Dar Hamouda Guest House - Médina de Tunis

La cocinera era muy amable, muy buen desayuno. La cama era muy cómoda y la estética era inmejorable. La dueña es un amor, muy amable. En la terraza de arriba tenía muy buenas vistas. Muy recomendable.

Hay que traer las anteojeras para dormir. No hay persianas y las cortinas no cubren del todo la luz del amanecer.

Tout était parfait ..la situation géographique parfaite pour visiter à pied, et proche des taxis pour les visites plus lointaines ; la maison magnifique, très bien équipée tout y est et très jolie, typique. Le petit déjeuner est exquis et très copieux. Et par dessus tout Amel et son mari sont adorables, très disponibles, serviables et toujours de très bons conseils, prévenants. Vraiment une très belle rencontre !

Lovely guest house right in the middle of the medina. You will rarely see anyone in the guest house after check in with the exception of breakfast. Our room had a huge shower. Access to rooftop with a lovely view of the Tunis Medina.

Cafe on the street right in front of the guest house can be loud late into the night.

The stairs were very steep, and started immediately after the front door, so that carrying heavy luggage was difficult.

Location is perfect. It is in the medina, but not far from main street where you can call texi. Host is very friendly. Although I don't speak French and she doesn't speak English, she is always providing help where I need it. There is a terrace with panoramic view of Medina. It is really nice up there.

We stayed for 4 nights at Dar Hamouda Guest House and loved it. It's very well located in a beautiful area of the Medina and, at the same time, close to a street where you can catch a taxi. Dar Hamouda is beautiful, our room was clean and very pleasant, and the owners are very welcoming. We highly recommend it.

Nous avons tout aimé du Dar Hamouda! Son histoire généreusement racontée par Mohammed, son cachet soigné et authentique, les petits déjeuners frais et savoureux cuisinés par la gouvernante (qui est d'une douceur et d'une gentillesse inouïe), le cake cuisiné par Amel que nous avons eu le plaisir de déguster lors de notre dernier petit déjeuner. Le Dar est situé à l'entrée de la médina, ce qui en fait un établissement relativement accessible pour un quartier historique (quelques minutes de marche seulement de l'endroit où les voitures peuvent se garer). Le transport était offert si souhaité. Le petit café en bas offre d'excellents thés et cafés, nous avons particulièrement apprécié en boire un en matinée en regardant la médina s'animer. Nous avons effectué un retour tardif en soirée au Dar lors de notre séjour et le secteur est particulièrement bien éclairé. On s'y sent en sécurité. Tout autour, il y a une abondance de saveurs, couleurs et expériences. Laissez-vous tenter par le Dar Hammouda, ce sera une expérience que vous apprécierez. Ma mère et moi le recommandons chaleureusement.

No te realizan ningun servicio de limpieza en la habitación,no hay cambio de toallas ni limpieza del baño. El desayuno es muy pobre, repetitivo,por debajo del mínimo y con calidad muy baja.

Posizione molto comoda nella Medina quindi a pochissimi passi dai souq. Struttura molto bella con tipica architettura araba. Si potrebbe però potenziare il terrazzo con tavolini o divanetti. Proprietaria molto gentile. Appena arrivati ci ha dato molte indicazioni su cosa vedere, inoltre ha assistito mio cugino che avendo la febbre si è resa disponibile nel comprargli i medicinali adatti.

Presa nel bagno non funzionante. Colazione un po' monotona. La pulizia e cambio asciugami non è mai avvenuto durante tutta la permanenza (4 giorni e 3 notti).

La pareja que lo regenta no puede ser más amable. Te recomiendan sitios que visitar, están pendientes de ti, nos facilitaron dejar las maletas el último día, y nos enseñaron donde podíamos aparcar gratis.

La localización es en plena medina, en una calle con muchos cafés. Los dueños son encantadores, nos dieron un montón de recomendaciones y nos indicaron donde aparcar cerca gratis. El desayuno está bastante bien, y las habitaciones son amplias y muy limpias. Repetiría sin duda.

No podria decir que haya algo que no me haya gustado.

Het was mijn derde keer in Dar Hamouda. Het blijft een prima alternatief voor de grote hotels. Vriendelijk ontvangst, goed ontbijt en centraal in de medina. Anders dan je zou verwachten is het buitengewoon stil en restaurants zijn allemaal op loopafstand. Voor mij belangrijk dat ook de plaatsen waar ik voor mijn werk moet zijn op loopafstand zijn.

L’emplacement de la maison d’hôte, au cœur de la Médina, était parfait pour découvrir Tunis en quelques jours. Les conseils de notre hôte se sont révélés très utiles.

It's a jewel in the heart of the Medina.

Très beau Dar au cœur de la médina, le souk est à 1 minute. La deco, les équipements, le calme et la propreté de l’établissement sont au top. Je recommande et je reviendrai.

Great location in the medina and the house is beautiful. The hosts were exceptionally helpful and flexible. The breakfast was good.

Our room was directly above the street, which has several coffee shops. The street is busy and noisy from about 7 am to 10 pm, but quiet at night.

Hotel local is good, authentic docarated and new furnished. Bed was comfortable. The hotel owner is friendly and helpful.

The breakfast was not satisfactory, all customer having it on same table. The television was not working. Inside room there is no hairdrier, iron and fridge. The room doors are too close each other and sound insulation is not good so you can hear lot crowd of People inside that let you wake up from your sleep. And another strange thing is that taxi offer of hotel pick up from airport five times much than any transport application, 2 or times much understandable but not 5 times. I was aware of that on the way back to the airport. That is all what i experienced and have intention to denigrate. By the way good criticism makes perfection.

Dar Hamouda is a charming historical dar in the best and liveliest part of the Medina of Tunis. The rooms are beautifully decorated, the bed very comfortable, and the bathroom modern. The hosts (Mrs. Amel and her husband) were wonderful and very helpful. We particularly liked the joint breakfast where you could meet and talk to other guests at the dar. This is always a good opportunity to exchange experiences and meet people when travelling.

Hardly anything to object, but we think that the breakfast could have been richer and with more variety. Also the walls in the dar seem to be thin and poorly soundproofed.

This used to be a family home which has been converted to a guest house. It is spacious, beautiful, well cared for and a fabulous location in the Medina. The terrace has a beautiful view of the Medina and surrounding City. Staff were very helpful and friendly. As were the locals. Everyone was most helpful.

I was pleasantly surprised with the niceness of this hotel. It was beautifully remodeled and comfortable. The owner was very gracious even after I was later in the evening arriving than expected. The breakfast was also very good.

Room was not cleaned for the 3 nights we were there nor where we offered clean towels. Suggest to book an upgraded room as the room we had has a bed that’s takes up alot of space and no place to get off the bed on the side and not much place for bags. Water would be nice at breakfast we had to ask for it

A real gem in the heart of the Médina! Just a few minute walk to the kasbah to catch a cab, with a lovely cafe right in front of it. Our room was in the back and it was very quiet. Clean, spacious for the area, wonderful breakfast and very helpful owners and housekeeper. The place is beautiful too and the WiFi worked great. The AC kept us nice and cool!

My only issue was that I found the mattress to be too hard… but my husband liked it so it is truly a preference. Compared to most of the other mattresses we slept on in Tunisia which were very springy, it is a high quality mattress.

Almost everything. It’s really clean and nicely decorated. Staff and owner are so nice. The breakfast is homemade and really tasty. Also they are full of attention, as it was my husband birthday they made a little surprise.

The location is central in the Medina but as the room is giving on the street there is some noise/ smell until around 11pm and also early in the morning. I stayed 2days so it was really fine for me. And the amiability of the staff and the beauty of the room make me forget about that

The Dar Hamouda guesthouse was a perfect oasis for our visit to Tunis. The Hamoudas are incredibly welcoming and hospitable, they were always available to answer our questions, and made sure we had an excellent stay. The hotel is right in the medina, surrounded by delicious restaurants and beautiful streets. The rooms are perfectly quiet and comfortable, and the breakfast was outstanding. Thank you for a perfect stay!

Very nice guest house, fully renovated in traditional style, and located in one of the nicest streets of the Medina. The owners are extremely gentle and helpful providing information on what to visit. Exteremely quiet at night. Recommended.

The host, Mr. Hamouda was very accommodating. Breakfast was great. All facilities were exactly as described. The Location is fantastic.

Parking is 5-7min walk. So walking with luggage on hot summer day was not very easy. Also, the direct road to the city centre was blocked, So had to go around a few times to figure out the exact location.since google maps is not aware of the road blocks.

The location is the greatest thing about this already excellent guesthouse. It is right on one of the main avenues in the medina of Tunis, and the shortest distance possible to an area where taxis can drop off/pick up. The street also a lively night scene with cafes and restaurants nearby. If you are looking to stay in the Medina (which is otherwise quiet at night), this is a really good place to stay at. Great roof terrace as well, for that last drink and view over the minarets. The wonderful ceiling paneling in particular add to the decor, which is otherwise clean and crisp. Nice new bathroom too!

Small thing, but you may need to fiddle with the air conditioning during hot nights. We turned it on, then off, then on again, which made sleeping a bit difficult. But it was us, not the room. Otherwise, be aware that the medina is dead at night, beside for the street where the guesthouse is located (making this an excellent location!). If you are seeking restaurants there are only a couple nearby (but they are good!).

The aircon didn't seem to work it was very humid in the room. But once we opened to window at night, the cool breeze was perfect to cool us off.

Location was excellent. Right in heat of the medina. Breakfast very generous and local flavor as well. The room is neat and clean.

Room was not cleaned after I returned from site seeing, in the afternoon, and had to request host to have this done.

Style and atmosphere

Nice owner, very friendly staff and great location in the medina. Highly recommend staying there if you are in Tunis.

The accommodation is amazing; beautiful decorated, very comfortable rooms, a rooftop terrace with a nice view and a very tasty breakfast. The hosts are super friendly and welcoming. And also the location is great - in one of the moist vibrant streets of the Medina and a short walk to Kasbah square for taxi's.

The location is the best you're going to get, it is very modern and has everything that you would need. The terrace is, especially, fantastic.

After a few days, the breakfast did feel repetitive.

The location is amazing. You have a nice coffee place and lots of things in a walking distance area. The owners are very kind and welcoming, it was a pleasure to meet them and I appreciate the fact that they careful choose their guests. Our room was neat and quiet.

The location is perfect. It's in the middle of the Medina.Since we checked it in Google maps it was easy to find. The house is modern.Atmosphere and ambience matches perfectly.The taste of interior is astounding.Owners are good and the Breakfast was shops and restaurants are on the doorstep.I can recommend this to anyone.

The value for the property was acceptable and breakfast was great and we enjoyed it. The location was also good for our program and near to traditional cafes. The manager was wonderful and staff were very friendly. The whole property, room and towels and bed blankets were all clean. The property was refurbished and decorated nicely and everything were new.

The property does not have courtyard, which you might expect in traditional houses of Tunisia, but it has good views toward old mosques and the old part of the city from the roof top.

This was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. The owners met us at the property for our arrival around 21:00, took every care to make us feel comfortable, and provided great information on local sights. The rooms are very nice, even nicer than they appear in the pictures. One of the nicest showers I have ever had in a stay.
