The property is located outside of Ella close to Ella rock, so the views are incredible! Rooms have a balcony with the amazing views furnished to spend time there. Rooms is super cute clean and confortable! The property is runned by a family that can not be more welcoming and caring! They help with everything and enables tuk tuk transport for a much better rate than in Ella (the most expensive we saw). Breakfast was delicious and huge!

Extrem freundliche Gastgeber, die super Englisch sprechen! Sie geben einem sehr gute Tipps zu Unternehmungen und Restaurants. Außerdem bieten sie einen Wäscheservice an. Das Frühstück war hervorragend, vielfältig und reichlich. Man hat einen tollen Ausblick über Ella und das Frühstück findet draußen direkt vor dem Zimmer statt. Wir hatten eine wirklich schöne Zeit dort, danke!

Der Weg in die Stadt ist relativ weit, dafür gibt es aber einen Shuttle Service. Der Weg zur Unterkunft ist sehr steil. Wenn man mit dem eigenen Tuktuk unterwegs ist, fahren die Gastgeber das Tuktuk aber zur Unterkunft bzw. zur Hauptstraße.

Heel fijn verblijf hier gehad! De gastheer is super vriendelijk en helpt je met alles! Mooi uitzicht uiteraard en lekker rustig gelegen t.o.v. de drukte van Ella. Ook lekkere bedden en het sanitair ziet er erg netjes uit, was in onze kamer recent opgeknapt. Ontbijt is heeel erg uitgebreid en lekker! Zowel Sri Lankaans als Westers.

Enige waar je je bewust van moet zijn is dat je 10 min van het centrum zit maar dat dit een vrije steile weg is (en veel verkeer in de avonduren) dus je moet altijd met de tuktuk.

Imantha, his father and his whole family are incredible hosts! They made us feel so welcomed, was highly attentive to our needs, and made sure we had everything we needed (including an amazing history lesson on Sri Lanka!) His father drove us to our next location too and he was the smoothest, most wonderful driver :) The breakfast spread was tasty, and they bring enough food to feed a village 💕 The room we stayed in has a beautiful view overlooking the mountainscape, with a breathtaking view of the sunrise! It can comfortably house four people.

Abbiamo provato la cucina della mamma ed era tutto buonissimo, compresa la colazione, ricca e bella da vedere! La vista dal balconcino lascia senza fiato. La camera è pulita e ha tutto il necessario. Beautiful place, great food, exceptional personal service! We really enjoyed our stay at the Avendra. At the first moment when approaching the accommodation you think „OMG where are we now“ but once you pass the entrance and walk to the apartment, the beauty of the great view directly catches you and the super nice family makes you feel super welcome and comfortable.

Etwas langer Weg bis in die Stadt.

Wir haben zu viert als Familie zwei Zimmer bewohnt und waren überwältigt von der Herzlichkeit und Gastfreundschaft von Imantha, seinen Eltern und seinem Bruder. Die Aussicht, die liebevolle Ausstattung, das köstliche Frühstück und auf Wunsch auch zusätzlich ein selbst gekochtes Abendessen. Einfach unvergesslich und einmalig. Wir empfehlen das Guest Inn Avendra zu 100%! Die Lage ist atemberaubend und dank TukTuk jederzeit erreichbar. Imantha oder sein Vater übernehmen gerne den Fahrdienst! Sollten wir jemals wieder in Ella sein, werden wir gerne wieder kommen!

Eigenlijk alles, van ontbijt tot diner, alles was super,maar vooral de gastvrijheid en het plezier waarmee deze familie dit beheerd is geweldig. Ze kunnen alles voor je regelen, ophalen, brengen of ze gaan mee op uitstapje.

We hebben een zwembad gemist (luxe probleem), want het was heel erg warm, maar zijn toen naar de secret waterval wezen zwemmen.

The best in Ella. The room was amazing and very clean. The bathroom as well. But I think the best was Imanha and his brother, they took cake of us since the moment we arrived until we left. The breakfast was amazing and the room has a little terrace with a beautiful view.

Uns hat besonders die Gastfreundschaft der Familie gefallen, von Anfang an haben wir uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Außerdem war die Unterkunft sehr modern, sauber und äußerst gepflegt. Die Aussicht ist der Wahnsinn. Das Frühstück ist authentisch und frisch. Der Tuktuk Service der Familie ist sehr zu empfehlen und hat uns die perfekten Sightseeingmöglichkeiten gegeben.

Las vistas son increíbles, nada como disfrutar de un delicioso desayuno local con vistas a las montañas de Ella y sus alrededores. Te gestionan todos los desplazamientos (no incluidos en el precio de la habitación) y te asesoran perfectamente sobre todas las actividades y planes para hacer en los alrededores.

Struttura a conduzione familiare con tre cottage con terrazzo e bellissima vista completamente indipendenti, la colazione e la cena vengono servite direttamente in terrazza, ognuno con la propria privacy. Cibo cucinato al momento, buonissimo, con specialità locali. Il personale è cordiale, attento ad ogni richiesta, simpatico, e da consigli per qualsiasi escursione si voglia fare. La posizione in alto in mezzo alla natura da un senso di pace e tranquillità per staccare dal caos cittadino. Consigliatissimo!! Ci ritornerei

Posizionato a circa 3 km dal centro di Ella ma gode di una posizione con una vista strasforica. Si può cenare con cibo squisito e con una vista mozzafiato. Anche la camera all'interno, anche se piccola, è ben curata e in linea con il posto in cui ci si trova. Il personale è super gentile e simpatico. La colazione è ricca con diverse prelibatezze tipiche.

Che ci sono rimasto solo una notte.

We had an amazing stay, the room was comfortable and we loved sitting out and watching the train go by. Imantha was a wonderful host and went above and beyond to make our stay very special. He helped us every step of the way, his warmth and kindness is what makes this place the best place to stay in Ella! Wauw, wat een adembenemend uitzicht en wat een geweldig appartement! Groot terras en ook binnen is er veel ruimte. We verbleven met zijn vieren en hebben volop genoten. Deze gastheer verdient een prijs voor de beste gastheer van Sri Lanka. Hij en zijn familie doen er alles aan om het verblijf tot een groot succes te maken. Het ontbijt was spectaculair, elke dag opnieuw en we hebben genoten van de activiteiten en excursies die we getipt kregen. Zoals zwemmen in en bij een waterval (aanrader!), wandelen naar het hoogste punt en de brug (prachtige wandeling!), 40 minuten rijden in de 'beroemde' trein met het spectaculaire uitzicht. Hartelijk dank voor een onvergetelijk bezoek aan Ella!

It was a lovely private chalet, with terrace overlooking Ella, where breakfast was served at the time you wanted every morning. A great selection of food which was different every day including a fresh fruit platter each of local fruits some of which were grown on the property. The family were super welcoming and made us feel at home. Imantha suggested an itinerary for two days based on the things we enjoy doing as well as restaurant and spa recommendations in the area. They also have a tuk tuk and are very happy to pick you up and take you places for a reasonable charge.

Super friendly host! The location was beautiful, surrounded by nature. The city centre was approximately a 10 minute drive away, totally fine by us. We’ve had amazing local breakfast at our own terrace.

We loved everything about this place. The view is amazing and the breakfast is very complete, with lot of different local fruits. This is a family business but, unlike many others, you always have your privacy, and the hosts are very kind and helpful. We definitely recommend this place! It is located around 30 min by foot from Ella town, but the hosts are always available to bring you to/from the city centre. It is a place far from the noise of the city, completely emerged in the forest, which gives you a very authentic experience

They are incredibly polite, attentive, and genuinely invested in ensuring you have a perfect stay.The rooms are clean, spacious, and we highly appreciated having a kitchen and a separate seating area. Every single morning, we were treated to an amazing, high-quality breakfast served alongside a stunning mountain view—a true daily highlight.The property is located a little out of town, which was actually a massive plus for us. It offered a peaceful escape completely away from the main road traffic and noise. Transport is never an issue because the family provides tuk-tuk rides to town and the surrounding areas for a very fair, competitive price. They even took us on a waterfall tour that was absolutely excellent, and they can arrange transport to our next destination if needed. Overall, this loving and caring family went above and beyond to meet our every need. We cannot recommend Guest Inn Avendra enough if you want a perfect, heartwarming stay in Ella!

We had the best time! Imantha and his family were so welcoming and kind. The home stay is tucked away on one of the hills above Ella, so the views are fantastic. It is a short tuktuk ride down to Ella and about 15 min to 9 Arches Bridges. Imantha took us there and showed us around and arranged the whole next day for uns. Breakfast is awesome and the home dinner is delicious. 10/10

Ons huisje zat op een geweldige plek met uitzicht over de bergen en de spoorlijn. De zonsopkomst was prachtig. Het huisje zelf ook. Van alle gemakken voorzien. Zelfs gratis minibar. Het ontbijt is mega uitgebreid. Vers gemaakt. Heel veel soorten fruit. De host is mega aardig en behulpzaam. Echt aanrader om te verblijven.

Ein wahnsinnig schöner Ausblick auf die Bergregion Ella bei jeder Mahlzeit. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Das lokale Essen ist sehr lecker. Zimmer ist schön gestaltet, Bett ist ok.

We couldn’t have met a nicer guest house family. Imantha and his family welcomed us as though we were old friends, always going out of their way to make us feel at home and helping with anything we needed. Our little room, perched high above Ella like a swallow’s nest, was wonderfully private, cozy, and peaceful. The deck outside, complete with a comfortable daybed overlooking the town, quickly became our favourite place to read, listen to the birds, and watch the monkeys pass by. Being so high up also meant cooler temperatures—a welcome escape after warm days exploring. The breakfast was simply outstanding, without question the best we enjoyed during our 20 days travelling through Sri Lanka. If you’re looking for genuine hospitality, a beautiful setting, and a stay that feels more like coming home than checking into accommodation, this is it. If we’re ever back in Ella, we already know exactly where we’ll be staying.

Vsetko bolo uzasne, mali sme krasny vyhlsd, neskutocne dobre ranajky, uzasny servis. Ak by sme sa znova vratili do Elly tak jedine sem. Je to trochu dalej od centra ale viete sa tam prejst pešo po kolajniciach, velmi krasna prechadzka s vyhladmi. Imantha bol uzasny, doporucil a pomohol nam vybavit cestu vlakom s epickym vyhladom, vzdy bol k dispozici na whatsapp, uzasne komunikoval, dokonca nas odviezol do Arugam bay.

The property is gorgeous, it is a family run guest house with 3 bedrooms. Our room had a balcony with a large high couch facing the mountains for you to watch the sunrise/sunset. Our host Imantha was fantastic, he sorted all out transfers around Ella for us and helped us with our itinerary of Ella as we were only there for the days. The Inn has its own tuk tuk so for a small extra fee you can be dropped wherever //where you need so this was AMAZING for us during our stay as we love adventuring around. The food was magnificent, we came out to a delicious breakfast in the morning! We highly recommend Guest Inn Avendra ! We will be back next time we are in Ella.

De accomodatie is gelegen op een hele mooie plek net buiten het centrum. Een Oase van rust met vanaf het terras een prachtig uitzicht om de bergen en zonsopgang. De gastheer is heel vriendelijk en heeft alles gedaan om het ons naar de zin te maken. Veruit de beste gastheer (eigenaar) in jaren! Ontbij was voortreffelijk en de kamer schoon, ruim en de bedden zeer comfortabel. En net als vanaf het terras ook vanuit bed zicht op d bergen en de opkomende zon.

The location and the whole setup were fantastic. Though there is a little bit of accessibility issue, the Imantha ensured we never had any problem. Imantha helped us a lot in choosing the best restaurant in the town too. The view from the stay is amazing, serene, quiet and peaceful. Imantha and his family are incredibly kind and attentive hosts; they always made sure we had everything we needed and were well looked after. Aside from that, the breakfasts were excellent and could have filled us up for the day twice over, the view from the balcony was stunning (especially at sunrise), and the location is excellent if you don't mind a 35 minute stroll to town along the rail line (also v close to the start of the Ella Rock hike)

Tout !! Tout était exceptionnel ! C’est la meilleure étape de mon voyage au Sri Lanka. Déjà l’endroit en lui même est magnifique, les chambres ont une vue incroyable sur la vallée de Ella. J’ai adoré le petit déjeuné préparé spécialement par la maman de Imantha, il était tellement délicieux, et manger face à cette vue c’était incroyable. Ensuite Imantha est tellement accueillant, il fait tout pour ses guests, est au petit soin, à l’écoute et super arrangeant pour nous faire passer le meilleur des séjours. J’étais tellement triste de ne pas rester plus de 2 nuits, je vous conseille 3 pour bien profiter de l’établissement et de la vie à Ella. Encore merci à Imantha et sa famille pour ce séjour incroyable !!

The place had a very homely warm feel. The family who ownes and runs the inn ,were very attentive, looked after all our needs, gave us excellent ideas for planning our day. The mama chef made us flavourful food and we tasted amazing srilankan breakfast items and varieties of fruit. The room was comfortable and thoughtfully planned. The views from the attached balcony were awesome. Definitely a lovely place to stay

The hospitality of the host was exceptional and made us feel very welcome throughout the stay. The food was delicious, host was friendly and helpful, and the view from the property was beautiful. The host also helped arrange transportation to and from the town center at a reasonable price and shared great recommendations on things to do and explore in Ella. Overall, it was excellent value for money and a very comfortable experience.

The property is located a little away from the town center, so transportation may be needed at times.

Die Gastfreundschaft von Imantha war wirklich aussergewöhnlich und etwas, das wir so selten erlebt haben. Er hat uns persönlich am Bahnhof abgeholt und sich einen Tag Zeit genommen, um uns verschiedene Spots rund um Ella zu zeigen. Am Ende hat er uns sogar weiter nach Weligama gefahren – eine Herzlichkeit und Hilfsbereitschaft, die alles andere als selbstverständlich ist. Die Unterkunft ist frisch renoviert, sehr schön eingerichtet und traumhaft mitten im Dschungel gelegen. Man fühlt sich sofort wohl und kann perfekt abschalten. Auch das Frühstück war unglaublich lecker, mit vielen exotischen Früchten und viel Liebe zubereitet. Dieser Aufenthalt wird uns definitiv lange in Erinnerung bleiben – und mit Imantha haben wir nicht nur einen tollen Gastgeber, sondern einen neuen Freund gewonnen. Absolute Empfehlung!

Family driven business. Imantha, his brother and his mom are all very helpful and made me feel at home. Location is a bit tricky, but once you get there you don’t want to leave anymore. Very comfortable and spacious room with balcony facing the Ella mountains. Quite ac and very comfortable bed under mosquito net. Bathroom has just been remolded and looks nice too. Breakfast is from another world, using local cuisine with fresh fruits, pancakes, omelete, and few more other things that I don’t know how to write. I also had dinner there and pasta was amazing. I really recommend staying at Avendra Inn if you’re looking for a good price, quiet and comfortable place. If next time in Ella I’ll stay there for sure.

En el momento en que llegamos a casa de Imantha nuestra energía cambió, un alojamiento lleno de paz y muy bonito. Su anfitrión hace todo lo posible porque tú estancia sea increíble. A pesar de que el alojamiento está algo alejado ( 10 min) de Ella Imantha te lleva y te recoge de donde necesites. Íbamos a cenar en el centro de Ella y al final decidimos que como en su casa en ningún sitio y acertamos. La mamá de Imantha nos preparó una cena deliciosa y cenamos en la terraza con el sonido de los pájaros muy tranquilos. El alojamiento tiene todo lo necesario, cama muy cómoda.

Where can I even start? From the first moment, Imantha and his family welcomed us with open arms and kindness and provided us with everything we needed for a perfect stay. Beautiful views, delicious home cooked food, transport, plans for the day were all arranged as we needed. We could not have asked for more! Guest inn Avendra truly felt like a home away from home. I wish there was an option to provide a bigger score than 10!

This is an absolute gem of a property. It is basically a family that host you at rooms they built next to their home. They are truly locals and beyond being the kindest (and literally I’d challenge anyone to find anyone kinder) people, they’ve also built a truly beautiful nest for their guests. The view is beyond words, the breakfast is the best we had in our whole trip and it felt magical to spend a few days there. They are very helpful as well with all the plans you have. This is an amazing place and cannot recommend enough!

Very helpful lovely family with nothing too much trouble. I requested a gluten free breakfast and they went out of their way to make me special Sri Lankan gluten free breakfast foods. Lovely location with great views.

Just very minor things like low water pressure and not much room to put luggage.

Best stay in all of Sri Lanka! Imantha was very accomodating arranging all transport and offering 10/10 suggestions. The accomodation and breakfast were stellar.

Een geweldige cottage met terras dat op het dal kijkt en op de spoorlijn. Het uitgebreide ontbijt met 15 soorten fruit werd op het eigen terras geserveerd. Superlieve en enthousiaste gastheer.

Het was helemaal geweldig! Super vriendelijke ontvangst en tijdens ons hele verblijf ontbrak het ons aan niks. Een geweldig ontbijt, met lekkere lokale dingen en heel veel lekker fruit. Ook bereiden ze graag avondeten en zoals alles was ook dit heerlijk. Het uitzicht is magnifiek. We komen zeker terug bij Imantha en zijn familie.

Where do we start, as there was nothing to fault. Imantha and family went above and beyond to make our stay memorable, comfortable and special. Beautiful setting with breathtaking views from the balcony and rooms, excellent breakfasts, and evening meal if required. Imantha was a great guide to the local area.

The view was incredible! It’s a bit of a hike up to the hotel from the town but it’s sooo worth it! We were a 10 minute walk to the start of the Ella Rock trail, so we were able to summit for sunrise and it was spectacular. Staff super friendly and breakfast was nice.
