The best place so far in Hikkaduwa. You have the sound of the ocean, overseeing view over the Indian Ocean. Great sunset moments. They also offer really high quality food. Very professional and kind staff. Very attentive and polite. It is nicely away from the busy area but you are in walking distance.

Ik kan deze van harte aanbevelen! De accommodatie is kleinschalig, schoon en ligt op een prachtige locatie aan het strand. De twee broers die het runnen zijn ontzettend aardig, gastvrij en doen er alles aan om je verblijf zo prettig mogelijk te maken. Het ontbijt was elke ochtend heerlijk en vers bereid. De kamer was comfortabel en de douche was uitstekend: lekker warm met een goede waterdruk, wat na een dag op pad echt fijn is. De vriendelijke sfeer en persoonlijke aandacht maakten ons verblijf extra bijzonder. Wij zouden hier zonder twijfel weer terugkomen! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Very nice property directly in front of the ocean. They offer meal and laundry services. As well as airport drop off. The host gave as many recommendations as well as what was worth paying for and what wasn’t at this time of year.

Lots of rubbish on the beach, so walking around it wasn’t pleasant :(

Loved this place very chilled, basically a private beach with seats outside, very nice rooms and sea view. The brothers were very kind and sorted out Landry that we needed done too. They recommended a great place A2 for dinner which we loved. It’s a short ride into the hubbub of Hikkaduwa but you can walk all the way along the beach to reach turtle beach ect. Beach bars close by it’s great for a quiet relaxing stay.

We had the family room with sea view and were very happy with it. In the room there is a lot of storage possibilities and the beds were very comfortable and not as hard as in other places in Sri Lanka. Bathroom was great and really big with good water pressure and hot water. We also had our laundry done directly in the hotel - it came back fast and nicely smelling 🙂 The owners were really nice and helpful while dealing with date changes caused by the current situation in the Gulf Region. Little supermarkets, a bakery, fruits & vegetable shops are near by. To Galle it‘s just a 25 min bus ride which is highly recommended. Great value for money and definitely worth a stay at Sailor‘s Bay

Beware of Mosquitos - we had the bathroom window open on day and like 30 mosquitos in the room - after keeping it closed, it was ok the rest of the days.

Die Lage ist an der vielbefahrenen Hauptstraße. Geräuschkulisse war im Zimmer aber ok.

Wir hatten sehr schöne Tage in dieser Unterkunft. Wir hatten das Zimmer mit direktem Meer Blick, was unfallsbar schön war. Die Lage ist auch sehr empfehlenswert, weil sie etwas außerhalb vom Trummel ist und trotzdem sehr schon mit dem tuktuk an die Stadt angebunden ist. Wir würden jederzeit wiederkommen.

We spent 5 wonderful nights at Sailor's Bay in February 2026 and absolutely loved it! The property is managed by two brothers who are incredibly welcoming and attentive and they really made us feel at home. The location is right on the beach, with sun loungers available for guests to relax and enjoy the view. We had a traditional Sri Lankan breakfast several times, egg hoppers with onion and dahl curry, a fresh fruit plate, and fruit juice, and it was delicious every single time. They can also organize airport transfers and trips throughout Sri Lanka at very competitive prices, with comfortable, spacious cars. We would absolutely recommend Sailor's Bay, it's a gem!

Not necessarily about this property, but in general, we noticed that in Sri Lanka there is no cabin shower, not even a curtain, so when you shower, water goes everywhere. Only in the hotel in Sri Lanka we had a cabin shower.

Ich hatte mich bewusst für eine Unterkunft etwas außerhalb von Hikkaduwa entschieden, um dem Trubel zu entgehen. Und es war zu 100% die richtige Entscheidung. Obwohl Sailor's Bay an der Straße liegt, hörte ich von meinem Zimmer (im Untergeschoss mit direktem Meerblick) nur das Meeresrauschen. Ausgestattet war das Zimmer mit einem Bett plus Zusatzbett incl. Moskitonetz, Klimaanlage, Kühlschrank, gratis Wasserflaschen, Wasserkocher für Tee/Kaffee, Schrank, Bad mit gut funktionierender Dusche, Föhn, je ein Riesenspender mit Shampoo und Duschgel. Vor dem Zimmer gab es einen Tisch mit 2 Stühlen, um den Meerblick zu genießen. Das Frühstück, das im Hotelpreis nicht eingeschlossen war, kostete 2000 LKR/pro Person zusätzlich. Es konnte mit direktem Blick auf den Strand eingenommen werden und war immer sehr lecker und ausreichend. Die beiden Brüder Sanoj und Dilan, die das Sailor's Bay führen, waren immer sehr nett und hilfsbereit. Ihre Mutter steht ihnen zur Seite, sie bereitet die köstlichen Speisen zu. Auf Wunsch wird auch ein Abendessen angeboten, hauptsächlich Fischgerichte und verschiedene Currys mit Reis. Wer sich für Ausflüge interessiert, findet hier Unterstützung und wird auch in dieser Unterkunft fündig, denn es werden zahlreiche Touren angeboten. Leider war ich nur 2 Nächte dort und kurz vor meinem Rückflug nach Deutschland, ansonsten hätte ich das Angebot gerne angenommen. Was auf eigene Faust unternommen werden kann, ist ein Besuch des sehr schönen buddhistischen Tempels ganz in der Nähe. Ein kurzer Abstecher morgens zum Fischmarkt lohnt sich auch. Außerdem bekommt man garantiert riesige Warane zu Gesicht, die unweit des Marktes unter einer Brücke auf Fischreste warten 😀

Die Unterkunft war wunderschön. Es war sauber,hatte eine Klimaanlage und eine unschlagbare Lage direkt am Meer. Die Gastgeber waren super bemüht einem einen perfekten Aufenthalt zu ermöglichen, sie gaben uns Tipps für Aktivitäten und standen bei allem bei Rat und Tat zur Seite. Das Frühstück war fantastisch, super vielfältig. Wirklich alles war fantastisch. Wir würden jederzeit wiederkommen.

Очень понравился этот небольшой отель. Чисто, аккуратно, комфортно. Персонал готов ответить на любые вопросы и выполнить ваши пожелания. Наверное, это самый безлюдный пляж. Напротив отеля сильные волны. Но слева от отеля есть большие камни. Они защищают от волн. Там купаться комфортно

Byly jsme zde se synem (6 měsíců) a pobyt byl skvělý. V ubytování je k dispozici dětská postýlka, personál je velmi milý a ochotný. Měli jsme nádherný apartmán hned naproti moři. Není co vytknout :)

Tip na zlepšení - kdyby bylo možné na místě objednat drinky / pití / nějaký drobný snack, bylo by to super. Ubytování nabízí snídani (možná i večeři), ale pití / drinky bohužel ne.

The stay was bliss, Dilan and family took exceptional care of every little need, said and unsaid. The loving and caring attitude of the hosts can be summarised with just one little incident, I gave my clothes for laundry a day before checking out and it was received within 24 hours. Once home I unpacked and that's when i realised my sweater and shorts which were slightly torn prior to giving for laundry were stitched and patched up perfectly. That's the level of care you can experience at sailors bay. Hands down best experience ❤️

The best place we have been in srilanka, beach side. The brothers who run the place are really attentive and helpful. They organised a scooter for a fair price. I had my birthday there and they made it special with flowers on request. On a whole a really beautiful laid back place where you can feel at home. The breakfast was very filling and also a steal for the price.

The property is in a quiet location but very close to the shops and restaurants. Our room was spacious, very clean and comfortable with a beautiful beach view. It was my third visit to Sri Lanka, and this property was one of the most beautiful and comfortable. We had our breakfast there too. Food was fresh, delicious and presented beautifully. I would recommend to anyone to visit this place.

We had a wonderful 2-night stay here and would love to come back again! Our room had a beautiful sea view with our own little corner to sit and take it all in. It’s located in a quiet part of Hikkaduwa, yet everything is easily reachable. The welcome juice was a lovely touch, and the place was clean, with a working AC and spotless toilet. What really made our stay special was Sanoj and his amazing family! they were incredibly helpful and kind throughout. You even have access to a kitchen if needed. Falling asleep to the sound of ocean waves from our room was just perfect. Highly recommend this place for a peaceful and heartwarming stay.

Dilan and his brother were great hosts, so friendly and went over and above for us. They organised our transfer from the airport, bike hire, told us how to avoid local scams, where to get SIM cards etc all for great prices. The breakfast was delicious, great value for money and the breakfast area overlooks the beach. Our room was on the first floor and our balcony overlooked the sea. The balcony was around the corner from the other rooms so it felt really private. I would recommend requesting this room if you have the option! We had a really wonderful stay and would definitely recommend staying here. Thank you so much!

Fantastic family owned hotel right on the beach on the quiet side of town. Rooms and bed are comfortable. ACs in the rooms function well. Delicious home cooked local Sri Lankan food , the friendliest of people , warm welcome, fresh juices, great quiet beach (swimmable). The team go out of their way to help you and give you tips. They found a driver for us and tour guide too. Amazing sunsets ! (Just note it is not in the centre so Tuk Tuk needed to go most touristy places. We did not mind that at all. There are food options nearby) Thank you for making our stay memorable Sailors Bay! We loved staying with you. We will be back!

The location was fantastic. We had a room with ocean views. The beach is just in front of the property and there was a covered courtyard to sit and enjoy the beach view. The hosts were friendly, kind and very helpful

We had a car so it was easy to get to Turtle beach and good eating places. If you don't have your own private vechile you will need to take a Tuk Tuk to Turtle and snorkelling beach

Perfect place to relax! Friendly staff who are very welcoming. Room was clean and the beds super comfy. Location is good in that it's quiet, you wouldn't know you were on a busy road when the gate is shut. Sound of the ocean, especially at night is wonderful. Sun lounges on the beach are a nice touch.

Not many restaurants open due to end of season. A bit far to walk into town, but plenty of tuk tuks (use pick me) and buses.

Lovely accommodation in a quiet area. Located right on the beach. Walk to the next bay a 200m to see the local fishing boats. Good restaurants nearby. With easy reach of Hikkiduwa and Galle.Lovely breakfast. Staff extremely helpful. Really enjoyed our stay.

Tasty breakfasts; beautiful view to the sea, the sunset and sometimes lightnings; terrace with our own corner; protected from mosquitoes; many shelves; you get to hear both the sea waves and the road noises, but in Hikkaduwa if you want to stay near the sea you get to stay near the road too; you also get access to a kitchen and utensils. The nicest staff who are ready and willing to help with all requests and who answered all our questions. The best beach in Hikkaduwa because it's safe from the dangerous currents. We first stayed there for 5 nights, but then extended it.

We saw a few cockroaches in our room, but it wasn't that big of a deal. Adding more hangers in the bathroom is a suggestion:)

Really loved the location, the staff is very sweet and always there if you need anything. İt was clean and right at the beach. You will sleep with the sound of waves in the night, İ loved it and İm thinking about going back actually!

It was very clean and we had the sea view room which was incredible the beach right in front of the hotel is not crowded at all and beautiful with nice waves but you are still able to swim. We were a little sceptical because of the affordable price in my opinion, this was worth even more! They have a kitchen as well or you can cook your own meals if you like, but they have very good food options as well. Unbeatable room at this price point and I can recommend anyone who is hesitating to just book it. Big thanks to the brothers that own this place who helped us with everything starting from cars to trips.

This is a great comfy hotel, with amazing balcony and direct access to beach. Rooms are fantastic and overall everything feels relaxed and cozy. The true stand out is Sanoj and his brother handling services at the property. They are really the best hosts and level of service is excellent! Had a great time staying at Sailor’s Bay! Loved our room with an amazing sea view. The staff was so nice and gave us many great tips about things to do in Hikkaduwa. Would really recommend!

They gave us the ocean view room. Which we loved! Would recommend the upgrade for sure. You have your own private balcony area, as the others you have to walk by. So it feels more private. Steps from the beach that has its own loungers. Room was a great size and a nice private balcony space. Lots of ocean breeze coming through and ac works great. Staff are so friendly and helpful when you need something. There is a kitchen you can use, which we did to chop up some fruit. It was at the other end of town, but we preferred the quietness of that. The beach was much quieter.

Maybe a little further to pop out for food, but tuktuks are easy to get and cheap.

I was warmly welcomed with a drink. The hotel owner, Dilan, was very helpful and explained everything in detail. The location is beautiful, right behind the Hotel is the Beach. And nearby there is a shop and restaurants where you can enjoy good food, such as A2. There is also the option to have breakfast at the hotel, including local dishes. The room was very clean, and the bed was very comfortable. Overall, I really enjoyed my stay. I would book it again and definitely recommend it to others.

Great little gem just out of town, booked the biggest king room which was beachfront and absolute gold with large balcony. Owners are great, beach is beautiful, short tuk tuk ride to town if you need it!

Perfect beach location, not in the crowded busiest beach, which we appreciated so much. The room was clean, the staff was super helpful and always available, hoppers for breakfast!, and tuktuk-distance from everywhere! Nothing else we could ask for.

My partner & I loved our stay here. A great location, right on a more private beach with sun beds to relax in & you can either walk along the beach to find some restaurants or anything else is a quick tuktuk away. Our room and bathroom were clean & we had a working AC. The hosts were so kind & helpful, they helped with arranging a tuktuk when we needed it, they answered any questions we needed & they even offered us ice for my partners swollen sunburnt feet. The dinner food was also amazing. This is our first place we’re staying in Sri Lanka and it’s set our standards really high.

Incredible stay at Sailors bay! The location is on a beautiful quiet beach away from the main crowd but still very accessible to get everywhere. Friendly owners and staff who work there, highly recommend the Sri Lankan hoppers for breakfast. You can hear the ocean from your room at night and the beach is only a step away. Two great restaurants to try near by about a 7 minute walk, and Cargills is 15 minute walk away

A beautiful residence right out to the beach. The rooms were nice and clean. We opted for breakfast, and it was perfect. Besides a very good breakfadt, we sat right out to the beach to eat. It could hardly be any better. The hosts were very kind, attentive and helpful and arranged a few tours for us and gave good hits about local places. We thoroughly enjoyed it. Would go back again if i ever had the chance.

Location is awesome and the vies is spectacular.

Power went out around midnight, and the room was hot for about an hour, which made everyone very uncomfortable to sleep.

I like the sea view. It is one of the best sea views of down south. Also the small town it is situated, named "Kumarakanda" is a very calm and relaxing town which brings the essence of Sri Lanka's down south village life.

Honestly there's no any note worthy thing to mention which I didn't like about the place, room and my overall experience about my stay. It is just all plus points for me.

The hosts were very welcoming and very friendly, they helped us rent a scooter (which was only 2000 lkr per day), and they were very good at giving recommendations for things to do. They were not pushy at all, and didn't try to sell us any tours or anything that we did not want. The top floor balcony room had a VERY beautiful view, and the room itself was also great. The location is a perfect balance between both Hikkaduwa and Galle, if you want to visit both. Also, the breakfast was good 😊.

The location is INCREDIBLE and you back onto a stunning sandy beach. The hosts supplied us with trusted drivers who charged a fantastic rate, booked us on the best trips / tours, advised us on the way places to eat and more…I would recommend Sailors Bay to anyone!
