De ligging met uitzicht over het Tissa meer. En de gastvrijheid van onze host Nimal. Hij regelde de Safari Yala National Park voor een goede prijs. Kookte voor ons een heerlijke maaltijd.

De bedden waren voor ons een beetje aan de korte kant ondanks dat hebben we heerlijk geslapen.

Lovely hotel as a base of the safari overlooking a lake. Great little pool. We didn't eat in the restaurant as it was quiet when we visited but they recommended some good restaurants and organised tuk tuks.

Direkt am See gelegen haben alle Zimmer eine tolle Aussicht und eine ruhige Lage. Auch der Pool liegt super romantisch am See, ist sehr gepflegt und beim Schwimmen kann man die verschiedensten Vögel ganz nah beobachten. Das Personal, vor allem der Geschäftsführer, gehen sehr auf die Wünsche der Gäste ein und machten es sogar möglich, den Pool ganz frühmorgens zu benutzen. Die Zimmer sind sehr geräumig, sauber und gepflegt. Die Betten sind groß und bequem und die Klimaanlage funktioniert gut. Wer will bekommt einen Wasserkocher samt kochendem Wasser und allem Kaffee- und Teezubehör geliefert. Vor dem Zimmer hat man seine eigene Terrasse von der man einen tollen Sonnenuntergang beobachten und auf Wunsch sogar das Abendessen genießen kann. Vom Hotel aus kann man per Spaziergang alle Teile des Ortes erreichen und es ist eine gute Ausgangsbasis für eine Safari im Yala- Nationalpark.

Alles war super. Auch das Badezimmer war riesig, allerdings fehlten dort Ablageflächen, so dass man vieles auf den Boden stellen musste.

We loved our stay at the Olu Villa resort. From your room and the pool you have the most amazing view over the lake and its animals. The staff were very sweet and accommodating. The owner came for a visit and told us the hotel will close in de coming weeks for an expansion and renovation, so it even be more beautiful in the future!

The room is very warm as the air conditioning not functioning well but the staff insist the air conditioning had no issue.

This place has the most amazing view. It really has so much potential but unfortunately due to "Trump" there were no tourist around at all. We were the only one's at the hotel but the staff were fantastic and helped out so much. Great place to sit and have a cold beer and watch the bird life and sun set. The full moon rising as we gpt up for Yala was amazing and wirth the stay.

The manager was so kind and attentive. He prepared an amazing dinner for us even though we were the only guests that night. Breakfast was delicious. Eggs and chicken sausage with fresh fruit, coffee and fresh juice. The view of the lake was amazing. Lots of birds and we watched a herd of water buffalo cross the lake in the evening for their nightly "bath". A very pleasant experience and great location for visiting Yala National Park. Tour groups will pick you up and drop you off.

Bardzo przyjazny właściciel, chętny do pomocy, bez naciągania turystów. Bardzo smaczne śniadania. Wielki pokój. Basen z widokiem na jezioro, mieliśmy okazję obserwować przechodzące stado bawołów, jak na safari :)

W pokoju przydałby się zestaw do parzenia kawy/herbaty i suszarka do włosów. Poza tym super :)

Prachtig uitzicht over het meer waar je de krokodillen kan zien zwemmen. Vrendelijk personeel. De manager maakte zelfs ‘s morgens vroeg ontbijt voor ons om mee te nemen naar Yala National Park.

Geen gezellig restaurant om te zitten. Geen parasols bij het zwembad.

Room was clean and tidy with wardrobe space and bedside sockets. Bathroom a good size and shower with pressure. Very peaceful location, sat by the pool watching all the birds and again in the evening from the terrace outside the room. Town is a short walk away for restaurants. Breakfast was good, flexible with style and fruit. Reminder that you need to pay by cash!

Les infrastructures sont très décevantes :piscine trouble, chambre très modeste et vieillissante. Le rapport qualité prix n’y est pas.

Olu Villa Resort was a fantastic place to stay when we visited Tissamaharama to go to Yala National Park. The rooms and entire property were exceptionally clean and in order, and the showers were hot with great water pressure - much needed after a day spent at the national park. The owner was so kind and helpful, assisting us with laundry service, and providing a breakfast for us before we departed extremely early for our Yala tour.

The bathroom was not quite up to standard. The toilet was not stable and the seat was not very clean. There was a slight sewage smell in the bathroom. The water in the sink when filled was slightly brown, to the point we used bottled water throughout our stay. The bathroom door could not be fully closed nor was it lockable, and each time the room door opened and closed the bathroom door also opened. Not all the electric sockets were usable.

Fantastisk utsikt mot sjön med allt fågelliv. Väldigt vackert. Nimal på boendet gjorde fantastisk Sri Lanka mat. Han frågade vad man önskade och så fick man det. Eller fick han fria händer så fick man rätter som man inte visste fanns. Åt alla middagar här och det var väldigt bra.

The hotel is incredibly peaceful, owners and other staff members absolutely phenomenal service. The food prepared by the owner/chef was absolutely delicious and very generous portion size for the cost. Rooms are immaculately clean, asked for a kettle and were given all tea/coffee making facilities which was lovely. Bed is comfortable, AC works well. View from room is amazing.

An extra pillow on the beds would be lovely but I'm sure if we'd asked this would have been accommodated.

The location directly on the lake's edge was stunning. To wake up to the sunrise and all the birds flying past and resting on the trees was amazing. I have never seen so many kingfishers.

The resort looked closed when we arrived, but soon able to raise the host and get let in. Was a bit disconcerting

Staff were so friendly and helpful, they were great! Food was good. Pool by the lake was lovely as was the view from the room. Room was spacious and super clean. They organised our Yala safari which was also brilliant.

Duży pokój, przestronny, z pięknym widokiem na jezioro. Czysty basen.

Rano zamiast śniadania mieliśmy zamówione śniadanie "na wynos" ponieważ jechaliśmy o 5:30 do parku Yalla. Niestety śniadanie nie było przygotowane przez co nasz wyjazd się opóźnił. Dopiero pan dozorca obudził panią, która w pośpiechu szykowała nam kanapki na drogę.

Poor service, laundry by hands of poor quality and they put my underwear on the roof. The hotel manager said the dinner was fully booked when we were going to book a table for the dinner but when we came back from the dinner outside the restaurant the hotel’s restaurant was empty. There was no cleaning service in the room. The AC was old and noisy. No mosquitos net on the window. Manager accept payment only cash and I would be surprised if he gives more than half of the revenue to the owner…

We stayed at Olu Villa Resort to visit Yala National Park. It had one of the biggest rooms, and the host was very helpful, arranging all transport, including return to Colombo. Dinner was excellent.

Breakfast could do with a bit more variety.

Excellent location overlooking the lake, large and clean rooms, and amazing food. Nimal and the staff were super friendly and went out of their way to make our stay comfortable and memorable.

Nice room with an amazing view of the lake. Big terrace, perfect to enjoy breakfast and sunsets in front of the lake. The bathroom was very big and there was as much hot water as we wanted (very rare in Sri Lanka). From the hotel it's a very short tuk tuk ride to the point where you can take a boat tour on the lake. Absolutely do it if you have the time, it's so worth it you will see hundreds of beautiful birds and bats.

Iedereen was vriendelijk en deed er alles aan om het ons naar ons zin te maken, het zwembad lag prachtig gelegen aan een meer.

Er had iets meer sfeer gemogen in de algemene ruimte (receptie, restaurant)

The location and the people

The photos on Booking are really misleading and heavily retouched. The property is actually very run-down except for the pool.From the pictures you can’t see the roof beams… The rooms are spacious, sure, but the walls are cracked and very dirty. During the night the power went out and there was no AC… In short, if it weren’t for the location, which is in a very beautiful spot, and the smiles of the ladies who carry the luggage, I honestly wouldn’t recommend it at all.

We had to pay by cash as the card machine wasn't working, no restaurant facilities for evening meal.

We used this location for one night because of a visit to yala. The view was beautiful. The host was very friendly and arranged a driver for the Yala safari, a breakfast package and balloons on the room for our sons birthday. The room was nice and clean. Enough restaurants around the corner.

Overall it was very good. The only little thing I always like is a set to make tea or coffee with. But we can really recommend this location.

The rooms are huge, with and incredible lake view, and the place is very clean. The shower pressure is good and there is hot water. The WiFi is the best we have encountered so far. The pool is right above the lake. You can sit at the pool while enjoying the many animals that pass by such as monkeys, buffalos, eagles and other birds Even though it is a bit dated, everything was perfect. The location is very good, right at the lake and even though there are plenty of options of restaurants nearby, you have to eat here at least once! The food is really amazing!! The staff, specifically the chef/manager, is super nice and kind. He offered to arrange us breakfast to go to take to the safari at 5am! You can also book the safari with them. Although they don't accept card payments, they accept Euros (and I think also Dollars and Pounds). You can be sure you will enjoy your time at Olu Villa and definitly recommend staying for dinner!

De familiekamer ligt op de bovenste verdieping waar je weinig of geen uitzicht hebt op het meer , de andere kamers hebben wel een mooi uitzicht trouwens Het zwembad is ook schoon en lekker om ff af te koelen Het is erg duur €220 voor 2 nachten en dan heb je nog geen ontbijt erbij De eigenaar is wel erg behulpzaam evenals de poetsvrouwen wat er rond lopen

房东大叔人很好，非常友善也很幽默😂，房间里打扫得很干净，空间也很大，住在一楼的话可以看到Tissa湖，很美，再往下还有泳池，虽然没吃这里的饭但我妈看到了房东做饭，据说看着很香，下次来住一定尝一下😋 美中不足是Tissa这里生态太好，所以各种昆虫很多，晚上由于太怕虫我睡得心惊胆战😂

Prachtige locatie aan Tissa meer. Je kijkt vanuit kamer zo meer op, met ijsvogeltjes, hornbills purperreigers en koereigers voor je neus. Kamer groot, hygiënisch en heerlijk bed. Gastheer en vrouwen heel vriendelijk, Sri Lankaans eten uitstekend. Prima service! Heerlijk zwembad met uitzicht!

This was a fantastic place to stay with stunning views across the lake and constant flow of beautiful birds to watch. Nimal the manager and chef was great and adapted to our every need in a friendly and helpful way. His food was outstanding too!

Het zwembad was heerlijk alsook het ontbijt. Er miste alleen vers fruit. Ook op wandelafstand van Verschillende gezellige restaurantjes.

This is a very good 3 star property, clean, great outlook over the lake. It was very convenient for us and our Safari driver. Great value for money for a night or two. If you are going for dinner I'd recommend Chef Lady - 700m walk. Very very good. Breakfast was good too.

The place is located just by the beautiful lake. On a nice day you can see the amazing sunset from the hotel. The pool is very nice. Room is clean. The manager Nimal is super friendly. He is also the chef and cooks very delicious food. Nimal helped arrange our Safari tour at Yala National Park and the transportation from Tissa to Sigiria! Highly recommended for people who are staying at Tissa for the Safari.

Very quiet hotel, we were slightly off season I believe. Check in was good, grabbed lunch and it was tasty - flies are annoying but what can you do near a lakeside. Rooms were spacious & comfortable, bathroom was clean and also big. Recommend to go out earlier into town as well for food, as taxis can be hard to find - ubers are around 8-10 minute waits.

Communication could have been better in regards to the safari we booked through them as we didn't know the zone or any information really - including upon check in with them questioning when we wanted to do it however I thought I had booked the date 4 months prior upon pre booking the hotel, so slightly alarmed to find out on arrival it wasn't actually booked yet - maybe because lower season so they knew it wouldn't be booked out but as soon as we were on the safari it was truly amazing and well priced. We couldn't have been more happy that the hotel had booked it all for us. There is no card payments at this hotel which is sometimes hard when it is large sums of money.

Beautiful, large modern rooms that stayed so cool which was great compared to others in Sri Lanka. Large modern bathroom with good pressure and hot water. Absolutely amazing view over the lake aswell. The woman who was managing at the time was lovely and helpful when we did see her. She organised the transfer to the next hotel and also the safari. The safari guide was fantastic and had great knowledge. Great breakfast and tea each morning. There’s a great restaurant called Chef Lady which is around a 10-15 min walk (which is difficult in the heat or in the dark)

Think there were some staffing issues around the time we were there. There wasn’t really anyone present very often which is difficult when you have queries about certain things like transfers/excursions. We also missed dinner one night as we never saw any staff and had to go to Chef Lady. There’s no decent shops nearby unless you catch a tuktuk to the supermarket (not the fault of the hotel) so make sure you arrive with plenty of supplies.

Otel aracılığıyla safariye katıldık. Özellikle yorumlara bakarak bu oteli seçtik. Gelmeden önce rezervasyonumuzu yaptılar. Harika, güler yüzlü ve yardımsever çalışanları var. Otele geç giriş yaptık ve çok açtık bize harika bir lokal yemek hazırladılar. Sabah kahvaltımızı ise sabah 4te safariye giderken paket yaparak yanımıza verdiler. Hizmet kalitesi oldukça iyiydi. Büyük bir havuz ve güzel bir göl manzarası vardı. Temiz bir oda/tesisti ve banyosu oldukça büyüktü.

Sehr geräumiges Zimmer mit guter Ausstattung. Man hat eine schöne Terrasse mit herrlichem Blick auf den See. Sehr ruhige Lage, wirklich entspannte Atmosphäre. Alles sehr sauber, die Besitzerin ist immer da und unterhält einen. Es war eine tolle Erfahrung hier.

Es könnte hilfreich sein, einen Sonnenschirm im Bereich des Schwimmbeckens aufzustellen.

It was a fantastic hotel with great food and, although there were some language issues upon arrival, the owner of the hotel spoke fluent English and was very accommodating. The hotel organised a safari tour, which was also excellent - the guide was apologetic we didn't see leopards, but we saw everything else! Next time, we would have an extra day there just to relax.

Beautiful view over the lake and a pool to enjoy. Great shower with hot water and good pressure. It was perfect for our 2 night stay for Safari. We did not eat at the hotel due to having full day safari and wanting to try a local restaurant with more atmosphere. The hotel was nice and quiet and clean.

No tea, coffee or kettle in room. The staff could make you tea but it was an extra charge.

Mooie locatie, het uitzicht was effectief op het meer. Er was een zwembad, deze was enorm koud.

Het hotel was gesloten bij aankomst. We hebben 3 kwartier moeten wachten aan de poort vooraleer we binnenkonden. Ondanks herhaaldelijk telefoonoproep (ps. ander telefoonnummer dan op booking.com staat, het telefoonnummer was onbestaand), en toeteren met de taxi. Vervolgens kwamen we in een kamer te liggen waarbij de faciliteiten die hierboven beschreven staan niet aanwezig waren. Er was een badkamer met een douche en er waren 3 bedden met airco. Verder was de kamer vrij leeg, geen tafels, stoelen, geen haardroger, wifi werkte niet en was zelfs onvindbaar, geen televisie, geen wasdroger, geen strijkijzer, niets... Er liepen insecten in de kamer. Na uitchecken is het belangrijk om te weten dat de mensen geen systeem hebben om met de bankkaart te betalen. hebben ze een rekening gemaakt die niet overeenkwam met de boeking.com rekening. Gelukkig hadden we voldoende cash op zak. Helaas weigerde de eigenaar ons terug te geven op het teveel geld dat we betaalde omdat we "zogenaamd" van diensten hebben gebruik gemaakt die er niet eens waren. waarop tot slot de eigenaar ons begon uit te schelden en te roepen tegen ons. Een werkelijke schande! Het verblijf was een werkelijke verschrikking en ik kan NIEMAND aanbevelen naar dit verblijf te gaan!

The staff were so helpful and friendly, they put food on for us as we arrived late- the best curry I have had! They also washed our clothes from a day at yala safari. Breakfast was lovely and tailored to what we wanted. Would stay here again.

Sehr schöne Lage direkt am See. Der Pool lädt zum Relaxen ein. Restaurants sind fußläufig zu erreichen. Zimmer sind sauber und gemütlich.

I loved the beautiful views across the lake. I picked this hotel as it wasn't too far from Yala NP. There isn't much else to do close by, although I did go for a walk around the neighbourhood! The room was large with a comfy bed, beautiful big bathroom, lovely shower, plenty of hot water, just what you need after a full day safari! Also a fridge too! The pool was also very nice to relax in also. As I was solo I booked my safari through Get Your Guide! But if you're a couple or more the hotel will book one for you. If you want somewhere extremely peaceful with beautiful views, book here. I'm glad I did!

The first evenings dinner they wouldn't make Sri Lankan curry for 1 person! I ended up with tuna fried rice. It was a large portion and tasty. No card processing machine, which I'm finding in alot of places, so make sure you have cash!

Staff are amazing and the dinner there is one of the best curries I have had in Sri Lanka.
