Wonderful position and superb rooms.
A pity the room windowsills are so high. You can’t see the wonderful view when sitting down.
Location excellent likewise the breakfast
Location and view
Service at dinner and breakfast was frustratingly slow
Beautiful hotel with unique art deco design. Bedrooms were inventively designed, comfortable and spacious. Fittings were of excellent quality and design. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Amazing position right on the sea front.

Views from the room are amazing. Breakfast did have ample choice and was good.
Our second time at the Midland and on this occasion, we thought that the decor in the bedroom was in need of a refresh, paper was peeling from the walls and the shower cubicle stained which although everything was clean made it look a bit shabby. The reception area isn't clearly defined or very welcoming although the staff were very nice and helpful. We booked an evening meal which was okay but my chips tasted of fish which didn't go very well with the steak pie!!
We love the location of this Iconic Hotel , we have wanted to stay here for some time , love the Art Deco features. Our top floor suite was just amazing, loved the spaciousness and the fabulous views . The food in the restaurant was lovely . We stayed here for our wedding anniversary and it didn’t disappoint, special memories made .
We liked it all
Location Excellent food Lovely staff Art deco ambience
Other guests - some were whinging about ridiculous things
The view.
Dilapidated, stains, wallpaper peeling. Reception is a bar, whole place stank of fried food. Tried to have dinner, took aeons to get served even a drink. Waited 40 minutes for a starter in a deserted restaurant and gave up, cancelled and went to Aldi to get a sandwich. So much worse than a Wetherspoons, and for £160 a night absolutely laughable.
An absolutely stunning hotel.we had a sea view and a balcony. The food was excellent and the staff were so helpful and friendly. We will definitely be going back.
The setting is wonderful and the staff v helpful.
The staff are working v hard and are lovely but they need more staff. The telephone just isn’t answered. They can’t manage this as well. The rooms are starting to need refurbishing.
Everything, room, staff, seating areas, bar, food excellent 👌 location
Just a little expensive but we have been to Morecambe 2 times before and always wanted to stay there, fantastic views
Excellent stay and great room with balcony. Food was excellent and service given A1
Cars in the car park over parking the spaces. Made it hard for mobility items to get passed :-(
This is a hotel with history. The staff were all extremely helpful, the breakfast had everything we could have wanted and it was very good quality too. The room wasn't cosy, it was a bit sparse when it comes to decor but it was clean, the bed was comfy and the room had everything we needed.
the room decor was a bit sparse but it had everything that we needed.
Great location/great staff/excellent facilities
The staff were very attentive and helpful. The food was good although a little basic.
As I say the staff were very good but sometime the service was a little slow.
The history
The architecture of the building is fantastic. The room is also furnished in the same style and it all works together beautifully. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, and the food was excellent too.
Amazing place - everything was just perfect
My wife and I have stayed at the Midland for several years, and always enjoyed the comfort and facilities. Externally now looking for a refresh. As discussed with the manager as we were leaving.
Litter around the building, both front and back.
We could not fault anything about the room. I shared a twin room with my mother who is severely sighted and has mobility issues. The room was spacious and the bathroom was excellent. Could not fault the breakfast, and we booked in both nights for evening meal which was lovely.
There was nothing that we did not like.
Superb breakfast
No aircon
The room was big, comfortable and had stunning views out across the bay. The facilities are good and cleverly hidden away - iron, fridge, kettle and tea/coffee. Breakfast had a wide selection of hot and cold food and drinks and the vegan sausage bap (with brown sauce) was particularly tasty. Dinner is gastro pub type food, with a wide choice and a few veggie options; the pies were particularly good. Decent wine list reasonably priced and service was warm and efficient.
A window in the room was locked and didn't open, it also had a small crack in it. The restaurant should do a few more interesting vegan options for the evening meal.
Excellent
Room decor tired paper coming away from wall, bathroom silicone req redoing, frame under tv grease on drawer slots.Doors onto balcony difficult to operate.
Location and view from room
Very old set in its ways rooms very old style and set back in 2000s bathroom floor very uneven some boards on balcony felt unsafe
Great location and views from the hotel. Good use of vista (sorry 🤣) for dining (breakfast and dinner). Lovely art-deco designed hotel. I dined both nights in the hotel; burger was good, fish and chips was very average 😢
Only low fat yoghurt at breakfast! Why? 😭 Coffee was ***WAY*** too weak at breakfast.
Wonderful architecture and location. Fantastic interior and rooms very comfortable. Food was amazing in restaurant and also great breakfast. James the manager saved the day when our car wouldn’t start and got jump leads and took away the stuff above and beyond! Fabulous staff young and well trained to be efficient and very friendly.
Nothing
Amazing building, beautiful interior, my top floor suite superb
The waiting times for restaurant food where ridiculous, i stated complaining about delay 50 minutes after ordering and still no starter, main course even slower
Spectacular building and location.
Carpet a bit stained in places ( tea splls?) but room immaculate otherwise
The position and view. The room was very spacious and had a well stocked hospitality tray.
The bedspread was dirty and had dog hair on. The scatter cushions were in need of a clean they smelt of BO. We moved them off the bed and told reception.
Location lots of room
Shaver socket missing in room
Everything
Nothing really. Maybe air conditioning in the room instead of a fan
Location
Looks tied from the outsides
It’s in a fabulous location with views of Lake District on a clear day.
The rooms have a very funky design but are a bit tired with worn furnishings.
The bedroom was very clean. We love the layout, the way the shower room/ toilet is quite quirky in an art deco way. The bar and lounge area is comfortable to have a drink. Also the dining and breakfast area is very nice with a great view of the sea. We had a couple of issues which we mentioned to the manager ( sorry I don't have her name) and we were very happy with how it was dealt with. We felt she listened and was sincere. The staff are very good.
Our room was next to the stairs and we could hear the chairs in the lounge area being moved, because the floor isn't carpeted. Dogs are allowed to stay, which isn't a problem for us but why would someone bring a crying dog away it woke us at 6.30 in the morning, because of the layout of the hotel it echoes the noises. We had a couple of issues which we mentioned to the manager.
Great location and views from rooms Well appointed room Good breakfast
food o/k
dogs allowed into all restaurants resulting in loud barking at times throughout meals not what we expected
The view
It was a little expensive
The room was fantastic with a great view.
Nothing
Fantastic location. Great restaurants I’m with a great view of the bay. Lovely food on the restaurant swatching the sunset. 🌅
Fantastic location with views over the bay.
No air conditioning in the room or restaurant. Carpets tired.
Location. Friendly staff It's a stunning period hotel - the rotunda is absolutely superb. Lots of light and gorgeous views across the bay
Staff were friendly but not efficient - service was slow and we often had to go looking for them. Continental breakfast had a limited selection and lacked wow Room decor was tired and worn and in need of some attention - why no art work on the walls just some random calendar? Bed and pillows were hard. Balcony - although lovely to have - didn't feel comfortable to use as there was only a planter separating us from our neighbours - a trellis to at least block the line of visibility would have been much better The hotel itself is in need of a lick of paint and some tidying up - doesn't look as loved as it should be Was not value for money compared to the other hotels with the same star rating
Great location ect and excellent views
Breakfast wasn't great gone down hill this being my third visit , cleaning staff in the room very early in the morning not ideal
Though I know that dogs are a part of people’s families why do we have to be subjected to them in the restaurants. Barking, yapping and eating off plates is very unhygienic. Thus morning a dig began to eat a sausage on the floor and then half eaten was left for the staff to clear up. No wonder some other comments say the hotel is dirty. A room should be set aside for the 4 legged animal’s with a hard washable floor. This was missed off my first review
We booked the suite. It was something we always planned to do and Jo’s birthday seemed the ideal opportunity. We parked up in the main hotel car park and on walking into the foyer were taken aback by how beautiful it is including the amazing staircase. We checked in at 3pm and went up to room 302. We knew we’d booked a suite but on walking in were so impressed by the space. A large double bed, 2 sofas with a coffee table around a TV, large picture windows on 2 sides, plentiful storage space, tea & coffee making facilities, a huge bathroom with twin sinks, loos and a large round bath with a shower over it. Then walking out onto the huge end balcony you have views every which way and a hot tub. The whole room is an experience in itself, it’s ever so slightly showing signs of being a touch rough around the edges such as a damaged sideboard top but we understand a refurbishment is in the offing. We had an evening meal in the restaurant and it was really nice. We had Ham Hock and a pudding each as well as a drink and it was reasonably priced. The only issue was that the sun was blazing into the restaurant at this time making it uncomfortably hot which the air con didn’t seem to be able to overcome. We moved to a table which was shaded by a window pillar and it wasn’t too bad. The staff were superb. A drink in the bar afterwards was a nice relaxed experience. I had a pint of Alpaca Lypse and Jo had a Lemon Spritz. We had a brilliant nights sleep in the comfy bed. It is quiet enough even through we had a balcony door slightly open for ventilation. We had breakfast in the dining room the following morning. This is a buffet plus you can order a cooked breakfast from the menu. All the food was exactly as you’d expect with cereal, fruit, yogurt, pastries etc.. as well as juices and tea and coffee. The cooked items were the usual selection from full English through to eggs on toast etc… Check out was simple and we were sad to leave after less than 24 hours but we had a plane to catch that night. We will definitely be back one day and hopefully have 2 nights there.
Beautiful view across the bay.
Room was starting to feel a little tired, though still good.
Lovely building and views over Morecambe bay
Breakfast was a huge dissapointment. No Coffee Maschine that provided e.g. Cappuccino or espresso, most things come out of a package. The food in General was disappointing compared to my stay some years ago
Fantastic location Beautiful views Staff very helpful and friendly Breakfast excellent
Three adults, they couldn’t provide a 3 rd bed, only bunk beds in a very dark corner of the room Parking tricky as anyone can park there whether your a resident or not need to control it Dogs barking in the night, should not be allowed in a high end hotel
Food. view. Location
Dated dirty communal areas old furniture
Welcoming reception staff. Clean and well equipped room. Ample parking. Good breakfast. I expected from some previous review commients that standards had slipped since the ownership change. However this wasn't the case. Somethings may have changed, but in the main the changes have not been detrimental.
Some areas are beginning to look a little tired and could do with a bit of TLC.
What we expected. Good choices at breakfast. There were plenty of places in the hotel to relax. The views were fantastic.
I would love to have seen more local information for example a local map given with the information sheet about the hotel that we were given on arrival. We had no transport so relied on local buses, taxis . Information would have been useful..
I just had a lovely short break with a friend and couldn't be happier with my stay. The room was spotless, with a cleverly designed bathroom and an adjoining balcony with my friend nextdoor, that made it feel extra special. We received a warm welcome right from check-in, and the service throughout was friendly and personal and relaxed. We spent a lot of time hanging about in the lobby , the bar, and the dining room enjoying the changing view. blissful

Stayed for one night at the Midland and chose it because it was supposed to be the best hotel in Morecambe. Also love art deco design and was interested to experience it. I expected a grand reception area but reception, when I eventually realised where it was, was just a small corner of the very busy bar, with one member of staff trying to do everything, which wasn’t a great start. On first entering our room it looked lovely, but the more we looked round the more disappointing it was. There were some exceptionally dirty stains on the carpet in many areas. There were 2 comfy chairs which were more Scandinavian style than art deco and they were covered in a shaggy, matted fur fabric which again looked really dirty and old and not a suitable fabric for a hotel room. The coffee making facilities were a kettle and instant coffee, and having paid over £200 for one night I would have expected a simple coffee machine with a better quality coffee and not instant. The towels were a good size but were not soft and fluffy as hoped The shower and toiletries were lovely quality and the bed and bedding were lovely and comfy and good quality, so a good nights sleep was certainly possible, but the poor state of the carpet and chairs was really unacceptable for the price of the room. There was a nice breakfast with a good range of cereals, toast, yogurts, juices etc. Hot food was by order but the full English did not seem to be freshly cooked, except for the egg, but rather from a behind the scenes buffet. There was a good choice on the menu apart from the Full English which may have been better. Also, although it’s a minor point, I don’t think I’ve ever stayed in hotel where there is no bin in the room, except for a tiny fitted bin in the bathroom. All in all, the building has a lot of potential in a lovely position, with beautiful views of the south of the Lake District in the distance, but some basic standards were definitely lacking and we did not feel we had acceptable value for our money. I couldn’t say I’d recommend it for the price.
Very friendly and attentive staff, great food and location. 10/10!
Location on the seafront were excellent. Friendly efficient staff and breakfast were first class.
Coffee in the room was not to my taste.
Location to far away from tables, eldery people u able to carry breakfast back to tables, takes at least 4 trips back and forth
Too far away from tables in breakfast room
Comfortable room. Fantastic views. Staff kind and friendly.
Nothing
Location people that worked there were very nice and polite.
Very shabby needs updating. The room we had No air con only a fan which was broken broken extractor fan in bathroom broken leg on big chairs broken lock on door to room broken and the balcony was not safe to sit on boards loose and dirty. Out side chairs that were on grass need replacing cigarette butts all over rubbish left on tables and floor no where really nice to sit outside.
Lovely spacious room with a view of the bay
Faded Glory, but the balcony room was outstanding ...food quality and service poor. Many mistakes on bill which had to be altered twice. Although I must say that the majority of the young staff were really friendly and helpful.
Comfy Room, excellent breakfast, friendly staff, plenty of parking.
Old Reception Area gone. Checking in at the end of the bar is demeaning for an old Hotel with the history of The Midland.
Staff, big clean room and food was excellent. Especially the food. Plus l came for the architecture (2nd visit for my birthday) first one eight years ago. Loved that it was dog friendly and great idea with In collection App
Dirty chairs in dinning area year very unpleasant and the hotel looks tired inside and out. Looked smarter eight years ago with reception separate from bar. Bar was messy. Too many leaflets and cabinets with the same art for sale every where. Wooden boxes on the bar don’t go with the modernist look. The place needs Urban Splash back before the Edan Project opens.
Lovely clean hotel with brilliant staff. So friendly and helpful. We had an evening meal there and it was excellent. Good sized portions that we couldn’t even finish due to so much food. Breakfast was fantastic. Possibly the best hotel breakfast I’ve had. Good value for money as we stayed on a Monday and it was a lot cheaper than when we last stayed 3 weeks ago but on a Friday. Must also say again that the staff were great
Nothing
We hadn’t been to The Midland for approximately three years and are flabbergasted at how run down it now is. We reserved a table for three people for lunch on Saturday. We were en route to Manchester airport and are not local to Morecambe hence the length of time since our last visit. Forty minutes after ordering food I asked if my starter (soup) could be served and if we could have the jug of water we’d requested! The soup arrived at least fifteen minutes later and was inedible. One and a half hours after ordering our food we had still not received our main course. We left! We honestly felt incredibly sorry for the guys waiting on. The kitchen could clearly not cope and the restaurant wasn’t busy! I can not understand why the manager, if there is one, didn’t stop accepting people arriving for food. The owners of The Midland appear to be neglecting their staff on every level and the fabric of the building. Shameful.
didn't like the sausages for breakfast
Location and style
Lack of restaurant staff to clear used tables promptly
The location was fabulous and the room was comfortable and the view was beautiful. The standard of the food was very very good
The wait for food was really bad waiting an hour for your dinner after ordering was not a good experience
Beautiful hotel if a tad expensive. Fab room
The price and it seriously needs sprucing up on the outside. To stay there has to be classified as a treat sadly.
Location was good on the front Food was nice
It’s very tired and could do with a refurb. Tables in the bar area were sticky, bathrooms in the room were dated and didn’t close properly No worth £189 we paid for a room for one night
Iconic hotel in the prime position in Morecambe. The room was large and intrigrantly designed with a host of pleasant surprises. Staff were friendly and helpful. Food was good and reasonably priced. Drinks were good value and cocktails were very good. I would definately stay there again. Also us a good base to make day visits to the Lake district.
Sunday Lunch Service very slow all young school kids working. 2:x Sunday roast beef dinners Ordered Beef over cooked asked if possible to have beef pink answer no it's all well cooked. Good arrived very very fast within like 5 mins of placing the order. 2:very pale roast potatoes 2'pieces of well booked beef. 1 carrot unpeeled cut into chunks with mixed greens. 1'small soon of mash I Yorkshire pudding. Very tiny ladel of gravy. Asked waiter for horseradish sauce no sorry we don't have any Mustard no sorry but I can get you mint sauce. WITH BEEF. Asked for extra gravy 1 because there wasn't much 2 because the food was like warm. Finished meal no gravy came. Never had chance to get waiter again they were to busy chatting at the far end of the room. Complained that the food was cold and we were told no to sauce and never got gravy. Young lady very nice apologize and offered ice cream on the house I opt for coffee friend Ice cream coffee didn't come. Had to re ask for coffee. Get the bill charged for coffee and ice-cream. Told them I wasn't paying for it removed from bill. Bill was £49;00 for 2 beef 1 coke 1 lime & soda Will never eat here again It's really gone downhill no wonder the place had so many empty tables Best thing about it the view but you can't physically eat the view. This is my honest True review I don't normally leave poor reviews but I felt completely ripped off today
숙소가 아늑하고 숙소 앞 바다 전경이 환상적이었습니다

Escorted Out for Complaining After an 85-Minute Wait — Appalling Handling by Management We visited as a family with young children and were told there would be around a 45-minute wait for food. While not ideal, we accepted that and chose to stay. In reality, our food took approximately 1 hour 25 minutes. This is also the second time in less than two weeks that I have had cause to complain about both the level of service and the quality of the food. Despite raising concerns previously, there has been no meaningful response from the management team or General Manager and, more importantly, there appears to have been no improvement whatsoever. That is particularly disappointing because I have been a regular customer here for more than 10 years. I know what the standards at this hotel have historically been, which makes the rapid decline in service and food quality all the more noticeable. This isn't somebody judging the hotel on one difficult evening; this is a long-standing customer watching standards deteriorate significantly in a very short period of time. When I raised a perfectly legitimate complaint about today's delay, I was told there was essentially nothing they could do because they only had one chef working and the Head Chef was off sick. Same situation as last complaint 10 or so days before. I then asked to speak to the General Manager and was told there was no GM available, and that if I wanted to complain further I would need to write to Head Office. That was already extremely poor customer service. What happened afterwards was considerably worse. While I was making my complaint, another guest became involved, offered me outside to fight and then squared up directly in my face. This was not something that happened out of sight or away from staff; this was in the hotel lobby, the staff member witnessed the confrontation and saw the guest challenge me to fight simply because I was making a complaint. At that point I specifically asked the staff member for support and asked for the police to be called. The response was unequivocal: “I won’t be calling the police.” That refusal is, for me, the most serious part of the entire incident. The staff member had witnessed the guest’s behaviour, had seen him square up to me, had heard him offer me outside to fight, and yet my request for assistance was irrefutably declined. No de-escalation of the situation, nothing to remove the intensity now created by this guest involvement for no reason. There was no ambiguity about what was happening and no question that the situation had escalated beyond a normal customer complaint. A member of staff was directly witnessing one guest attempting to provoke another into a physical confrontation, yet chose not to provide the support requested. Rather than dealing with the situation appropriately, calming matters down and protecting guests, I was then asked to leave, escorted out of the hotel while trying to make the complaint. To put this into perspective, my evening began with a complaint because a family with young children had waited 85 minutes for food after being advised 45 minutes. It ended with another guest offering me outside to fight, squaring up directly in my face in front of staff, my request for assistance being refused, and me ultimately being the person escorted from the premises. Hotels and restaurants have difficult evenings. Staff shortages happen. Chefs go off sick. I can understand all of that. What I cannot accept is the complete absence of effective management, the dismissive handling of a legitimate customer complaint and, most seriously, the response when the situation became openly confrontational and intentional towards creating altercation, I. Front of staff and other guests. Nor is it acceptable that this follows another complaint made less than two weeks ago, apparently without any intervention from senior management to address the obvious service issues. After more than a decade as a regular customer, the decline is both obvious and extremely disappointing. Customers who have supported a business for that length of time should not have to repeatedly complain simply to receive an acceptable level of food and service. This could have been resolved very easily with an apology, some basic communication and competent management. Instead, it became one of the worst customer-service experiences I have encountered at any hospitality venue, made considerably worse by the fact that it comes from somewhere I have used regularly for more than 10 years. I would welcome an explanation of why repeated concerns about deteriorating standards have apparently gone unanswered, why a member of staff who directly witnessed another guest challenge me to a fight and square up in my face refused my request for support, and why I was then the person escorted from the premises. But... Like the current state of play on the hotels service levels, I won't be holding my breath. Unfortunately, a local customer lost, not that you'll be too bothered, Inn Collection Group.
Today’s visit was very disappointing. We hadn’t booked, on arrival in the conservatory we asked for a window table if possible, told all the empty tables were reserved. We were seated and given menus and offered tap water, which never arrived. Eventually our order for food and drinks was taken the water eventually came. What seemed like a very long wait our starters arrived, shrimps on toast which was ok. After another long wait our main courses of pie and chips and lamb with apricot stuffing appeared. We asked twice for mustard to go with the pie to be told that someone had gone downstairs to get some! The lamb was probably the worst dish I have ever had it consisted of 3 large discs of stuffing surrounded by a thin layer of fat lamb. I mentioned this to the waiter when asked if everything was ok. He said people are always saying there is too much stuffing and not enough lamb, definitely not worth the money. We didn’t have pudding but did notice that the window seats were still vacant when we left. We were thinking of booking for the Christmas break but have decided against it after today.
I was really looking forward to going to this hotel as I love art deco. Thought I’d have lunch and a pint. It was busy, and was told 30 min wait for food. Ordered a sandwich, after an hour still not arrived. Other people complaining amongst themselves about the wait for food. Went to cancel and get money back after 70mins, manager was literally just going to refund my sandwich, no sorry, no I’ll refund drink as well, when sandwich arrived. Now I may have been cross by now but the sandwich and chips were poor. I am so disappointed, I really wanted to love this hotel.
It was nice but not as good as it was, the room prices still had the prices when it was a high end hotel with a nice restaurant , but now it serves more like pub food , no afternoon tea and the atmosphere not in keeping with a 1930s iconic building like it used to be , staff were friendly ,
Very good location.
No air con.
Location and design
Staff inexperienced and some were off hand We were given a free meal after considerable delays
Beautiful hotel and restaurant. Food was exceptional! All freshly made. Staff were fantastic especially as we had some professional complainers next giving the staff an unnecessary hard time. Fishing for money off the bill before they even sat down. The young staff handled them extremely well better than I would have! Management should be very proud of them. This place really is the best thing about morcambe!
breakfast
Room Carpet Stains Not up to my Standards & the £450 payment ! Main Entrance Off putting Deep Clean Required Same Back Entrance !
The staff were really helpful , hotel was amazing , quirky room , the views were stunning , breakfast was really good , lots of choice.
Went for a surprise 50th Birthday Meal. The food and service was amazing. Will definitely go back and highly recommend.
We visited as a group of 6, sat in the conservatory which was a beautiful view but the sun just blasts in and its roasting, no blinds and very bright, very incomfortable we should have asked to move maybe. Ordered drinks which came missing one and had to wait about 15 mins for it to arrive, food ordered and took about an hour to arrive. Food for the price was disappointing, fish and chips the fish was very overdone, asked for bread and butter and brought toasted sour dough cant make a chip butty with that, chips not great, 2 surf and turf burgers which were ok, chicken burger which was very small, used to do a cracking chicken burger back when it was the rotunda bar, steak pie hardly any filling and like mince, crust very hard, chicken supreme very small potion but tasted ok. £180 all in with drinks, wont be happening again
Clean and comfortable, great staff , great iconic hotel
Restaurant was quite slow, didn’t recieve puddings , waited half hour then had to leave for gig, staff very apologetic, carpets looking a bit tired but still lovely hotel
Good
Situated right on the front overlooking the sea. The Midland has the best location in Morecambe.
The location and the views
The staff were very genuine and friendly. The rooms were amazing - loved the technical design of the hidden toilet. Coupled with the art deco architecture, it was a design freaks idea of perfection.
The hotel is going for a luxury feel (deservedly so) but this is let down by staff demeanour and other aspects of presentation. Certain members of staff were very scruffy - dirty looking, untucked shirts. Drinks were served in plastic glasses - even for indoor consumption. These things gave off a cheap and nasty vibe, and are easily rectified by training and management leading by example. Admittedly we stayed during one of the many heatwaves this year. But You need to either invest in ceiling fans, a/c or buy fans for the rooms. The temperature throughout the hotel, but especially in bedroom, was unbearable
Very good
Room very nosey near the lift
It’s unique
Nothing springs to mind
Iconic Art Deco design in ideal location. The enclosed sun terrace for meals is superb offering great views of Morecambe Bay. Good sized room with walk-in shower. Very friendly helpful staff.
Reception is an odd arrangement, room balcony hardly useable, meals are just pub grub and an average breakfast selection.
Lovely room on the top floor. Amenities not conducive to staying long, for instance, sink in bathroom shallow, no bedside tables for spectacles, iPad, book, clock and other bits used on a daily basis. The floor was used instead! Kettle in a difficult head bang place.
Good location for a stylish building. The hotel was well maintained and clean.
We attended a birthday celebration lunch. The room was looking tired and ventilation was poor. The service was very slow, just one waiter for the whole room.... approx 30 people. Service was across the room rather than table by table which meant that not all at the table were served together, One dish (pasta...veg option) was considerably later as it had clearly been forgotten about, and when it eventually arrived the quality was poor, tasted like a commercial sauce with poor ingredients. When the sweets came, three scoops of ice cream with predetermined flavours, but if you wanted just one flavour it was just two scoops!! Relevant cutlery was not provided for two of the three courses. The waiter, Ewan, was a very polite and well presented young man who was worked very hard and did his best, but honestly, just one waiter for a room full of people? Felt really bad for the people who organised this party and are probably far too polite to complain! Standards here have certainly gone down, several locals had told us so, and it seems they are right.
Totally exceeded my expectations. The room was simply magnificent with amazing design features including wonderful fitted cabinetry and bathroom and very high-end Artemide lighting. The view over the bay stunning. The food was great and the staff excellent. I’ve stayed in hotels all over the globe. This one is outstanding.
The piped music - contemporary pop - is totally out of tune with the design. It should be early C20 jazz, surely?
The Midland exceeded my expectations. The room was fabulous with really superb design features. The beds were very comfortable and the view across the bay quite stunning. The staff team were friendly and professional and delivered a high standard of service. We very much enjoyed our dinner as the sun set over the bay. I’ve stayed in hotels all over the globe. This is quite simply the beast.
Hotel was lovely, really well maintained. Staff were excellent very friendly. The food was amazing. Location is perfect. Can’t fault it really!
