Norton Motel

Great location for my work; new; had what you need for a comfortable stay.

Could have been a tad cleaner, specifically dusty around the edges. Towels a bit old, but served their purpose. A bit odd that reception was in another motel a few minutes drive away and it was a bit like staying in someone’s town house/apartment.

Liked the location, parking.

Didn't understand why he wanted to know our arrival time when we had till 8pm. We had just arrived into Auckland and we're doing things there first so we didn't know how long it would take. Sorry about that. Just that I'm retired so I like to be spontaneous at this stage of my life as I was tied to timetables and so on in my job. Had everything there. great. moving of the feet above was annoying but not overly so. They were relatively quiet on the whole.

It’s just a bit noisy, like at quiet times you can hear the people next door talking but other than that, perfect stay!

Location was central to my activities. The rooms were quite and very clean. I would definitely be happy to stay there again and recommend it to others.

Reception was closed permanently and located a few hundred metres away at another motel. No big problem, but it would have been nice to have this communicated clearly beforehand.

The location, how clean the room was, and we didn't hear any road noise from the traffic. Off street parking was excellent.

It was clean and well maintained

No Wifi . No information in the unit about facilities.No channels available on the unit TV except for YouTube and your own personal login for the likes of Netflix.No information or anything to operate the TV .No emergency procedures visible. Parking was extremely tight probably for anyone with a disability ( in our case it didn’t matter) . No onsite office or reception as it a 3-5 minute drive at another location motel .It isn’t run like your normal New Zealand motel but more like an apartment complex. Also thought the bathroom towels looked a little old.

Lots of space - its an unusually large room. Also, the bathroom is wheelchair access so lots of space, too. The furnishings are all modern and new. Lots of snazzy little details like a black marble bench top etc that add to the space. Great carpark. Was able to park right outside my room door in a covered space, but also big enough for large vehicles.

Staying downstairs, you can hear people walking around upstairs, which is a bit noisy, but at least it's only for a short period of time. The taps have an oddity where they run extra water once you turn it off and walk away, which is weird. Finally, the television could do with replacing: it constantly glitches/pauses and has static images flick across screen.

I really like the quiet, clean atmosphere and the staff are friendly and helpful.

The plugs on the left side of the bed weren't working and the blind on the small window leaves a small gap where people can see in.

Nice standard modern apartment style motel. Kitchen, small fridge, TV, shower and heated towel rail.

Room is supposed to be serviced daily, but all that means is someone takes away rubbish and towels and leaves a pile of clean towels on the bench. Disappointing.

Very clean, modern apartment. Didn't really notice the road noise. 👍 Very big kitchen for the space..all the bells and whistles, extra pillows and a blanket. Rangehood. All of the kitchen appliances you wouldn't normally expect.💯🧁 A closet to put clothes in with the iron and ironing board. Beautiful spacious bathroom, Hot, hot🔥🔥 water. Plenty of off-road parking. Rubbish bins off to the side, very tidy. 😊 Close to our event/ gathering. Managing staff at the Anglesea Motel contacted us so we could easily stay in touch, send photos, ask questions etc.🌟🌟

Not really a dislike... but now we know, it is easier to put Anglesea Motel into Google maps rather than the address like we did...Liverpool St is split across 3 sections, divided by 3 main Sts...🤪 But a big dislike was the bed, sorry.🤨....beautiful as it looked...looks are deceiving and luckily we only stayed overnight. The mattress was sooo hard. Not comfortable AT all... And this is major if you've booked more than one nights stay AND have a busy day/s...you just want to shower, eat and fall into bed right!!. 😔

Upon booking there was no mention room location was at totally different address to check-in, payment and key-collect? If guests don't have own transport, avoid this motel as key collect location 6 minutes drive from room in un-manned swipe-card facilty. ie, if I was dropped off at sight / site, I would not have been able to access.

Everything was nice. The clean room, privacy, parking and location were good.

A bit thin walls so the corridor noise was pretty loud.

Love the ease of check in, location is great for where I had to be. Loved how I had clean towels in my room everyday and my sheets were changed half way through my stay, which was a five night stay.

No towels upon arrival on the first night, rang reception left message but no one got back to me.

Heat pump had issue with flashing light at night, staff offered a solution when called which solved. Our unit was close to the road so had road noise.

We like the modern, simple room and layout. The kitchen has plenty of space and is fairly well equipped. Our bed was very comfortable. The receptionist who we picked our key up from was lovely and Informative too. Easy to find. Free parking. Central to our needs. Our heat pump in the room wasn't working but an alternative heater was supplied, which was effective and heated our room up sufficiently. We were very cosy 😊 This is my second stay at Norton Motel and is easily my go to for accomdation in Hamilton.

The liquid soap in the shower dispenser (Rm 11) was probably a bit old as it had separated and looked a bit strange. I usually bring my own but I had forgotten it so had to use the dispenser soap.

Lovely and clean with a great big bed. Perfect for my stay.

Traffic noise and you can hear when people are walking around upstairs, especially if they are heavy footed.

Location was close to rugby stadium and walking distance to Workingman club for dinner. Clean and modern facility.

Had to pick up key from another motel as no one is on site of one we booked.Rugby game was on so had to go thru a cordon to get keys and drive a couple of kilometres around cordon to get to our motel. If roads weren’t closed it would have been closer. Look in to what is happening in area before booking! Blow drier fell off wall as holder for it was screwed in to jib not timber framing behind jib.

Really clean. Parking spaces are big! The check in was at another property, which didn't make a huge difference to my experience. It was quite close by so it was just a quick detour.

I could hear the room next door snoring.

I wasn’t aware there was a $200 deposit on top of the accommodation cost. I asked for a refund of the accommodation payment I had already made and they said Booking.com had the money. I’m still waiting for the refund.

The rooms are badly soundproofed. There was a lot of noise from doors closing, and a lot of road noise all night. You have to check in at a different hotel a few minutes drive away which is inconvenient. Lots of people say this in their reviews, perhaps you should mention it in the listing or have coded locks or key boxes on site?

I liked the location for a game at FMG Stadium.

I didn't like the road noise, or the noise from other guests - the acoustics for a new building are poor. The gardens were a bit scruffy.

Was a property located away from main motel and had to book in somewhere else No milk in room and was told we give that complimentary and dont have to, so if you want some milk come to main motel to get it!! Bed was very hard and uncomfortable I woke up several times during the night snd so just got up and left at 5am! Bathroom extraction unit was very noisy. Wouldn't stay here again

Friendly efficient reception staff. Clean, modern apartment, had everything we needed. Close-ish to town, 10 mins on a lime scooter. Comfy bed.

It was on quite a busy road, lots of road noise.

I always stay at the Norton in Hamilton, it's modern and clean. Having a kitchen is great and daily housekeeping is a bonus. Very good value for money.

Location isn't for everyone but if you have a car it's very close to the city centre.

We had a lovely stay here. Our room was warm and inviting, and the bed was incredibly comfortable after a long day. The hotel is in an easy-to-find location, which makes everything stress-free. Whenever I come to Hamilton, this is always where I choose to stay.

The only downside I’ve experienced is that some guests can occasionally be noisy, with slamming doors or heavy footsteps. However, this has only happened once in all the many times I’ve stayed here, so it hasn’t put me off returning.
