Beautiful accommodation in a stunning natural setting. The views were amazing, and with the sound of the waterfall nearby, it truly felt like we were one with nature. Breakfast was delicious, and the family taking care of the accommodation were incredibly friendly and welcoming. They also offer a laundry service, which we found very convenient, and have a tuk-tuk service that took us to the centre and brought us back. A lovely, peaceful stay with wonderful hospitality. Highly recommended!

Super tolle Einrichtung und toller Ausblick in die Natur. Das Zentrum ist in 10 min zu Fuß über die Schienen zu erreichen. Nachts ist es dennoch ruhig gelegen. Das Zimmer ist groß. Das Frühstück wird ins Zimmer gebracht. Wir haben über die Unterkunft eine Tour zu einer Teeplantage gebucht. Das hat super geklappt. Toller Sonnenaufgang und -untergang. Wir können die Unterkunft weiterempfehlen!

This place is great with a great view and in a secluded area. The owner is a lovely person, and very helpful and knowledgeable. We loved every minute of our stay.

We stayed for one night and absolutely loved it. The breathtaking views and cozy atmosphere made the stay really special. The hammock overlooking the beautiful scenery was definitely a highlight. The location is a little tucked away, and the car can’t reach the property, but the owner kindly picked us up in their tuk-tuk. Breakfast was also really good, with hoppers, crêpes, fresh fruits, and fruit juices. A beautiful and peaceful place to stay in Ella.

The Wi-Fi wasn’t working very well during our stay. Also, the property was a little difficult to locate as it is tucked away. When we reached nearby, we tried calling the owner for directions but couldn’t get through initially, so finding the exact location was a bit challenging.

A very romantic room where you truly feel connected with nature. The views from the window and terrace were spectacular, and we loved the interior with its natural materials. The breakfast was delicious, with a variety of fresh fruits and freshly squeezed juice. Thank you for the excellent service and warm hospitality!

This place is absolutely stunning. We only stayed for one night, but from the moment we arrived the host was so attentive. Its down a steep driveway so he came and got us from the main road in his tuktuk As soon as we opened the door, the view just took my breath away. He also prepared an amazing breakfast for us. If you're wanting a beautiful stay, with stunning views, great hospitality, then come stay here. 10/10 and 100% we would stay here again

The view was amazing and so was the interior. The mesh and the view of the waterfalls was to die for.

We didnt realise how many insects and lizards would be there. There were little lizards everywhere. The shower floor, behind the bed, in the door. It was a little terrifying.

Simplemente increible, pero increible! El mejor alojamiento de nuestro viaje. Que vistas, que bonito apartamento, que baño! Todo limpio y comodo, decorado con mucho gusto y unas vistas increibles, rodeado de naturaleza y tranquilo pero a solo 5 minutos del centro de Ella. Los chicos que lo llevan super majos, nos hicieron unos desayunos abundantes y buenisimos. Sin duda espero volver!

It was a memorable stay, enjoyed our time there. The view from the balcony and the town was located very close. It was a 15 mins leisurely walk to the town or a 5 min drive. The breakfast was splendid. Highly recommend.

Un peu loin du centre et difficile d’accès (dernier bout de route très raide et défoncé) mais accessible en tuktuk. Ou à pied le long de la voie de chemin de fer.

Traumhaft schöner Ausblick ins Tal und auf den Wasserfall. Kühlschrank mit Eiswürfelbereiter vorhanden. In nur 2 Minuten ist man zur Bahnstrecke gelaufen und kann Bilder/Video vom Zug machen, Fahrzeiten siehe Foto. In nur 10 Minuten läuft man an der Bahnstrecke nach Ella. Aussreichendes gutes Frühstück bekommt man auf dem Zimmer serviert. Wenn man weg geht sollten die Türen geschlossen werden, Affen können sonst einen Besuch im Zimmer machen.

Alles bestens. Die Matratze hätte etwas fester sein können. Aber das ist Jammern auf hohem Niveau.

Diese Unterkunft ist außergewöhnlich. Man ist alleine, keine Nachbarn. Das Frühstück ist liebevoll zubereitet und wird vom Gastgeber ins Zimmer gebracht. Die Aussicht ist super und über die Schienen ist man zu Fuß in 12 Minuten in Ella. Ich bin oft in Ella, eigentlich immer in einer anderen Unterkunft, diese würde ich nochmals Buchen.

Wat een prachtige ruimte met het meest geweldige uitzicht dat we gehad hebben tijdens onze reis in Sri Lanka. In eerste instantie weet je niet waar je terecht komt. Je ziet een in aanbouw zijnde ruimte. Maar verscholen achter een grote deur ligt er een waar paradijs. De toerit naar de accommodatie toe is erg stijl maar de gastvrije eigenaar brengt je graag met zijn tuktuk naar de grote weg toe. Het ontbijt wordt met liefde voor je klaargemaakt.

Alles beviel aan de accommodatie maar er staat een waterkoker maar er zijn geen kopjes en water. Misschien zou dit een kleine tip kunnen zijn.

Our stay in Ella was not completely satisfying. The location of the house does not allow you to move around easily in the evening, and you always need to take a tuk-tuk to reach restaurants or the town center. Since PickMe doesn’t work in Ella, this makes things even more complicated. The house itself is truly beautiful with a breathtaking view, but unfortunately many types of insects come inside, especially in the evening. During our 3-night stay, we couldn’t sleep well and at times it even felt a bit scary. The cleanliness was disappointing as well — the house was not properly clean and no housekeeping service was provided during our stay. On the positive side, breakfast was excellent, one of the best we had in Sri Lanka

Zeer vriendelijk en behulpzaam personeel. Het uitzicht over Ella en de bergen met bossen vanaf het balkon beviel ons erg goed. Het verblijf was heerlijk ruim opgezet met voldoende zitgelegenheid. Over het spoor loop je binnen een half uur naar Ella en indien gewenst kan je verder doorlopen naar de Nine Arche Bridge. Om 05:30 stond de eigenaar met de Tuk Tuk klaar om ons naar station Ella te brengen voor een spectaculaire treinreis naar Nuwara.

De verlichting in het leefgedeelte van het appartement was onder de maat. Er waren wel stroomdraden in het plafond aanwezig maar helaas nooit aangesloten. Kom je met de auto dan kan de weg naar het appartement lastig zijn. Het is er erg smal en loopt steil omhoog.

It was a very nice place to stay, also the view was so amazing. We had a couple of frogs in the bathroom because they climbed up the pipe but it didn't bother me. The hotel owner drove us into the city after checking out, that was very kind. The room was really nice designed and the bed was also comfortable. I would take the same hotel if i would come back.

Vista eccezionale. Personale davvero molto accogliente e disponibile: abbiamo trovato chiusa la stradina che porta al b&b per lavori in corso, ma i proprietari sono stati fantastici, perché hanno preso le nostre numerose valigie e ci hanno accompagnato fino alla camera con tuk tuk. Colazione perfetta servita direttamente in camera. Posizione tranquilla e lontana dalla movida di Ella.

Tutto nella norma, peccato solo per il piccolo rospo trovato nel lavabo al nostro risveglio. N.B. Servirebbe un’ulteriore tenda per coprire la forte luce al mattino presto.

Este hotel es uno de los hoteles con mas encanto en los que hemos estado nunca. Estás en una habitación donde está todo cuidado al detalle super cute y en mitad de la naturaleza. No hay ruido, se está genial, y puedes ir con moto, tuktuk e incluso andando a restaurantes y lugares cercanos. El personal muyyyy amable!! Super recomendable!

Die Unterkunft war ein Traum. Atemberaubende Aussicht und ein super ausgestattetes Zimmer. Der Besitzer Sanjee war ein herzensguter Mensch. Er hat mit uns geimeinsam eine Tour durch Ella gemacht und war immer sehr zuvorkommend und jederzeit für uns da. Einfach nur empfehlenswert!!

No AC, one fan, which wasn't enough. No curtain to cover the whole window. Whole room was very hot. No drinking water and no cable tv.

The location is getting used, the pictures are showing the location how it wasaome years ago. The street leading to this place is an adventure, but by Tuk Tuk doable. The bathroom needs a ventilation, after showering the whole room is wet. Because of the surrounding many animals are getting inside the appartment. (frogs and insects like bugs or cockroaches). Sadly there are also mice living inside the building which was a reason for me to complain. We got a discount and the owner apoligized and was understanding. But for future customers this place needs a renovation.

Nothing all amazing, just worth noting you will need a car / tuk tuk to get there, the host can pick u up from the main rd which was super helpful. It was a 5 min drive out of Ella’s main strip

The view is stunning and is definitely the best part of the accommodation.

Style over substance is how I'd describe the accommodation, we stayed for 2 nights, there's no storage or anything for clothes, the shower isn't great, it covers the bathroom in water and can't hold hot water for more than 1 shower, the 2nd person gets cold water. Breakfast was lovely but our plates and leftovers never got collected so just sat in a humid room for over a day which attracted a lot of flies. The view is stunning but a few small enhancements would really make it a wonderful place to stay.

The view is to die for , waterfall Ella rock and little Adam’s peak . Out of town which suited us , Ella too many tourists and crowded . Lovely restaurants next to railway , bee garden cafe highly recommend. Everything was perfect , breakfast was local cuisine which was yummy

Only something small - be great if drinking water was provided

This is such an amazing and special place. You have the whole cottage/apartment for yourself with extraordinary views of Ella Rock and Little Adams Peak. It's complete with everything you need. Every morning you can watch the spectacular sunrise from your bed or the balcony! It's absolutely stunning! Downtown Ella is just a 10m walk by the traintrack away. So the location is just perfect. Just comfortably far from the hustle of Ella, the best view ever and still close to all the restaurants and shops. The owners are a little shy, but very warm, welcoming and kind. The breakfast is served in the cottage and different, but delicious every morning. If you have the opportunity to stay here, don't hesitate and book right away!

As the name suggests its a romantic place with excellent views.. here you can go to sleep with sound of waterfall and wake up when peacocks calling... and of course if there are few monkeys to watch playing outside.. Ella is not far by tuktuk and the train trek just few minutes away.. breakfast is excellent and very helpful host. we loved our stay

I like accomodation, it was dreamy place, my best guesthouse in Sri Lanka, decor of apartment and view on the valley and waterfall was magnificent, it is very unique place, i wish I could stay at least 1 week, i truly recommend this place to everyone, owner is very helpful, I would upgrade breakfast to have more choice plus fruits...

Photos don’t do it justice, this property and the view is amazing. We just stayed in the first day whilst it rained (which would normally be a downer) and enjoyed the view it was really special. Location is also just a short walk to town (along the tracks or the road) or to some of the waterfalls. Breakfast was also lovely. If this property is available for your dates, book it.

Amazing view. Especially at Sunrise. Magical. Sanjee and his family are such lovely hosts. Sanjee was soo helpful running us about in his tuk tuk.

Great place tucked away in nature with a 10/10 view. Sanjee is a great host and is always willing to help however he can. He booked us a cooking class nearby and it was great. Pictures of the view don’t do this place justice. 100% recommend!

Magnificent views + a good breakfast

The room had a couple of small mice, as the windows / doors have gaps between them and the walls.

Absolutely incredible property! It was my favourite accommodation throughout my time in Sri Lanka. Wish we could have stayed longer.

The shower looks amazing but functionally not great, as it's more of a low power pour. Don't expect change when you pay in LKR. They only accept LKR, not USD. We learned that most properties in Sri Lanka state in booking.com that they accept USD - cash only, when the the reality is LKR cash only.

I have literally spent years travelling all over the world, but have never found "a room with a view" to rival "Romance in Ella". The spacious open plan layout combines natural rock with stylish finishes, with glass all around to optimise the spectacular landscape. You can drift off to sleep to the distant roar of the waterfall across the valley. Sanjee (owner and host) is a cool guy and very helpful, as are his family. The breakfast is substantial and delicious. I wish we had stayed longer!

• We encountered FOUR rats in the room, along with a centipede and a leech. • The bed netting has several holes, allowing rodents to enter. • While the location is in a forested area, having rodents in the room is unacceptable and made our stay uncomfortable. • Considering the cost of the stay, these issues should be addres sed to ensure a better experience for guests.

AC is necessary, there is a fan but it's not enough, because the night falls at 18h and you have to close the doors and windows so the incests and animals don't come in. Also a lot of tiny animals in the bathroom, it is a jungle but some net on the window would be nice ☺️

The best view ever, period. The place looks over farms, the railroad, and a little waterfall which gives it a spectacular view. The room was clean, but since it is very close to the nature you get occasional lizards and small frogs in the bathroom. So if you particularly dislike small animals, reconsider. The breakfast was nice and the tea they have served with it was very delicious. Bring mosquito spray if you want to enjoy the room at its fullest.

The bathroom had close to zero privacy. Better to take showers when the sun goes down :)

The panoramic view with the waterfall in the background is breath-taking along with the morning view. The owner was really helpful, he offered us lunchboxes as we had to leave early in the morning and he also carried our bags to our driver with a few minutes tuk-tuk ride. Bathroom looked also on the valley and it had a balcony.

I can not really mention anything.

The whole interior is beautifully decorated. Probably the best in Ella, sitting out in the hammock overlooking the jungle was so relaxing. The host was lovely, very helpful and happy to take us around in his TukTuk for a reasonable fee. Home cooked breakfast was different each day and really tasty.

As a lot of the previous reviews have mentioned you will be sharing with a few geckos/snails in the shower area. Nothing more than this and it didn’t affect us at all, I guess it’s to be expected in the middle of the trees!

Everything was great starting from the room, the view, the breakfast and not to forget the super friendly host. The view from the property is just breathtaking and cannot be described in words until you actually experience it yourself.

The location was little isolated and it was a bit challenging to go out after evening since this property is not in city centre and is little away from it. But again you can't have the location and the view both at one place so no regrets at all for choosing this property.

One of our main reasons for coming back to Sri Lanka a second time was to stay here again. It has the most breathtaking view of anywhere we have ever stayed. The accommodation has some amazing features including a bathroom that opens up to outside and a ‘hanging ledge’ that you can lay/sit out on. The bed is comfortable and the furniture has a shabby chic feel to it. Sanjee and his family serve you breakfast each morning and you can sit and watch the sun come up in front of you. It looks as if it is located a long way from Ella but you can walk along the railway line in 20 minutes (everyone does it) or walk the other way to Ella rock. You just have to stay here if you are coming to Ella.

Small piece of mountain paradise on our way through SriLanka!!!!! And THAT wiew!!!! So calming, beautiful and quiet! This place is made with love🥰 there is everyrhing what you need, towells, water, fridge, amazing terase and balcony, we can sit there untill now if it is possible🥰owner was helpfull with everything, pick us by his tuk tuk, took us to the room and in evening direct to Ella, (it is maybe 6minutes and 2,5 eur by tuk tuk), and in Ella is lot of options for tuk tuk to take you back to the room, you don’t need to be afraid that it is hard reachable!

Everything: Sanjeewa's hospitality and kindness, the matchless view, the gorgeous bathroom, the comfort, the quiet, the scrumptious breakfasts, the provacy -- you name it.

This place is truly stunning, dont look anywhere else and book this one, you wont regret it! When you first walk into Romance in Ella you will be blown away by the spectacular view and the stunning design. Sanjee is an artist and every touch in this amazing place has been completed by him. It really does have the wow factor. It has quite possibly THE best view in Ella with a magnificent vista and waterfall right in front of you. Sanjee and his sister also make this place truly special, we were so well looked after, superb breakfasts every morning and always willing to help and take you into town or take you out and explore. There are some lovely local restaurants 5 mins walk to the right (down along the railway tracks) and a 10 minute walk into town along the tracks or we just took a tuk tuk into town whenever we wanted. Definitely stay out of the town as it's a really busy strip and easy to get to when you want to and escape back to paradise here, the true beautiful Ella. We were so comfortable and happy here we didnt want to leave after our 3 nights. Stay for as long as you can!

Everything was above expectations

The most amazing boutique homestay you will ever come across. Completely separate from their accommodation set on the hillside with exceptional views across Ella's lush landscape. The pictures on booking.com looked great but wait until you step inside! We stayed 2 nights but could have just packed up at home in England and moved in forever. The host Sanjee was fabulous from start to end. He even helped with us tuk tuk to get us up the steep lane to our drivers who's car wasn't fit for the hill. You do need a tuk tuk to get to and fromm Ella centre but it only cost 700 rupees. Do not let that put you off. So if you want an absolutely spectacular view in a quirky boutique do not hesitate to book here.
