We had a very enjoyable stay at Private Pool Sun Shade Resort & Spa. The property is surrounded by beautiful, peaceful scenery and has a very relaxing atmosphere. The outdoor areas are lovely and complement the quiet setting perfectly. Our room was extremely spacious, and the private pool was definitely one of the highlights of our stay. It was beautiful and gave us a great space to relax in complete privacy. We were also very happy to receive a complimentary room upgrade, which was a lovely surprise and made our stay even more enjoyable. Breakfast was very good, with a nice variety of local Sri Lankan options. We particularly appreciated being able to try different local dishes rather than having only the usual international breakfast choices. The Wi-Fi worked well, and the staff also helped us with our luggage. Overall, we felt the property offered very good value for money, especially considering the size of the room, the beautiful private pool and the peaceful surroundings.

Unfortunately, we did not find the staff particularly friendly or welcoming, which was disappointing and felt somewhat out of place compared with the otherwise very enjoyable experience. The biggest issue for us was discovering that guests could not leave the property between 10pm and 7am. This restriction had not been communicated to us beforehand, and we feel that something this important should be made very clear to guests before arrival. Regardless of whether you plan to go out during those hours, knowing in advance that you cannot freely leave the property is important when choosing where to stay.

Geweldig mooi huisje met eigen zwembad. De flooting breakfast ( gratis, als je 2 overnachtingen of meer hebt).

De afstand tot Habarana centrum, toch 2 km, net iets te ver om te lopen. Het restaurant had alleen buffet, wijn meer van a la carte.

Niché au cœur de la jungle luxuriante, cet hôtel offre une expérience inoubliable au contact de la faune sauvage et de la nature. Nous avons eu la chance de séjourner dans une magnifique chambre avec piscine privée, parfaite pour des moments de détente entre amies. Étudiantes avec un budget serré, pouvoir se permettre une telle suite était une expérience unique et mémorable. Le personnel, incroyablement sympathique, efficace et accueillant, a rendu notre séjour encore plus agréable. Lorsque notre climatisation a cessé de fonctionner une nuit, ils nous ont immédiatement proposé une autre chambre, et le lendemain, la climatisation était déjà réparée. Le restaurant de l’hôtel est excellent, et je recommande vivement le petit-déjeuner, très varié et délicieux. De plus, l’emplacement de l’hôtel est idéal pour explorer les sites voisins de Sigiriya, Minneriya et Dambulla, facilement accessibles en tuktuk. Avec le recul, cet hôtel s’est avéré être le meilleur de tout notre voyage au Sri Lanka, et je le recommande vivement à tous ceux qui recherchent une expérience inoubliable au cœur de la nature.

Pensez à prendre des boules quies ! Les animaux sont bruyants la nuit ;)

Io ho prenotato questo hotel perché aveva la spa, mentre al mio arrivo mi hanno detto che non esiste più, in più l'hotel ha cambiato nome e personale. Cibo locale e tutto simile .

Frühstück im Pool wie auf Bildern beschrieben hat erst am zweiten Tag und auf direkte Nachfrage funktioniert. Wurden zuerst aufs Buffet verwiesen.

Location was nice, with bridges to the rooms

No personal connection by personal. Almost no one says hello or good morning. Rooms outdated, airco was leaking water on the bed. Because windy seasons now, showering outside was cold. Bars were closed.

La situation au bord de la jungle était top. Les hébergements sont beaux et confortables. Les repas du soir et le petit déjeuner variés et typiquement locaux.

La chambre qui n’a été refaite qu’à notre demande avec le réapprovisionnement d’eau potable. Le personnel qui nettoie la piscine et range la terrasse alors que nous dormons encore à 7h15.

Super tolle Unterkunft. Schöne Aufmachung der Private Cabins mit Outdoor-Bad und privatem Pool, wir haben‘s geliebt. Das Personal war super zuvorkommend und hilfsbereit und haben viele Fragen für uns geklärt und sich um viel für uns gekümmert. Das Buffet Abends und Morgens ist super lecker, es hat viele typisch sri-lankanische speisen zum durchprobieren. Ebenso gibt es die Möglichkeit eines floating Breakfasts im Pool, was auch ein sehr cooles Erlebnis ist. Absolut zu empfehlen, wir würden sofort wiederkommen!

Die Unterkunft war wunderschön – besonders der private Pool war ein echtes Highlight: richtig groß, perfekt zum Reinspringen, Toben und Schwimmen. Die Kinder konnten nicht stehen, aber genau das machte ihn ideal zum richtigen Baden. Er war nicht beheizt und dadurch herrlich erfrischend (nicht kalt!). Für uns als Familie mit drei kleinen Kindern bietet die Unterkunft ausreichend Platz, und wir haben uns sofort wohlgefühlt. Das Essen war gut, wir hatten Halbpension. An einem Abend, an dem es statt Buffet a la carte Essen gab, konnten wir wahlweise auf unserer privaten Terrasse essen. Schönes halboffenes Bad – die Dusche ist nicht überdacht, was ein tolles Naturgefühl vermittelt. Der Service war außergewöhnlich freundlich: Nach dem Abendessen wurden wir sogar mit Taschenlampen bis zu unserem Zimmer begleitet. Insgesamt ein wunderbarer Aufenthalt: ruhig, herzlich und perfekt für Familien.

Einige Handtücher hatten Flecken, was nicht ganz zum ansonsten schönen Gesamteindruck passte. Die Armatur der Dusche war defekt, und es hingen sichtbare Kabel heraus – das sollte dringend repariert werden.

De gehele setting temidden van de bananen plantage met eigen zwembad. Alles voelde heel privé. Het personeel is ook supervriendelijk. Het zwembad was brandschoon en werd ook elke dag schoongemaakt. Ontbijt is meer dan uitstekend en super uitgebreid . Het eten is ook lekker en kan op verzoek bij je aan het zwembad worden gebracht . Wat een luxe. De accommodatie regelde voor ons ook een safari naar het Hurulu Eco park tegen acceptabele prijzen . Kortom, onze beste ervaring tot nu toe in Sri Lanka

Le cadre est super, le logement est au top avec la piscine. Personne au top et repas super. De loin les meilleurs repas et les plus varier.

Du bruit générer par des travaux a coté trop top le matin lorsque l’on est en vacance et vue le prix payer.

Fantastische plek.

La salle de bains a l’extérieur et le confort des équipements. La serviabilité et la gentillesse du personnel. Le buffet du petit déjeuner. Je recommande cet établissement.

We liked the location and our private pool. We also appreciated that the food was local and reflected the local cuisine.

The indoor areas were very narrow and did not feel comfortable. The room lacked basic amenities, and the overall cleanliness was below expectations. There were no cocktails available, and the food in the restaurant was not labeled or described, which made choosing meals inconvenient. We did not like that breakfast was scheduled for a specific time, but this time was not respected, as the food was available on the buffet 15–20 minutes later, which disrupted our schedule and affected our tour plan.

Het is een fijn huisje en je slaapt hier echt voor het zwembad aan je huisje. Het huisje zelf is vrij klein en basic maar prima. Qua eten zou ik eerder in het dorp gaan dan bij het hotel, ook qua ontbijt.

Ach het is niet zo hygiënisch als een nieuw hotel, je moet niet de kussens bekijken en accepteren dat de handdoeken en lakens niet strak wit zijn, wel gewassen enzo. maar dat compenseren de mensen en het zwembad wel

Una habitación tipo cabaña elevada con piscina privada y un porche increíble para tomar los desayunos o disfrutar del contacto con la naturaleza. La cama es muy cómoda y las mosquiteras cumplen su función perfectamente. El baño abierto es muy amplio. Al estar en medio de un bosque es normal la presencia de algún insecto, nada reseñable. En conjunto es un alojamiento con mucha personalidad que te permite una inmersión en la naturaleza en la zona de Habarana, estratégicamente situada para poder conocer las ciudades del triángulo cultural de Sri Lanka. El personal es muy amable y atento para todo lo que se necesite.

Das Restaurant sah zwar sehr gepflegt aus und ist wohl auch neu, es erschien mir aber nicht einladend - wobei es drum herum auch nicht viele Alternativen gab. Tat dem Aufenthalt aber insgesamt keinen Abbruch.

Die Villa war sehr schön mit einem schön angelegten Garten ausenrum und natürlich mit eigenem Pool... Wirklich zu empfehlen. Die Mitarbeiter waren alle sehr hilfsbereit und freundlich.

De bladeren van de bomen kwamen tegen het dak, waardoor je 's nachts last had van het geluid van de bladeren die over het dak schuurde.

Het eigen zwembad is geweldig. Wij hielden rekening met een soort dompelbad, maar het zijn echt volwaardige zwembaden. Het eten is verder ook goed verzorgd zowel in de avond als voor het ontbijt.

Sun Shade Resort truly stood out as our favourite accommodation during our Sri Lankan adventure. The experience was simply perfect, beginning with the delightful private pool right outside our room, offering a tranquil and romantic escape. Each evening, we were treated to an absolutely delicious buffet dinner, showcasing the best of Sri Lankan cuisine. Beyond the resort's impeccable amenities and dining, its location proved to be an excellent base for exploring the region's iconic attractions. We found it incredibly convenient to visit Sigiriya, Minneriya National Park, and Polonnaruwa. If you're looking for a relaxing, well-located, and truly memorable stay in Sri Lanka, Sun Shade Resort is an absolute must.

Nothing, a stay to remember forever. In March 2025 there wasn't actually a spa onsite but they have partnered with a spa 100 metres up the road, perhaps there are plans to add a spa later.

The staff were super friendly at all times. We really loved the food, breakfast has a big variety of dishes and it was delicious! The bungalow is amazing too, a comfortable and beautiful place in the middle of nature with a private pool - we enjoyed a lot! I highly recommend!

At the bungalow the WiFi is unstable but at the restaurant it is good.

We stayed at Sun Shade Resort & it was one of the memorable Hotel stay in our life. It was a well maintained property which includes all facilities for us. We had a private pool which includes exceptional floating breakfast arrangement in the pool. It was a nice experience for us. Room service & Dinner buffet were extraordinary. We enjoyed a lot. So finally we would like to recommend anyone who wish to take a new experience, visit this amazing place

this hotel is beautiful, the rooms are great and also the gardens, restaurant and staff are so lovely - this is possibly my favourite place I have ever stayed! relaxing and also in a good location for day trip activities. I cant wait to return

Absolutely fantastic stay! Place is brand new, the rooms are specious and the bathroom is huge and comfortable. The private pool and nice terrace were our highlight and spent plenty of time there. It is located slightly on the outside of town, but also walking distance from everything you need, so we loved it. Great to watch the fruit and veggie garden. Also have to mention fantastic manager, who took such a great care of us, answered all of our questions and request.

The food was not our favorite

I had a fantastic stay at Sun Shade Resort & Spa, Habarana! The resort is absolutely beautiful, nestled in a serene natural setting that made it the perfect escape. The entire property was spotless and well-maintained, and the pricing was very reasonable for such an incredible experience. The pool was one of my favorite features – it was clean, refreshing, and a great spot to unwind. The staff and management were exceptional, always welcoming and attentive to every detail. I also loved spending time on the grounds playing badminton, which added a fun and active element to my stay. I can’t wait to visit again soon!
