Rien c’était parfait!!

Prachtige plek met mooiste uitzicht op de waterval. Kamer was basic maar prima met een fijn bed Badkamer was op t randje, met wat kleine aanpassingen kan t allemaal net wat netter. Bv een nieuwe wc bril zou al veel doen Eigenaar en vrouw en dochter waren top! Zo ontzettend gastvrij en lief. Smiddags werd er een kopje thee of koffie gebracht met een koekje erbij.

Badkamer een beetje

We love Saddle Cottage! We couldn’t recommend it enough. The view is exceptional. This was our first stop on a 2 week trip and 3 nights was perfect. It is located a little out of Ella town and can feel difficult to get to by looking at Google Maps, but it’s a really quick and straightforward 10 minute walk along the train tracks (just bring a torch for the evening). When we arrived, we were dropped off at the top of the road, walked 5 minutes downhill and Saddle’s wonderful owners were there to meet us to escort us along the final 100m. They couldn’t have been more welcoming. There’s only 2 rooms (both en suite) and you get a fantastic balcony with an incredible view to look at. Breakfast is delicious, changing every day and made even more special by the incredible views of the valley. Why would anyone stay in Ella town and miss these views!! The accommodation is quite basic, but is clean, bed is comfy, room is large and you’re provided with an adequate room fan, mosquito net and fresh towels. The view from the shower is as good as from the bed! So affordable and our favourite stop of the trip - thank you Saddle.

Emplacement exceptionnel avec une vue incroyable sur les jardins et la cascade, à seulement une dizaine de minutes à pieds du centre ville. La famille est adorable et aux petits soins. Les petits déjeuners étaient très bons et copieux, et différents à chaque fois. Nous étions tristes de partir !

The beautiful view from the balcony. A lovely welcome with tea and biscuits. An easy walk along the rail tracks to Ella centre and all the bars and restaurants.

Nous avons passé une très bonne nuit et avons reçu un super accueil, les hôtes étaient d'une extrême gentillesse. La chambre était très confortable et la vue depuis le balcon était magnifique. Un excellent restaurant se situe à 150m à pied en longeant la voie ferrée.

It’s a welcoming family home with two rooms available on the upper floor, and right in front there’s a spectacular terrace with views of a waterfall. The family is delightful and prepares breakfast for you every morning. By walking along the train tracks (something very common in Ella), you can reach the center of town in just about 10 minutes. Highly recommended—we absolutely loved our stay!

Sympatyczni i pomocni właściciele. Pyszne i ładnie podane śniadanie (zero problemów żołądkowych) z pięknym widokiem. Mogliśmy mieć śniadanie o 6 rano. Sam nocleg jest podstawowy, ale co dla mnie było najważniejsze - jest moskitiera. Miejsce jest troszkę ukryte i na GoogleMaps droga do niego jest długa od centrum, ale w rzeczywistości jest skrót przez tory i w 10 min można dojść do centrum a w 15 na stację w Elli.

We hadden niet verwacht dat we met onze koffers over het treinspoor naar dit guesthouse moesten lopen en dat in het donker! De eigenaar en zijn vrouw hielpen ons en serveerden een kop thee bij aankomst. De volgende ochtend zagen we pas waar we waren: vanaf ons terras hadden we een prachtig uitzicht over het dal. Overal planten en vogels en pauwen. Het ontbijt was lekker en vers en de eigenaar en zijn dochter waren heel vriendelijk en gedienstig.

De ventilator kraakte.

Moc příjemný hostitel, nabídl nám prohlídku okolí tuk tukem, připravil výbornou snídani.Strávili jsme v Ellě jen málo času, ale užili jsme si to.

The owners of this guesthouse are incredibly kind! As a solo female traveler, I felt very welcome and safe here. The upstairs rooms are very clean, comfortable, and have everything you need. The surroundings are peaceful and quiet, which makes it a very pleasant place to stay. To get to Ella town it’s easiest to take a tuk tuk, but the owner even offered to bring me himself. I decided to stay an extra night, and the downstairs room was less comfortable compared to the upstairs ones, but I’m not sure if they usually rent it out. The breakfast was well prepared and very tasty, and the owner even took me out for a day to show me around, which was a good experience. Overall, I can highly recommend this place!

Heel leuke locatie! Het verblijf is alleen bereikbaar via de spoorweg, wat juist een unieke en leuke ervaring toevoegt. Er is genoeg plek om je tuktuk veilig naast het spoor te parkeren. Het terras biedt een prachtig uitzicht over de omgeving van Ella en een mooie waterval. De kamer was netjes en proper, wat het verblijf extra comfortabel maakte. De eigenaar is ontzettend behulpzaam en gastvrij. Het uitgebreide ontbijt was heerlijk, en we kregen zelfs een speciaal ontbijt mee voor een dagtrip. Een perfecte uitvalsbasis om Ella en de omgeving te verkennen!

We stayed for three nights at the place. The room worked fine. It was clean and cozy. The host family made the stay special, with their unusually friendly and welcoming manner. The location of the place was great, it took 15 minutes to walk to the city. The view from the balcony was amazing. We had a view of the valley, the mountains and a beautiful waterfall. We would definitely recommend this wonderful place.

The family that own the place could not have been friendlier! He can take you anywhere with his tuktuk. Breakfast is always handmade and plentiful. The views are stunning, and the place is only 10 minutes from the main street if you walk along the train track. Nice experience!

The door has some openings and they leave the windows open before you check in, so unwanted bugs may come into the room.

Sfortunatamente hanno dato la nostra stanza ad un’altro gruppo nonostante la prenotazione, ma hanno prontamente trovato una soluzione proponendoci una stanza in un hotel attaccato allo stesso prezzo.

Le paysage est magnifique ! La vue sur la cascade, les plantations de thé et la végétation est très reposant. Le personnel est très accueillant et au petit soin. Le petit déjeuner est bon. Nous recommandons cet hôtel !

Really lovely hosts, very attentive. Showed me maps of the local area, what to do, and how to get there. The view of the valley and waterfall is brilliant. I had a sunny day, followed by a thunderstorm. I spent the afternoon sitting on the balcony and watched the storm roll in. Loved it. Highly recommend 👍

Tout etait parfait : l emplacement calme, la vue sur le jardin et la cascade. Magnifique !

C'était un séjour magnifique, l'emplacement extraordinaire (il faut quand même marcher sur les rails et descendre des escaliers donc pas de grosses valises à roulettes ni des talons 😋) on est dans le calme absolu et à 10min du centre ville et de la gare (en longeant les rails) la chambre bien équipée, propre et confortable, c'est pas indiqué sur booking mais il y'a un ventilo, puis le propriétaire et sa famille d'une gentillesse incroyable, je devais prendre le train à 6h du matin il m'a quand même préparé des sandwichs et bananes pour manger sur la route, j'ai vraiment adoré cet endroit, mon préféré de tout le Sri Lanka

Zalig rustige plek tegen de flank van een heuvel op wandelafstand (over de spoorweg) van Ella. Prachtig uitzicht, terras voor de kamer met zetels en tafel met stoelen. Het ontbijt is heel uitgebreid, erg lekker, gevarieerd, continentaal en Aziatisch. . De hosts zijn heel vriendelijk en behulpzaam. Er is een boek waarin mogelijke uitstapjes uitgebreid beschreven staan.

Saddle Cottage is a hidden gem in Ella — peaceful, welcoming, and surrounded by breathtaking natural beauty. Waking up to the sound of birds and a waterfall in the distance, with mist rolling over the hills, was pure magic. The rooms are clean and cozy, with a balcony offering one of the best views we’ve had in Sri Lanka! The family who runs it couldn’t be kinder — they provided recommendations, helped with anything we needed and served the most delicious varied homemade breakfast each morning. It’s a short walk from the main road along the train tracks, but that’s what makes it feel like your own little sanctuary in the hills. We loved every minute and would happily return!! Highly recommend ☺️

It’s a great hotel for back packers. It had a beautiful view of the fawna and flora. The view of the Ravana Falls was magnificent. The host was a Mom and Pop team and were good to us . If you’re looking for luxury this was not the place. It’s a comfortable bed and breakfast.

If you have any kind of mobility issues it’s not the place as you had to climb down steps and cross over train tracks to get anywhere. You had to have transportation to get to the town. Luckily we had a hired van but we’re not able to park it due to steps and tracks so we had to walk to it.

Tolle Lage mit schöner Aussicht. Der tägliche Weg über die Gleise in den Ort wurde zum Ritual. Auch die Gastgeber sind wirklich herzlich.

It's worth staying here just for the view of the waterfall from the balcony. The hosts are also really lovely and gave me tea and biscuits when I arrived and a really nice local breakfast each morning. It's also a great location just a 10 minute walk along the train tracks to the town. Just wish I could have had more nights here.

In love with this place. The view is spectacular. The family hosting is beyond nice. Breakfast was so good. The location is perfect - 8-10 mns walk from downtown. Nice and peaceful in the country side. Obsessed with this place would stay here 10x over.

One of our favorite stays from our entire trip in SL! Cute guesthouse run by a lovely family. Basic rooms but amazing breakfast that was different every morning and the view from your room is probably one of the best in ella. It's far enough from the main strip where all you hear are birds and the waterfall but close enough to walk in 10 mins along train tracks. Definitely would stay again!

Super schöne Unterkunft in Ella mit tollen Gastgebern. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und möchten uns hiermit nochmal für die drei Tage bedanken! In das Zentrum ist man in 10 Minuten zu Fuß.

Petit déjeuner délicieux avec les spécialités de la maison et par dessus tout le gérant est des plus agréables et gentil, il a pris le temps de nous aiguiller dans nos recherches d’activités et m’a même aidé à réparer mes tongs ! Un grand merci, si vous cherchiez un hébergement à Ella n’hésitez plus allez à Saddle Cottage !

It was awesome experience. Accomodation is ran by a family, they are very kind and helpful, you can definitely feel Sri Lankan hospitality spirit here! Owner showed us a hand-written book about Sri Lanka and places to see here - created by his daughter. Beautiful view from a balcony, you can see and hear a distant waterfall. Entire please is really clean and aesthetic - in the same time there is cottage/boho vibe. Breakfast was also awesome. The place was a bit hard to find. From road you need to cross rails, then go straight until you see Saddle cottage sign, then go down the stairs.

The view was stunning! Very nice to have a delicious breakfast and see the waterfall from the balcony. The place is unique because you have to walk over the train track for max. 10 minutes from the city, what is a fun experience. The family is super friendly and helpful! There is an amazing restaurant named Garden View close to the house, i think max 700 meters. Recommend to stay here with this family and enjoy the amazing view.

It is a bit humid inside the room but that is more than understandable if you see where you’re at. And rain season was about to start as well.

Beautiful view, amazing bird life from the deck, and lovely family serving a delicious breakfast. Rooms were very comfortable. Air con not required. So fun to have to walk the train line to get to the property!

Die Familie ist super nett und die Aussicht grandios. Da es keine AC gibt, muss man früh morgens und abends gut lüften, dann ist das Zimmer aber sehr angenehm. Auch die Lage zur Stadt ist super, wenn man den Weg über die Schienen geht (wie alle hier).

Dir Toilettenbrille war etwas alt und könnte mal erneuert werden, ansonsten war alles super :)

El entorno es maravilloso, las vistas espectaculares. El desayuno era muy completo y estaba todo muy bueno. Y desayunar con esas vistas no tiene precio. El trato es muy cercano, la familia es encantadora, muy humilde y servicial.

Los enchufes fallaban y daban problemas a la hora de cargar los móviles y baterías de las cámaras. A parte de eso, todo bien.

Uns hat sehr gut gefallen, dass die Unterkunft nicht direkt in Ella lag. Somit war es sehr ruhig und natürlich. Der Ausblick ist toll. Das Personal sehr nett und gibt sich Mühe. Frühstück war wirklich lecker. In der Nähe gibt es gute Restaurants. Insgesamt eine sehr authentische Unterkunft. Um zur Unterkunft zu gelangen muss man wirklich AUF den Bahngleisen (bzw. daneben) gehen. Das ist mit Backpacks gar kein Problem und auch ungefährlich. Man darf natürlich keine super schicke Unterkunft erwarten. Sie ist etwas abgenutzter als auf den Bildern.

Super! Pokój jest duży, wygodny i czysty. Łazienka również w porządku. Śniadania pyszne i sycące. Serwowane są na tarasie, z którego widok roztacza się piękny widok, między innymi na wodospad. Cudnie wspominamy ten taras i odpoczynek na nim. Właściciele są kochani i przesympatyczni. Ugościli nas herbatą i ciasteczkami. Jest to miejsce tworzone z sercem. Jeśli chodzi o lokalizację to jest to kawałek od miasta, ale przez tory prowadzi skrót, z którego korzysta wiele osób, i którym do centrum dojść można w 10min. :) Bardzo, bardzo polecamy.

Besonders die Lage der Unterkunft war perfekt für uns - ein kleiner Fußweg in den Ort, aber entfernt von dem Trubel. Es gab einige local Restaurant Optionen in der Nähe, die herrlich waren! (Bee Honey's & Savory havens). Einen Abend hatten wir Rice&curry von den Besitzern, was auch mega lecker war und direkt aus dem umliegenden Garten kam.

Erwartet keinen Luxus ;) Das Bad ist ok und alles ist sauber

Piękny widok z balkonu, smaczne śniadanie, komfortowy pokój z łazienką. Mili gospodarze, właściciel organizuje również wycieczki po pobliskich atrakcjach. Do noclegu trzeba iść około 10 minut torami w stronę Kandy, potem pokonać troche schodków w dół do posesji - polecam osobom z plecakami, z walizkami może być ciężko( trzeba zamówić tuk tuka i jechać okrężną drogą i ostatni kawałek pokonać pieszo).

Szczeniak sąsiadów w nocy biegał po naszym balkonie i szczekał, ale to nie wina właścicieli. W łazience przeciekał zlew przez co podłoga była ciągle mokra - warto mieć klapki (pokój z łazienką w delfiny).

Die Unterkunft liegt etwas außerhalb von Ella, sehr ruhig gelegen mit einem schönen Blick auf einen Wasserfall, was uns sehr gut gefallen hat. Der Weg vom Zentrum in Ella zur Unterkunft dauert über die Gleise gerade mal 10min (Vorsicht: der Weg über die Straßen, den Google Maps vorschlägt, braucht 30min und ist anstrengend). Das Frühstück ist super Lecker und ausgiebig und bei dem Ausblick einfach wunderschön. Wenn wir von unseren Ausflügen wiedergekommen sind, haben wir auch immer eine Teezeit inkl. Snacks kostenlos bekommen.

Das Zimmer hat lediglich einen Ventilator, keine Klimaanlage. Das Bad ist für Sri Lanka in Ordnung. Die Unterkunft ist nicht direkt mit dem Auto oder Tuk Tuk erreichbar, sondern man muss noch die Gleise überqueren. Größere Fahrzeuge wie Busse etc. Können auch diese Straße nicht fahren, sodass wir nicht immer für unsere Ausflüge abgeholt werden konnten, sondern zum Teil ins Zentrum laufen mussten. Der Gastgeber kann leider nicht so wirklich gut Englisch.

Superbe vue depuis le balcon sur la cascade ! Nous sommes en immersion complète dans la nature avec les nombreux oiseaux autour. Le lit est confortable avec une grande moustiquaire. Petit déjeuner délicieux et varié ! Les hôtes sont adorables.

Difficile d’accès (besoin de marcher sur les rails et descendre des escaliers). Pas de climatisation, nous avons eu un peu chaud

The view from this cottage is mesmerizing. It's decently priced given the Ella prices and the owners are super helpful. Note this is a small cottage with one double and one triple occupancy room only, the family is super helpful nice giving you complimentary breakfast, tea and nearby. The railway track is surrounding this village and we saw the train go past by as we reached the place

Note that the path to reach here isn't the easiest. The path to the nearest road is also narrow and steep our cab driver was helpful to take us there each time, else you are looking ag additional tuk tuk fares or 1/1.5km of steep uphill and downhill walks. After this you have to cross the railway crossing and then walk down 30-40 steps. Perfect for youngsters, but consider if travelling with family. Also minor point since it's so im nature, expect minor insects and ants frequent in your room/ walls at times.

The hosts were lovely and let us check in early. The views are stunning and the breakfast was amazing.

Très bon accueil de la part de la famille.

Prachtige liggen en heerlijk terras. Ook de ligging is perfect, via het spoor bereik je alles. Heerlijk gevarieerd ontbijt en een ontzettend lieve eigenaar.

De badkamer is verouderd, daardoor oogt het niet schoon. Een airco en koelkast had fijn geweest.

La vue de l’établissement est incroyable. Nous aurons rarement la chance de prendre notre petit déjeuner ( qui est d’ailleurs copieux et très bon )ou juste de se poser devant une magnifique cascade et une belle vallée comme celle là. Le propriétaire est bienveillant et sympathique. Je recommande à 100% ce logement !
