Holiday Inn Express & Suites Courtenay - Comox by IHG

We booked this hotel to explore the east of Vancouver island. It is quite well located to go on day trips to Campbell River or to different beaches. The breakfast had a surprisingly big variety and our kids loved the pool. Good value for money!

It is easy to access via car, but not a very beautiful location to explore the area and walk around.

Good location and comfortable, clean air-conditioned room.

The only down fall was the keriug machines didn't work for morning coffee in the room. First one was broken, and the replacement wouldn't pump the water through.

We stayed here for 3 nights. Brand new hotel with clean and modern facilities. Friendly staff and great breakfast options!

The hotel was nice

I did not like the way the charges were split into 2 bills. I signed a form when we checked in and got 2 emails with separate charges. It was confusing. We have stayed at this hotel for the past three years. It is convenient and we like it. It is confusing when the charges are split into two charges! The bathroom had someone else’s hair on the shower and floor. It could have been cleaned better. I had to call the front desk for more amenities. This is a nice hotel but lacked a few things.

Room was not well cleaned. Bathroom needed a good scrub down. Area around toilet tissue was grubby, dirt in corners.. If I'm paying $268 for a room I expect it to be in top form. I usually find this hotel exceptional but not this time.

There was an indoor pool and the room was a good size. Nice breakfast choices.

The pool temperature was too cool and there was no hot tub. The pool room was also on the cooler end and the pool towels are small and not great quality.

I like the breakfast and room..very clean hotel and the staff so friendly and nice to talk ..just the swimming pool a bit cold and they don’t have changing room after shower just the washroom…

Considering this is literally a brand new hotel, it feels 30 years old with the way it’s been maintained

To beat up, and it’s in one of the worst spots in town for crime and homeless population

The accommodating & friendly staff. The breakfast. The facilities. The washroom and its toiletries.

The view would have been perfect without the roof in the background. The 1st room assigned to us had a strangle, filthy smell. (But good thing Front Desk moved us to another room.) The sofabed was not as clean as expected and one of the beds and one of the pillows had some hair on them.

The staff were exceptional. Professional, friendly, we felt genuinely cared for. The rooms are fresh and bright, nicely appointed. The breakfast was delicious.

The location is close to town, but there is not too much in the immediate vicinity.

The hotel was super clean and the staff was wonderful. Will definetley stay there again. Right a Ross the street is a casino and it serves delicious food.

They don’t provide slippers although I can understand that for most 3 stars hotel and also sometimes I think that’s even better to reduce waste.

The staff was exceptional. After a 30hr flight delay, and a very long story, the front desk upgraded my room to a suite at no charge! (I didn't even ask!!!) Then, on the return home, I had two more delays and cancellations. The front desk put me right back in my suite at the same cost! I'll be back for sure!

Nothing! Even housekeeping was willing to do every tiny little thing to make me comfortable. They didn't mind my 4-year-old granddaughter rollerblading in the hallway lol

Great buffet-style breakfast! Eggs, sausage or bacon, baked beans, potatoes, pancakes, plus the typical continental breakfast items. Loved the self-serve coffee/tea station that was stocked all day. Nice pool, not cold, also not too warm. Front desk staff were friendly, professional and attentive. Room had lots of lighting settings, outlets, USB ports, and the A/C worked well. The windows can be opened a few inches for fresh air if desired. Nice showerhead in the bathroom with three settings. Dove products supplied in shower and at sink. In-room safe (not bolted down though). Overall a modern and well-provisioned room. Lots of parking, and you could use your key card to enter the hotel from the back. Key card required in the elevator and for the fitness room and pool. Also, they have two washers and two dryers ($2.50 each at time of writing).

The beds were comfortable but too soft for my personal liking. If you have back issues and need something supportive, these might not be the best for you. They were plush and cozy though. The fitness room was ok but needs to be cleaned better. Lots of dust and hair in the corners and borders. Only one small surface between the two beds in the room, no nightstand drawers. Kinda crowded for everyone's books, phones, personal items...

We choose the hotel because it had a pool . The day of checkin, receptionist told us the pool wasn’t working - 2:30 on the 30th. The following day, the next receptionist lied and said they found out late the night of the 30th that the heater for the pool wasn’t working. Breakfast - no bowls, cups or cream

I’m not happy with this stay. I booked two rooms with two queen beds each, but we were given two rooms with a king bed and a couch instead. On top of that, the sheet for the couch looked used, which was very disappointing. Overall, this was not the experience I expected from this hotel.

- Breakfast was awesome! - Staff were superb; always very polite and helpful - Location was very convenient; bus from the airport took about ten minutes and dropped us just across the street; easy walk to Superstore for groceries, Ricky's for a couple of dinners, National car rental office, etc. - Room decor was very tasteful - modern, but warm and inviting; loved the window blind. - Pool was great.

A couple of small things: in our bathroom the baseboard directly below the towel rail was filthy, with several old water drip marks down the wall below the towels. It is not as noticeable when standing in the middle of the bathroom, but when using the toilet it's not so pleasant seeing it so close-up... Likewise, there had been a coffee spill in one of the elevators at the weekend, which was still there three days later when we left! And one small request - please could you mount a wall-clock in the pool area? These are all small details - please don't take them as serious 'complaints'. We are planning to come back and stay on our next visit - we really enjoyed our visit - thank you!

It was much nicer and newer inside than it looked from the outside. Everything felt well looked after and like they were trying to offer the best budget service they could.

Sorry to say but there were several noises linked to the ventilation & heating systems that we couldn’t turn off which caused an irritation through the night.

The bed was my favourite part. Very comfortable with the choice of soft or firm pillows. The sheets were ultra soft.

It was close to where we chartered fishing 🎣 trip

Its breakfest started too late for us. Breakfast should probably start around 6:00 am because of when we had to be at the charter for fishing, but also army personnel were also waiting for breakfast with us. This way we wouldn’t have to rush eating and relax 😌
