Superb property. Great welcoming staff.
It was a unique experience, having a palace exclusively for our family. The place is enchanting, a heritage building with lovely gardens right by the Periyar river backwaters. Once you enter the gates, it is like stepping back in time. Serene atmosphere for a very relaxing stay, with attentive and friendly staff members. We enjoyed the sunset backwater cruise, and the homely food. In the morning, we went to offer prayers at the Chittoor Sreekrishna swamy temple situated very close to the palace. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay at the Chittoor kottaram.
Amazing place : Sajitha, Martin, Balaram and Milton. The palace is pure magic, the food is extraordinary and the team just top.
Geweldige locatie en maaltijden, massage was top! Personeel was erg behulpzaam en vriendelijk
The old world grandeur of the house, the home cooked meals and the polite nature of the staff. The surroundings are absolutely gorgeous with greenery all around. The complimentary boat ride was the icing on the cake. Mr. Milton, Martin, the lady who cooked for us and Anthony(the boat driver) all made the stay quite pleasant and one to remeber.
The bedroom could use some curtains, although there are shutters that can be closed from the outside.
Everything, it’s the best place we’ve ever stayed. The quality of the refurbishment is exceptional, the gardens and pool, the food, the staff that look after you but you don’t feel like they are intruding (Martin was amazing). It was a splurge for us but well worth it, this would be unobtainable in Western Europe for us so I am so pleased we went for it.
That we had to leave
Chef Sajitha was exceptional. Her dinner dishes oozed with freshness and flavours Martin - service was very professional and flexible to what we wanted last minute Salam - service excellent and so helpfull Milton such a great leader and full of knowledge and super helpful. Highly recommend this property but also the 1st class service.
Nothing to complain about.
Very attentive and friendly staff; the exclusivity of having the place solely to our group of six; beautiful furnishings and gardens by the backwaters
What a find ! In a way I don’t want to say just how wonderful it is, in case everyone finds out about this gem but Milton, the team and this remarkable property deserve to be discovered. It’s not easy to find by car.. but step through the gates and it’s enchanting.
Everything was perfect. Don't underestimate the time you will want to spend there. We could only squeeze in one night, but next time would stay longer.
There was no room for improvement.
Anyone who has visited Buckingham Palace in London, The Doge’s Palace in Venice or Versailles in Paris can get a glimpse into the world of monarchs. But if you want to experience the life of royalty, sleep in the same bedroom, eat the same traditional food, and be treated like a Rajah and Rani, Chittoor Kottaram is a unique and breathtakingly beautiful building where that can come true. Set in a serene riverside location, with the grandeur you would imagine of a royal mansion…but it’s you living that life, being served, being taken on the boat ride and watching a cultural dance. Unlike other hotels, you have the whole place to yourself. You have all the staff for yourself. You have all the rooms, bathrooms, suites, private plunge pool, the artwork, the lush grounds, the verandahs, the balconies…the whole experience. The staff were attentive, nothing was too much trouble. The property is close to Kochi town, which is only $3 by Uber. The rooms are spacious, beds are comfortable, bathrooms large and clean.
Exceptional service..Milton, Martin, Rohit and Lady chef - all were very courteous , helpful and professional. The food prepared was excellent and we all had a great experience...Anthony the boat man was very good ...Overall a great experience staying in Chitoor kottaram
Maybe a small refrigerator / kettle for tea etc - in the common area would have been great...
Excellent service

Phenomenal management, staff, and and even better property made for one of the best stays we've ever had. Milton, his team, and the chef made us feel welcome, and treated us like Royalty. The home succeeded in transporting us to a different time, with breathtaking water viewers, unmatched privacy, delectable Kerala business, and a tastefully decorated home away from home. It also helps that the whole home is booked in the reservation - privacy and staff attention is great. Even (or perhaps especially) for people from Kerala, this was an authentic experience from start to end - one that cannot be attained in a hotel or homestay.
The booking process can be streamlined and be made more transparent. CGH's website is poorly designed in terms of booking, but booking.com came to the rescue.
The property is historical & beautiful. It's located in a quiet part of Kochi and there is sufficient privacy. The staff (Milton, Sajitha, Martin & Vipin) are very attentive and friendly. The food made by the chef Sajitha was exceptional. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals during our stay there. Mr. Milton Varghese organised a sunset backwater tour on the day of our arrival. It was nice & we had a good time. We also had the pleasure of seeing a performance of Sopana Sangeetham arranged by Mr. Varghese.
The duvets in the bedrooms are not suitable for the warm & the humid weather in Kerala so a light fabric material would have been better to cover our bodies when sleeping.
Since we had an early morning flight and arrived at the property at 4am while it was all dark, it did have a very spooky feel to it. But we were overjoyed from sunrise onwards and throughout the rest of the stay. Lovely staff and manager Mr. Milton who took care of our every need. It felt like staying at our family home and being spoilt :) The views, the boat ride, the special dance performance, the fresh fish and super yummy preparations were all more than what we expected. It was indeed a very memorable and special experience for my daughter and myself!
