The design
Everything, our ‘go to’ place in Cheltenham. Fabulously appointed rooms and en suites, comfort and quality is excellent. Good food and pleasant, helpful staff. Great outdoor bar areas and beautiful indoor spaces, interested to see what happens now the tented marquees are going. A Perfect position for exploring the Montpellier district and walking into the city centre.
Nothing!
All of it
Location and choice of bars
Struggle with suitcases as lots of stairs to get to room, first room was basement and extremely dark , windows looking on to wall and peoples feet and tables in courtyard restaurant got moved next day to ground floor which much better with view over front .
No breakfast book because we know the hotel & location
Breakfast not included
Great location. Great room. We had room 23, the biggest room they offer and it was beautiful. Bed was wonderful. Not noisy. Air conditioning was nice. Double shower had good pressure. Slept great.
Staff were not very helpful or friendly. Given we paid for the most expensive room they offer for two nights, you’d think they wouldn’t mind you asking for things and would be more than happy to help you. We felt like a bit of an inconvenience to them. Shame.
Absolutely everything. Stayed here a few times and will come back again!
Parking should be included in the stay.
Great location and internal decoration
The Bluetooth speaker in the room would periodically come on randomly (nothing to do with me) and at maximum volume, after several attempts over a number of hours to turn the volume to 0 and then switch it off (even this didn’t work) I had to completely unplug it! Coffee and tea making facilities were sparse with just 2 caffeinated coffee pods for 2 guests over the course of our 24hr stay. Gin menu is extensive and there is something for everyone but sometimes the price shown on the menu isn’t what you are charged. I ordered a sloe gin (single) at £11 with a tonic (£3) along with a pint of Asahi beer at £7 but somehow was charged £25 (£5 extra) which I didn’t notice until after I checked my phone later. Staff were pleasant and helpful.
The room was beautiful
Beautiful traditional property
Zeer vriendelijke staff en een fantastische kamer. Heerlijk ontbeten op (overdekt) terras.
Amazing hotel We booked the executive suite for 2 adults and 2 children 3&5 Room was massive Bathroom huge Bathtub in room incredible Bed superb Location top class Best hotel ever Friendly, helpful, nice staff
If your ok not to go to sleep till 2am or later due to the music. Fire alarm went off in middle of the night. We had a toddler with us too
Next to a club ‘the under’ could hear music at 5.30am. Website shows they open till 6am daily.
Their menus , the staff were lovely! But was slightly disappointed with the room and decor in hallways
Position of hotel was wonderful… staff were very happy to help!
The room
Fire alarm went off half way through the night caused me and my pregnant girlfriend to wake up
The facilities are incredible - genuinely 10/10. The gin & juice bar has a great atmosphere even midweek. I'd visit Cheltenham again just for the hotel.
Parking was good but tricky to find. Some people may find noise from the terrace a problem in the morning - for us it wasn't an issue.

The rooms are decorated nicely and comfy bed.
Noise! Didn’t sleep due to various parties on site till early hours. Moved rooms the next night, only to have the same problem. Then woke up by loud building noises in the morning. Also staff were rude and unhelpful. No refund offered when I made a complaint through booking.com
Location great, bed extremely comfortable and decor very smart.
The ac was impossible to adjust. My bathroom was down a very narrow spiral staircase which was not mentioned when I was taken to my room. I am 75 and fairly sparely but needed to be super careful going down to shower and loo. TV only had NOW so although a very fancy tv made viewing very restrictive.
It was in a lovely quiet area of Cheltenham , beside a lovely park area. Close to lovely restaurants and lovely shops. Bedroom was nicely decorated and bed was really comfy. Shower was excellent.
It was quite a hike to our bedroom. We had 2 cases and 2 back packs. There are no lifts to the bedrooms. Our bedroom was in a different building to reception where you check in. We had no idea this was the case. My husband carried both our suitcases up the stairs to reception only to be told we need to go back down the stairs to get to our bedroom , we had to walk to next building and carry cases up more stairs and through an outside restaurant belonging to the hotel, pulling our cases passed people having dinner. Not a nice thing for the diners to have to put up with . Same thing when we checked out and had to pull cases passed people having breakfast. A couple of guests had to pull their chairs in to let us pass. Not ideal. Hotel was a bit tired in parts .
Beautiful hotel in the centre of Cheltenham. Room was spacious and really lovely. The staff were really friendly and helpful. I would really recommend staying here for a good base to explore the area.
Only the noise from a nearby bar or night club. That is the only reason I haven't marked as 10. We were informed prior to the stay and earbuds were provided in the room.
Good location, good bar.
There was a spiral staircase in the room to go downstairs to the bathroom. The set up was uncomfortable and made it difficult to use the bathroom in the middle of the night. We were not given any choice in this.
The room was incredible! It was HUGE and the bed was so comfortable! The shower was amazing and bedding was to die for!

Everything was loverly
There wasn’t anything I didn’t like
It’s perfect location and easy parking just the street behind. The staff in the hotel and the restaurant are amazing we had a lovely dinner and breakfast as we all ways do for my partners birthday.
Our room was a little under cleaned this time we found a silvered coloured hoop earring under the sofa so it hadn’t been cleaned to the standards we come to expect from 131. As well as the bed was very uncomfortable both myself and my partner woke up feeling very stiff and uncomfortable.
Location was great and staff were helpful and friendly.
Room was boiling and in Lower ground floor; it was a very hot week but surprised there was no AC. The bar areas were very loud at night so make sure to specify rooms away from this or higher up. Place seems more focused on bar guests than residents.
It is not only the best hotel in Cheltenham but the best hotel I’ve stayed at anywhere in the world. The food at the hotel is also very good and better than a lot of places in Cheltenham.
The location of the hotel. The bed was comfortable.
Style over function. We stayed in a very dark room with not much natural light. We had a very noisy air conditioning unit in one corner of the room which didn't seem to make any effect on the temperature of the room. If the unit was switched off the noise from the road outside was even louder. Also at breakfast I found a thick black hair in my Greek yogurt.
Great location
We were waiting to check in in an empty room waiting for staff to come for 10 minutes..
There's this female cleaner who's really nice, always smiling and makes you feel welcome
The bar downstairs is really noisy and hard to sleep in! The hotel doesn't provide toiletries and the prices are expensive - I definitely won't stay there again.
Great location Very comfy bed Great bathroom

Lived the location and the gin bar!
It was super hot weather and the rooms were nicely air conditioned and their outdoor spaces for eating and drinking/bars are beautifully decorated and very bouji! Great value for money.
Some spa facilities would be amazing but appreciate there isn’t the space!
Location
Noise of the extractor underneath our room Very crowded due to the bars next door
Booked 5 rooms for bday very ice everyone enjoyed and went to their sister venue which was amazing !
Check out time 11am to early lol 😂
Good location, very central Gorgeous rooms Fabulous Japanese Superb staff
Room key card system wasn’t working, however this was rectified before bedtime!
The rooms were very well designed and furnished. Felt like a strong premium product. I have been consistently upgraded when I have arrived, which is always a nice touch.
For elderly guests, be very careful when booking and seek accessible rooms. The rooms that I stayed in have consistently been based in the basement. The steps are very steep and hallways narrow!
Rude unwelcoming staff Not approachable
The whole experience
Super friendly and helpful staff, clean, love the decor, huge comfy bed and good location
Bathroom was super noisy and vibrating, as if a generator was attached to the wall Not enough chairs to put things on Nothing to put toiletries on
Relaxed / luxurious/ beautiful
Beautiful property
Extortionaply expensive - £17.50 for 1 glass of wine. No breakfast included in stay. Hotel and bar were pretty much empty.
Gutes Hotel in einer Superlage.
Alles fein
Fantastic location, room, a cool vibe to the whole place - Gin&Juice Bar is a must ! We are repeat visitors !
Small niggle restaurant shuts at 3 pm and a lot of stairs to different blocks so if minikity / luggage is an issue suggest let the hotel know ahead
Great location
Bedroom No 1. Nowhere to put anything and wash hand basin not in bathroom
Great location
Room boiling hot even with AC on!
Fantastic location, amazing decor and attention to detail, spacious suite and helpful staff. Truly a spectacular venue which is why we keep on returning

It was lovely though the terrace restaurant was chilly
We had booked a cot - not ready and no knowledge of it no bedding for cot - staff slightly cool on arrival not very warm but it improved
Lovely room and a very comfy bed.
There was noise, maybe an air conditioner, that lasted a long time.
Location, decor, the bars., The Terrace Restaurant., the staff. Everything was great.
Nothing.
The location was great as were the staff.
There is no lift and for the money paid I would have expected at least bottled water in the rooms, not an open topped decanter of water.
We didn’t have breakfast…. I paid a different price with booking.com To booking direct with the hotel!!!!!!!
We weren’t expecting to walk through the gazebo to get to the house for our room..it was not nice walking through the gazebo while people were having food with all our luggage We couldn’t check in in time as our room wasn’t ready !!!!!! The gates outside were locked to the accomadation which we weren’t expecting The accomandation is split over three separate houses which it doesn’t state
Stunning decor, great facilities, super staff - couldn’t recommend more
Nothing!
The room was wonderful. Bed divinely comfortable and facilities excellent. Friendly staff , delicious breakfast.
Everything was excellent
The bedroom was cosy and elegant. I’m not sure I liked eating in a tent last night. It might be great in the summer but on a cold night it felt a bit bleak. I accept there isn’t space for dining on that site
I would have liked a newspaper with my breakfast but overall it was a very pleasant experience
Very comfortable
Stay wasn’t long enough!
Looks beautiful and is spacious and opulent.
Some areas of paintwork around the place are getting a bit tatty but it doesn’t detract too much from the overall effect.
The position was perfect and it was quirky which I loved.
Nothing
Overall experience with helpful staff and good facilities. proximity to centre of Cheltenham.
Breakfast was a little slow although the restaurant wasn't that busy and the food was a little overcooked especially the omelette. Staff were very helpful and pleasant though,
Room was upgraded
Main Hotel bar closed before we finished our meal in restaurant .
Location, and helpful staff
Could do with some more lighting in the hotel gin bar.
It was very traditional, with gorgeous furniture and bathrooms that made it feel very homely
I felt that it wasn’t properly cleaned the room. The glasses beside the chug of water were dusty and the bath had hairs inside.
Exceptional from check in to check out. Friendly staff, stunning comfortable rooms, excellent food and service. I really cannot fault the whole experience
Nothing at all negative
Everything. Stayed here in separate room s with three friends. Loved the decor, each room is different. All the bathrooms were well stocked with lovely big walk in showers ( two also had roll tops baths). Bedding was excellent, massive bed, 6 feather pillows (extra points from me for a soft squishy pillow to sleep on ) mattress was very comfortable. Black out curtains, Dyson hairdryers, nice touch with fresh milk for teas and coffees. Really well stocked mini bar. The Gin and Juice bar has been elevated to my favourite bar - wonderful service and lots of nooks and crannies to sit in with real fires adding to the ambience. Will definitely stay again
Nothing
Great location and nicely designed
Room was slightly smaller than expected but bathroom was much bigger.
