Spacious, clean and a lovely view from the front porch. Andrew and Francis were great hosts. The bed was really comfortable and the shower hot and strong. We would highly recommend Hyecroft Lodge

Everything! The apartment we stayed in was spacious and comfortable, the hosts were an absolute joy to to be with and share breakfast conversation together, and both of them went to great lengths to help us when an unforeseen problem occurred with getting a prescription filled. There are not enough superlatives to describe how satisfied we were with our stay!

As previously stated, we had no complaints about the property or our hosts whatsoever!

Fantastic little place on the outskirts of Whangarei. Amazing cold breakfast with an abundance of choice. very hospitable and knowledgeable hosts! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

I loved absolutely everthing about this stay! The location, amenities, and comfort were outstanding, but nothing compared to the hospitality of the hosts. We had come from unexpected travel plans, and the hosts A & F were not only erudite, compassionate gentlemen; they were kind, caring, and generous with their time. We loved everything about this beautiful place! It is clearly the best accommodation we have experienced in our travels.

A truly exceptional stay in Whangarei

Location was amazing. We were on top of a hill and could see Whangarei Heads out in the distance from our room. We enjoyed having breakfast with the owners and having a good chat with them in their own house. Couldn't of been more happy with our choice to stay there. It was a lovely surprise when we arrived.

Diese Unterkunft mit seinem Umschwung ist eigentlich unbeschreiblich. Unsere Unterkunft hat uns an ein englisches Cottage erinnert. Barfuss durch dieses spezielle Gras bis zum höchsten Punkt des Anwesens zu spazieren ein spezieller Moment. Frühstück im Haupthaus zusammen mit den liebenswürdigen Besitzern ein Erlebnis der Extraklasse. Das Haus erinnert eher an ein Museum der persönlichen Art. Andrew, belesen wie eine Bibliothek und Francis mit Geschichten aus seinem Leben, inklusive englischem Humor, einfach unvergesslich. Herzlichen Dank Andrew und Francis für die gemeinsame Zeit ! Sollten wir wieder einmal nach Whangirei reisen, nur in dieser Unterkunft nächtigen !

Schöne Lage, inmitten der Natur

Leider durch den vielen Regen (nehme ich mal an) hat das gesamte Zimmer sowie auch die Bettwäsche stark nach Schimmel und Feuchtigkeit gerochen. Trotz offenen Fenstern, ist der Geruch im Zimmer geblieben.

Clean, bright, well looked after. The hosts were superb. Breakfast was excellent in the main house. We walked the grounds 22 acres of hills, grass and great views. Super quiet with no outside noises.

This property, including the apartment we stayed in was superbly kept, with modern facilities, beautiful views, comfortable and the hosts, Andrew and Francis were the most obliging people. Breakfasts were great and we could not wish for anyhing more. The hosts gave us an incredible amount of information about the local area and attractions. They could not have been more helpful. We think this is the best accommodaton we have ever stayed at in our five visits for holidays in New Zealand. We would definitely like to return.

Andrew und Francis waren außergewöhnliche Gastgeber mit beeindruckenden Erzählungen über die Geschichte der Familie und Neuseelands. Das Haus, insbesonders die Bibliothek, ist wirklich etwas ganz Besonderes. Das Studio ist geschmackvoll eingerichtet mit wunderbarem Blick auf die Bucht von Whangarei. Nicht zu vergessen das gute Frühstück mit unseren Gastgebern. Herzlichen Dank nochmals für unvergessliche zwei Tage!

Peaceful, calm, cleaner than clean, with hosts and a breakfast in a magnificent lodge that are out of this world.

When I got there I was grumpy. I whined to myself that there was not heatpump, that the fan wouldn't be adequate for comfort. I was wrong.

The accommodation was excellent. The design and furnishings were expertly thought out and the whole place was spotless. The breakfast and hospitality of the hosts were superb.

The property is amazing with plenty of ground to wander and explore, in a gated community so it feels very safe. The beds were comfortable and Andrew was very welcoming and offered alot of recommendations for the area.

The only thing I would have liked would be an extra blind or curtains for the windows on the doors, it was a little bright in the mornings

We were looking for a place that was not too far to drive from Hamilton that is north of Auckland so we could visit the Bay of Islands for a few days and Mycroft Lodge fits the bill to a T. What we didn't expect was the welcome from Frank and Andrew. The conversations over the table were very informative and entertaining. If we wanted to we could have stayed the whole day to hear their stories!!

The property was on a quiet private road with a killer view of the valley and distance harbor. Birdsong greeted us at sunrise. The one bedroom suite was roomy and well appointed. There was an extensive collection of books on New Zealand and New Zealand Birds that kept me reading into the night. Tea milk and coffee provided in the room. Bed was comfy. The continental breakfast was very substantial. Toast, assorted yummy jam, assorted cereals, selection of juices and tea and coffee were in a lovely dinning room in the house. But what I will remember most about the stay is our hosts Andrew and Francis. They are very knowledgable and extremely entertaining. They told about their travels around the world and meeting some celebrities, also a French chateau that sadly had to be sold. We felt like we were welcome guests. Thank You for that.

Couldn't recommend staying here more. It's immaculate with plenty of space around the property to enjoy! The hosts could not be more kind and inviting. We had car troubles during our stay and they were incredibly helpful! We will definitely be going again!

Wonderful stay at Hyecroft! Andrew and Francis were the perfect hosts. The twin share room we had was spacious (for our needs) and clean. The outside table and chairs were perfect for a quiet drink after a busy day. Getting to go into the main house for breakfast was amazing! So spacious and inviting. The contintenial breakfast was beautifully presented. Great conversations were had over the two mornings we were there. Thank you Andrew and Francis for a memorable stay.

The spcioius and comfortable unit comes with breakfast, taken in the dining room of the main house. This was a real treat, not just the excellent breakfast but also the company of the two hosts, who are both knowledgeable and humorous, great fun. The entire house is set up almost like a museum, quite fascinating!

Guests stay in a separate building set back and above the main house. The building is divided exactly in half, the main (only?) difference being that the right side unit has extra windows and a view (we were in the 'non-view" room)

It is a pleasant surprise to find a B&B that still provides breakfast. There was an excellent array of healthy cereals, fruit, yoghurts, bread (even gluten free!), teas and excellent coffee. The repartee at breakfast was lively and enjoyable. The scenery was stunning.

A superb place to stay, gated community so felt safe. Frances and Andrew were exceptional hosts. Our room was superb. We stayed for 2 nights and we couldn’t have wished for anywhere better.

The Cooling fan was a bit low powered for a hot night and a second fan would be helpful on such occasions. But otherwise lovely.

You have the opportunity, of a 7 course , setting with breakfast prepared by ( Andrew), unheard of cereals, tasty, jams jellies, and 5 choices of drinks for your liking. Very easy to find , very quiet , away from the main road ,and an easy drive into the town centre

The room was super nice (clean, spacious, comfortable bed). Andrew and Francis were wonderful hosts - providing great conversation over breakfast, sharing history of New Zealand and current events. They welcomed us into their home and made us feel very welcome. The property is on 22 acres with amazing views of the city below and a few paths in the forest and meadow for walking and enjoying the scenery.

If hospitality has a name it must be Andrew&Francis! We stayed in a lovely twin studio, clean and spacious. In the morning there is a wonderful breakfast served in the main house. All guests are seated at a large table and have time to chat and ask the hosts everything about New Zealand and the area, a stunning history lesson with special tipps and recommendations. Car parking right in front of the studio. The view from the top of the hill and the higher grounds you can walk to is incredible. We highly recommend this accommodation! Thanks again Andrew&Francis

It’s hard to know where to start. Fantastic views, accommodation was great with everything we needed, nice walk up the hill behind, simple but great breakfast…. And then Andrew and Francis are brilliant hosts with the main house almost a museum of local items and what they don’t know about New Zealand and Māori isn’t worth knowing. Thanks for everything

That we didn't get to stay longer!

The location is central to the city, private and very quiet. The breakfast was amazing, there was so much choice and the hosts were very thoughtful.

Superb location and it is the premium property in Whangarei and managed by the owners themselves. They are very learned individuals but down to earth personality. One should be lucky enough to get acquainted with these gentlemen.

Everything about Hyecroft Lodge was perfect, the accommodation was superb, breakfast was fantastic with great company and conversation and the views were spectacular, absolutely loved our stay here

For me, I don't think it could have been better and was sorry that we only had two nights here

The accommodation was superb as was the view that came with it. Breakfast was excellent with a choice of cereals and toast with tea or coffee. Location was a little out of town but we knew that when we booked and it created no problems for us.

The B&B comprises three large 1 bedroom semi detached studio units. Spotlessly clean with modern amenities. Located a few kms out of Whangarei. However any distance anxiety is more than made up for by the actual location high up overlooking Whangarei heads. We sat out on the deck in the afternoon with a drink or two enjoying the view across the Heads to Mt Manaia. A perfect end to the day. Andrew and Frances will make you very welcome. They provide a great breakfast too while entertaining you with stories about themselves and the area. A really enjoyable stay.

Our accommodation was immaculate. It was spacious, comfortable and the attention to detail was 10/10. Breathtaking views, gorgeous gardens and our hosts could not have been more welcoming and helpful. Best place we’ve stayed and amazing value.

Well, what do we say? Our whole stay was exceptional. It was set in a stunning location with wonderful views. The place we stayed in was immaculate and tasteful with everything thought about. Our hosts were fabulous people who loved showing us around their house and shared so many interesting stories. Breakfast was excellent: so many choices.

The continental breakfast was lovely, with such a great selection. The coffee and toast and jams were lovely. Also, a huge selection of cereals. The bed was so lovely and comfortable. There are no negative comments just positive ones. The room was immaculate and everything else. We went for a walk over the property and the views wow. So close to town. The company was the best.

Our unit was self-contained, spacious, immaculate and very tastefully furnished. It had a great view from the front porch, and pleasant walks within the grounds. Breakfasts with our genial hosts, Francis and Andrew, were a lively, interesting way to start the day, with great conversation over our continental meal. Their home is worth the visit on its own.

As their property is on the outskirts of Whangarei, a car is advised, although access to the town centre was easy.
