Es ist mit Abstand das beste Hotel vor Ort, welches in der Vergangenheit schon viel Prominenz zu Gast hatte, wir hatten das Privileg eine Ecksuite bewohnen zu dürfen mit einem grandiosen Ausblick auf die Burg und das Umland. Sehr gutes Frühstück und exzellentes Restaurant. Sehr freundliches Personal, herausragender Service

Le site est majestueux. Le personnel est aux petits soins pour nous. La nourriture est pour une épicurienne comme moi exceptionnelle dans tous les sens du terme.

Concierge, valet, reception, and restaurant staff were all excellent and professional. Hotel is very centrally located. The restaurant in the hotel was one of the best meals we had during our 10 day vacation.

The property is a bit dated - eg wood trim in the washroom has surfacing scratched off. Decor within the room seemed to have last been redone in the 1990's. The biggest concern was that we were out for 2 hours in the morning and had our door hanger request a room clean. This was not done. I returned from 11:30am-2pm and before leaving requested concierge for a room clean. We returned briefly at about 5 - the room was still not cleaned. My wife phoned again so that someone would come while we were out for dinner. When we returned, cleaning staff had only done the beds and hung up towels - no fresh towels just the old ones hung up on the bars in the washroom. The usual tidying up of things on the floor, garbage etc was not done. This was particularly disappointing given the price point of this hotel.

First impression is of the driver from the offsite parking. Jerome is someone that they should keep at any cost as he is friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable. Detail oriented to the point that when he picked up our luggage on check out he asked if we had our phone chargers. Warm welcome after a long drive. Grateful. The history of the hotel and its location are amazing and I’d stay there again. The garden, pool area and restaurant are lovely and I don’t imagine finding better in the area.

The room we had was a bit worn out. It is at the end of a busy summer season so this could be part of it. I cut my had on the broken porcelain had shower hose. I would think that this detail would have been attended to prior to renting this room. Also chipping paint and some mold at the shower window. Old grand hotel with history and some of this is to be expected.

Old world charm , location and friendly staff

I felt that the general outside area for pre and post dinner drinks was very shabby . Stains on several of the seat cushions and leaves on furniture . Area needed to be tidied up .

Petit déjeuner très limité, hotel un peu rustique, restaurant surfait.

Dommage qu' il n'y est pas eu de douche dans la salle de bain. La salle de bains était très ensoleillée. tous les articles de toilette étaient top. Nous avons voulu prendre notre petit-déjeuner dans le jardin, mais nous nous sommes faits attaqués par les guêpes, nous avons été obligés de rentrer dans la salle à manger. L'emplacement à l'intérieur de la cité et à côté de la basilique est exceptionnel.

La température de la salle de restaurant pour le repas du soir était quasiment insupportable et nous a empêchés de profiter pleinement de notre repas. Nous voulions manger dans le jardin, mais le temps était à l'orage. Un petit couac dans notre menu, le pigeon n'était pas assez cuit, je sais qu'il se mange rosé, mais le notre était cru autour de l'os.

Die Lager ist top, das Hotel ist sehr schön und es ist ein Erlebnis dort zu übernachten.

Die Musik an der Poolbar war am Abend sehr laut und trotz geschlossenem Fenster hörten wir sie bis um Mitternacht. Wir fragten an der Reception ob es immer so sei, die Dame ist leider überhaupt nicht auf unser Anliegen eingegangen.

Tutto semplicemente perfetto. L’hotel è bellissimo e suggestivo, situato nel cuore della Cité Medievale di Carcassonne: soggiornare qui è davvero come entrare in un castello delle fiabe. L’atmosfera è unica, curata in ogni dettaglio e rende l’esperienza ancora più speciale. La camera era elegante, accogliente e molto confortevole. Abbiamo apprezzato moltissimo anche il ristorante, con piatti davvero ottimi, e la colazione, ricca e di altissima qualità. Una struttura meravigliosa, con una posizione eccezionale e un’atmosfera che difficilmente si dimentica. Un’esperienza davvero da vivere e un hotel in cui torneremmo assolutamente! 🏰✨

Hôtel idéalement situé, avec un agréable espace extérieur offrant une belle vue sur le château. Le personnel est accueillant, souriant et agréable.

Les chambres mériteraient un léger rafraîchissement. Par ailleurs, les salles de bains pourraient être plus fonctionnelles, notamment les baignoires, dont l'accès est assez haut et peut s'avérer peu pratique, en particulier pour les personnes âgées.

Room was very worn and air conditioning unit was behind the curtains so at night it was useless unless you had curtains open. We were disturbed by shaking/ rattling in the night that must have been a malfunctioning air conditioning system outside. Staff seemed unbothered with we mentioned this.

Die Lage mitten in der Stadt ist absolut fantastisch. Der Garten (Restaurant und Bar) ist etwas vom Schönsten, was wir je bei einem Hotel erlebt haben. Auch der Gepäcktransport (die Altstadt ist autofrei) ist hervorragend organisiert.

Wonderful hotel inside "la cité". It's a very charming place, the staff is amazing very kind. We loved the garden and the pool, the exterior are really nice and you can easily spend 2 days here. One to visit the area and the second by the pool. The restaurant "la Barbacane" is also really nice. I recommand the diner here.

Fabulous location, historic building, pool was a blessing in the heat. Notable mentions for concierge & Jerome the driver, both did exceptional jobs!

We attended one of the concerts so did not mind the noise of the Theatre behind the hotel, but best to be aware of noise until 11-11.30pm during the festival.

L’hôtel de la cité est un bâtiment historique incroyable avec un emplacement idéal dans la cité. Le restaurant La Barbacane sert un menu exceptionnel. Le cadre de la piscine est fantastique. Le personnel est aussi très aimable. Tout est fait pour que vous passiez un séjour de rêve.

Nous aurions aimé plus d’informations sur les horaires du bar des jardins le soir.

You couldn't get a better location - and with parking. The hotel is beautiful, with nice extra touches in the room. It was our wedding anniversary, and they left gorgeous chocolates, champagne, a beautiful note and love hearts on the bed. Still and sparking mineral water placed in the mini fridge each morning and evening, turn down service with chocolates. Breakfast was good - hot and cold, gluten free bread and small cakes. The view from the porch next to the breakfast room was spectacular.

The bed was very comfortable, but the pillows are a little too high and soft. It's a very old hotel and this is showing here and there. Whilst the breakfast was good, I didn't feel that it matched the cost or caliber of the hotel. It would have benefited from a little more variety.

The place to stay to fully experience Carcassonne. Worth it to get the room with the terrace. Gorgeous views and relaxing garden.

The tub/shower combo is tall to climb into and the tub is steeply sloped so it is dangerous to get in and out of and water sprays all over the floor which is also slippery. We are pretty nimble, but someone with limited mobility should request a room that doesn’t have a tub/shower.

This hotel in the middle of Carcassonne can’t be beaten for luxury and location. A truly five star experience. The beautiful garden with eating area and the pool, means you can combine exploring Carcassonne with relaxation. A real gem of a hotel.

Camere vetuste con arredi e moquette che necessitano di un’intervento di ristrutturazione. L’acqua del lavandino e della doccia scendevano veramente troppo lentamente. Non vale assolutamente il prezzo pagato.

Fantastic experience being inside the walled city.

Lovely old building in the most amazing location within the city walls of Carcassonne. The staff were friendly and efficient, especially those in the garden bar. We loved the pool area, which is a little oasis away from the many tourists in the city.

Our room was very comfortable but just needed a little attention to detail. The curtains had come off the rail in places and the towel rail was broken.

Bis auf den Empfang am Parkplatz, der nett und organisiert war, waren wir vom Service sehr enttäuscht. Wir waren früh da, mussten dann aber über die garantierte Zeit von 16.00 auf unser Zimmer warten. So haben wir uns nicht willkommen gefühlt. Die Beschilderung im Hotel ist unzureichend.

The location was gorgeous.

It’s incredibly dated and not in a good way. We ate in the restaurant, the food was delicious but the service was intrusive and actually irritating. My son was wearing headphones and the waiter actually removed them? It felt like the waiter was almost on stage acting and we should have been his adoring audience. It’s the most bizarre restaurant experience I’ve had.

Tout était parfait. L’emplacement est magique. Les vues de la citadelle sont à couper le souffle. La gentillesse et prévenance du personnel. La piscine, le restaurant, la chambre, les produits de toilette, le calme. Le parking est certes en dehors de la citadelle mais le service voiturier est tellement sympa et le parking reste rapidement accessible à pied. Nous sommes tellement contents d’avoir choisi cet hôtel pour notre étape de route.

The attention to detail and the location. was exceptional. The room was very nice, the gardens were beautiful and the staff attentive. We had breakfast in our room on one occasion which was very good.

My only complaint is that you have to pay £30 per night to park in their private car park situated outside of the City.

What is not to like? The room was luxuriously comfortable with a private terrace offering fantastic views. Dinner in La Barbacane restaurant was a culinary experience exceptional. Service was exemplary throughout. The afternoon swim in the pool with bar on hand was welcome decadence in the sunshine and heat of the day in the citadel. It's not cheap, but it is value for money. Fabulous.

The only thing that I didn't like was having to leave after a wonderful stay!! 😊

L'emplacement est incroyable, et la terrasse donnant sur les remparts est superbe. La piscine, bien isolée, au sein de la cité de Carcassonne est vraiment un plus considérable. Le parking tout proche est également très pratique avec un service bagage très réactif et sympathique

L'attention du service pourrait parfois être meilleure: explications en chambre réduites au minimum, indication sur les horaires de restauration différent entre bar et réception. L'hôtel a beaucoup de charme, mais il mériterait tout de même un "rafraichissement": moquettes fatiguées par endroit, rideaux de la chambre récalcitrants...

Das Personal an sich und vor allem die Bedienung im Restaurant Barbacane. Die Lage ist traumhaft und nicht zu toppen. Das Frühstück ist sehr gut und für französische Verhältnisse reichhaltig. Vor allem mit frischen Früchten.

Difficult to get to

A beautifully located old world hotel within the ramparts of the old city. Lovely comfortable room with amazing bathroom.

My only complaint was that the WiFi kept dropping in the hotel room as if it was too far from a router.

The location and surroundings are outstanding

The feeling I got was it was not in prime condition, the rooms were nice, needing more attention to cleanliness. Drinks service was poor, waited 40 mins for an incomplete order.

This hotel is wonderful, located right within the walls of this magical historic town. We loved our stay here, where the rooms are beautifully appointed and the staff are so friendly and accommodating. The breakfast is in a stunning restaurant with an abundance of delicious options to choose from. We also enjoyed the bar area for pre-dinner drinks. Highly recommend this spot for exploring the old town. Two nights was a perfect stay.

While the decor is part of the Hotels charm some of the furniture and fittings are showing signs of 'wear and tear'.

Pool was quite cold. Dinner restaurant was very formal and loads of courses. I prefer less stuffy and expensive meals (although food v tasty).

Great hotel in a superb location, very comfortable and a great library bar. Excellent food in the restaurant and really lovely staff, particularly Lena and her younger colleague at the bar who were great to chat to and gave us lots of helpful tips - nothing was too much trouble. Excellent service in transporting us up from the car park through the winding streets up to the hotel. Please look after your staff, they were all fantastic. Thanks to all, from Jonathan and Philippa.

Our one and only minor gripe was that the shower could have been better position and with a stronger flow, though we appreciate that this may be beyond your control.

The hotel was wonderful although while the staff was not unfriendly, they were not overly warm. The location is great and the rooms were stunning.

I told the waiter I was lactose intolerant but could handle butter but no creamy sauces. He assured me I could eat the Signature Menu. However many of the dishes did have a dairy sauce and the dessert came with ice cream. When he came with the cheese tray I asked for 2 blue cheeses since those are low in lactose. He added a third slice, clearly not understanding lactose intolerance
