Reviewed Aug 29, 2026We had such a wonderful experience at Upstairs at 38. The place was beautiful, clean, comfortable and had everything we needed for a relaxing stay. The atmosphere was peaceful, and the attention to detail really made us feel at home.

Reviewed Jul 14, 2026The location is nice and central and the apartment looks exactly like the pictures - modern, comfortable, kitted out with everything you need for a comfy stay.
We struggled a bit with the geyser timer - we were visiting family which means getting home later in the evenings, and didn’t always have hot water to shower, which wasn’t great. Thankfully our host Laura was very helpful and sorted out the geyser and got a new gas bottle for the heater (essential in winter!) as soon as we reported the issue to her.

TV only has netflix and YouTube. I would've liked to sign into one of my other steaming platforms.

Place was not really clean. Kitchen floors were sticky when you walked. No fresh towels, no cleaning after we when out, my car had to par in the street I kept waking up to creak, never had a peaceful sleep.

The place was clean, cosy, and had everything we needed. It honestly felt like a home away from home. Will definitely be back!

There’s not enough off the street parking. If there are other guests, you will have to park outside. The area is quite safe though so it is not much of a problem

Reviewed Oct 20, 2025Nice cute little space with all the amenities, the crunchies were an absolute treat. Those are my favourite biscuits in the world and wow they were delicious! The bed was comfortable if not a bit short for tall people like my husband and I. The shower was big and had all the nice soaps and shampoos needed.
The WiFi or TV was slow and not working effectively and luckily we brought our firestick so we were able to watch and I had to use my own data to watch it with. The cleaning lady did not clean out the bathroom bin so when I stuck my hand in there to throw something away I was met with lots of empty loo rolls and sanitary towels from the previous guest that hadn't been removed which was gross! Please double check your cleaner has done a good enough job so the next guest doesn't have to experience that.

Reviewed Feb 24, 2025Beautiful place, with lovely big windows that allows you to take in all the wonderful greenery. I love the terrace in the bedroom. The host provides you with everything and more. Love the fact that she has light fixtures that makes loadshedding a breeze, and the Wi-Fi remained on during loadsheddwhich made it a whole lot more entertaining. Absolutely superb host
