Está ubicado en un edificio antiguo muy bien conservado. Las vistas son fabulosas y la atención muy buena. Totalmente recomendable si te quedas por Kandy.

Algo alejado del centro de la ciudad, pero te dan todas las comodidades para poder desplazarte.

The view was spectacular, the rooms were very clean and breakfast was good. The staff was so helpful, very kind and accomodating

The signage is barely visible, most auto and taxi drivers miss the location. The location is uphill which is difficult to reach if you don't have a high powered vehicle.

Buena vista is located in a beautiful spot outside of Kandy. It is worth being out of the hustle and bustle of the city, because this is a beautiful place. A bit like stepping back in time. Restful, clean and peaceful. We loved it. Also, tuk tuks are very reasonable in and out of Kandy so it’s worth it. Staff helped us with transport too.

Hôtel en hauteur ( compliqué à trouver pour les drivers) mais permettant une vue sur toute la ville. La terrasse est très agréable. La petite chambre double à une taille correcte. La proximité de la cuisine ne nous a pas dérangée. La terrasse de la chambre est aussi très chouette ( avec la vue et 2 très jolies petites chaises). Hotel joliment meublé , jolie vaisselle ( style colonial). Petit dej classique mais avec tout ce qu’il faut et sur la belle terrasse . Très agréable moment.

Pas de nécessaire à thé dans la chambre mais vous pouvez vous le faire servir sur la terrasse. La salle de bain de la petite chambre double est vraiment trop basique. Il faudrait au moins changer la cabine de douche

The property is a tranquil escape from the city though only a short 10 minute drive from the hustle and bustle. The home is surrounded by beautiful plants and the morning light is beautiful. Puvannesh was very friendly and hospitable and made sure we were safe when we were out late at night. The style of the home is a beautiful example of tropical modernism, with beautiful details.

Th bathroom is simple and there are not essential things to use ( brush, toothpaste, ..). No water in room.

Este hotel tiene unas vistas increibles. Nos encantó la decoración, el lugar es encantador. Nos atendió muy amablemente y disfrutamos de un desayuno muy rico. Un sitio muy original.

Our stay at The Buena Vista Kandy was very comfortable. The room was a great size, was very clean and had a wonderful view over the city. The breakfast was delicious and the staff were very polite, offering helpful advice and recommending a driver to take us to nearby sites. It's worth noting that it's not really possible to walk to the city due to the very steep hills and small, winding roads, but it was very easy to hail a tuk tuk. This small distance from the busiest area meant that it was quiet and calm at the hotel.

As a frequent visitor to Buena Vista I always appreciate the warm welcome from the staff and the fabulous breakfasts. Located on a hillside overlooking Kandy Lake, the setting is very tranquil and restful. It is however a short tuk tuk ride into the bustle of the city. The staff are very attentive and help you make the most of your stay.

The bathrooms are now a little tired, but I understand there are plans for refits.

Die Aussicht war sehr schön, das Bett groß und gemütlich, die Zimmer generell sehr schlicht, aber geschmackvoll eingerichtet. Man hat sich wohl gefühlt.

Leider gab es im Bad kein Fenster, sondern nur ein Holzgitter, wodurch es im Bad immer warm war und auch die Gefahr bestand, dass Mücken hineinkommen können. Außerdem war unsere "Balkontür" defekt, wir konnten sie nicht öffnen, aber dicht war sie auch nicht, es war dauernd ein Schlitz offen (Holzschibetüren). Der Frühstückskaffee schmeckte leider gar nicht gut. Was wir außerdem als etwas merkwürdig empfanden, war, dass wir nicht einfach im Haus ein- und ausgehen konnten, sondern beim Heimkommen die Tür stets zugesperrt war und wir darauf angewiesen waren, dass der Eigentümer diese Tür für uns öffnet, weil wir keinen Schlüssel dafür hatten.

Wunderschöne, ruhige Lage mit Blick auf Kandy City. Das grosszügige Haus( von einem bekannten Architekten gebaut) hat 3 zimmer die Vermietet werden, die restlichen Zimmer bieten Platz um sich zu verweilen. Alles ist gut gepflegt und sauber. Sehr feines englisches Frühstück. Tuktuk wird bei Bedarf vom Hotelpersonal bestellt.

1番広いお部屋でしたが、シャワーブースは修理した方が良いかもしれません。お湯は快適でした！

Die Unterkunft ist wunderschön oben auf dem Berg gelegen, sodass man abseits des Trubels eine tolle Ruhe und vom Garten aus eine traumhafte Aussicht über die Stadt genießen kann. Die Mitarbeitenden vor Ort waren ausgesprochen freundlich und jederzeit hilfsbereit, und schon zur Begrüßung erhielten wir einen leckeren Saft. Besonders begeistert hat uns die Lage der Zimmer: Durch die Balkontüren, die direkt zum Garten herausgehen, kann man den fantastischen Blick auf die Stadt sogar direkt vom Zimmer aus bewundern. Zudem war das Zimmer sauber, bot alles Notwendige und die Betten waren wirklich sehr bequem. Ein weiterer großer Pluspunkt war das sehr reichhaltige Frühstück am Morgen sowie die Sicherheit für unser Fahrzeug, da wir unser eigenes TukTuk ganz unkompliziert direkt auf dem privaten Grundstück abstellen konnten.

Nicht so gut gefallen hat uns, dass sich im Badezimmer und an den Vorhängen leider leichte Stockflecken gebildet haben. In diesem Zustand ist die Unterkunft für Allergiker aktuell leider nicht sonderlich geeignet, weshalb hier vom Management unbedingt zeitnah entgegengewirkt werden sollte. Zudem hing die Duschwanne durch, sodass in der Mitte immer das Wasser stand.

This hotel is stunning, built by famous Sri Lankan Architect Geoffrey Bawa in the 1960s. The rooms and furniture are beautiful. The view of Kandy lake, the temple and city are stunning. We loved the service and the breakfast on the verandah over looking the city. This place is incredibly good value, I would highly recommend it to others. They also provided us with a tuk tuk driver who gave us a wonderful tour of the sites in Kandy and was so friendly and knowledgeable.

Hilfsbereiter und aufmerksamer Gastgeber; tolle Aussicht auf Kandy fernab des Trubels (mit dem Tuktuk trotz nur wenige Minuten vom Zentrum entfernt); alles notwendige vorhanden und viel Platz im Zimmer! Individueller Charme durch Deko und Leseecke.

Das Bad und die Ausstattung wirken auf den ersten Blick ein wenig in die Jahre gekommen. Im Endeffekt war aber alles top in Schuss und das Bett sehr bequem. Daher nur ein klitzekleiner Abzug in der B-Note.

The view over Kandy city is to die for - one that I’ll remember. The location is near the city but the roads are narrow and steep, and there are limited street lamps especially at night. Have the Homestay arrange your tuk tuk travel back at night. Room is simple but comfortable and breakfast is greatly done. Would recommend having small change on check out day to avoid any minor misalignments in payments.

No hairdryer but it seems to be a common thing in Sri Lankan Homestays.

The location wasn't close to the centre of Kandy as described. More details should be mentioned about the location and the steepness of the roads leading to and from the guesthouse as I was looking for a location that was easily accessible on foot.

Many thanks for the excellent breakfasts, they changed each day but were always delicious. The host will also ask when you want breakfast and organise accordingly, and wait up for your return. The views during breakfast and night time are stunning. There's a small library and lots of chairs on the terrace to enjoy the area. We did not have any issues with the bathroom as mentioned in other reviews, but we didn't see any other rooms aside from ours -- we stayed in the one backing the kitchen.

The one issue is that around 5-6 am you can clearly hear chants/prayers from the neighbourhood, and sometimes the dogs join in. On Sunday morning especially it went on for a while. But can't really be helped and gets you up early.

The location of the property is fantastic. Place was clean.

The amenities are very basic in nature. Though room was clean, they can do better. Doors make creaking noises and bathroom shower room partition was broken. Wi-Fi was very weak and our own network worked better and faster. Very limited choices for breakfast. Last but not the least, we didn't realise that they don't take payment by cards, nor did anyone inform us through caretaker and last minute it became a surprise so if you book the property please ensure that you carry LKR or USD for payment.

We love this property. I was here 7 years ago and knew that it was a place I wanted to return to next time I visited Kandy. The Geoffrey Bawa design is tasteful and comfortable and the views are sensational but it is the hospitality that stands out for me. Puvannesh and his father are so welcoming and helpful and make you truly feel at home. The food stands up against any good restaurant. My friend said it was the best curry he has ever had! I would come back for a bowl of Puvannesh and his father’s eggplant curry alone! Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge and experience which made us feel so special. See you next time!

I liked the quiet neighbourhood. The architecture of the hotel was lovely. The place itself had a nice atmosphere.

One of the staff was too persistent to know about my plans and kept asking every time he saw me. He and his tuktuk friend somehow recommended me to go to certain places in which I had no interest and I didn’t even ask for their advice. I just wanted to be left alone. The same staff touching my hair to check if it was really wet when I asked to borrow a hair dryer was super weird. (I’m a woman.) Maybe someone experiences differently than me but the truth is it was a stressful stay for me. When I said I didn’t need change for the accommodation fee I paid, he didn’t even say “thank you”. It’s really my fault to choose to stay at this place. I should have chosen more decent ones.

Ist etwas abgelegen ( dafür hast du ruhe und schöne Blick)!

Es ist ein wunderschönes altes, toll restauriertes Haus mit schönen Antiquitäten in super Lage mit genialer Terrasse, der Frühstückstisch morgens ein absoluter Traum mit diesem Ausblick und der Ruhe da oben! Sie kochen das Frühstück ganz frisch für einen. Die Unterkunft ist ganz klein und familiär, die beiden Hauseigentümer sind sehr höflich und aufmerksam! Alles ist super sauber und gepflegt, das Bad mit allem ausgestattet was man braucht, incl Pflegeprodukte, warmes Wasser, viel Platz, großes bequemes Bett mit Ausblick… alles wirklich sehr liebevoll und geschmackvoll gestaltet.

Nichts - außer dass eine Nacht dort zu kurz ist!

Wir haben das Hotel bereits zum zweiten Mal besucht. Das kleine buena Vista Kandy mit nur 3 Zimmern ist zauberhaft von der Lage und der Ausstattung und die Gastgeber sind äusserst herzlich, hilfsbereit und kompetent. Das Curry und Reis ist aussergewöhnlich lecker. Mit Blick auf die Stadt lässt sich der Abend auf der Terrasse wunderbar ausklingen. Der Tuktukfahrer ist sehr sympathisch. er kennt gute Läden für Gewürze und mehr und unterstützt bei Verständigungsproblemen. Wir können diesen Ort bestens empfehlen!

Tolle Unterkunft mit Blick auf Kandy. Wir haben uns hier sehr wohlgefühlt. Alles war sehr sauber, das Bett deutlich weicher und bequemer als in vielen anderen Unterkünften in Sri Lanka, und das Personal war sehr freundlich. Frühstück mit Obst, Ei, Toast, Marmelade, Pfannkuchen, Kaffee für uns mehr als ausreichend. Wären wir nicht an einen straffen Reiseplan gebunden gewesen, wären wir noch länger geblieben.

Die fantastische Aussicht hat allerdings auch ihren Preis: Die Anfahrt mit dem Tuk-Tuk ist etwas beschwerlich, und manche Fahrer verlangen dafür einen Aufpreis.

Very good value for money. The room was large, comfortable and well equipped (with a kettle, fridge and airco). The view from the hotel is amazing, and the staff helpful and kind.

The shower and bathroom in general. Half the shower door was broken and the drain was higher than the shower floor, so I was basically standing in a puddle of used water while showering.

Hotel perfecto para pasar dos noches. Es una casa antigua con tan solo dos habitaciones. El amanecer se puede ver desde la habitación y es espectacular, además la habitación tienes vistas a Kandy. El desayuno muy rico, todo limpio y el señor que se ocupa de todo es encantador.

Shower cabinets need updating

We really loved staying at this guest house. It has an incredibly beautiful view. It’s run by a father and son, and they were very warm, kind, and welcoming to us. They also Arranged our Tuk Tuk driver Suda who showed us around Kandy. The breakfast was delicious, and the room was very clean. We were truly happy with our stay, and if we come here again, this will definitely be one of the places we choose to stay.

Staff location and views

Gorgeous house up on a hill overlooking Kandy. It’s an old property so there are no mod cons (except air con) but this is its charm. It’s easy to walk into Kandy- about 15 minutes but you might need a Tuktuk to get back in the dark. Beds really comfortable. Staff very friendly and helpful.

Udsigten ud over Kandy var vildt flot. Fra det ene rum kunne vi nyde udsigten fra sengen. Morgenmaden var god, og personalet var behageligt og hjælpsomt.

Det var svært at finde i mørke om aftenen. Vores chauffør måtte ringe og få vejledning til sidst.

Bellissima struttura con una vista stupenda a soli 5 minuti dal centro in Tuk Tuk. Staff molto disponibile ed accogliente. Colazione ottima ed abbondante. Ringraziamo Sampath, il driver del Tuk Tuk consigliato dal proprietario, che ci ha dato la possibilità di visitare Kandy ad un prezzo super ragionevole. Veramente consigliato!

We had a fantastic stay at Buena Vista and cannot recommend this place enough to people travelling to Kandy! The whole room was so clean and comfortable with an excellent hot shower and toiletries provided. The view from the terrace was amazing and a great spot to have breakfast from in the morning. The staff were very welcoming and attentive, in particular Sampath who was always helpful with dropping us into town. We would definitely stay here again!

There was a hairdryer, but it was not available due to insufficient facilities.
