Reviewed Mar 25, 2025The location is really good, lovely and quiet leafy green neighbourhood. The unit was exceptionally clean!!! I loved that. It was really convenient to be able to get to the shops and close to a main arterial road - the host was very communicative and helpful. A very relaxing, pretty garden, we really enjoyed the communal braai area, the thoughtful candles left for our use, the fairy lights and the birdlife. Close to some lovely weekend activities too !!!
I would just suggest possibly a top/flat sheet for those who don't want to be under a duvet all night. The air conditioner was a nice extra, it's what we are used to at home and makes a nights sleep and a stay very comfortable for us.

Reviewed Sep 22, 2024After being stuck on the N3 for over 14 hours, we finally reached Howick - exhausted and cold. We made a last minute booking at Greendale.......and WOW!!!! The warm welcome by Karin was exactly what we needed. She was friendly, accommodating and made our stay super comfortable! The unit was equipped with everything we needed. The bed was comfy and warm, the shower superb!!! We were grateful to come accross such an amazing place!!! Thank you Karin, for everything!!! Our appreciation cannot be measured!!!!

I booked a self catering option for my stay so that I would have a separate lounge/living area but found that the bedroom, kitchen and tv were all in one. There was no seating really to speak of except for two barstools in the unit. I arrived on one of the coldest weeks and the only seating area was outside so I ended up eating on the bed. I did not want to cook even though there were facilities as the smell of cooking would have permeated through the "bedroom" and I would have had to sleep with the smell of food in the room. Essentially this is a bedroom with a kitchenette and there is very little space. I definitely expected a couch or some sort of comfortable seating.

Reviewed Apr 2, 2024The hosts were extremely friendly and the gardens were simply beautiful (added bonus was my 5-year-old getting to pick fresh veg from their vegetable garden!). The unit is lovely and spacious. We had everything we needed in the unit. It was secure and well located in Howick. The instructions for arrival and departure over WhatsApp were lovely, clear and creative.
There isn't a lot of privacy between the children's room and the main bedroom (no doors that can close) which was fine in my case but may be a factor for others to consider.

The accommodation I had originally booked was an 'economy' room, however, the proprietor very kindly upgraded me, at NO extra cost, to a really comfortable, nicely appointed, larger room which just happened to be available for the duration of my stay. There was meticulous attention to detail, and everything was spotlessly clean and tidy. I forgot to have a look at the 'economy' room before I left so cannot, in all honesty, give it full marks for 'Value for Money' as I didn't personally see it. Close to town in a quiet suburban street and efficiently run by a thoughtful, caring proprietor whose first concern is the guest.

Reviewed Mar 6, 2024Very warm welcome; comfortably carpeted floor, covered with spotlessly clean rugs; clever use of space, eg. compact and cosy kitchenette, well-equipped, with good sized dining table, in alcove which separated it from bedroom area, so a spacious ambience; pleasant garden environment; comfortable overnight temperature on chilly evening, thanks to effective wall heaters; provision of bottled water and a jug of milk in fridge; loads of storage space in a large number of built-in cupboards/wardrobes.
Although a very nice suburb, pot-holed roads, poorly signposted, but certainly not the fault of the host, who literally went the extra mile to lead us to the accommodation when we could not find our way.

The curtains could have been darker to keep light from shining through early morning. It's a bit of an inconvenience that the property only has a toilet upstairs, and you have to remove shoes before rushing upstairs. (Removal of shoes is the request of the owner)

The host was very kind, normally they don’t do late check ins but she made an exception for us because we arrived at 10pm. She waited up, she was very friendly and we had a short but great chat.
