It was an awesome stay, nice location, good rooms and kitchen and an overall great atmosphere with the other travelers and staff!!!

Good people, good vibe, close to the beach and the cliff. Everything is close by and if you need any help they will help you. I really enjoyed my stay and had a wonderful experience.

Perfect place for a workation! The high-speed Wi-Fi made work smooth, and I loved the community kitchen for cooking. The garden with plenty of hammocks was great to chill out, and I even got to meet other travelers – the social vibe was amazing. Special thanks to Pintu ji for helping me with everything I needed. The property is also very close to the main beach, which was super convenient

Leaving this place

My experience to stay here was very good. I came for the workation & didn't face any problem. Wifi works very well & they also have homely food which made my stay more comfortable . In the evening, it was a ritual to go for the sunset walk with everybody there & the host also took all of us to a nearby temple and introduced us with the local culture. I can recommend this place to all travelers :)

Felt like home and peaceful. Well maintained. Hosts Pintu and Raman bhai are the best. Great Raman Bhai has started thehostelstories in Varkala, Dharmshala and Bir Biling. So I will be travelling to Bir in Oct or Nov to stay at Raman Bhai's Hostel only. Sukra Khadiya, he makes really tasty food. I stopped spending money for food outside. I made Hyderabadi Dum Biryani too.

It was an off season, missing group vibe.

I loved this hostel.Its the place to stay if you're traveling alone and want to meet new people. The hostel has a fantastic, friendly vibe that makes it so easy to connect with others. This hostel is excellent! The location is perfect, with the beach a short walk away. The community kitchen is well-equipped, making it a great place to meet other travelers. The WiFi was fast and reliable for Workation. The atmosphere is incredibly welcoming. The experience provided great memories and new friends from around the world. Highly recommended!

Perfect for workation, good wifi, they had an actually functioning community kitchen. Great for solo female travellers, it was a good place to start my travel journey! Comfortable dorms, is near the helipad so all cafes were walkable, even black sand beach and Papanasam beach were easily reachable for sunset.

One of the best hostels to stay at in Varkala! Here, you’re free to cook in the common kitchen apart from this you will get homely food, and there’s always something fun to do—whether it’s painting, gaming, or joining in on other creative activities. I did workation and the wifi speed was good 💯.

I really liked the location of the hostel. Its very close to the north cliff but still located at quiet location. Grocery shop is nearby & you can also cook something in community kitchen. Being a solo female traveler i felt hostel stories very safe & comfortable. Host Pintu is very friendly & helpful :) I will come back soon.

In Varkala's heart, where the sea sings low, I found a place where good vibes flow. The Hostel Stories, calm and kind, A little world that eases the mind. The host, a soul so warm and bright, Turned every day into pure delight. The beach was near, the breeze so free, Whispers of waves, calling to me. The rooms were lovely, the vibe was true, With laughter shared and skies so blue. And oh, the food! A tasty grace, A comfort in every bite I’d embrace. It wasn’t just a place to stay, But memories made along the way. A story told in sunsets gold— A piece of peace my heart still holds.

This was my second time staying at Hostel Stories in Varkala, and just like the first, it was nothing short of marvellous! Returning here felt like coming back to a familiar, warm, and welcoming space where every corner has a story to tell. The location is another highlight. Just a short walk away from the cliff and the beach, you get the best of both worlds – peace and accessibility. The sunsets here are something else, and watching them with new friends from the hostel terrace is now a core memory for me.

2 massive cockroaches in the bathroom when we arrived.. The bathroom window had no mossie net over the window so anything could (and did) come in. There were many black hairs on the wall in the bathroom (we're not black haired). Bathroom needed a thorough clean!

The host, Pintu was so warm and welcoming. Extremely polite, always had a smile on his face. Helped us out with any information we required regarding kayaking, best beaches to visit, etc. The hostel is also beautifully decorated. Extremely chilled out vibe and a great set of hostel mates who were very welcoming as well. You should definitely check this hostel out if you are looking for a laid back, chill and colorful environment. Truly a great stay. Felt like home.

Electicity cut out fairly regularly. Standard of cleanliness was exceptionally poor. Fridge and worksurfaces filthy. ( We have stayed in a number of hostels/residencies) nothing as dirty. Lacked hostel atmosphere, probably due to being low season. Bed sheets uncomfortable: synthetic material.

Mithra here, We were 3 girls travelling for the first time to varkala for 5 days and we didn’t wanna leave . We never expected such high levels of warmth and hospitality from anyone here. Our very own raman bhai and pintu made us feel right at home 🏠 ! As girls, our first priority is our safety. Hostel stories is THE BEST CHOICE. Not only did they make us feel welcome, we felt extremely safe and comfortable. From the common area to their fully equipped kitchen and full time working AC and also the market which is only 100m from the hostel. And looking at the best views, just 250m from the hostel, this HOSTEL is placed at the best location. Amenities at the very best, good balance of quiet and vibe. Other than wanting to extend the stay, there is no reason to miss this experience and hostel 🥹🥹. We shall definitely miss everyone and this wonderful experience is gonna always be with us.

Leaving this place was the hardest part, as it had been our home, filled with affection, cherished memories, and wonderful new friendships. It gave us the best first experience of hostel life, making it truly unforgettable and leaving a lasting impact on our hearts.

The Hostel Stories in Varkala is an incredibly friendly place to stay if you're visiting Varkala. I’ve been there for three weeks, and from the very first day, I felt at home—even though it was my first time in India! The hostel has a beautiful garden with hammocks, chairs, and fruit trees, always filled with good vibes and friendly people to chat with. The atmosphere is both calm and welcoming, making it easy to connect with other travelers while also having space to relax on your own. If you're traveling solo, I promise you won’t feel lonely! There’s also a lovely terrace where you can practice yoga early in the morning, hang your clothes to dry, or simply lie back and watch the stars at night. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and the hostel is just a short walk from the South Cliff, where you’ll find the amazong ocean, cafés, restaurants, and all the shops you might need. A huge thank you to Pintu and all the staff at the hostel—you made my stay unforgettable!

I’ve had an amazing experience staying The atmosphere is welcoming, and the people here make it feel like a home away from home. A special mention to Pintu, who always goes out of his way to help everyone—his kindness and support make a big difference. Also, Nishanth (aka Chocolate) is an exceptional cook! His delicious meals and the care he puts into feeding everyone truly enhance the stay. The overall vibe of the hostel is friendly and warm, making it easy to connect with people and feel comfortable. If you’re looking for a place where you’re treated like family, this is it! Especially backpackers I can say it is a paradise

I liked the comfort it gave to a solo traveller. The hostel guys organised an evening walk by the beach and it was amazing. I was earlier staying in another hostel which had all the groups coming in and heavily crowded. This place had the environment I was looking for. The evening Toddy Night was fun, I got to sit with solo travellers from all around the world. Extra 5 stars for the food and hospitality.

Had a great stay at The Hostel Stories! It is centrally located(200 m walk to Varkala Beach) The property is neat & clean with proper hygiene maintained. Rooms are well furnished with proper spaces. The staff is congenial and very helpful. A must visit for solo travellers or short groups.

This the best hostel in varkala for solo travellers from my point of view, It very near to the beach, its clean and they also have very good common kitchen . And the best part is it’s very social and the host as very humble

Everything is amazing, the staff are very kind, helpful and the people who share the space. I met and made new friends. It was very much fun, there are events, games and common room where U can just chill and talk, unwind yourselves. I really enjoyed the activities, games, music and co-ordination. The home food was reasonably priced. A perfect place where you can blindly settle. The quotes, map and information available at reception is just wow & cool. I never lived in a place like this. Totally worth it for sure.

I had a beautiful stay at the hostel Stories. Was my first hostel in my life, and now after this stay I would rather go to a hostel, then book a room for myself. The rooms are fine, also the toilets are normal, outside and public space is beautiful. The personal is really kind and helpful, they set me up for India. Also the owner is just an amazing host. You should definitely take some time, sit down and listen to his travel stories. All in all nice. Would go again.

Hostel life depends verry much on the people that are staying at the same time with you. I did not really bond with them, it was some groups doing their own stuff. But the personal was so nice to include me in their evening chill out times;) So you can feel safe to go there and still connect with amazing people (hosts)

The Hostel is a social spot with different hangout areas, outdoors and indoors. Most people seem happy to chat and eat together. The owner went out of his way to help me out, which was really nice. It's close to the beach, the cliff and a lot of restaurants. I had the AC room, which was nice. In the beds you have a lamp and an adaptor plug, super handy.

I enjoyed my stay at Hostel Stories a lot! It's a super nice place, loved to hang out there, in the hammock, enjoying the shade, good music and chill vibes and maybe join a yoga class or activity. The beach is not far away just a few minute walk. The staff is very nice, extremely helpful, kind and everything was very clean. I've made some great friends during my stay, and the warmth of the people here has made this experience even more special. Whether you're looking to recharge or just connect with like-minded individuals, Hostel Stories, Varkala is an ideal choice. It's more than just a Hostel-it's a haven for the Soul.
