few minutes walk from the City Palace and main attractions, yet very quiet for a lazy day under the Neem tree. we heartily recommend!
lovely decor, clean.
not the greatest shower
