Provider-sourced guest reviews.
The warmth of welcome was huge. The can-do attitude of the team was superb. Extremely comfortable and superb location.
Possibly another chair or indeed sofa in the room would have been great but just a thought.
It is beautifully furnished, the bed was very comfy and the views of the seafront were amazing.
Room was fantastic- sea view, record player, comfortable. The pantry was a nice touch. Staff great.
Nothing.
The room was very clean and comfortable. The rooftop bar had great views and the staff throughout the hotel were extremely friendly.
The location is the star of the show - overlooking the beach and in close proximity to other attractions in Margate.

I really enjoyed my stay. The staff were very kind and welcoming, and I especially appreciated the warm hospitality. Thank to the whole team !
Camera e bagno belli e spaziosi. La vista Mare strepitosa. Personale molto gentile. Una terrazza panoramica dove prendere l’aperitivo. Un ristorante vista mare dove abbiamo mangiato benissimo . Ottima colazione
Everything! Standard of bedrooms/bathrooms, location but above all else the service was exceptional

Stunning interiors and beautiful facilities. Wildsmith toiletries in the rooms, vinyl player, pretty little pantry with complimentary drinks and snacks. And a stunning rooftop bar which gave us a gorgeous sunset view.
Beautiful room. Staff helpful. Such a wonderful stay
Nothing. It was really perfect
Everything was great and they offer free snacks which was very nice of them .. first hotel in my frequent travels to really treat me like family

Location great. Great comfy rooms.
Price.
Great location. Amazing view from the room. The pantry was a lovely surprise! Would stay there again. Great amount of space in the room.
Hunder er tillatt over alt. Takterrassen trenger en skikkelig rengjøring.
Veldig hyggelig personale, nydelig rom, super plassering.
Savnet aircondition siden det ble veldig varmt.
The sweet and snacks station was a lovely extra touch
Location was great, rooftop bar excellent. Rooms were cosy and well appointed, the pantry is a great touch.
In terms of the cost per room per night, the hotel lacks finish and quality, 5 star cost, 3-4 star value
Outre son excellent emplacement, cet hôtel propose de belles prestations et un personnel agréable et efficace. Nous avons apprécié le balcon avec vue sur mer et le rooftop.
Location, the shower/bathroom facilities & the bed! Very comfortable!
Dear GuestHouse No.42 Team, I wanted to share some feedback following our recent stay. My partner and I travel frequently and stay in luxury and boutique hotels across the UK and Europe, so we naturally compare experiences against a fairly broad benchmark. Whilst there were aspects of our stay that we genuinely enjoyed, there were also several areas that left us disappointed. The first was breakfast. As breakfast is advertised until 10:00am, I would expect the same choice and quality to be available throughout the service. Unfortunately, when we arrived later in the breakfast window there were no croissants left and very few continental options remaining. It felt as though breakfast had not been replenished, which is disappointing when guests are actively encouraged to enjoy a later breakfast. If breakfast is offered until 10:00am, there should be sufficient provisions for those choosing to dine closer to that time. Parking was another frustration. There was no clear information provided during the booking process, meaning I had to research parking myself and send a separate email in the hope of securing a space. I also feel that charging £25 per day for parking is rather excessive, particularly when it is not made clear from the outset. Similarly, the £30 charge to extend check-out by just one hour (from 11:00am until 12:00pm) felt disproportionate. In many luxury hotels we have visited, a modest late check-out is offered as a goodwill gesture where occupancy allows, or at the very least at a much more reasonable cost. It gave the impression that additional charges were being applied wherever possible. I was also disappointed with the arrival experience. The only room type available when booking was a standard double room, yet despite arriving at around 1:30pm, we were advised that our room would not be ready until after 3:00pm.
Location, vibe, room all lovely. Pantry is such a nice added extra perk. Rooftop bar is lovely too.
Price varies depending on the night you stay quite dramatically. I felt like the price for Saturday was expensive and would of wanted to have a sea facing room for the price we paid.
Property is beautiful and really well situated. Both me and my toddler loved the bathroom with a big bathtub and I really appreciated how quiet the room was and the AC. I am a light sleeper and we had an excellent night. It was also so lovely to receive beach toys for the little one on our way out. Breakfast including vegan croissants were delicious and staff was flexible to accommodate allergies.
There was no bedding for my toddler in the cot. Have asked a member of staff but haven’t received it. My toddler ended sleeping under a towel. He still had a good night. I think the property and parents would profit from a changing station in the bathrooms.
despite numerous attempts to change booking, the hotel refused and hide behind booking.com. booking.com tried to help, when it was clear we couldn’t use 2nd night, we were fobbed off by hotel with no one is in from reservations today (it was a thursday!). Very disappointing and ultimately paid for a night not used, we hotel blaming booking.com. Which was simply un true
Lovely hotel, with everything you need. We had the room with the balcony over the sea and it was beautiful. Bed was super comfy, the bathroom gorgeous - excellent shower. Drinks on the roof top was a highlight and the restaurant food very good quality.
A bit of noise from the room above. We only had breakfast in the hotel once, as it was fine but not that exciting, and there are lots of other places to eat in Margate. None of this would put us off, it was a wonderful stay and we will be trying out the other guesthouses at some point.
Beautiful decor, super comfy bed, gorgeous bathroom and amazing roof terrace bar.
De kamer was prachtig... Geweldige badkamer, bedden waren zalig en airco was een feest met buiten 30 graden plus!
We hadden graag gegeten maar het restaurant was dicht
Facilities. Ambiance. staff.
No milk for tea/ coffee in bedroom.
It was a very welcoming experience from the moment you walk in. The hotel was clean and had beautiful interior that made you feel relaxed. The restaurant and rooftop bar were lovely and offered delicious food and good selection of drinks. The bed was very comfortable and room was very spacious. Private parking on the property was also a huge bonus.
I couldn’t fault it.
The interiors in the room were amazing, so light and warming
The room got a bit warm at times but with air conditioning that wasn’t an issue!
The friendinessand room decor
Location is excellent. Breakfast was good but limited. The room was spacious and comfortable..
We found the bedding overwhelmingly hot and ended up removing the duvet filler. Most hotels are the same. Sheets and blankets are more versatile but obviously not wanted by proprietors.
Fantastic location with wonderful views of the sea . Very spacious and extremely comfortable bed . The breakfast was great and the staff were friendly and attentive
This was a fantastic stay for us. A great hotel with amazing staff. Lots of very special and unique touches; Stay here and you will find outt!

Style
No kitchen in evening and balcony was not open for sitting on while we were there as was being repaired
We spent three nights at No42 and enjoyed our stay. The guesthouse is perfectly located for exploring Margate, and the parking in a nearby side street is a real bonus. We were welcomed warmly from the moment we arrived. Our room, complete with a private terrace and sea views, was everything we hoped for: spacious, clean, and very comfortable. The location also makes it easy to combine your stay with a day trip to London, as the train station is just a short walk away. We visited in late April/early May, when Margate is still relatively quiet: a great time to explore at a relaxed pace. That said, one sunny Saturday gave us a glimpse of what's to come: the beach and the old town were buzzing with people, and it was already quite lively. We can only imagine how busy it gets in peak summer, so if you prefer a quieter experience, an off-season visit might be the way to go. We didn't get around to trying the spa this time but that's a great excuse to come back! Highly recommended.
Great location in Margate… stylish, comfortable small hotel that definitely delivers on luxury. Well curated bedrooms, again stylishly appointed with everything you need and more. Bathroom was super clean and had an amazing shower. All the staff we came in to contact with were professional and friendly.
The only thing that might have been nice to experience would have been to have a sunset drink in the rooftop bar but unfortunately it wasn’t open for guests when we stayed. This seemed a little strange as the weather was glorious. I did venture up there one afternoon but the only guests up there were the pigeons !!
Amazing sweets ( my granddaughter says;) outside our bedroom which was beautifully decorated. The bed was super comfy and there is a lovely bright room to have breakfast and look out at the sea
The room was perfect over looking the town and sea. very comftable bed and bedding and was everything i expected. Service in the restraunt and bar was excelent and all the staff could not be more helpfull. We will be returning soon.
There was nothing at all to complain about
The perfect location, really lovely decor, very comfortable room, friendly and helpful staff.
Well located, with comfortable fabrics in the rooms.
I had never been asked to book a breakfast slot, it added unnecessary formality to the holiday. Further, asking for a small extension of 30 min on the checkout and not getting a kind reminder that there's a small grace period anyway added further unnecessary formality. Seemed a relaxed and luxurious place, it's just OK.
The bed was the comfiest bed ever! The room was heavenly and the food was exceptional. We loved the sweet station!
Spacious, clean, great location, nice staff
Lovely well considered layout. Comfy beds and bathroom mirrors positioned perfectly. Love the free pantry with great cake and crisp selection. Sweets too!
Dining room closed but guess it’s low season
Comfortable room, great to have access to the pantry for snacks and central location. A shame the in house restaurant wasn't open for dinner that evening
Good vibes, relaxed and calming
Pillows a bit lifeless!
Breakfast excellent catered for the dog, location excellent, friendly helpful staff, pantry great idea
The restaurant wasn’t open in the evening luckily next door was open
Location was great. The hotel was really special, cool design and the bar/pantry was excellent. Staff make you feel really welcome and are accommodating to special requests.
Nothing, we would stay again and recommend to family/friends
Everything! The reception and bar area, the room ❤️
-
Thoughtfully decorated.. very comfy bed, quiet and v clean.
Sadly the restaurant wasn’t open the night I stayed.
Lovely done rooms and central pantry is a great idea. View from restaurant over the beach is gorgeous
We changed rooms, without hassle, as AC on 3 rd floor is noisy
Amazing features.
Bed was uncomfortable
Amazing attention to detail
The parking was 25% of the room rate and that’s rip off for it to be behind a gate in an open area. They need to rethink this strategy
Lovely friendly hotel with fantastic rooms and facilities - could not fault. Breakfast was particularly good and the addition of a well stocked pantry outside our room was fabulous!
Nothing really
Beautiful room with everything you need and more.
This property is wonderful a great surprise to find such comfort and attention to detail
Nothing not to like
The perfect place to escape London town. We stayed for one night to see what Margate has to offer. Everything about the hotel adds to the experience from the staff, room decor to the view of the sea whilst you eat breakfast. The hotel had a number of unique offerings that we loved such as the pantry and the record player with the ability to swap the records in your room out for others. We can't wait to come back and try out the rooftop bar once the warmer weather arrives.
Nothing, we loved it all
Style, comfort, atmosphere.
The mattress was far too soft and sunken
Great atmosphere, friendly staff, little details like record player and pantry
Loved the location - easy to get anywhere; loved the magnificent views from our 2nd floor room, and from the Pearly Cow at breakfast; loved the turntable and LPs, and the generous pantry and refreshments in the room. Felt cossetted and well looked after.
Didn't love the virtually invisible heating controls (the low-level lighting didn't help) - could have done with an illustrated how-to in the welcome pack; didn't love all of breakfast, though the coffee and poached egg were excellent; and just wondered why no tissues or shower cap in the otherwise excellent bathroom.
Lovely, cosy rooms. Sweet treats/the pantry was a lovely addition.
I booked the restaurant in advance but was informed on the day that it was closed.
Amazing hotel with brilliant staff. Would definitely recommend and stay again
The spa treatments were rather expensive
All the design details in the rooms and the practical details - very well thought out. The record player is a bonus.
A fabulous location. Beautiful hotel. Lovely staff. Been before. Will come again.
Nothing.
Gorgeous hotel 🙏
