Hotel is located in a very convenient place, right by the gondola for Oeschinensee Lake & the hotel allows you to park for free on the day of arrival or departure so you don't also need to pay for parking for the Gondola. The view is amazing from the grounds of the hotel overlooking the mountain. Check-in was quick, but they didn't ask if we had a car & it was only when I enquired that I realised we should have been given something to put in our car, otherwise we could have been given a ticket. There's extra charges for using the hot tub or sauna featured on the photos. The breakfast buffet was enjoyable and included in our room price, there was choices for all family members. On arrival, we were told we had booked a "budget room" whereas we had thought we had booked a comfort room. The room was in the basement with no view of the mountain & there was scaffolding right outside our room which wasn't particularly safe for small children. When we arrived, we realised the TV was damaged, we informed the management & they seemed annoyed but did not offer any compensation etc. the radiator was leaking in the hallway & the floor was raising up near the bathroom/toilet. It was however spacious inside and would have slept 6 people and a baby if required with a double bed and two sets of bunk beds. It was also clean. When staying at the accommodation they offer a guest card which gives you discount to the gondola and public transport, but we had already bought our gondola tickets

Perfecte ligging als je vroeg de kabelbaan naar Oechinensee wilt nemen. Gratis parking bij het hotel = gemakkelijk. Alleen deze 2 factoren bepalen wel een hogere prijsklasse, maar het voordeel woog erg op. Wij hadden familiesuite (2volw en 2 kind), die aparte ruimtes heeft (kamer met 2 stapelbedden; kamer 2pers bed, apart salonnetje, grote gang en bdk). Goed geslapen in goede bedden. Avondeten was heel lekker in gezellig kader. Ontbijt was uitgebreid en in buffetvorm. Een half uurtje hottub naast het bos en met mooi zicht op de bergen van Kandersteg was inbegrepen en zalig.

Hello, I respectfully disagree with your decision. I purchased insurance specifically to protect my stay, and I would like to understand how I can use it to obtain a refund, as I paid extra for this coverage. Additionally, no one from the property reached out to me, despite having both my phone number and email address. Someone from the front desk or management should have contacted me before leaving for the day to provide the after-hours check-in process. Please let me know the steps to file a claim through the insurance I purchased. I genuinely need your assistance, as this is the second or third time I’ve faced issues without any proper resolution or compensation. If this cannot be resolved, I will have no choice but to escalate this to higher management, share my experience in a public review, and reconsider using Hotels.com for future bookings. Such a cute little property. We stayed for one night as a travelling group of three females. We stayed in a room made up for three and it was so cosy and well presented. Staff were really friendly and super happy to have us there. Would recommend particularly for the cable car to Oeschien which is literally across the road! Excellent, thankyou!

The hotel was under renovation. They gave us a room right next to the site. They drilled walls in the morning while we were still there. We couldn’t use balcony due to all the stuff for construction. No facility - no fridge, no kettle, no curtain! I complained but no change whatsoever. Staff were all pretty nice but the decision to rent the room while still construction doesn’t make any sense.

We checked in lae night. Front desk service person did not informed us that wifi was not working. We asked lady to give us another wifi pwd she denied the request. For 2 nights wifif did not work at all. Everytime they keep saying it will work tomorrow and they are fixing. After 2 nights we decided to checkout and stay somewhere else for 1 night and property managet agreed to refund us that 1 night and some compensation for inconvience caused by no wifi service, contruction noise in hotel, safety issues in playground. My kid was about to fall down from broken steps of playground. Now, hotels.com telling us that hotel is not agreeing to give us any refund and compensation at all and offereing $20 one key cash which feels like insulting. We paid $1074 for 3 nights. Hotel is in construction and they are not making any effort to make your stay comfortable so stay away from this hotel.

Very Roomy but bathroom didn’t have any locks

Good location next to the cable car. It is unfortunate that the building was surrounded by scaffoldings for major improvements / repairs (something we did not know before hand). We extended our stay by one night. We were offered to stay in the train carriage which was cosy and nice. However the water available thru a foot pump was not working. We had to bring water bottles. Secondly we had to insist to be able to take a shower when we wanted because of potential sauna occupation with other clients. Pricing not in line with the service.

We had a great time at Hotel Ermitage staff was very friendly and accommodating it was very close to hiking and rooms very clean. Breakfast was excellent as well. Hot tub was not very hot when we’re there so did not use it otherwise great location and experience.

Der Check In war nicht so wie erhofft Die Dame und uns gleich mal gesagt: zu früh, Zimmer noch nicht parat. Danach gab es nur den Schlüssel ohne jeglichen Kommentar wo dass Zimmer zu finden ist geschweige wann und wo es Frühstück gibt. Das restliche Personal war aber sehr freundlich und zuvor kommend. Hat tolle Auskunft gegeben und es haben sich nette Gespräche ergeben.

Nice hotel. Just beside the cable car station. While the walk to the hotel from train station was long, it brings you across a very nice field full of small flowers. So it was enjoyable. The only not so good thing was that the hotel was under renovation and have no lift to upper level.

Great place, just besides the cable car station. Without transport can be a strenous walk for those with big luggages.

The hotel is in a very pretty setting and is spacious and very clean. There was some renovation going on, but the staff was very courteous and hospitable and tried to keep the noise to a minimum. We had a great time and would recommend it to anyone who would like to stay outside and city and explore nature.

Super Hotel ! Sehr hundefreundlich und rücksichtsvoll. Die Neu renovierten Zimmer sind ein absoluter Hingucker und das Personal ist super Freundlich. Das Frühstück und das Essen im Restaurant ist qualitativ sehr hochwertig und lecker. Egal ob Familien, Solo, Paar oder Urlaub mit dem 4 Beiner. Für jeden ist was dabei. Gratis Kaffe und Tee an minibar im Flurbereich des jeweiligen Stockwerks. Direkte Anbindung zum Wanderweg zum Oeschinensee und zu der Gondelbahn dorthin.

Construction is going on and you won’t be able to sleep in. All the plug in are very old type. They are in the process of renovating the rooms.

They were accommodating for our very late check-in. Rooms are big. Excellent help from the staff able to help us find jumper cables when our car did not start.

Hotel não é novo, mas é muito confortável. Ficamos num apartamento, com um quarto de casal e outro quarto com beliche em que ficaram nossas três filhas. O café da manhã é delicioso e o hotel tem um restaurante em que comemos muito bem e com a melhor sobremesa de toda nossa estadia na Suíça. Além disso, o funcionário que nos atendeu e o proprietário foram muito prestativos. Ou seja, tudo excelente.

Located just right next to the mountain lift to Oeschinen-lake. Wonderful area for hiking. Very friendly staff, good restaurant. Breakfast was very good and rich, however, not so many warm food.Very nice room. It was a bit surprising that the wellness is not included in the room price, but in any case it was at reasonable price and the hot pot is fantastic. The room price was also reasonable, so overall I can only recommend this hotel.

This Hotel is fantastic. Well appointed and fantastic service. It is quite modern but has the old swiss vibe. Restaurant has quality food and wine. You could eat every meal there.. Some great additional extras are available like the Hot tub and the sauna and fitness room

Très bon hôtel, parfaitement situé au départ de toutes les randonnées pour le lac d'Oeschinen. Le cadre est super, l'hôtel très mignon et le pêtit déjeuner très bon. Petit bémol il n'y a pas de frigo dans la chambre.

This was a lovely hotel in Kandersteg. This is located beside the gondola station and the walking path for the hike to lake. There was a nice restaurant at the hotel that we had a great dinner at and the breakfast was very enjoyable. My family really enjoyed staying here and we would come back again!

It was in a very beautiful surrounding , so naturists, will travel again

Das Hotel ist super gelegen für einen Ausflug an den Oeschinensee. Der öffentliche Bereich ist sehr schön und rustikal/modern gestaltet. Das Inventar im Zimmer ist sehr alt aber immer noch zweckmässig. Das Frühstück war sehr gut, alles was man braucht und in sehr guter Qualität. Leider waren wir vom Nachtessen im Restaurant nicht so überzeugt. Die Pommes waren sehr versalzen, die Kinder assen sie nicht und das Tatar war fade. Der Rest war soweit in Ordnung.

I checked in and had a wonderful exchange with the night clerk. I went up to my room, but couldn't sleep due to the noises being made in the hotel. I finally fell asleep in the wee hours of the morning, making it down for breakfast about 30 minutes before it ended. To say the choices were scant would be an understatement. There was a single slice of meat and hardly any signs of anything else. I ate two bowls of cereal, which I was hoping for more calories before the 11 mile trek up 3,000 feet that lay ahead of me. I asked the woman who seemed indifferent to the scant breakfast or that I hadn't slept well about late checkout. She said 20 for noon and 50 for 2 PM. I headed back down to try to catch some much needed rest, as I knew the breakfast wouldn't provide me the energy I needed. When I woke up, there was no one at the desk. Carrying a suitcase, tote, and backpack I decided to take my things to my car and my dog to use the restroom. I returned to the counter, waited several minutes and was finally helped shortly after 12:15. The man gave me a feigned attempt at acting like "wow, sure is late checkout!" as I'm standing there with a mostly unfilled belly and an awful night sleep. He says, that'll be 54 Francs. "She said it was $50 if I checked out at 2" "Oh no, anytime before 2, but afternoon" Incredulous, infuriated, and downright hangry, I paid the fee. Literally more than 1/4 of what I'd spent on the room for a night to be there for barely an hour extra. I'm not sure if the people I dealt with owned the hotel or they've just tried to hate customer service over time. But 25% of a nightly rate for an hour when there's no designated desk person is absolutely absurd. It's unfortunate that what I would presume are the owners left such a sour taste in my mouth after such a delightful interaction with the night crew. Absolutely would never stay again

We don’t normally do reviews but this place deserves one. Just a gem of a find. Great location, beautiful and comfortable (alpine but modern), and amazing food! (Both the complimentary breakfast and we had a delicious dinner.) and everyone was so helpful and friendly. We would definitely stay here again.

Absolutely loved Hotel Ermitage!! It is simple, elegant and in a great location (right across from the gondola). I loved the decor - a clean, Scandinavian-ish aesthetic. Newly renovated (we thought it was newly built!) We also had dinner there and the food was AMAZING!! Like the hotel - simple menu but well chosen items. And the breakfast (included I think) was delicious. Everything was so fresh and tasty! I wish we’d stayed longer. This place is a gem.

Very good breakfast and good beds, but if you book a family room make yourself sure that was in the main building! The family room with private entrance were down street level, without any view, the bathroom fan didn’t work and the smell in the room wasn’t good. Basically a 2 ** room with a 4 **** breakfast, anyway overpriced in my experience.

Hotel Ermitage Kandersteg (chambre confort family): Je l’impression de louer une chambre de gardien pour ma famille. Chambre 1 étoile et pas 3 étoiles comme sur l’entrée : petits lits, on se cognait la tête. les mouches et les araignées, sale de bain sale en ces côtes. Internet et la télévision ne fonctionnent pas. il n'y a pas d'ustensiles (bouilloire, etc). Séjour très cher pour quelqu'un qui ressemble à un concierge mais payé 522€ pour 2 nuits. Je souhaite un remboursement en raison de fonctions réduites (internet, TV, toilettes super petit, vu mouches).

Når du bestiller et Comfort Room Family-værelse, skal du være opmærksom på, at det ligger i høj kælderniveau ved garagerne med egen indgang tæt på vejen, hvor biler kører til og fra Gondolbanen. Trafikken stopper dog omkring kl. 19-20. Vi ville have valgt et andet hotel, hvis vi havde vidst dette på forhånd. Vinduerne kunne åbnes, men folk kunne kigge direkte ind, og det føltes utrygt at have døren åben. Værelset virkede ikke som en del af hotellet og føltes mindre sikkert. Desuden var der meget lydt, både fra naboværelset, som fungerede som en hyggestue, og fra restauranten ovenpå. Vi forsøgte at få et andet værelse, men hotellet var fuldt booket, og vi fik at vide, at prisen afspejlede værelset. Rengøringen var heller ikke optimal; sengetøjet lugtede af karry, lampen på badeværelset blinkede uden at blive repareret, og der var utætheder ved vasken. Ved indtjekning manglede toiletpapir. Første dag efterlyste vi et skilt til at sætte på døren for ikke at få housekeeping og her fik vi at vide at der ingen housekeeping ville være i de 4 nætter vi var der. Det viste sig ikke at være korrekt. Vi havde housekeeping. Personalet var dog generelt venligt, og vi fik hurtigt rabatkuponer til seværdigheder i området, efter vi kontaktede hotellet. Vi fik dem dog ikke da vi tjekkede ind, hvilket havde været meget rart.

Super accueil , le personnel est vraiment très gentil et souriant . Hôtel avec un emplacement idéal pour voir le lac oeschinensee en rando car chemin au pied de l'hotel et des remontées mecaniques . Le cadre est juste magnifique . Avec vu en terrasse de l'hôtel sur les montagnes . Chalet hotel typique, et chaleureux .

The hotel was what you would expect and it was clean. The staff was nice and helpful. We used the spa of the sister hotel which was also super nice. However, the boss was not nice nor helpful. We asked if we could have an early breakfast because we were heading out early in the day, or at least a slice of bread. He didn’t allow it even though it was 9 pm, and they were about to through out the leftover bread from the day.

Our experience at Ermitage was absolutely phenomenal from check-in to check-out! We stayed in a family apartment that was impressively spacious, offering breathtaking views that truly enhanced our stay. The breakfast selection was delightful, and the staff consistently demonstrated kindness and professionalism. The only minor issue we encountered was with the bed comfort, but it didn't overshadow our wonderful experience. Thank you, Ermitage, for a memorable getaway! ♥️

Hotel was located directly across from Lake Oeschinensee and a bus ride from Blausee. Restaurant was great and breakfast was delicious. The only issue I had was that there was no elevator. We were on the 3rd floor and after riding 3 hrs of trains/busses I had to then transport my bags up the stairwell.

Loved our stay here! An amazing location with scenic views of the mountains. A stones throw away from the cable cars to take you up to the nearby lake which I would highly recommend. Breakfast was lovely, lots of options and dinner had a good menu aswell and was nice. Fitness facilities and the hot tub also available but unfortunately ran out of time. If I was being picky we didn't have a fan in the bathroom. Overall the stay was excellent and would definitely love to go back!

The hotel was next to the cable car station with amazing view It was hidden gems Before going Switzerland we did home work where to go but there was a little mention of Oeschinen Lake where you can do hiking sight seeing Barbecue swimming many activities etc in Summer . It was arranged so convenient for Elderly and pregnant Woke up with snowcapped mountains and waterfalls in front of your eyes was amazing Staffs are very friendly Rooms were modern and very clean with Alpine features Parking is free But no lifts to top floor but they will take the luggage for you About 1 hour north to Jungfrau and Interlaken and south to Matterhorn Initially we felt quite remote but we fell in love after staying there We requested early breakfast before scheduled time due to our trip and they let us in . That was very kind We highly recommend

We wish we could have spent more than one night because it was situated in a beautiful area with lots to explore. The staff was very friendly, the breakfast was good, the room very nicely appointed and comfortable.

Great location. Easy to find. Across the street from attraction. We can hear the cow bells! And the river running. The staff was amazing. The breakfast and dinner were very yummy. I would definitely come back! Highly recommend it!

We loved this hotel. The front desk staff were so kind and helpful - they guided us to great hikes and wonderful massages. We are on our honeymoon and they decorated the room special for us as a surprise - rose petals and champagne - so kind and thoughtful! The hotel is at a convenient location across the street from the gondola lift to Oeschinensee, so it can get a little busy during the day - great for people watching. Overall a very quiet and cozy location; we had a great view of the mountain and waterfalls from our balcony. Also, the hotel had the cutest alpine rabbits that reside on the property!

La chambre n'avait rien a voir avec la photo. Elle etait cependant spacieuse ce qui etait agréable avec des enfants. Le problème est le manque d'insonorisation et le fait que sur les 4 savons disposés dans la chambre, aucun n'avait été rempli donc pas de savon pour se doucher. Le staff est par contre exceptionnel et nous avons été très bien servis.

Idéalement placé pour la randonnée jusqu’au Lac Oeschinen. On a apprécié le hot pot même s’il est payant. Seul bémol; pas de fondue au menu du soir, mais le déjeuner est excellent.
