Really nice accommodation, staff are really friendly and the town beautiful for a quiet getaway
This hotel was a very nice place to stay. It was very calm and clean and the stuff was very friendly. It was also very affordable for a beautiful room.
Ryokan was very unique for a first timer like me. Staff were very polite and helpful, and could speak good English which was a big help! Would definitely recommend to anyone staying in a Ryokan for the first time.
Excellent value for the price. Very friendly and helpful staff. Quiet, nice and cosy facilities. Enjoyed my stay very much.
Really nice hotel with friendly staff. Japanese style room with beautiful views of the mountains. Had 2 onsens and a foot bath, with lounge areas. Had breakfast and bought dinner nearby.
If you're looking to get away to quiet serenity then this is a lovely place. It is removed from easy access to activities in the area, other than the outdoor sculpture park, which is EXTREMELY worth a visit, but it was a beautiful location to spend a peaceful break in the midst of the big cities on our itinerary.
Our stay at Hakone Suisen was wonderful. The hospitality and warmth of the staff made us feel genuinely cared for. They have a well-managed indoor and outdoor onsen. Their breakfast service is also lovely. At checkout, a kind staff member even drove our luggage to the train station, going above and beyond. We would love to return.
Relaxing and clean. Loved the traditional rooms and the onsen.
Wonderful hotel tucked away with gorgeous views! Close walk to bus stop and the train, you’ll just have to prepare to walk uphill a lot lol the onsen is amazing, we used the outdoor one every night. There aren’t many people so both hubby and I had the onsen to ourselves each time! It’s such a peaceful place, it’s where we ended our Japan trip. Just know that restaurants and shops close early (like 5-7pm!) and the busses also stop around 10 so eat early. We got the executive suite, so so worth it I promise!! Oh and we absolutely loved the provided yukatas, wish we could buy them!
nice and clean hotel. Stuffs are very helpful.
Amazing property inside the mountains, in connection with nature. Onsen facilities is great with indoor and outdoor options
Highly recommend!
This feels like a true retreat in the middle of a busy trip. The onsen experience is relaxing and the staff is friendly. We stayed in a traditional Japanese style room and it was a calm and serene environment with a beautiful view of the mountains.
Everything was perfect! Highly recommend if you want to try a real japanese place, my husband and I loved it! :)
Absolutely loved our stay. They were so accommodating with our 12 month old and even had a snack bag, a Yokuta, and baby bath for him. Best part of our trip so far. So beautiful.
Amazing staff, amazing stay, peaceful super clean. Would 100% come back next time
The property was very clean but a bit of a walk from the bus stop nearby. The facility has nice amenities such as vending machines and lounge room.
Wonderful hotel!!! Very clean and calm. Nice traditional rooms. 3 Minute walk to the next bus station. The only downside is that you can’t eat dinner there and their breakfast is very small, so plan on eating before returning to the hotel. Besides that a 10/10, also the location is a dream.
Such a beautiful place. With its own onsen. It was special. Calm. Relaxing.
Ontzettend vriendelijke gastgevers.
It was very clean and friendly staff but because of location and no dinner service you are limited to what you can eat during your stay. Recommend bringing your own dinner from the market. Overall amazing experience, would have been better if it were closer to restaurants or had dining service.
Beautiful quiet secluded property. Very friendly staff. Not many restaurants nearby. Property does offer some frozen meals should you not want go out. No in room shower.
Everything was excellent
Friendly, romantic and a must visit
Loved the lounge, interesting books and records and artwork, friendly and helpful staff, clean. Great hot baths, quiet and relaxing.
Simple and serene. Would book again.
As soon as we walked into the door we were greeted by the staff. Everyone was amazing. The view from our room and from the foot bath was absolutely stunning. The kids enjoyed the play area in the lobby lounge. We can’t wait to go back!
Staff are friendly and courteous. This is a baby friendly hotel.
Very good onsen
I really appreciate the staff's help with my special requests, professionalism and friendliness. The cherry blossom tree above at least the men's part of the outdoor bath was a nice touch, as was the free breakfast. The hotel facilities look quite new too. My nitpick is that there were no nearby restaurants open for dinner at the time of my trip, so I ate at other places before returning here.
It is a short walk from the Ohiradai train stop.
This was the highlight of our Japan trip. The staff was so friendly and welcoming. It was our first ever stay in an Onsen and was such a unique experience. I only hope we will be able to visit here again.
Walking distance from the train station, however, note that the walk is very steep.
One of the best stays I've ever had. Very comfortable, everything was perfect. And it's a small ryokan/hotel so there are not that many other guests. Very peaceful.
The staffs are the best, the facilities are in excellent condition, onsets are great!
I had an amazing overnight stay at Hakone Suisen. The staff were fantastic, the hotel was very clean and welcoming, and the indoor onsen was incredible. Bonus for the room with an amazing view!
Comfy, quiet, beautiful, welcoming place. My family enjoyed our one night stay. It was the perfect thing in the midst of our vacation. The staff were very helpful, the rooms and facilities excellent. The surroundings so beautiful.
Super friendly and helpful staff
This was an amazing experience for my first onsen. Traditional but yet innovative. The check in and check out was easy, the staff are super friendly and knowledgeable and made the whole stay wonderful. Always willing to accommodate.
This place is the best! My husband and I wanted to visit Hakone for an day and I’m so glad I found this spot—close to the train station (we walked)—and a gorgeous view from our room. It was so peaceful and the outdoor baths are lovely! Yummy pastries in the morning and the staff are very kind and helpful.
We staied very well
Staff was super helpful and friendly! Wish it was a bit more centrally located as the bus was unreliable and the train takes a while to get to get you around.
Beautiful view of mountains. Open site onsen is incredibly picturesque and relaxing.
Best hotel I've ever stayed at! Exceeded expectations, definitely coming back
This is a lovely and beautiful ryokan located in a natural setting in a less crowded and touristic part of Hakone. The proximity to the Tozan Railway station and bus stops makes it practical. A few shops are located nearby. A classy establishment at decent prices. The rooms are beautiful with wonderful views on the valley. Nice little onsen on the property. Most staffs aren’t bilingual but there is one clerk fluent enough to handle most of your needs. Friendly and useful employees. This hotel is truly a hidden gem of Hakone.
Staff was a bit stand offish and not very helpful. Meal options very limited
Everything was awesome ! Thank you for hosting me !
This is a very nice & quiet ryokan on the way up the mountain in the Mt. Fuji/Hakone region. If you're trying to avoid the crowds down at the bottom (Hakone) or up at the top (Fujikawaguchiko), this place is for you. If you want water, it's near Lake Ashi where you can catch the sightseeing "pirate" ships. If you're looking for an onsen, there's a public outdoor bath as well as an indoor one in the bathing area downstairs (where you can soap, shampoo, etc.). NOTE: while other ryokan serve traditional bfast & dinner meals, this one does western bfast only, so be sure you have dinner elsewhere before returning for the evening, else have to order "room service" made up of canned food or instant noodles. The staff/service are friendly and help you exchange your shoes for slippers when you enter. The only knocks (minor) I'd give are that: 1) we were told there were no extra pillows available and that they'd have to go to other rooms to take pillows from there (who ever heard of a place of lodging with no extra pillows?), and 2) while it's a short 210m/690ft walk from the Ohiradai train station, the sidewalk is quite narrow, and cars are zooming up/down the mountain, so probably not advised if you're bring super young kids or elderly parents unless you've rented a car or taken a taxi to arrive. Other than that, it was quite the pleasant stay, quiet & peaceful, no other lodging directly next door, and a great resbit from the hustle-n-bustle of big cities like Tokyo & Kyoto.
Quiet and relaxing. Staff was very helpful and informative. The view from the balcony was amazing.
Très bon séjour. Chambre japonaise grande, propre et confortable. Petit déjeuner bien mais uniquement des viennoiseries. Onsen très bien
Although theres no restaurant in the hotel, you can order some frozen stuffs that u can heat in the kitchen which i initially was not excited about. But actually this is rhe first time i enjoyed a frozen pizza which i heated in the mini toaster. It was soo good. From the menu i think the pizza was made in collaboration with a japanese chef
Beautiful property and views. Very peaceful and relaxing. Staff was outstanding. Highly impressed and recommended.
It was quiet, tranquil. Staff was pleasant and helpful. And the property was very very clean.
Beautiful property in a quite remote region, but accessible to bus and train for easy mobility. Room felt very traditional and had an incredible view of lush forest.
Spacious room offers bed as well as futon. Window with magnificent mountain view yet offering privacy. Staffs are super helpful providing tips on our trip. High end good quality toiletries. Indoor outdoor Onsen plus 24hours Foot Bath. Dining room pastry breakfast and a common entertainment room with great vibe and cosy seatings.
Spectacular. Hard to find the words, highly highly recommend ❤️🇯🇵
Quite easy to access by bus or the local railway (I recommend coming by rail rather than bus as the area is quite touristy and busses are packed) Very clean and traditional experience Stunning view from the room, and the reading area is really cute My reason for 4 rather than 5 stars: - Low beams in the room can cause taller people to bang their heads a lot - This is a personal preference thing, but the Onsen baths were SO hot it was hard to sit in there for more than a minute and enjoy relaxing
Quiet peaceful location in hakone. Lovely place to relax at the end of a busy holiday
Quiet area and appreciated the staff and cleanliness. A bit far from everything but there’s a cute cafe nearby. Highly recommend using the luggage service at Hakone yumoto, the hilly area is not suited for hauling big luggages around
Attentive but discreet staff. Very peaceful. Room had exactly what was needed, felt very zen, mountain views were great. Natural hot spring one floor down was perfect. The ability to get a cool shower just right by it and alternate hot with cool was perfect. The entrance-level foot bath from natural hot springs is a very welcome sight when just returning from the early morning hike, before breakfast. Excellent well-marked hiking in the vicinity, with great view towards the ocean on the trail up from Ohiradai.
Le staff est extraordinaire!
This onsen (i.e., hot spring) ryokan is a relatively small lodging, but the room we stayed overnight was very clean, had tatami floor and all the amenities of traditional onsen ryokans, including private hot spring bath in the room. The whole property is modern, well kept, and easy to get around. Two common hot spring baths, one indoor and the other outdoor, were not very big, but kept clean and well-stocked with amenities. I very much enjoyed soaking in these hot springs, especially the outdoor one under the moon. Unlike traditional onsen ryokans, this ryokan does not offer any dinner, only Continental breakfast, which was delicious. So, we bought some food in downtown before coming to the ryokan, and enjoyed our dinner in the room at our leisure. The staff were very polite and helpful. It was lovely staying in this property.
As advertised. Note: Take the local train and get off at stop OH53. Then walk down the steep hill say 200 metres and the hotel will be on the left side.
very good hot spring, friendly staff and excellent services, really good area, close to bus stop
Loved the rooms and how peaceful it was. This was the perfect stay to unwind and escape the city.
Everyone was so nice the place was so clean we love our stay we definitely will recommend it !!
This ryokan was really quite lovely, nestled in the woods. Very peaceful and quiet. Only two criticisms: the bath was too hot on one of the days, and the "breakfast" was a bare-bones continental (no fruit, one juice, a soup, and some pastries). Dining options were very limited near the property (have to take a train to restaurants).
Hakone Suisen provided the best service I expected. The staff were really kind and friendly, the facility was clean and nice, onsen(both inside and outside) were great, and they even provided simple breakfast! Onsen is not big as normally depicted in Japanese media(movie/drama) but the water source is outstanding. Unfortunately, it is difficult to access other restaurants/cafe from the location by public transport, so I HIGHLY recommend you to enjoy your dinner at somewhere else before check-in.
