Beautiful renovation. The property was the perfect location to walk into the centre of Sorrento. Even though we were on the first floor, we still had a lovely little view. All the staff were lovely and it was a pleasure to stay.

Our suitcases took a little while to arrive in our room but I wouldn’t say this is something I didn’t like. Just something that could be improved.

Outstanding in every way. You’ll pay for it, but everything is expensive in Sorrento. It was first class. I’d stay again!

Bei ihr merkt man sofort, dass sie ihren Beruf liebt und mit großer Freude ausübt. Ihr war es wirklich wichtig, dass wir uns um nichts kümmern mussten und rundum glücklich waren. Genau diese persönliche Betreuung hat unseren Aufenthalt besonders gemacht. Für uns war Ara Maris die perfekte Wahl in Sorrento.

We were attracted to Ara Maris Hotel based on its modern decor (which differentiates it from other luxury hotels in Sorrento) and its central location (which was perfect). However, what really makes the hotel special is its staff who were all welcoming and helpful. We were fortunate to be upgraded to a Deluxe Room and this was extremely comfortable with a large balcony that overlooked the pool area. Breakfasts were lovely and relaxed, while the Sky Lounge is a fantastic place to drink cocktails as the sun goes down. We also had a great evening meal in the main restaurant which had good food and even better service. For those looking for a luxury boutique hotel, this would be hard to beat.

We stayed at Ara Maris for 3 nights with a friend, and honestly, it was far too short – we didn’t want to leave! The hotel is beautiful, cozy, and located in a perfect spot to explore Sorrento and the surrounding areas. From the moment we arrived, the staff were exceptional – warm, helpful, and genuinely kind. A special thank you to Giulia at the concierge – she went above and beyond to help us make the most of our short stay. Thanks to her, we had an amazing tour and a car arranged to take us along the stunning Amalfi coast. That experience alone was unforgettable! The rooftop bar and restaurant is truly something special – not just for the views, but the whole atmosphere, service, and absolutely delicious food. It was one of the highlights of our stay. We also really enjoyed the breakfast, which had a great variety and was served by such lovely staff. Everyone we interacted with made us feel truly welcome. If I had to say one “negative,” it’s only that three days were not enough. We’re already dreaming about coming back for a longer stay. Highly recommended!

A fantastic hotel set in the heart of Sorrento. We were warmly welcomed by all the staff and made to feel very special. The hotel is modern and very comfortable with a very nice pool area (sadly too cold to use at this time of year). We stayed for the NY celebrations which were great fun, amazing food and great entertainment. Our room was great, so many times when we travel there is never enough storage space eg wardrobes/ drawers etc, this was probably one of the best appointed rooms we have stayed in. More importantly very comfortable. We would not hesitate to stay again. Highly recommended.

Unbelievable Hotel, the staff are fantastic. We arrived early evening to be greeted by the great reception team and offered a welcome drink, which we declined due to our late arrival. We were swiftly shown to our room and we were shown the room and working of controls. our bags were delivered by the porter and we didn’t have time to unpack before housekeeping arrived to ensure that everything was as expected. We dined that evening and the food is devine. Yes it does come at a cost but it is worth the money. The rooms are brilliant. The staff fantastic and so friendly. The detail is on point. The views from the rooftop bar amazing . It was my wife’s 50th birthday and they made a bespoke cake at our last breakfast for her - we hadn’t mentioned it was her birthday. This had been picked up by the staff. We were genuinely touched by the gesture. Arrivederci. We will return and can’t wait to try the pool in May! merry Xmas to you all Chris & Liz

The property is really modern with top of the art amenities (rooms in AC, modern lighting, blaconies etc), it also has a great location and the staff is so helpful! Not only do they make you feel very welcome and relaxed but their concierge and service is top notch

The only thing that disappointed us was the fact the rooftop terrace was closed. This was one of the reasons we booked the hotel and were really sad to not be able to see the sunset up there. The staff mentioned this was because of weather but it was a lovely 15 degrees while we were there and we spent most of our time outisde and were fine, you might want to consider keeping the rooftop terrace open in winter, at least for sunrise/sunset or allowing guests access

The Ara Maris is the perfect hotel for your stay in Sorrento. The property is stunning, rooms are well appointed, spacious & comfortable. Breakfast was plentiful with great variety. The staff is warm, welcoming and helpful. Guisy, Valentino, Gianluca & Niccolo were fantastic hosts.

The hotel was very average - very very expensive for just ‘okay’. We had issue with cleanliness, noise in rooms and aircon was not working. Management were not helpful. Was average and would expect more from 5 star. We stayed for five nights and found the service and breakfast average also. Rooms very small. I am unsure as to why this review keeps being removed. I have booking information and proof of our stay - I am happy to provide this to TripAdvisor if helpful.

We spent three amazing nights at the Ara Maris for a birthday weekend away. The hotel is in a perfect location for exploring Sorrento and has lovely decor throughout. All the staff were helpful, attentive and polite and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our stay. Special touches to celebrate my husbands birthday were organised and we had welcome drinks on arrival as well as been shown around our room on arrival to make sure we were happy with everything. The food at breakfast was delicious and there was a good variety to choose from. We enjoyed a couple of visits to the spa which was lovely and relaxing and included as part of our stay. The roof top bar was particularly special and had great views across Sorrento. We would definitely visit again and can’t fault anything at the hotel. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Everything about the Ara Maris Hotel was exceptional. The room, the comfy bed, the view from our balcony, the food and, especially, the very kind staff.

The hotel had fantastic reviews and photos — we always use Trustpilot or TripAdvisor before booking. This hotel was rated 5* (with prices to match), and we were so excited to arrive for an amazing stay. Sadly, that wasn’t the case. (1) The room was very, very small, the bathroom had only one sink, and the shower leaked all across and onto the tiled floor, making it slippery and unsafe. We didn’t have enough towels and had to request more each day to mop up the water. (2) The room did not feel clean. Which for such a small room felt simple but important. We found a few dead beetles (which were never removed and remained throughout the stay), marks on the bed sheets and walls, stains in the toilet, and mould or limescale in the bathroom. The shower tiles were tired and uneven (catching toes!). There was also noticeable dust throughout. (3) Upon arrival we were offered a “welcome drink”, which turned out to be water or juice — alcoholic drinks had to be paid for separately (at quite high prices). (4) The rooftop bar, which we were particularly excited to visit, was closed for the entire duration of our stay for no clear reason. (5) The water provided in the room appeared to be refilled tap water — it smelled musty and was not drinkable. When we raised this and explained that we had used the ‘mini bar’ water instead (it was gone midnight), we were charged for it. The refillable ‘fill them yourself’ bottles we were given also seemed to have been used previously, as they were damp and didn’t smell fresh. (6) The sea view was acceptable but not as shown in the key promotional photos. (7) The air-conditioning did not work and was never fixed, despite multiple requests. We weren’t offered an alternative room. Sleeping was uncomfortable and we woke up feeling tired and hot. (8) The room was bright and noisy through the night — no blackout curtains and the heavy traffic was continuous outside. We couldn’t open the windows due to the noise, and without working air-con, it became hot and stuffy. We were woken early most mornings by traffic, trucks emptying bottles and people shouting. When we were shown the room, the attendant said the doors were soundproofed, which we had checked in advance, but that wasn’t our experience. (9) Replacement towels and toilet rolls were given one at a time upon request. Toiletries came in small single bottles, with no refills provided during our stay. Our bins were not emptied on a daily basis, the bathroom scales didn’t work etc. Disappointing and having to repeatedly ask for basics each day became frustrating. (10) The complimentary dressing gown had makeup marks on it and appeared used. Again, not the end of the world, but not what we’d expect from a five-star hotel. (11) breakfast was fine, the selection average. But again not what we have come to expect from a five star establishment. We asked for salt/pepper, glasses, culterly and ‘wobbly’ table fixes every morning of our stay. Overall, the experience was closer to what I’d expect from a 2-3 star establishment. I travel regularly for both work and leisure and stay in many really wonderful 5-star hotels — this one, unfortunately, didn’t meet that standard. At c. £800 per night, it didn’t reflect the quality or service we expected. The most disappointing part was the lack of response from management and service staff. We raised issues daily, but nothing was done to resolve them. The manager was aware of our concern but didn’t address them during our stay and hasn’t contacted us since. On one occasion, I waited outside the managers office for quite some time while staff tried to find him. When we finally spoke, he seemed to focus more on explaining that other guests hadn’t raised concerns rather than helping to resolve ours. He did send a bottle of sparkling wine to our room on the last night as a gesture, but it didn’t feel proportionate to the issues we had faced and we declined. On our final day, the manager assured me he’d review the situation overnight and resolve it before our departure. However, the next morning I was told he wasn’t available. I have not heard back since returning home over two weeks ago. During our stay, I noticed that a list containing guest names was left visible, which made me uncomfortable from a privacy perspective. It appeared that personal information was not properly secured — something I would expect a hotel of this standard to handle more carefully Overall, this was a very disappointing experience in what is otherwise a beautiful destination. We still haven’t heard back from the manager. The upside however is that Sorrento is well worth the visit - a beautiful location and so many wonderful places to visit and amazing experiences! Sadly we won’t be staying here again.

Pros- location, clean, modern Cons-not worth what we paid for,didn’t get room we paid for, food and drink double price, staff would rather talk to staff then guests, only one staff member Valentino gave the care and attention that should be at hotel of this cost. Pool deck slippery and when my husband slipped, next day a yellow caution sign was put there. Breakfast was a disappointment for a hotel like this. I splurged on this hotel as it was the last one of our holdings and it was the most disappointing, all toners previous were 3-4 star and were better than this.

Great location, within walking distance to train station, bus depot and all the action. Modern hotel with spacious rooms. Breakfast spread is fantastic. Staff are courteous and helpful. Great amenities including a large outdoor pool/patio, fitness gym, spa and large lobby with lots of places to sit and read a book. Good wifi

Spent 6 nights in this wonderful hotel which is perfectly located near the beautiful centre of Sorrento. All of the staff were very helpful and friendly, they couldn’t do enough for us. Breakfast was excellent and the cocktails on rooftop bar were a real treat. Overall it was an exceptional stay, I would definitely come again!

The Ara Maris Hotel & Spa was our heaven in Sorrento. We had an incredible time. Not ony is Sorrento a wonderful city, but the hotel was perfection. Thank you to Vittorio and the rest of the amazing staff at Ara Maris for making our stay a memory of a lifetime. Grazie mille!!

This Was by all meaning the perfect getaway in Sorrento downtown. Perfectly located, lavish spa, excellent staff and food to die for. I will surely come back!

We stayed three nights to celebrate my 50th birthday and Ara Maris made it so special. Every team member throughout the hotel was wonderful. A special mention to Gaetano who runs the breakfast service every morning with his team. They were the friendliest, most wonderful people and I was always addressed by name which was a nice gesture. They organised breakfast for nine of us with our own reserved table and a cake. The spa, gardens and pool are beautiful. Room service was quick and friendly. And the rooftop bar is lovely, especially at sunset. I only wish we could have stayed longer. A 5* review from me without any question

My fiancé and I came here to celebrate our engagement, and Sorrento is a very special place for us because we are getting married here in a year! We stayed at Ara Maris for the first time and now every time we come back to Sorrento, this will always be where we check into. The rooms are newly renovated and modern, the staff was the friendliest, the spa/sauna was a great addition to wind down during the evening, and the views from the rooftop and our balcony were truly unbeatable. If you’re visiting Sorrento, you HAVE to stay here!

We stayed 2 nights is a Sea View Suite. The room was very nice but small with 3 people as were wet traveling with our daughter. The staff was great and helped us book a cooking class which was a highlight of our trip. The pool area is gorgeous but the pool is not heating so it in unusable in October. The location of the hotel is perfect. We would recommend the hotel for couples but if you are traveling with 3 or more people the rooms are too small for anything more than a couple nights. Sorrento our favorite city that we visited.

Very professional and accommodating staff.

Stayed here mid Sept - booked through BA Holidays - quality hotel - we had a superior garden view room which was out the front - which is I think the standard room at the Ara Maris - we thought we’d be out the back when we booked and the road out the front is quite busy - but in the end it didn’t matter as the double glazing is good so the room was quiet and you could see Vesuvius (and just pick out the sea between the land and the sky!) from the balcony. Room not massive but clean, comfortable. It’s a modern hotel - functional but stylish - pool at the back which was fantastic in the afternoon after a hard day’s sightseeing - though even at 27degree heat in the day it was bit chilly to swim in September. Staff at the hotel excellent, efficient and friendly , we ate at the pool and food very good, breakfast good quality also. Drinks as you’d expect are quite expensive. Hotel is well located - 2 mins from the piazza Tasso and the old town in Sorrento, short walk to the station to get to Naples and pompeii - and easy also to walk the ferries via the cliff lift. Overall this is a top quality hotel - really enjoyed our stay - and would love to go back again.

We had a wonderful stay and would definitely choose this hotel again if we come back to Sorrento. Unbeatable location, just steps away from the lively main piazza, but set off by just enough down a side street to ensure quiet at night. Spotless rooms and common areas; impeccable, friendly, and helpful service at every turn (incl. reception, concierges, cleaning staff, and pool staff), and beautiful views of the Bay of Naples and Mt. Vesuvius (as well as the gardens of the Grand Hotel Excelsior Vittoria across the street). We also appreciated that two free bottles of water are provided daily, and a filtered tap is available 24/7 in the lobby bar to refill as needed. Another thoughtful and convenient touch was that the hotel made golf carts available to guests to drive them short distances here and there within town, such as to the ferry port - a huge boon given the hills in the area and the challenges of trying to navigate narrow cobblestoned steep streets with large luggage. My massage at the spa was also truly fantastic, and the spa's heated pool, sauna, and steam room are available to guests regardless of whether they book a treatment, which is nice. All in all, seems to be an amazing newcomer to the area and played a key role in ensuring we had a lovely time in Sorrento.

My wife and I spent a week here in August, and I can’t speak highly of the place. We visited at the end of our Italian trip, celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary. Upon our arrival, and without prior knowledge, we were upgraded to a junior suite. That alone was enough to win us over. The rest of our stay was superb, with the major impact being the staff who made our stay enjoyable but more importantly memorable. As someone who is celiac and requires gluten free options, breakfast was above my expectations and when I asked for a GF beer during the day, and they didn’t have, they ordered in and was available the next day. Yes an expensive cost, but in days when you pay for what you get, this hotel does that, plus! Recommended.

We were only able to stay two nights, but would have enjoyed staying more. The property is in a wonderful location just off the town Square and the staff are fantastic. They have an excellent breakfast on site and a beautiful pool and surrounding patio with a small spa and a nice gym downstairs. Well worth your consideration if you find yourself traveling to the beautiful town of Sorrento Italy.

All the earlier reviews are absolutely correct This is a very special hotel made more so by its very special staff. Kindness and generosity doesn’t begin to do justice to their qualities. The hotel is in the most perfect location and we cannot wait to return If I had any criticism ( and I feel bad mentioning it) it’s that I would have welcomed a wider choice of fresh fruit and salad at breakfast. Wow doesn’t even begin to describe Ara Maris. From the moment I arrived as a first-time guest, my expectations were exceeded. The service is outstanding—genuine care and attention to every guest is felt from the very start. I checked into my stunning room overlooking the Sorrento coast—truly the most breathtaking view I’ve ever seen. From there, I spent the afternoon by the pool, a serene oasis nestled in lush gardens. The atmosphere was luxurious yet peaceful, and the food and drinks were exceptional. A thoughtful touch: complimentary 10-minute massages for pool guests, which I highly recommend. After refreshing in the spacious bathroom and slipping into their plush robes, I spent some time reading on the terrace before heading to the Sky Bar. This spot is a dream—one of the most unique and beautiful bars I’ve ever visited. The panoramic views of the Sorrento coastline at sunset are unforgettable, and the tapas and cocktails were just as impressive. Marco crafted some of the most creative drinks I’ve tried, and Martina made our poolside and breakfast experiences equally delightful. The gym and spa are top-tier, completing the resort feel. What makes Ara Maris truly special is how it offers everything you could want without ever needing to leave—yet when you do, you’re just steps away from lively, charming Sorrento while still feeling tucked away in tranquility. If you’re looking for the best of the best, Ara Maris is the place to stay. I couldn’t recommend it more.

We arrived late due to flight delays and we were welcomed so nicely , our bags whisked away and offered welcome drink. The room service were quick to provide food and it was now midnight. The room is spotlessly clean, and the design is contemporary. We have travelled extensively and the breakfast is the best I’ve seen - free champagne for a morning Buck’s Fizz. We ate at hotel last night and had tapas on the rooftop bar The hotel is central to what Sorrento has to offer but what makes the hotel is the outstanding customer service - its first rate Go see for yourself!

Amazing property. We have stayed at another five star property in Sorrento. It was sold out. I remember walking by Ara Maris. Happy we booked with this hotel. Location was walkable, quiet, clean our room had a very large balcony. More of a modern hotel. Gym was new and very clean. Very happy with our stay. Would recommend! Have fun!

What a wonderful hidden gem in Sorrento. Me and my wife spent 5 nights at this place and we are looking forward to come back. The facilities were outstanding. Everything was shiny and brand new. The hotel was extremely clean in the rooms and the common areas. The dining areas for the breakfast and the restaurant too. The rooftop Lounge was amazing. The views were incredible. The cocktails were fantastic. But on top of all that, the Human Resources (maids, waiting staff, pool attendants, restaurant managers, concierge service and welcoming staff) were the best part of the stay. They were all super gentle and concerned about giving us the best experience. The maids rounded everyday in the afternoon to make sure we had clean towels upon returning from our excursions. The pool attendant was always adjusting the shade of our umbrella by the pool to make sure we were covered. The breakfast waiters were always there to assist us. Same thing at the pool. Never had to raise a hand. They were involved on giving us the best experience ever. The concierge service even provided us with a lot of assistance to plan our trip a month in advance (excursions, boat rentals) and with restaurant reservations. The front desk people were outstanding too in welcoming us and showing us the amenities of the room. By day 6 when we were leaving, my nickname was Maradona. That’s how great the relationship with the staff was. Super helpful and friendly and loved to chit chat with them. I wish I could remember everyone’s names. But Melina, Victorio/Vittorio, Valentino, Enzo and Aliena (a life saver with her ATM tips). And everyone else. THANK YOU for a wonderful stay. Looking forward to go back!

There are hotels I’m sad to leave and know I’ll return to, and this is one of them. Absolutely top class stay from start to finish, beautifully decorated hotel (which smells amazing!), every staff member was incredibly friendly and helpful, lovely quiet pool area and perfect location just 5 mins walk from the restaurants and bars. Our room was a suite on the front of the hotel so we got the amazing sunset view every evening, it was also soundproofed so we enjoyed very peaceful sleeps in the most comfortable bed. I would also highly recommend a visit to the rooftop bar, it’s certainly special. Special mention to Alena who was front of house staff, a lovely helpful and friendly staff member. Absolutely can’t wait to return, very highly recommended.

Overall, this is a real 5* hotel with good location and a luxury vibe….. But…. God exists in the little things which make the difference and for sure, he was not there. Breakfast is very good, but served only from 07:30 AM. Normally, there are trips and activities in the area that starts earlier, so you must skip breakfast if you book one. They tried to charge us 3 days of parking (35 euros per day), although we used the parking only for 40 hours. If we hadn’t insisted, we had paid another day without justification. When we came back from our outdoor activity, we asked to use the shower. We felt like someone was doing for us a favor. The guest is the most important resource of the hotel and we haven’t felt like this.

From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with a refreshing welcome drink and warm smiles; the perfect start to what became an exceptional stay. Every single member of staff was friendly, approachable, and genuinely eager to make our time here as enjoyable as possible; nothing was ever too much trouble. Breakfast was fantastic, with a wide selection to suit every taste, and the team were more than happy to prepare additional dishes on request, like perfectly fresh poached eggs. The food from the hotel restaurant was exceptional; beautifully prepared, full of flavour, and served with the same attentive care we experienced throughout our stay. The hotel itself, including the pool area, was absolutely immaculate. Sun loungers were always available, and we were greeted with fresh towels before being taken to our preferred spot. Throughout the day, staff regularly checked in to see if we wanted our umbrella adjusted to suit the sun; such a thoughtful touch. Our room and the sky lounge had the most breathtaking views, overlooking the sea and Mount Vesuvius; a sight we never tired of. Every member of the team, from reception and bar staff to maids, pool attendants, and the dedicated advice team, was attentive and professional. Their local knowledge was invaluable, offering fantastic recommendations for trips, excursions, and restaurants, helping us make the most of every day. We also loved the friendly chats and light-hearted football banter about Manchester United and Napoli; it made us feel even more at home. Hotel novíssimo, bem decorado, muito bem localizado. O quarto é bem confortável e com mimos para os hospedes (obrigada!) . Piscina e rooftop muito agradável . Adoramos a hospedagem !
