The room definitely need upgrading. Damp on the walls. Ridges in the carpet. Springs sticking up in the mattress.

Shower facilities was not good, it's was blocked when you have had a shower water doesn't go down .stay up to your Ankle,we booked 2 night for a friend end up only stay 1 night, wasted my money. It's below 3 star hotels I can say.

No disabled access, the doors to the ramp were locked and guests were not given a key. The ramp was also extremely steep. Very cramped room, furniture badly laid out and television at ceiling height.

Run down, dirty, smelly, poor fire safety, poor facilities, loose carpet and stairs, doors that don’t close properly. Clientele who aren’t paying guests about. Windows with condensation inside the double glazing, windows have not been cleaned.

The bedlinen and towels were good quality and clean. The shower room was clean and the water piping hot. It was a chill night and the heating warmed the room up well. We’d traveled a distance so it was good that we had keys to the main door as well enabling us to go out to grab some food. Text messages before our stay were good and the couple of questions I had were answered promptly. We weren’t able to have breakfast as we had to leave but the owner made sure we took some pastries with us which was lovely!

The decor in our room was a bit tired but we’d booked one night at short notice on a tight budget. My mattress had a bit of a dip in it but I still slept which was what mattered. The shower room was quite snug and, again, a bit tired but it didn’t affect the function of the room. None of these things would put me off staying there again.

It was handy to the lakes, the breakfast was ok and anything the guy looking after the table for toast and drinks was excellent 👌

The room was cold no heat on at nighttime , and condition of the mattress disgusting blood stains on it and dirty was not great , 😑 the shower was ok it work ok but what let it down was the tiles broken and grout black, sliding door on ( en suite ) did not shut the extractor fan never work window can not open so room was very stuffy we stay 3 days had to ask for milk two times but we get it quickly, a lot of cobwebs in the room we not be going back

The dinning room was the best experience, everything was clean and well organized, and food was plentiful and good quality.

The room was awful although the sheets and bed were very comfortable, everything was scratched or worn out, it was damp and dreary, there was no heat at all, I went and asked if the heat was coming on ,in never did and was told it was on a timer, and would come in shortly, the bathroom you had to go down 2 stairs and was narrow, the shower had a overhang in it were you could not stand up straight in it, the water wouldn’t drain away, so once I had soaped myself had to wait 5 minutes for the water to go away otherwise it would of overflowed and split on to the floor, the soap dish wea broken, the shower was nice and hot, the towels were clean and big , had to get in bed to stay warm

The staff were incredibly accommodating and so friendly. They had great communication, helping us with a late check in, and even made sure to have a vegetarian option for our included breakfast which we were not expecting. Very lovely hosts!

Absolutely brilliant location, the views were incredible and the seaside view a must !! Staff were all incredibly friendly, welcoming, and helpful!! Everything was clean and comfortable, some TLC needed in places on the wall - plaster was cracked ! Will absolutely come again for the location and staff made the place but could do with a bit of refresh!

Arrived and there was a drunk on the hotel steps,reception was not manned and the number given to ring for assistance was not answered by anyone.Rooms in and around reception looked nothing like the photos we viewed before booking. Building was tired dirty inside and smelly. We did not stay here.

Blocked drain in the shower box, shower cant last more than 5 mins, otherwise will flood their place.

This hotel should not be allowed to continue to mislead people with the images on booking.com. Booking.com should investigate them immediately. I booked this hotel on “pay at the property’ yet they took the money before I arrived. When we arrived we were shocked! It was disgusting, the facilities were terrible, we could not sleep there and immediately left and booked another nearby hotel so ended up paying for two hotels for one night’s stay. What a rip off! We are so disappointed and feel cheated by this hotel and Booking.com we would like a refund for this hotel.

Extremely dated property which needs a complete refit. Very over priced, I have stayed in many properties of same prices all of which have been far superior

The room was a good size, however the carpet had a few stains and looked aged and not fitted correctly.

The bathroom was very small, it was hard to get in and close the door. The shower also was smaller than I have used before.

We are both bad walking and the hotel put us in a ground floor room grateful, the room we were put in was tiny ,we couldn't lock the door lock bust.the bathroom was again tiny I'm 6ft tall and 17 stone so you can imagine, and not value for money the price that's charged during the week would have been better not the weekend price.

You do get to hear traffic, but that is to be expected, since it's on a main road. Not really a problem.

We had a warm welcome and help with luggage, as there is no lift. The room had a beautiful sea view, but was badly in need of decoration, and refurbishment, as was mist of the hotel. The bathroom was very small, abd we couldn't get the shower to work. There wasn't really anyone on hand to rectify this. The breakfast was quite good, abd the waiter was attentive and helpful. They stored our luggage, but when we returned, there was bi one about, and the phine wasn't answered straight away.

There was no toilet facilities downstairs, to use before we left the property. Our luggage was left in an unlocked office, and we needed to go in and get it, in order to catch our train. The only member of staff present did then appear, so we could tell her that we had picked up our luggage. While the hotel is in a good location on the sea front, it is badly in need of refurbishment throughout. It would have been reassuring to have a member of staff available more than there was.

Stayed here 2 weeks ago for the weekend left after 1st night shower from the room above pouring water through the ceiling into our room menstrual to staff wasn’t that bothered we changed to there sister hotel down the road kids partying till gone 3 in the morning no staff around to complain to we left the hotel at 3.15 am didn’t and couldn’t sleep due to the noise travelled back home and my husband was bitten while in bed flea bites x4 as they allow pets in the rooms won’t be staying in any of these hotels again the Strathmore or the Clifton

Breakfast s not proper full English breakfast what we expect. Room looks dirty , furniture not stable , bathroom shower blocked , no room service , no change tower and beds. Night time a lot noise and smoking.

Breakfast was the only redeemable aspect. The gentleman serving, although a little gruff at first, soon cheered up and was very attentive and kind.

This list is endless. We checked in, the walls were made of what appeared to be paper mache? This did not help with sound proofing as you can hear the neighbouring rooms conversations. Our rooms were in dire conditions. We were told that we had sea view rooms. Well, only one of us did, the other had had a view of an overflowing bin (please see image for reference), the light had electrical cables loose, the towel rail was not connected anywhere, the sanitary bin was full from previous guests, the towel has a strange red substance on it, the bed had some hairs over the bedding (questionable if this had been changed), the side tables did not have doors or handles and were badly marked, the window was missing a handle, the carpets are dangerously raised so my boyfriend tripped several times over this mini speed bump on the landing (very dangerous), there were cracks, cobwebs and dust everywhere. I could go on.

Old ,tired, dreary decor. Carpets worn, dirty and creased in places. Minimal furniture and storage. Tea/coffee area was dirty. Bathroom was in need of some strong cleaning products. View out of window was bags of rubbish . We have stayed in much nicer for the same price and less. Absolutely not worth what was charged.

No lift....3 flights of stairs to room very exhausting. More seating outside would have been nice. Fans and a fridge in room would have been nice.

Clifton sea front hotel is situated in the great location and receptionist is very llkind. Since we couldn't upgrade to the sea view room , she offered their sister hotel , stratmore hotel which is just 5 minutes away. So my comment based on stratmore hotel. I think it is better than Clifton. The back room in the Clifton was like an isolated room. But if you prefer toove in the day time it is ok as the front beach of Clifton is nicer than stratmore front beach. But for relaxing, stratmore is better as it has bar as well than Clifton. The below comments and ratings as based on Stratmore hotel. There is a buffet breakfast.i think ok for 3 Star level. Fruits were missing in the buffet. But overall it is good. We booked a sea view room and it was good and clean. TV was working. Free Street parking is available which is good.

The only thing is that the bar doesn't open for any other meal. Only breakfast served. Better if the bartender can make a toast , sandwich, it might help to do business in the bar too. We cannot swim or play on the beach in front of this hotel as there are pebbles. But you can go to a better beach by walking for 10- 15 minutes, bus/ car within 2 -5 mins.. parking is bit harder in that busy beach. So , this location is not bad with a sea view, for adults..

We liked that the TV had channels we could watch. Good WiFi. Bed was comfortable. Breakfast was great! Free on street parking.

We found the bathroom was very small, could hardly move in there. There was only one lamp next to the bed. There was a noise coming from somewhere that went on and off during the night.

Nothing it was more like a hostel than a hotel the room was in a shocking condition and with 3 people sharing the toilet didn’t flush and the seat was broken Holes in the floor and walls carpets a disgrace probably the worst place Ive ever stayed how this place is allowed to operate is beyond me I am actually thinking of contacting booking.com for a refund

Hotel building itself needs a good bit of work and upgrading done but the staff were helpful and friendly and the breakfast was good. They were extremely accommodating with myself and my wee dog.

Yes the place is tired and could do with a refurb, there are a lot of stairs both upto property and up to rooms. Breakfast is buffet style so food wasnt very hot when you came down to breakfast

The staff are polite and helpful, ready to assist with any matter. Breakfast is modest but has all the essentials. The bedding and towels are clean. There is hot and cold water. Excellent location near the sea, the promenade, and the city center.

The hotel gives the impression of being outdated and worn; it is in need of renovation. A busy road runs right beneath the windows of the sea-view rooms, making it quite noisy in the evenings. Guests often sit on the patio below the windows late into the night, talking loudly and disturbing the peace. Water drains very poorly in the shower. The interior is very simple.

Nice sea view. Room was comfortable. Guess for the price it was OK. Location decent.

Shower didn't work. Bathroom pokey. Breakfast mostly inedible. Even the coffee was bad. I was looking for a location to watch the eclipse, and Michael, on reception, sent me to The Royal in Heysham. Unfortunately, it was completely covered by trees and useless for viewing eclipse. On top of that it was a long way away from hotel.

Very run down property, poor room, onsuite handle fell off door very little hot water and room needed money spent on it, however would assume hotel in past was delightful but Morcambe it self needs huge amount if investement to bring people to the resort and sadly cannot see it happening, great shame and like Morcamble the hotel needs serious investement which I assume owners do not have.

A bit dated. Bedding thin. Breakfast ok but limited. No Brown bread!

The staff were so so lovely. We had problems that were nothing to do with them as our ferry to Isle of Man got messed around and they sorted us out despite the ferry mix up. Food is fine , they will ask for preferences, so do say upfront. Breakfast manager worked fast and was sweet as he got to know us. And you have the sea front in view as you eat. It's clean. Bed was comfy and it was a large double not 2 singles pressed together. Again it's worth mentioning again, all the different staff were lovely.

I want to make this clear this is NOT what I DIDN'T like, just making it clear for those reading. It's a small hotel so rooms may be small and stairs are a little narrow. Bathroom was tiny in the room we had. Not many rooms facing sea front, I'm guessing. It's an old hotel so furniture and carpets are worn however I've been in 4 star hotels and they too have bits that are worn. Also what i saw you would have difficulty if you're in a wheelchair as its mostly stairs from what I remember. But in a short stay all I need is a clean room and a comfy bed and friendly staff as a base and thats what we got.

Everything, nice staff, nice food, nice view, nice bed, nice room and a great price aswell.

The shower was a bit dated and wouldn’t drain fast enough, limiting us to relatively short showers.

The Staff were amazing we personally didnt have any problems, but we could tell that they would help with anything if needed. The staff were really fast to help at breakfast, asking if we needed more or keeping drinks topped up. They always checked if we were ok with everything and needed anything more. We would definitely stop again here, the price and staffing are perfect for what we were looking for on our getaway. The rooms were clean and very comfortable. We had kettle tv shower in our room, so everything we needed for a good night's sleep.

There wasn't much to disagree on we had one neighbour which was pretty loud so struggled to sleep but this can happen anywhere and is not the hotels fault.

Bathrooms in need of a makeover

Very dirty, everything falling apart, first time I have ever added photos but it's needed as the pictures on booking.com are incredibly deceiving! We had a bathroom window that had no glass and looked into another kind of room that had clothes and dirt lying about, the curtain covering this was dirty and the threads coming out, carpets weren't layed properly so tripping hazards and not very clean, walls cracked and stained, stained ceilings, holes in the walls! You honestly can't make this up. Felt really disgusting staying there, I have a couple of bites too but could be from the walk I went on to get out of the room. Breakfast wasn't great either, watery eggs, overcooked bacon, burnt sausages, just awful. I feel bad because the whole town is rundown but this place honestly is horrible put

The room . It wasn't what you'd expect from a 3 star hotel , there was no bar no lift

Although the hotel rooms are old fashioned and the decor a little tired in plrts the place was very clean as was the bedding, towels etc. My single room was larger than I expected and the bed very comfortable. Staff were friendly and always willing to help. As a base for exploring The Lakes it was perfect and great value for money. Breakfast was basic but filling.

I enjoyed my stay very much the staff was all wonderful and I felt very comfortable they couldn't do enough for you I had a sea view which was fantastic I would definitely stay there again and the front yard was very big and lovely just to sit in the sun have a drink and meet new people. And the breakfast was delicious they had a good selection I'd just like to say thankyou to all the staff for a wonderful stay .
