Diese Reise gab mir genau die Art von Auszeit, die ich gesucht hatte. Vom Moment meiner Ankunft an fühlte sich alles reibungslos und unkompliziert an. Der Check-in verlief schnell, und der herzliche Empfang ließ mich mich sofort wohlfühlen. Das Zimmer war hell, luftig und sehr sauber, mit viel Tageslicht und einer ruhigen Atmosphäre in der Nacht. Ich habe es wirklich genossen, früh aufzuwachen, das Fenster zu öffnen und die frische Brise hereinzulassen – es war der perfekte Start in jeden Morgen. Das Frühstück war einfach, aber lecker und gab mir genug Energie für einen ganzen Tag voller Erkundungen. Besonders hervorzuheben ist die Ruhe der Insel in dieser Jahreszeit. Ohne die üblichen Menschenmengen konnte ich mir Zeit nehmen, durch die Straßen zu schlendern, in kleinen Cafés zu verweilen oder einfach draußen zu entspannen und das langsamere Tempo des Lebens zu genießen. Alles wirkte authentisch – vom freundlichen Service bis zu den kleinen Details im Zimmer. Ich bin erholt, erfrischt und dankbar für diese Erfahrung abgereist. Es ist der Ort, an den man immer wieder zurückkehren möchte.

Diese Reise war von Anfang bis Ende ein wirklich erfrischendes Erlebnis. Die Ankunft zu dieser Jahreszeit war perfekt – die Insel war ruhig, das Wetter angenehm, und es gab überhaupt keine Hektik. Der Check-in verlief schnell und freundlich, was das Einleben sehr einfach machte. Das Zimmer selbst war hell, sauber und voller frischer Luft. Es fühlte sich wie ein kleines Refugium an, in das ich nach Spaziergängen durch die Stadt oder nach dem Erkunden der Strände zurückkehren konnte. Die Atmosphäre war ruhig und zugleich einladend, und jedes Detail schien sorgfältig bedacht – von den ordentlich vorbereiteten Bettwäsche bis hin zu den gepflegten Gemeinschaftsbereichen. Auch das Frühstück war ein Highlight. Es war nicht kompliziert, aber lecker und sättigend, und es gab mir den perfekten Start in den Tag. Besonders gefallen hat mir, wie stressfrei alles war: keine langen Wartezeiten, kein Druck, einfach reibungslos und unkompliziert

I had wonderful stay at Van Phuong Hotel Cat Ba. As it is the beginning of the season, the island feels very relaxing and not too crowded, which made the experience even more enjoyable. The hotel is clean, spacious, and well-ventilated, creating a very comfortable atmosphere. A special mention goes to Seven, the staff member, who was extremely friendly and approachable, always making sure guests felt welcome and well taken care of. Overall, it’s a great choice for anyone looking to enjoy Cat Ba in a peaceful and comfortable setting.

We booked this at the last minute because our original hotel had some water issues and our room wasn’t available anymore so we don’t have very high expectations. The positives were the location and the fact that it was quite calm. Otherwise, I don’t think our room had been cleaned in a long long time. The floor was really dirty and there were ants crawling everywhere. We also only got one towel for two people and when I tried asking for another one (by using google translate as the hotel manager didn’t speak English) she just answered something in Vietnamese… we never got that second towel. When we didn’t have enough toilet paper for three days I didn’t even bother we just bought tissues. The remote for the AC didn’t work so we were just stuck on having it at 25C etc etc

The room was really big and we had a lot of space for our stuff. The location was very good and the check-in was easy, we even could check in early. The furniture in the room was very new and in good shape.

The bathroom was not really clean and we didn’t have a shower head which made taking a shower a little complicated and sometimes there was no warm water. The room in general was not completely clean as well, e.g. hair on the floor and the bedding had some stains and was a little damp, because the room was really humid. You could open the windows and it would get better than, but it’s just uncomfortable when you get into a wet room.

Bed was hard, linen/towels very old/stained. wet room type shower so everything in bathroom/toilet etc gets wet when you shower. AC didn’t always work depends if staff switched the electric on for your room. quite noisy and dark as have to keep curtains shut but matches price point.

Door lock didn’t work. Aircon controller didn’t work. The shower was very low pressure, it basically just dripped on you. There were ants in the room and in our beds. The beds were so uncomfortable, it was like sleeping on concrete. There was a deep loud buzz outside our room late at night. People were incredibly loud outside our door from 5am onwards. The staff don’t speak any English.
