Staff is super friendly. The hotel is very nice and clean. Rooms are super nice, always clean, and the attention to detail is very high. The shared comfort room with a sofa and free cake is amazing to spend the evening playing board games and reading after long hikes. We also loved the dog cleaning facilities (our dog loved them a little bit less!). Our dog learned immediately all the spots where he could get complimentary dog biscuits! The position of the hotel is just perfect, as it is immediately next to Thornhill Trail, and only 20 minutes’ distance by car to a lot of other trails!
Nothing, everything was perfect. It was one of the best hotel we have ever been!
First time we've ever taken our dog away with us and this property was so accommodating as were the staff who were all great. Neil was the stand out, a stereotypical geordie, full of joy, fun and wit as well as helpful. He clearly enjoyed his job and life and it rubbed off. Facilities were great incl the cinema and chill out room. Breakfast was superb. We had a pizza one evening in the restaurant. Was 7/10 and starters came with the main but apart from that we loved our stay and would come back or try the other hotel in Scarborough on the back of staying here.
We had read about road noise and asked for a quiet room at the rear of the hotel. We were given a room on the rear but it was close to the corner and hence still noisy. Was the only negative and the only reason I didn't give a 10/10 for everything.
Property ok. Didn’t like the fact that we did not see any staff from arriving to leaving.

Lovely place to stay with nice staff
Noisy road

We had read about road noise and asked for a query run on the back. We were given a room on the rear but it was close to the corner and hence still noisy. Was the only negative and the only reason I didn't give a 10/10 for everything.
Staff were helpful, location was ideal. Food was good and the room was clean
The fridge hadn’t been restocked from the previous people staying. A few dead flies by the window
Big and spacious, good location for cycling from or driving from
They didn’t let us take bikes up which was a bit deceiving given the name. Made it feel a bit awkward with the staff
Great location in the Peak District – easy to find and ideal for exploring. The hotel itself is very modern and clean compared to most UK hotels, with a lovely interior. We also liked that it is dog-friendly and offers bike rental. The restaurant was superb – dinner was a lovely experience, and the breakfast selection was amazing – a refreshing change from the usual standard fare, with quality, modern options that have clearly moved with the times.
However, we did have one significant issue. The room was uncomfortably hot during the night (wasn't during a heatwave), so we had to keep the window open. Unfortunately, our room faced a busy road, which made it nearly impossible to sleep through the night. Given the £230 price tag for one night, we found this really disappointing. For a hotel at this price point, investing in room air conditioning would make a huge difference.
Lovely location, well set up for outdoor focussed guests. Good bar and good food in the restaurant. Modern rooms with plenty of plugs.
Self check in and departure was a bit of a pain.
Clean staff great
The little details were thoughtfully considered. A bed and plush dog toy were provided and our dog was super happy! We were upgraded to a large family room after issues with the door to our room. It was huge and very comfortable. The room decor was funky and fun.

Very polite staff, nice bar & restaurant, clean rooms. Clearly a relatively new hotel. Food was good, excellent value and good size portions.
Security was a little poor, anyone could enter the bedroom areas. The doors from reception should have additional locks.
It’s in a great location, the staff are super friendly. The breakfast was fabulous.
The food one our 1st wasn’t the best.
Super location in the rural Peak District very close to Hope and train station. Parking, dog friendly, great casual restaurant, good breakfast, decent sized very comfy rooms with blackout blinds and lovely modern decor. Staff friendly, easy self check in.
Nothing!
Very clean, excellent facilities and dog friendly
Nothing
Very clean, well presented hotel with very friendly staff. Room was comfortable and well equipped.
Nothing not to like
Perfect location to explore the Peak District. Nothing too fancy but the hotel was really clean, staff friendly, breakfast good, and you're right on the doorstep for some great hikes or biking.
Can't really think of anything. It gave us exactly what we were looking for.
Nice modern hotel with a nice restaurant, friendly and helpful staff and a lovely lounge with games and coffee/ tea. We found it a great location for Castleton, Edale and Hathersage.
The only downside is the noise from the road, which is very noticable if you have your window open, not too bad if the window is closed. It's on the main road from Hathersage to Castleton, which is very convenient, but the road is fairly busy.
Everything excellent. Staff welcoming and helpful , large car park, bus stop outside ! Spacious rooms with all you could need, even a mini bar. Would stay again.
Nothing negative to say.
Friendly staff, clean room and easy check in and out
Nothing
Ideal for walkers and cyclists . Great location and great views!
The dogs
It’s a truly wonderful place. The most warm and welcoming place. It has a real feel of luxury with a relaxed, cosy and comfortable atmosphere. The staff are so welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. They accommodated our needs (wheelchair user) at short notice. The location is perfect for a ‘stay-put’ kind of stay or if you want to travel further a field during your time there. This is our 2nd visit and it certainly won’t be our last.
There really isn’t anything I can fault, the access around the building is excellent. The only feature, which would make it perfect, would be having automatic doors through to the leisure area from the main entrance and into the retreat room. This would have enabled my Mum who is disabled to be more independent while we took our dog for a walk. Otherwise the access around the building is excellent and although we couldn’t get an accessible room (as we booked last minute) the room they offered worked perfectly, just next to the lift. Enabling my Mum to feel some level of independence. This is invaluable to her and us as a family.
Very comfortable and well appointed rooms. Restaurant is very good - The pizzas are especially good! Simple automated check in and out process and your bill is emailed immediately. Lots of parking. Well located and easy to find. I'm a regular visitor to the area for work and this has become my first choice for a place to stay.
Wifi could be faster. The chromecast on the TV doeesn't work reliably - Probably because it works off the wifi.
Great location and set up
The road noise is pretty bad on the rooms on that side of the building and the traffic goes all night.
Quite quirky but clean and functional. Generous with coffee availability
The hotel is brand new. Very clean. Very good parking. Extremely nice staff.
Not much, but keep track of bus schedule. Local service is reliable. Approximately once every hour. Ideal for cyclists and people who drive.
The room was spacious modern and clean, with extra touches like ponchos and an ice bucket. Great shower. The breakfast buffet was delicious.
Very easy and quick check in, very close to hiking around place, room very clean and bed comfy, breakfast very nice
None
Clean. Comfy bed. Plush towels. Cold beer, full cocktail service.
Noisy road, my room was to the front. V.Hot day (30+!, vUnusual) and just one small window for fresh air. Buffet breakfast only (15£, which is a bit steep). Would have preferred a bowl of porridge (w/ fruit & seeds…) prior to a big day out.
Friendly, heloful staff were more than happy to help us with bus timetables to get us into Castleton itself. There was staff on hand to help with the check in process too. We only stayed for one night, but would have been hapoy to stay longer.
From my experience, there was nothing that we didnt like
Perfect location, clean rooms, nice restaurant and friendly staff.
Very clean overall, stayed twice before,
Room is right to busy road, no airccon so had to leave window open, the noise or the road made it a hard nights sleep. . Discarded coke can left open in the room from previous guest. No coffee pods left in the drawer to use
Location, rooms, facilities, friendly staff, over and above, everything was excellent.
Nothing
food and service were great and the rooms were modern
nothing
lovely, clean and reliable stay! second time i’ve stayed here and it’s great for a weekend away hiking. The receptionist was absolutely joyful and so kind, especially helping us with our oil lid! can’t thank him enough he was so helpful! (although i can’t remember his name, thank you again!) Free cake was a lovely touch, and location is great from popular hiking destinations.
The hotel provides everything you need for a pleasant stay. Room was spacious and clean, well decorated. Breakfast was good, staff were friendly and helpful when needed. We arrived to a double room setup when we had requested a twin but this was quickly rectified.
We had a second floor, road facing room. The traffic noise from the nearby main road was a bit annoying, particularly as the room is hot and the window needed to be open.
Perfect location Really good breakfast Super friendly staff Will definitely return
Nothing
Style and design
Stubbing my toes on the bathroom doorstop. Constantly
im sorry i did not like anything
very noisy road traffic, poor choice of food in the resteraunt, the price charged for 1 night,no full english breakfast,no milk or spoons in our room, the check in process, rooms to warm unable to open the window due to traffic noise.
This is a perfect place for a Peak District stay. We had two evening meals here which were OK but nothing special. The breakfast however really was fantastic. Its not quite full-English but it really doesn't miss it, there are tons of other options and even the basic scrambled egg and bacon was superb. Its unlimited, and with juice and good coffee too. The bar seems OK but the whole place is not really a drinking vibe, most people here are hiking or biking (of course). Its very dog-friendly and around half the visitors seemed to have a dog or two. We didn't have any problems with noise at night, and the room was dark. The bedroom was large and the bed comfortable. This is a good location for the Peak District. There is nothing really within a few minutes walk of the hotel, but there is bike hire on site which you can use to explore the region, and within 30 minutes walk there is Hathersage on one side and Castleton on the other, both of which have tons of things to do. The pork pies in the Castleton bakery are a must-try! And obviously you can do multi-hour hikes to some of the most scenic places in the UK, the options are limitless.
The only flaw was that it was too warm at night. This may be down to the exceptional summer of 2026, who knows yet? There is a fan provided but no aircon and we struggled for the first couple of nights.
Nice simple breaky - bacon, eggs, pastries, fruit, yogurt
Good parking. Enjoyable breakfast.
Fabulous staff, great room, loved the restaurant area. Very chilled out vibes.
Room was a little hot, electronic check in did not work for us (very minor detail as staff helped immediately!)
Fantastic hotel with great staff, everything there works really well and beds are really comfortable
Some rooms are much better than the other with noise levels as it is by the road which is quite busy
It is pet friendly and spotlessly clean.
I had a room facing the road which is very noisy. Had to have a window shut all night - it was very hot all night and the small fan provided did not help much.
Chambre spacieuse et moderne. Salle de bain pratique. Frigo-bar à disposition.
Absence de climatisation. Absence de personnel pour obtenir des renseignements (location vélo par exemple).
New & good location
I do like this property
Good location, close to the attractions.
Wish there was a swimming pool.
Almost everything
Traffic noise with the window open - no a/c
Modern and clean
No air con. Had to close the window to keep the noise from the road out. Therefore the room was not cool during the night
It was clean, staff was friendly there was dog area
It was not possible to sleep in the room because the fan was useless, it was way too hot in the room, worst part with closed window you can hear the cars on the road, with open window its almost like the cars are in the room. So how do you cope in summer? My dog was walking all night in the room because it was too hot for him. So yeah.. double glazing for the hotel with that price, by the road with air con is kind of expected... but was not the case. Facilities would be ideal with those two combined.. however it's hard to enjoy hiking or bikes with no sleep.. that is the most important for the hotel, to relax and sleep... isn't it? Besides that... I had to pay extra £30 for my dog, which was not given information by booking.com.. and I checked for same dates on their website directly was cheaper for bigger room and a dog.. where I have to pay more even thought I did select that I intend to travel with a pet.. Soo booking.com had higher price .. which makes me feel cheated..
Great location, quiet and friendly
Lovely hotel, rooms big and spacious and very clean. The food options in the restaurant were great.Staff were lovely. Easy to park, check in. Well set up for walkers, cyclists and for the dog although we couldn't find info on how to access the dog wash, we just used hose provided for bikes. The small area for dog exercise was welcome.
Presumably due to weather, it was very hot in the room but we could only open the window a crack. A fan was supplied but was next to useless. We had a room at the front which, Unsurprisingly as it's on a main road, was very noisy. Would book direct if we stayed again and try and specify a room at the rear.
New design
Mention that dogs are £15 a night before you complete your booking not after. Very cheeky.
Comfortable, excellent decor.helpful staff. Good value, room price.
Price of soda water in bar & meal prices.
Room was lovely, great bike hire facilities
Wish it had a drying room for wet boots and clothes
Hyggelig personale. Fine og moderne rom. God mat i restauranten og godt utvalg. Mulighet for leie av sykler
Manglende WiFi dekning på et av rommene
Great location. Friendly staff. Nice food.
No air conditioning, therefore we were a tad warm due to the heatwave. Not bike and boots fault. Just an exceptional time.
Free tea and coffee lounge. Comfy beds.
I have stayed here before and was very happy with the price and room. Sadly this time was not as good. My advice would be to request a room that doesn't face the road. On a very hot day, in rooms with no AC and having to have the window open, the road noise makes it nearly impossible to sleep well. This hotel needs AC or better room fans. Prices also seemed to have increased a fair bit recently but I did book the morning of my stay so very last minute.
Great location for our needs. Great atmosphere, loved all the extra facilities like bike and boot wash, doggy showers, blankets for sitting outdoors. Food was lovely and staff very attentive.
Nothing at all.
Great trendy hotel - fit for the area
Nothing
The staff were really friendly
The room was so hot. I know it can’t be helped with the hot weather but it was unbearable. Even with a fan there was just no air
very good!
The hotel was really well set up for walkers, cyclists, and completely dog friendly. The rooms were modern and clean and fully equipped with small fridge, iron, hairdryer, tea/coffee making facilities. The on site restaurant and bar was really good and dinner prices were reasonable. I liked the outside seating area, and outdoor wash station for muddy bikes and dogs. Toiletries and tea/coffee in the room were appreciated. We very much enjoyed our stay and would stay again, and look forward to more bike and boot hotels opening across the country, at present there are 2, one in hope valley and the other in Scarborough. The bed was large (2 singles pushed together) and very comfortable.
We had a room at the front and the road noise was quite loud. We had the window open as it was very hot when we stayed and the room was not air conditioned, just a small desk fan was in the room. If we had a rear room or air con the road noise would not be an issue. The surcharge for dogs at £15 per night and the breakfast buffet felt a bit expensive. We arrived late to breakfast about 30 mins before it finished and nothing was topped up so when things ran out (they were already low when we arrived) they weren't replenished. For the price I think there could have been more hot and cold options, better selection of breads and rolls, and the juices should have been topped up. Also including a dog bowl in the rooms would have been appreciated
Great place
Nothing near by
Tidy, freshness, room service
Temperature management
Brilliant, so clean. Gorgeous rooms. Great food.
Check in easy, staff friendly. Room was spacious, shower powerful and the coffee machine and milk in the fridge were a real bonus. Free coffee and cake a great idea and much appreciated after a day of walking. Ate there in the evening and the food was excellent. Would definitely stay again.
completely blew me away. Usually these places aimed at bikers and walkers are quite basic, but Bike & Boot was awesome. I had a 'small double', the large double must be like a junior suite!! Fridge in your room to put stuff in which is great if you're hiking, or there's a few things you can pick up from the mini bar. Lounge to relax with your mates, breakfast was great, big selection.. Couldn't fault it. tiny touches... the shower gel and shampoo smelled amazing haha.
there was genuinely nothing I didn't like.
Modern, Spacious and close to popular attractions.
Nothing
Great location. Very nice rooms. Staff were always friendly and helpful. Enjoyed having drinks at the bar, and the food from the restaurant was nice too.
The property said it had high speed internet. But I could only ever use the internet in the lounge or the bar. As soon i went to my room it would disconnect and I could not reconnect. As someone who is on a travel eSIM with limited data, I was slightly disappointed by this.
The place itself was great
Food wise it was bad,I couldn't get a jacket potato.
The hotel is nice and the breakfast is wonderful. The rooms are great and the bed is big and comfortable.
Our room was orienteering to the road and it was a bit noisy.
Listed 216 as a small room which was big enough for the 2 of us Lots of sockets and USB ports Friendly and efficient staff Good shower and bathroom Lighting in the room good Easy access to rooms Spacious carpark Love the modern decor and the pictures were fab Lots of places outside to sit and chill
Had to ask for shower gel refill on arrival The room mini bar there was a can opened and spilt The room was noisy from road traffic, had to close the window of an evening and use earplugs to help sleep, the room then was too warm Dirty TV remote control and the TV area and mini bar need to be cleaned The milk was off the following day
Great location and friendly staff
Most pet friendly hotel we’ve stayed in
The room was very warm
Everything was perfect, the rooms, the location, food, staff. Very good.
The rooms were unbelievably hot, there is no air con and no air ia able to get into the rooms. Rhe fan barely blew. This is rhe only thing and say everyone was talking about it at breakfast as it was so hot nobody could sleep.
Excellent rooms, food downstairs, and convenient bike rental right outside.
If you come during summer when it's warm, there is no AC
Great hotel and good bar. Rooms very very clean, modern & nice. Very good sleep
In the Check in system we couldn't find our booking so had to look for staff to help as there is no reception attended all the time. But this was quickly resolved, just a bit confusing when you come inside there isn't anybody.
Everything, one of the best hotels I have stayed in! Very dog friendly, the restaurant had a lovely outside seating area to soak up the sun after a long walking day! Prime location for Peak walks. Very easy self check in, hotel was clean room were very spacious. Thank you for a lovely stay!
Nothing
Staff, were friendly and very helpfull. The hotel, was very clean and well kept, threw out.
Stayed here exactly one year ago and it's gone up, £30, since then.
Lovley hotel, clean modern with all facilities you could ask for.
Location/lack of taxi service but this is no means the hotels problem.
Fabulous place staff were very attentive and helpful.
Nothing it was just perfect for us
Really nice staff, Great restaurant, modern designed rooms.
Quite hot in the room
Dogs were welcome
Bit expensive
Good clean bedrooms. Enormous bathroom Convenient locatiom, with lots of parking.
Slightly noisy group.
A lovely new, clean building designed with thought and care. The restaurant was lovely
Breakfast and location were very good. The residents' lounge, where we could grab a coffee and cake on returning from a day's walk, was very well received. Service in the dining room was efficient and politely offered.
The glaring omission, in our view, was a drying room. It rained on every one of our four walking days so we had a lot of wet kit to deal with. I don't suppose the management would be too happy to have wet clothing being draped around our room, but that's what we were obliged to do.
Great place but could do with a boot room
Now where to dry kit
Room was clean and nice size.
Had a mini fridge in the room which is nice but contents in the fridge ( apart fr milk which was free ) was very expensive.
Nice location
Small window wasn’t great in summer heat
Clean, new, parking included, very helpful staff, room had a fridge, lovely shower and fan in room as it was hot when we stayed.
Food service was slow
The staff was unhelpful. As a hiking hotel you would expect that they would be good at helping with a hikers need. We asked about a packed lunch and they said yes. We went to order it and they said it needed to be done by 7pm it was then 7:05pm and they refused to help. It was passed the cut off. No mention of cut off times anywhere in our room, elevator, reception. And nowhere near to buy food. There name and mission felt very hollow to the reality we experienced. Plus they were more expensive than alternatives. I'll not be using this company again.
Location was beautiful. Good rooms with comfy beds and fab bathroom with a good shower.
Could of done with the staff letting you know about little things at check in. The free coffee and cake that was available which we didn’t know about for one. Maybe just a ‘have you stayed with us before’and then a brief explanation of where things are and breakfast times etc. Was expensive considering you have to fetch everything yourself at breakfast even cook your own eggs. (Boiled) scrambled eggs and bacon available.
Good food for dinner and breakfast. Fridge in the room.
Room was extremely hot. Needed air con, especially if you had dogs with you.
Modern, well equipped rooms, although no air conditioning on the hot evening, there was a fan. Shower was excellent, linen soft & fresh, very clean, staff friendly & helpful.
It was one of those few days where GB enjoyed a very hot day, the evening temperature was slightly uncomfortable. The fan helped & on any regular day this wouldn’t have been an issue.
Great location
Nothing
Lovely hotel, great facilities, delicious food.
Having stayed here before I know how great the rooms are on the back but this time my room was on the main road! Extremely noisy through the night, this had a huge impact on sleep. Even with the windows closed it was really bad. Also quite expensive.
