The Hotel La Prison is a very quirky place to stay. Cells have been converted to rooms. Our room was on the 4th floor with amazing view but not part of cell block. Room was spacious with good bathroom- no fridge in the room and pool was very green and didn’t look too inviting to swim in. Staff were pleasant and helpful Drinks on the balcony lovely A great stay

A really cool overnight stay. Well designed and authentic apart from the restaurant which seems an odd addition. The hotel sits wonderfully in the historic plaza by the cathedral. Very comfy bed. Breakfast though was bang average

We received a wonderfully warm welcome from staff pursuing the highest standards of customer care and engagement. The Hotel la Prison is part boutique hotel, part immersive cultural experience, part modern art gallery. And the sum of the parts is a unique hotel experience. Really enjoyed the quality of the breakfast, even if range limited (curated!), in the attached bistro and the ambition in the evening meal we had in the same location.

After a snafu with my VRBO, this was the last room in town. BEST BAD LUCK EVER!!!! The hotel was great!! The staff was awesome. The breakfast was slightly overpriced for the limited amount of options, but the view itself was INCREDIBLE!!! I was a little concerned about the lack of A/C in the rooms on a VERY HOT WEEKEND, but with the fan and the thick prison walls... it was no sweat. Literally!!!

Arrivée pas pratique car pas de parking propre à cet hôtel. Les clients de l'hôtel ne semblent pas prioritaires pour la réservation d'une table pour dîner dans leur partie restaurant de l'hôtel, sachant que la situation semble compliqué pour réserver une table dans cette ville, donc un peu déçu de ne pas se sentir prioriser. Le lieu est incroyable avec une superbe vue, et le couloir de nage est vraiment un plus pour le charme des lieux. La chambre manque de rigueur pour la propreté (la poussière est présente sur plusieurs rebords dont sur le ventilateur plafonnier, la salissure des assises est visible) mobilier peu confortable et peu esthétique ( dans notre chambre il y avait des bouteilles de vins vides qui n'ont pas été débarrassées dans un tiroir d'un mobilier ! L'intimité de la douche reste à désirer alors que cette chambre de 6 personnes! C'est vraiment perturbant !! La machine à café ne fonctionnait pas donc elle n'a pas été testé avant notre venue ! Le service d'entretien est vite intervenu pour changer le papier qui présentait des tâches de sang ainsi que sur le sol.

Si vous recherchez une expérience originale, je vous conseille cette hôtel qui est une ancienne prison. Les chambres etant d’anciennes cellules. Dommage qu’il n’y ait pas de clim

Lieu atypique et parfaitement réinvesti. C'est conforme aux photos, magnifique et d'un très beau standing pour un prix raisonnable. Le petit déjeuner manque cependant d'options et pourrait être mieux organisé dans sa présentation. Du jus d'orange serait un plus ainsi que une ou 2 solutions pour les personnes allergiques au lactose. Plus de pains différents par exemple, des compotes ou simplement un lait végétal, rien de très compliqué pour l'hôtel et un grand soulagement pour les clients dans cette situation. Très bon séjour en dehors de ça. La vue depuis le restaurant est à couper le souffle. Je recommande vivement !

Lovely location with views out over the river Orb. Right next to Cathedral. Close to several very pleasant restaurants. Very walkable to Hotel de Ville, tourist office, market hall, Carrefour, laundromat, Plateau des Poetes and Jardin de la Plantade parks, SNCF train station, transit hub at Place DeGaulle, and lots of shopping of all kinds.

Très bel hôtel, assez surprenant. Mention spéciale à la literie de qualité et les oeufs brouillés du petit déjeuner. Toutefois, il n'est pas simple de se garer à proximité. Belle promenade pour accéder à l'hôtel.

Le seul point négatif est qu il n y a pas de place de parking à côté et qu il n y a pas de panneaux pour arriver à ´ hôtel

Personnel sympathique et serviable, hôtel sublime tant par son histoire, sa rénovation et ses collections d’art disséminés dans les parties communes et les chambres. Génial.

Nice location, clean and quiet.

Chambre très sympathique et atypique. Cependant les fenêtres sont mal isolées, ce qui fait que l'on entend le vent siffler. Les oreillers proches de la fenêtres, vous avez un courant d’air frais sur votre tête en dormant ! Sinon propreté impeccable Manque quelques éléments : boîtes de mouchoirs, peut-être des boules caisses… Mais l’isolation entre les chambres est top ! Manque de parking et très peu de place pour se garer. Obligé d’aller dans les parking payant de la ville

L hôtel devrait aviser clairement que les déplacements pour les stationnement sont très difficiles d accès pour les personnes qui ont des limitations.

Déjà le cadre à côté d'une cathédrale magnifique ,vue imprenable sur l'Orb et le vieux pont Ballade à pied le long de l'Orb ,les 7 écluses par exemple Le logement, belle surprise, chambre spacieuse tout confort , bon matelas et surtout le calme et la vue Nous avons pris le petit déjeuner , très bon accueil par Laura dans une atmosphère cosy et toujours avec une vue magnifique Tout est frais et délicieux Nous reviendrons

Great stay and lovely building

Architecturally brilliant conversion of an ancient prison into a modern hotel. Lots to like about the style, a combination of ancient, brutalist and ultra-chic minimalism. But the room we were in was somewhat disappointing (though my wife thought it OK). We were not in one of the converted cells, so they might be different. Our corner room seemed to be an old office or admin space. There was no place handy to plug in a phone charger. The plug was UNDER a table, and to access it, one had to crawl on the hard concrete floor under the table which was fixed to the wall. Not so easy when you're not as lithe as you used to be. Cold floors, with some rug cover. But the overall feeling was a little bleak. Also, the restaurant (and the bar) were closed on Sunday and Monday. I can understand the restaurant not being open 7days, but the bar?? A street map/A4printed sheet of the town, perhaps with visiting suggestions, would have been a nice touch too.

In the cell block, it sounded like a prison, with the noise reverberating through the entirieof space, and the open vents part of the original prison let the noise of the city in. Resaurant shut Monday and Tuesday, not great, and so few good restraunts available close by, they get booked out.

El hotel como curiosidad está muy bien, cuando entras no te esperas que sea una prisión tan fidedigna, que lo es tanto que incluso en las habitaciones te sientes como un preso más, el mobiliario es tan escaso que no hay ni tv. El espacio tan escaso de la habitación contrasta con la amplitud del baño. Las camas son muy cómodas. Nosotros teníamos una estancia de dos noches, pero no nos hicieron la habitación.

What an amazing place! Not just a unique place to stay, but in a great location. Very friendly staff... Rooms are not huge, what do you expect with a cell, but the bathrooms are spacious. Our room was 'decorated', but not all are. Amazing art all around the hotel. We did not use the bistro as it was closed but enjoyed the breakfast buffet, lovely jam!

Had a very enjoyable 3 night stay at Hotel La Prison. We stayed in a standard cell which had amazing views over the valley and river, modern en suite and very comfortable bed. The hotel has been beautifully modernised, keeping many historic aspects with modern art, quirky sculptures and gorgeous views from the pool and hotel exterior. The hotel sits next to a stunning cathedral, and walking distance to narrow cobbled streets, restaurants and pretty squares. The hotel restaurant was closed for dinner during our stay but we had breakfast which was well stocked with continental meats, cheese, mini pastries, scrambled eggs, French bacon and local bread and fruit. Well worth €15pp. I would not hesitate in recommending this fabulous hotel in Beziers.

Mi è piaciuto il silenzio. Non mi è piaciuto che la finestra fosse in alto e inaccessibile e guardasse su un muro.

Super endroit si on cherche un endroit atypique, on est vraiment en immersion. Je ne reprendrais pas la petite chambre, elle est vraiment étroite et pas très confortable. Pour le reste c’était niquel.

Très agréables à tous points de vue. Suggestions : - mettre un revêtement antiglisse dans le vac à douche - au bistrot prevoir des plateaux pour le petit dejeuner Bonne continuation

This is just an unimaginably extraordinary hotel in a beautiful city. Felix and Arthur at the restaurant were just superb. The intimidating history of the property is immediately forgotten as soon as you walk in and walk the hotel. Food is delicious and the rooms, while cell-like (no pun intended) are comfortable. Don't let the history of the building scare you. This is a Jewel in Beziers.

Séjour très décevant, suite à notre réservation, à notre arrivée, le personnel a omis de nous indiquer que la "cellule" était à côté de l'escalier métallique, avec une fenêtre qui donnée sur un mur à 50 cm au rez-de-chaussée, à côté de l'ascenseur. Ils ont reconnu eux-mêmes à notre départ qu'il n'y en avait que 3 comme ça. Il est dommage que l'on ne nous ait pas prévenus à notre arrivée et laissé le choix de payer un supplément.

It was an amazing experience staying at the prison hotel. The rooms were of course small which is expected for a prison and part of the entire experience. The attached bathroom was quite roomy and everything was clean and bright. Even though there was no air conditioning in the room it was very comfortable by opening a large window that let a nice breeze in - even in the middle of July. If you stay here I would highly recommend their restaurant for dinner - reservations are strongly recommended. On top of all the features and ambience of the hotel you can walk around town to see the sights. Overall an A experience.

This is an amazing buidling, beautifully converted and in the centre of the historic city. Full of lovely pieces of art. A real experience. One important thing that would improve it though would be to have a fridege in the room and also tea/coffee making facilities. There are no televisions in the room either but that didn't bother me so much. Very good value also.

Amazing repurposing on an old prison. Great modern art. Room was comfortable and the view from the restaurant is second to none. Parking is not on site but not far away. Great place.

Staying in an old prison was a very fun experience. The art work and furniture is all very cool. It was a little hot with just the ceiling fan. Pool was wonderful! Amazing views!! We lucked out with parking and got a space up top and just left our car there for three days. About 20.00 a day. The restaurant was good and there was another really good one by the fountain near by. Staff at the hotel were all very nice and helpful. Would recommend

What a wonderful place , old prison made into very good standard hotel . Very cleverly done , staff nice , swimming pool is ideal for cooling down in the heat - it was hot when I was there ! Loved it

The hotel is very chic and stylish. It's central location is excellent, with the cathedral, shops and restaurants all in easy walking distance. Our group stayed in the basic twin bedrooms which whilst small, were very comfortable, clean, with fabulous views across the countryside. The lack of any tea or coffee making facilities in the room is an issue. The hotel staff, particularly the reception staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful, sorting out dinner reservations for the three evenings of our stay. However, the hotel only notified us a couple of days before our arrival that it was necessary to book a table in the hotel restaurant at least two weeks in advance for evening meals. Also, that the restaurant would be closed for two of the three evenings of our stay, hence us having to eat out every evening. On arrival we were then informed that the bar would also be closed for three evenings. As there were no tea or coffee making facilities in any of the bedrooms, it was not possible to get any drinks in the hotel when we returned each day from sightseeing around the area. I would recommend this hotel and would return but maybe avoid Sundays and Mondays when the restaurant and bar are closed particularly as many of the nearby shops and restaurants in Bezier also closed on those days

This place is truly a great "experience"! So fascinating to see the prison from the inside with all of the historic preservation blended with comfort and style. I would definitely recommend staying here, and would think about returning!

Beautiful hotel in the most amazing location

Unique place to stay. Not that much room in the bedroom - but it did use to be a prison cell, so no surprise! En-suite bathroom was good. Great location and good restaurant. Bar staff could be a bit friendlier, but reception and everyone else was great.

Quick trip with comfortable room.

Lovely different hotel. Deliberately chosen because it was a former prison. Directions/road signs hit a miss, but sat nav got us there via very narrow streets. There’s some hotel parking, but also other local secure car parks at realistic prices. The town is full of bars and restaurants. Is worth taking the little train out to the locks of the camel de midi, but it’s also only a half walk. Only downside of the hotel is that the rooms don’t have air conditioning.

Wow! What an amazing place to stay! The prison is in an incredible location in the heart of old Béziers and with stunning views over the river and countryside. It has been beautifully restored to a high standard, with original features and modern artistic touches. We loved the concept of being able to sleep in a cell, whilst having features of a boutique hotel like swimming pool and gourmet breakfast. Simon Calder (famous British travel journalist) was staying there the same night as us, so it must be trending! Spend at least one night there while prices are still low and before it gets too well known!

Rooms are full of character and decorated to a very good standard. Not all rooms have a view, but the proximity to the Cathedral and walking distance to the old town and restaurants makes up for it.
