The Coconut Gardens Hotel & Restaurant

Nos encantó todo, la habitación, la piscina, la limpieza, la ubicación, todo. Está a unos 20 minutos caminando de los restaurantes del pueblo. Además, como nos íbamos temprano al Safari nos prepararon unas bolsas de desayuno que estuvieron bien y nos permitieron un late check out para darnos una ducha. Sin duda, recomiendo muchísimo este alojamiento, nos encantó.

The rooms are newly built and spacious, food is good. They pack you breakfast for safari.

It's a little interior from the main road. At night, the lights inside the property area are switched off/ limited use, so it feels a little spooky outside the room when you open the door. The bathrooms have large transparent window from which you can see outside and vice versa, we had rooms on the ground floor, so you can see the next property and they can see you.

Mooie tuin met enkele huisje langs het zwembad. Vriendelijk ontvangst met uitleg over de safari. Ivm ochtendsafari kregen wij een uitgebreid ontbijt mee. Uitgebreide menukaart met eten en drinken, wordt allemaal vers en met zorg bereid.

Eine unglaublich tolle Wohlfühl-Oase in der Nähe zum Yala-Nationalpark mit schönem Pool. Hier passt wirklich alles und ist optimal für einen Aufenthalt, um auf Safari zu gehen! Wir hatten ein wunderschönes, neues Zimmer (vor ca. 1Monat fertiggestellt!) am Pool mit Vollausstattung, sehr gutem, mehr als ausreichendem und abwechslungsreichem Essen (wir hatten Vollpension) und fairen Getränkepreisen. Alle Mitarbeiter sind sehr bemüht und freundlich-man fühlt sich einfach wohl! Wir haben auch über das Hotel die Safari gebucht. Guter Preis mit tollem Auto und gutem Fahrer mit Blick für die Tiere, die wir teilweise erst nach seinem Hinweis gesehen haben. Wir hatten großes Glück und durften sogar 2 Leoparden sehen :-) Vielen Dank für alles, es war ein wunderschöner Aufenthalt bei euch...

Muy recomendable! Personal increíble, sitio muy bonito y tranquilo. Comida muy rica (en especial el desayuno, típico de Sri Lanka). Habitación amplia, éramos tres personas y era más que suficiente. La piscina muy bonita también.

Gyönyörű szállás. A szobák tágasak, 4-en is tökéltesen elfértünk. A medence a házak között van, napágy biztosított. Az ételek fantasztikusak. Nem is mentünk ki a városba enni. A safari pedig csodáltatos élmény volt.

Die Unterkunft war wirklich wunderschön und man hat sich gefühlt wie in einem kleinen Paradies. Wir hatten ein sehr geräumiges Zimmer und alle Zimmer sind zum Pool ausgerichtet und mit Balkon/Terrasse ausgestattet. Der Pool ist also von jedem Zimmer gut erreichbar und man kann in der ruhigen Lage super entspannen. Die lieben Mitarbeitenden waren sehr aufmerksam und herzlich, wir fanden auch das Abendessen richtig schön dort. Der Besitzer ist ein sehr freundlicher Mensch, spricht super englisch und kann alles für einen organisieren. Wir haben direkt nach Ankunft eine Safari mit ihm fix gemacht und waren auch mit dieser sehr zufrieden. Also man kann sorglos dort einchecken, sich eins, zwei Tage Ruhe gönnen und direkt vor Ort die Safari organisieren lassen. Alles problemlos möglich und definitiv zu empfehlen. Für uns ein 5 Sterne Aufenthalt und einer unserer Highlights auf der Reise.

El servicio en general es muy muy bueno. La comida está impresionante. Recalcar una chica muy sonriente que nos atendió en el restaurante y estaba muy pendiente siendo súper agradable en todo momento. La piscina tambien nos encantó. El sitio es super tranquilo y las habitaciones y baños impecables, está muy muy bien.

Het personeel is ontzettend vriendelijk. Daarnaast is het zwembad erg fijn en biedt een oase van rust. Ook zijn de faciliteiten top, zoals bv een heerlijke warme douche. Het restaurant erbij is erg fijn en lekker.

Highlights: Extrem zuvorkommendes Personal, uns wurden sogar Getränke an den Pool gebracht. Unsere Tochter hatte Geburtstag und sie haben einen Tisch zum Frühstück dekoriert. Bei der Safari haben wir bereits um 05.00 Uhr morgen ein sehr reichhaltiges Frühstückspaket mit auf den Weg bekommen. Essen war sehr gut und man konnte sogar einen Blick in die (sehr ordentliche) Küche erhaschen.

Wir wurden in einem neuen Zimmer untergebracht, welches wunderschön war. Der Pool ist toll zum entspannen und alles war sauber. Das Personal ist extrem bemüht und freundlich und das Essen war ebenfalls wunderbar. Es gibt nichts auszusetzen, wir würden auf jeden Fall wieder kommen.

The staff here were amazing. The hotel felt more like a home stay because of how welcome we were made to feel. The breakfast was EPIC and the restaurant food was absolutely delicious and some of the best we had in SL. We stayed in one of their new family rooms and it was spacious enough for 4 of us. The clean pool was a welcome distraction for the kids!

I’m nitpicking here as there is hardly anything to fault! The lighting everywhere in Sri Lanka is very low wattage. A reading light would be great, as would a full length / large mirror in the main apartment. It would also be helpful to have a washing line to the side of the building as we had no where to dry our clothes.

Een mooi hotel met kleine huisjes met telkens 2 kamers. Enorm vriendelijk personeel die elk moment klaar staan om uw verblijf aangenaam te maken. Tuin is zeer proper. Goede keuken met een fantastisch goed ontbijt. Hebben spijt dat we niet langer geboekt hebben.

Alles was hier geweldig! Het resort ziet er prachtig en schoon uit! De chalets zijn erg ruim en schoon, een paar weken geleden zijn er vier nieuwe chalets geopend. Alles is mooi afgewerkt! Het personeel is ontzettend vriendelijk en staan altijd voor je klaar! Het eten is voortreffelijk! Het ontbijt is erg uitgebreid en met name de kokos pannenkoeken zijn erg lekker! ‘‘s avonds heerlijk gegeten in de tuin met hele sfeervolle verlichting. De kersen op taart is natuurlijk de safari geweest, welke wij via het hotel hebben geboekt. Het ontbijt en de lunch wat wij mee hebben gekregen was uitgebreid. De driver had veel ervaring en deed zijn uiterste best om ons de luipaarden en olifanten te laten zien. Wij werden lucky family genoemd, omdat we maar liefst 3 luipaarden hebben gezien. Onze kinderen vonden het fantastisch en wij ook! Via het hotel zijn we dor de eigenaar naar onze nieuwe locatie gebracht. Zo leuk dat hij voor ons kokosnoten kocht om te drinken. Wij zouden hier zo weer boeken!

The spacious rooms, comfortable beds and bathroom (all new when we arrived). The pool is very large too. The whole setting of the resort is well thought out. Breakfast is also a party.

We had a fantastic stay at this hotel. The rooms were clean, comfortable, the atmosphere was relaxing, and the staff were genuinely friendly and welcoming. Throughout our stay, we felt well looked after and really enjoyed our time here. I would happily recommend this hotel to others. The only reason I’m not giving this hotel a 10 is because of my experience with the prices offered by the manager for transport and excursions. For example, I asked the manager to arrange transport to our next destination. The quoted price was more than €50 higher than the price offered by the driver who had brought us to the hotel. Later, I arranged a safari myself through Google and not only found a better safari park, but also paid roughly €50 less than the hotel’s offer. When I mentioned the difference, I was told the higher price was because they used a “better vehicle.” However, after travelling extensively around Sri Lanka in different vans and buses, I can honestly say that wasn’t the case. The vehicle I eventually travelled in was excellent and certainly didn’t justify such a large price difference. I also made the mistake of paying my hotel bill in Sri Lankan rupees after converting the amount myself. In hindsight, paying in euros would actually have been cheaper, and I ended up paying almost €30 more because of the exchange rate. That was my own mistake, so I don’t blame the hotel for that. What disappointed me wasn’t the money itself. It was the feeling that the manager was trying to maximize what a guest would pay instead of helping guests get a fair price. At several other hotels in Sri Lanka, the owners genuinely tried to find us the best and most affordable transport options, even if that meant earning less themselves. That level of honesty and customer care leaves a lasting impression. Apart from this issue, I really have nothing to complain about. The hotel itself is excellent, the staff are wonderful, and we truly enjoyed our stay.

Abbiamo soggiornato per due notti in questo hotel, la camera si è rivelata molto spaziosa e pulita, così pure il bagno. Abbiamo usufruito anche della piscina al rientro da un'escursione ed è stato un valore aggiunto visto il caldo. Menzione speciale allo staff e in particolare alla ragazza che ci serviva la colazione e la cena, gentilissima, sempre sorridente e disponibile alle nostre richieste. Abbiamo cenato entrambe le sere in hotel ed ho mangiato i migliori kottu roti e rice&curry di tutto il viaggio

A giugno c'erano i lavori per l'aggiunta di alcune palazzine/camere. A noi non ha arrecato nessun disturbo, nè nessun rumore, ma qualcuno potrebbe non gradire la presenza del cantiere.

Dit hotel is echt een pareltje van begin tot einde! We hadden een nieuwe kamer, 1ste gebruik waarbij een kleine ceremonie plaatsvond waarbij we een lint mochten doorknippen om de kamer officieel te openen. Personeel is extreem vriendelijk, tuin en zwembad zijn top, en het diner in het restaurant was erg lekker.

Ondanks dat alles splinternieuw was, was het toch een hard bed. Dit is wel vaker het geval in sri lanka, dus wellicht eerder kwestie van wat je gewoon bent. Voor de rest was alles perfect!

Het waren prachtige kamers in huisjes. 1 boven en 1 beneden. Wij hadden een bovenverdieping met z’n vieren. Echt een prima kamer. Alles was schoon. Het restaurant eigenlijk fantastisch en de eigenaar kan tegen een schappelijke prijs een safari regelen. Het zwembad is betrekkelijk groot. En er zijn meer dan voldoende bedjes.

Geen downsides eigenlijk hoewel de wifi nog wel een boost kan gebruiken.

Everything! We genuinely couldn't find a single thing to complain about. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, the restaurant served delicious food, and the rooms were spacious, spotless, and very comfortable. The swimming pool was perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring. This was by far our favourite place we stayed during our trip to Sri Lanka, and we would happily stay here again.

We had an excellent stay. All the staff were super friendly, especially Dinushi who was always so smiley and welcoming. The hotel organised a full day safari for us which was amazing. They give you a packed breakfast and the Jeep picks you up and drops you back at the hotel. We also had breakfast at the hotel the next morning and dinner both nights, all of which was really tasty. The staff were so lovely and attentive. We had some lovely lunch and breakfast, very delicious! The staff also arranged a sunrise safari for us which was excellent. The man who took us was informative and we had x2 leopard sightings! He made sure we had an amazing time.

Sehr schöne Anlage, abends konnte man Flughunde beobachten. Man bekommt ein leckeres Lunchpaket mit auf die Safari. Essen sehr lecker und Personal sehr freundlich. Die Baustelle am Pool war per Sichtschutz abgetrennt, hat nur wenig beeinträchtigt.

Fijn locatie met echt fantastisch eten. Het personeel is heel vriendelijk en behulpzaam. Ook kunnen ze een safari naar Yala voor je regelen. Wij hadden een goede chauffeur/ gids en hebben een prachtige safari gedaan! Echt een aanrader! Kamers zijn prima, niet uitgesproken maar wel goed.

Tijdens ons verblijf werd er verbouwd. Er worden aan de andere kant van het zwembad appartementen bijgebouwd. Daardoor was er een groot zeil gespannen en was er wel wat geluid vanaf de bouw. Dit wisten we niet. Het geluid was niet heel storend en zeker niet de hele dag aanwezig. Maar tijdens het relaxen aan het zwembad is het wel een beetje jammer. Ons is verteld dat de bouw is afgerond voordat het hoogseizoen in oktober-november weer begint. Misschien goed voor anderen om te weten.

Im Erdgeschoss einige Ameisen unterwegs, aber das Problem gibt es in SriLanka während der Monsunzeit häufig. Die bereits häufig genannte Baustelle ist noch in Gang, hat uns aber tatsächlich auch nicht wirklich gestört.

Super vriendelijk personeel, Luxe kamer. helemaal nieuw! Lekker zwembad. en eten kon hier ook helemaal prima. WE kregen ' morgens een ontbijt mee. Helemaal top! we hebben echt genoten!!!!! Meestel zeiden wij slaap hard ,maar hier konden we slaap zacht zeggen vanwege de zalige bedden

Tegenover onze kamers werden nieuwe appartementen gebouwd. Had je geen hinder van en het wordt prachtig!!!! allen het zicht was dan wat anders.

Schöne große Zimmer, nah gelegen am Yala Nationalpark. Schöner Garten mit Pool. Es werden gerade weitere Häuser gebaut dann könnte es am Pool etwas eng werden. Stört wahrscheinlich nicht da die meisten nur für wenige Tage bleiben. Leckeres Essen und sehr freundliches Personal. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt

- Goed en lekker ontbijt - Goed werkende airco en ijskast - Vriendelijk en behulpzaam personeel - Zwembad aanwezig (was wel warm water) - Propere en ruime kamers - Safari gedaan via hotel, alles was goed geregeld

- 2 nachten geslapen en 2 dagen geen warm water gehad. Hadden dit dag 1 gemeld en kregen dag nadien andere kamer. Maar ook bij deze kamer merkte we in de avond dat het water niet warm was. Terug bericht gestuurd maar geen reactie gekregen. Dit was het enige slechte aan dit verblijf.

Returned for 2nd year running so that says something itself. Staff remembered us straight away, and it was because of the staff that we returned. Rooms comfortable, breakfast and evening meal lovely...the special burger was delicious. Staff even helped us celebrate our friends 50th birthday, providing a cake which we shared with them.Pool clean and inviting

Tutto davvero magnifico: camere ampie, curate e perfettamente pulite. Anche gli spazi comuni sono ben mantenuti e accoglienti. Il ristorante merita una menzione speciale: propone una cucina locale davvero eccellente, consiglio assolutamente di fermarsi a cena almeno una sera in hotel. Il safari organizzato dalla struttura è stato un’esperienza splendida, ben gestita e indimenticabile. Ottima anche la colazione, sia in hotel che durante il safari: varia, abbondante e di qualità.

Sehr schöne Anlage mit Häusern für die Gäste im großen Garten. Die Zimmer waren groß, sehr sauber und gut klimatisiert. Der Pool ist sehr schön angelegt und von Palmen umringt. Wir haben im Restaurant sehr gut zu Abend gegessen - wir haben den fangfrischen Fisch des Tages bestellt, der sehr gut zubereitet war. Am Morgen gab es für den frühen Start zur Safari für jeden ein praktisches Breakfast Package. Alle Mitarbeiter des Hotels waren sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Wir haben uns besonders gefreut, dass wir nach der Rückkehr von unserer Safari noch in Ruhe duschen, packen und dadurch etwas später auschecken durften, das war toll.

Während wir dort waren, wurden gerade an drei weiteren Gästehäuser gebaut, so dass man vom Pool und auch unserer Terrasse auf die Baustelle blickte, und tagsüber die Baustellengeräusche hörte. Zur Lage: Vom Hotel fährt man noch ca 40 Minuten bis zum Eingang in den Yala Nationalpark.

Lovely hotel in Tissamahamara, perfect for relaxing before or after a Yala National Safari trip! The staff were kind enough to pack us lovely breakfast for 5.00am (!!) to take with us on safari. They have a lovely pool area with lots of sun beds, and each room has a veranda/porch to relax on or watch the sunset. The restaurant is very good, we had a waitress who took excellent care of us, and our driver (taking us to Ella the next day) came to introduce himself during dinner. I would recommend the Sri Lankan specials on the menu!

It is a little expensive compared to other places in Sri Lanka, but still a wonderful hotel.
