The property is gorgeous. Service is outstanding: Staff is warm and friendly and will go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. I was here for a business trip (business hotels in the business sector of town are boring); The staff quickly noticed, made a meeting room available, and pointed to where I could get coffee, etc. The hotel is in the middle of the "old (colonial) part of town" which is undergoing an "upgrade," and becoming the "cool" part of town. (at night the property is very quiet - no street noise). It's a walkable, touristy area at night, full of restaurants and bars, but I also learned from my business relationships that a number of wealthy locals are buying properties close by and making homes, modernizing old colonial structures.

My stay at the Kimpton was wonderful. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The property is really beautiful and located in a perfect area. I really enjoyed the dining options and pool area. My room was spectacular although the view from the balcony wasn’t great. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

The only issue was the loud music at night and early in the morning. Our room was on the third floor near the pool. Next time, I'll request a quieter area of the hotel. Additionally, if there is a wedding, be prepared for strong bass vibrations, as there are no quiet hours.

The property is absolutely gorgeous, you feel like you’re apart of nature when you’re in the lobby. The rooms were very clean and modern. The staff is extremely attentive.

The hotel is beautiful, the rooms are clean and modern, and most of the staff were warm and attentive. Unfortunately, my experience took a turn on the final morning during breakfast. My mother and I were approached by not one but two managers who asked a series of intrusive personal questions — including where we’re from, what we do for work, why we’re visiting, and when we’re leaving. One even asked for our room number. Meanwhile, we noticed other guests around us were simply told to “enjoy their meal” with no such interrogation. As a Dominican-Bermudian woman celebrating obtaining my Dominican citizenship and first property purchase, this treatment felt deeply discriminatory and out of place in a luxury setting. I left feeling uncomfortable and unwelcome — a stark contrast to how we felt during the rest of our stay. This experience sadly overshadowed what could have been a glowing recommendation. I hope the hotel takes steps to ensure all guests are treated with equal respect and dignity.

We were extremely disappointed with our stay at Kimpton Las Mercedes. The hotel is advertised as luxury, but the surrounding area felt unsafe and nothing like the photos, more like a rundown neighborhood. Our room was much smaller than described and located right across from the elevator, making it very noisy with no privacy. The view from both the room and pool area was of deteriorated buildings, not the city view shown online. Customer service was also not up to par. We checked out after one night even though we had planned to stay longer. This property is misleading and not worth the price.

This is an amazing hotel in the heart of Zona Colonial. It’s beautiful and easy access to restaurants and other attractions.

I recently stayed at the property and had a great time. The location, staff, and amenities are perfect. Staying at the property made my trip extremely enjoyable. I can’t wait to visit again.

The property is in a fantastic location, and the hotel itself is modern and just a year old. What truly sets this place apart is the incredible staff. They are friendly, attentive, and go above and beyond to make your stay unforgettable. Moises at Guest Services was exceptional. I had a booking issue through a third party, and he took it upon himself to resolve it quickly and with a positive attitude. On top of that, he was kind enough to upgrade our room, making our experience even more special. His dedication turned a stressful moment into a wonderful memory. Johanna from Housekeeping was warm and thorough, and Damian, the bellboy, was equally helpful and kind. Don’t miss dining at Zola Restaurant, and be sure to ask for Eric. His recommendations for both food and wine were spot-on, and he made our evening extra special. Even the security and valet parking staff stood out. Always kind, smiling, and genuinely happy to help, their welcoming attitude added to the sense of comfort and care throughout our stay. This getaway was exactly what my husband and I needed: peaceful, beautiful, and relaxing. A gentle reminder to future guests: please remember to tip the staff. They work incredibly hard and, while wages in the Dominican Republic may be low, the service and hospitality are truly five-star. Be kind, be generous, and be respectful when visiting another country. This hotel is a gem, but it’s the people who truly make it shine. Highly recommend staying here

Beautiful accommodation in the heart of zona colonial that however didn't meet our expectations on the service side: Wrong room assigned at check-in and were asked to move to another room just shortly after having settled in, no hot water in the room until requested, large amounts wrongly charged to our credit card and we had to return several times to reception to address this - Issue remains unresolved almost one week after our departure and we can only assume that our card was linked to another room.

Everything was very good staff waiters front desk everybody was very helpful and pleasant only thing there is no towels hooks in bathroom and for nightstand is like a small piece wood on wall no drawers

We stayed in Kimpton Las Mercedes for our Anniversary. Upon arrival we were advised that the pool would not be available for the two first days of our stay. This was extremely inconvenient since we had booked the resort specifically for its pool access and had wanted to enjoy it those first two days, since the following days we had excursions booked. We were provided with access to small Jacuzzis. However when we attempted to use the Jacuzzis and after requesting service the first day, no staff came to assist. Once the pool did open there was also no staff to take your drink orders during the day, you had to call in your orders. Most evenings had private events which was inconvenient and limited access to the hotel grounds. Additionally every morning at 7am we were woken up by staff either power washing the floors, vacuuming or buffing. Breakfast was nice but expensive. The free tastings of wine, rum and chocolate were also nice. All in all we would not recommend the hotel if you are looking to relax or have a romantic getaway.

The hotel is nice, clean, modern, and centrally located. Service is slow, and the operation at the pool is a hot mess. They claim to have a pool bar, but it is never open and when you order a drink, they have to get it from the bar in the main floor, which takes quite some time. Pool also had no available towels, and it took some time for them to be replaced. Would stay there again, but prefer the service and ambiance at the nearby Hodelpa Nicolas de Ovando. Manager (guy) talked to me to make things right and assure me that he would take care of it personally, but I never heard back from him. Another manager, named Barbara, was more helpful. Other guests had same issues.

Una joya en medio de la ciudad colonial de Santo Domingo. Lleva abierto pocos meses y el equipo es excelente. Se nota mucho el buen hacer en la dirección , que nos atendió magníficamente en todo momento el personal de sala y de planta muy profesional. Nota destacada al desayuno y al brunch que incorporan en estos días Con una calidad excelente y muy variado. Sin duda, un Hotel para regresar siempre en Santo Domingo.

Nobody answers phones in this hotel. Not the concierge, or the lobby or room service. It was impossible to get a hold of anyone.

King superior room was quite small and crowded bathroom area. Shower leaked out into bedroom Floor and ruined my handbag. Told staff and they texted saying they would move us but this would have been a hassle. Paid for breakfast formour fullmstay but 2nd day they said we did nit pay and charged us again. Did get a refund. Very pretty lobby and breakfast buffet was good.

Kimpton is NEW and gorgeous. Santo Domingo is very cute. Go before everyone else gets there!

The hotel experience was amazing. Beautiful courtyard with complimentary wine in the afternoons and coffee or tea in the mornings. Overall design clean and modern. Within reasonable walking distance to most of the Colonial District.

Surprisingly large, pool area is nice albeit your interrupted by the neighbours shouting from their living rooms 5m opposite, but can't be helped. Just strange to have such a fancy hotel with poor housing opposite. The levels of English within the staff was shockingly poor, especially the check-in staff, for an IHG hotel I can't quite believe it. I had to work in the morning and realised there is no plugs for the desk, what's the point! It was very quiet with few guests but no one went out of there way help, had to chase for service at breakfast and again had issues with English. I speak basic Spanish but a high end hotel should have staff with high levels of English, the Intercontinental certainly does where we normally stay. Won't return, they also have day pass guests who just sit in the pool all day with drinks and put belongings over multiple seats and tables, didn't expect that for this hotel. We won't return as there are many better hotels which are cheaper also.

Beautiful Hotel - has lots of history plus now modern. The hotel staff was great and very attentive.

Hotel it self its nice like videos and pictures. But area even though its called : Colonial Area its very bad the surroundings, hotel staff are nice people and willing to help but they need way more training in the hospitality industry since sometimes they seem clueless about a simple request, I definitely regret staying there Vs staying in a well known Hotel Chain in the financial district area, If they rebuild the colonial area it may be a good option but not now.

Kimpton is the best hotel in the zona colonial, rooms are new and modern. Will go there again for sure.

It was amazing. The staff were so friendly, especially the concierge Maria. The hotel was in great condition and it was quiet, calm, and well located.

I would have preferred a larger mirror at the sink but the vanity was designed as it was and it really was a minor issue. I believe the water available at various locations e.g., the pool/gym area had not been filtered and it made me sick but I quickly recovered but that should be checked. The hotel also needs to install a ATM so clients are not directed to the supermarket. I would recommend for a hotel of this caliber that that it consider adding a spa where a manicure/pedicure/massage can be accessed upon advance request or by appointment. The food, while presented beautifully was not equal to the presentation and was an overall disappointment. I ate one breakfast once and had no desire to return for breakfast or any other meals -- particularly when there are so many superior places to eat cheaply including Villar Hermanos and/or at Blue Mall or the Piantini area. May also consider providing designated taxi service for ground transportation. Parking was also an issue for taxis and there should be allowances -- didn't appreciate the abrupt nature of security when I was paying for a taxi that had to move forward and the assumption that I was not a guest at the property. It was a bit embarrassing and humiliating to say the least. These were minor issues they did not alter the overall pleasant experience and I hope to return as a guest again.

Amazing property but my room was advertised as having a balcony when it opened into a back atrium facing a wall. Was very disappointed by the room, I booked a balcony because I like having natural light. The pool was also out of commission every day I was there, huge disappointment as this was one of the main reasons I booked this hotel.

I recently stayed at the Kimpton and while the property itself is beautiful, my experience was overshadowed by ongoing construction throughout the hotel. For two days, we were unable to use the pool, which was a key part of our plans. The construction was not only disruptive, but it was also visible throughout the hotel, making it less enjoyable to relax and take in the surroundings. On another day, we were woken up from a nap by construction noise. Had we been informed of the extent of the work ahead of time, we might have made other arrangements. It really took away from what was supposed to be a peaceful, relaxing stay. While the hotel has a lot of potential, this situation significantly impacted our experience.

I loved the pool area and breakfast.

La habitación tenía almohadas que olían mal, a mitad de la noche pedimos que nos llevaran nuevas, y lo hicieron. Igualmente, el servicio en el restaurante italiano estuvo lento, y había pocas personas. Pero la comida demasiado buena. El aire no enfriaba bien, y con el calor que hace, pasamos mucho calor en la noche. La habitación tiene algunos problemas: (a) cuando cuelgas las toallas, tocan los controles de las luces y las prenden/apagan si se mueven, (b) no hay espacio de colocar cosas en el lavamanos sin que se mojen, (c) hay muy poco espacio de closet, y el espacio para colocar las maletas queda justo debajo de las camisas, o sea que lo hace incómodo.

We came for one night for a wedding and it was wonderful. Excellent hotel, the staff is amazing the breakfast was delicious. Wish I could stay longer. Definitely recommend and I’ll be back.

Excelente hotel!! Totalmente recomendado. Volvería otra vez y lo recomendaría a todos. Excelente calidad de comida, servicio, habitaciones y las instalaciones en general estaban buenísimas, te transmite paz. El único tema fue que el elevador no funcionó por el fin de semana completo. En general es un hotel hermosísimo y la calidad de todo es 1 A.

Es un excelente hotel desde la llegada el personal muy amable, limpieza y confort. De 5 a 6pm hay una actividad de cata de vinos para socialozacion que me parecion el top 10 con Marcos quien tiene una atencion excelente
