We liked the location and the aprtment had a great view and a fully equipped kitchen. Everything you need to cook was provided if you wanted to. The coffee machine was handy too.and netflix on tv was great. But no free to air tv channels available.

We felt the apartment was showing signs of wear and tear, and because of the big windows the apartment became very warm very quickly. there was no air-conditioning, so it was uncomfortable due to the fact the 2 big front windows were VERY heavy to open and only opened a fraction. (Not great for summmer) The cleaning was a bit grotty and we felt there was no little touches added Like soap? 1 washing machine tablet (really), cushions we're drab too. We alao felt there was no appropriate lighting for the common areas and the roof top was not attractive to sit in. Very basic.

Very spacious, well maintained and clean. The view from the very large windows overlooking the canal was simple beautiful. The location was a very easy walk to so many sites, doing and restaurants. Truly a great trip and the next time I travel to Leiden I will try to stay here again.

Location was good

Given the wrong code / key box and it was empty. Had to call a Dutch number 3 times and got charged for the phone calls. Stairway really dirty, rooms shabby and tired. It didn’t say the courtyard was shared, some knocked on our bedroom window looking for their room! Broken paving slabs, living room window cracked on arrival, kettle filthy. Over priced for low standard of accommodation.

Nur die Lage war gut.

1) sehr schwache Beleuchtung im Bad und im Schlafzimmer (das Lesen absolut nicht möglich) 2) sehr schmutzige Lampen über dem Esstisch 3) kaputte Nachtlampe 4) SEHR SCHMUTZIGE UND FÜRCHTERLICH STINKENDE SPÜLMASCHINE UND KÜHLSCHRANK 5) sehr dreckige Kaffeemaschine 6) das Bad auch nicht sauber, stinkende Waschmaschine 7) sehr schmutzige Fenster, die sich bei der Hitze nicht weit genug öffnen lassen 8. sehr steile und gefährliche Treppe, für ältere Menschen überhaupt nicht geeignet. Die Wohnung wurde offenbar überhaupt nicht gereinigt. Nur Wäschewechseln reicht gar nicht. Wir haben Fotos gemacht, aber wir wollen sie nicht teilen, da sie ekelhaft sind. Wenn der Betreiber es möchte, können wir sie teilen.

Große Räume (Küche und Wohnzimmer) mit tollem Blick zum Hafen. Terrasse zum draußen sitzen. Schlafzimmer verdunkelbar und kühl. Zentrale Lage um gut fußläufig alles zu erreichen. Bar/Lokal im Haus, falls man nicht noch lange laufen möchte um auszugehen.

Es wurde in den Räumen (bis auf das Schlafzimmer) tagsüber schon etwas warm. Lange Musik abends, durch ein gut besuchtes darunterliegendes Lokal. (Wo wir allerdings auch gern mal saßen :-) Das wussten wir aber vorher und waren dementsprechend vorbereitet (Ohropax)Deshalb kein Problem für uns.

Amazing location with a beautiful view. The apartment is spacious and stocked with everything you need. I will definitely consider staying again!

I was there during the summer just after a heatwave — it is a loft apartment which got quite warm. There was a fan to help cool it down, however. Also those who have difficulty with stairs should be warned: there are two very steep flights of stairs.

Horário e complicação de Check-in. Paga- se uma taxa para chegadas tardias. Os contactos são feitos por email. Em três dias não vimos ninguém. As escadas não são indicadas para crianças e pessoas com pouca mobilidade. Um problema com as malas. Casa muito quente para a época do ano. Na véspera da saída, enviaram um email com instruções para arrumação das roupas da cama, casa de banho e loiças da cozinha !? Além disso é sugerida uma nota (8) para classificarmos o estabelecimento no Booking.com !?

A pretty nice place for four people to stay.. A good view.

The stairs are very steep and high, and the treads are too narrow, making it very difficult to carry suitcases up and down. A small fan was provided but could not be used (it was broken).

Bei der Ankunft waren 41 Grad C im Appartment. Die Seile zu den Gegengewichten der großen Schiebefenster waren sämtlich gerissen. Um die Fenster hochzuschieben muss man daher überdurchschnittlich stark sein. Außerdem muss man vorher ein paar Kochtöpfe aus der Küche holen, um die Fenster einen Spalt offen fixieren zu können. Räume mit einer solchen Temperatur sind nicht für den Aufenthalt geeignet. Ein damit begründeter Rabatt auf den Übernachtungspreis wurde abgelehnt.

The location is excellent - view out of the window is great. Located on the quiet part of the centre - overlooking the water. This made it a great spot. The bar downstairs is great.

The lack of cleanliness - it needs a thorough clean throughout. The stairs are incredibly steep.

Perfect place to stay in such a beautiful city. Gorgeous apartment, very well located and comfortable. Incredibly obliging and friendly management always quick to respond and who very kindly granted us a late check out. Would absolutely return and recommend without hesitation. Plenty of space and amenities for 4 adults including surprisingly very comfortable sofa bed!

Nothing - it was perfect!

This apartment is in a fabulous location, with incredible views over the marina. We loved having a washing machine, a big living room and full kitchen, and a comfortable bed. Thankfully, the sofa bed was comfortable too.

We experienced loud music from the bar below on the Friday night into Saturday morning. It was so loud in the bedroom that we had to sleep in the living room on the sofa bed. A reading lamp for the other side of the bed would be perfect. Be aware, the steps to the apartment are extremely steep and narrow. There is a handrail on one side. This should be shown in photos on the booking website, as many people would not be able to manage them.

Best location in town. Ok for students.

Amenities were not well calculated. We stayed for 9 days, a tiny soap was available, no more than one tablet for the dishwasher, no instructions for disposing of the garbage. No cleaning in between. The rooms were not well ventilated and quite noisy at night.

Lots of people commented on the steep steps, this wasn't a surprise to us, as all stair cases are steep in old dutch buildings. The rooms were sparse yes, but large and we had everything we needed in terms of furniture and amenities.

We booked 2 apartments and one had a lovely view of the harbour and the other had a view of the road at the back. That was unexpected as the images look like they all overlook the harbour. The comms are curt and not very friendly - lots of rules, a small check in window (4-5.30pm of you get charged €10). But the main issue we had was the noise from the restaurant/venue below. On the first night (Thurs eve) there was a private party and the apartment above which my brother and his family with 9 yr old twins was practically shaking until 11pm. I asked at the bar and they said thats the only night there was a party on. So we gritted our teeth and got through that evening. But the next evening there was loud dance music coming from downstairs. I contacted the people we were in comms with re the apartement and they said they are not the same company and that Dutch law says loud music should be turned down by 11pm. I said this wasn't good enough and so they contacted the venue downstairs and after 2 attempts the music was lowered by 10.30pm. I'm detailing this, as some people wont mind this, but if you are sensitive to loud noises I think this would be useful to know. I wish I had known as I wouldnt have booked these apartments. Also the outside terrace wasnt well kept, a few plastic chairs and a bench, not very appealing to sit out on.

As the apartment was right above a restaurant/night club, things were pretty loud. Music played until around 1am each night. The water pressure in the shower wasn't great.

The location of the apartment was perfect. There was a bus stop nearby, and we could also go walking to the center as well as the train station. The view from the apartment was beautiful, especially at Christmas.

De omgeving, de ligging is fantastisch

De temperatuur bij aankomst was 10 graden binnen en het duurde dat ver in de avond om het warm te krijgen. Daarnaast was de slaapbank ver onder de maat, ronduit pijnlijk om op te liggen en aan vervanging toe. Er zit een kuil in. Voor dit geld verwacht je op z’n minst comfortabele bedden. Daarnaast knipperde er de hele nacht een keukenkastlampje, waar we uiteindelijk ergens hoog achterin een kast er de stekker van uit hebben getrokken. In de badkamer oogt de radiator verroest en deze kan zeker een likje verf gebruiken. De meubels doen erg studentikoos aan.

Leuke ligging boven een geweldig restaurant, met zicht op het haventje. Perfecte plek, je bent direct in het centrum. Aangename locatie.

De Volharding exceeded all my expectations. The view of the harbor is absolutely beautiful and gave my stay a calm, welcoming atmosphere. The owners are genuinely kind, positive and incredibly helpful, and their attitude makes a huge difference. I felt taken care of from the moment I arrived. The rooms are spotless and comfortable, and the whole place has a warm feeling that makes it easy to relax. I will definitely stay here again whenever I return to the city. Highly recommended 🦢

De locatie was top, maar daar is ook alles mee gezegd.

toen we aankwamen was het 10 graden in het appartement. Ook had ik het idee dat er 2 slaapkamers waren en dit was niet zo. de slaapbank kraakte enorm en je lag niet recht maar in een s-vorm. Daarnaast was het appartement niet schoon, maar erg stoffig. Vind ik erg matig voor 500 euro voor 2 nachten. Toen we belden waren ze ook niet erg klantvriendelijk.

Perfecte locatie

Bij aankomst werkte de bel niet, we moesten eerst bellen naar de verhuurder om binnen te komen. Eenmaal binnen was er geen werkende verlichting dus was het lastig om via trap en buitenterras onze entree te vinden. Op het eerste gezicht was alles netjes en schoon, bij nader inzien was de rand van de douche bak vies en de bakjes in de besteklade hebben duidelijk een schoonmaakbeurt nodig. Kapstokhaakjes hangen zo hoog dat we er niet bij konden komen. Al met al kan het appartement wel een opfrisbeurt gebruiken.

You really can't beat the views at this location! The sunset each night over the boats was stunning. The place was clean, with lots of room to spread out (we are a family of 3). The bathroom was large and the shower had good pressure. The beds were comfy, even the sofa bed! It was nice to have access to a roof top patio and we couldn't hear the neighbours at all. You could not hear the restaurant downstairs either (the loudest part being when they put the furniture away at night). We kept the windows open during our stay and it was just a nice quiet chatter of friendly conversation from below. It was far enough away from downtown that the neighbourhood seemed quiet, but close enough to walk to everything!

This was a bare bones apartment. It could have used some throw blankets, pillows and another seating option in the living room to make it feel more cozy. As well, the stairs are very steep (no elevator). This was not an issue, just be forewarned. Having said that, I would absolutely stay here again! We loved it.

Apartament nr 3D duży, ale ciemny z mautkimi kompletnie nieszczelnymi i brudnymi oknami od strony portu - wiatr przez nie dmuchał, a w kuchni dodatkowo przelatywał przez nie deszcz. Apartament trudno dostępny - nie dla ludzi starszych lub mniej sprawnych - 2 x bardzo strome i bardzo płytkie schody, w tym te od głównych drzwi wejściowych bez ŻADNEGO (dzialajacego) oświetlenia. W apartamencie w momencie przyjazdu nie działało główne oświetlenie sypialni, łazienki oraz oświetlenie blatu w aneksie kuchennym. Bardzo miły serviceman naprawił jedynie oświetlenie w sypialni. Nie działa również domofon i dzwonek do drzwi. Kuchnia słabo wyposażona w naczynia, brak kieliszków do wina, ale jest ekspress do kawy i 2 kapsułki z kawą na 5 dni pobytu. W łazience nie ma ani jednego miejsca do odwieszenia ręcznika, albo szlafroka, z prysznica woda ledwie odpływa, okno połaciowe ekstremalnie brudne, zapas szamponu pod prysznic na 2-ie kompiele, ale jest pralka. Die Lage ist toll, sehr zentral und man hatte einen phänomenalen Ausblick auf den Hafen.

Undoubtfully the location is exceptional - just outside the city center, so only some hundreds of meters to get in the center, still far from the big hassle. The view onto the small harbor is also great

The cleanliness could be enhanced a lot and the water was difficult to drain from both the sink and the shower.

Fantastische ligging en lekker dicht bij het centrum met uitzicht op de haven.

We had a nice stay. It's a great location, although we were a little bit disappointed not to have a room facing the harbour.

The only thing I would say is that the staircase could do with a good clean, especially the stair railing which is very sticky. We avoided putting our hands on it.

Some upgrades are needed to the property, windows do not open properly , air con as it can get very hot due to the large number of windows.

Koffiezetapparaat deed het niet. Douche en wastafel liep het water niet door. En wel jammer dat je maar 1 toilet rol krijgt voor 4 personen.

It was very noisy (street noise and restaurant below [which is great with lovely staff]) at night. Ok once we had ear plugs but we struggled to sell much the first night without.

Closer to everything, was clean and provided a voucher for free coffee in the restaurant below :) Very happy with our stay. Hosts super helpful and patient when it come to booking issues.

Needs a better cooling system - the mini fan provided isn’t too great but better than nothing for on the top floor

The location is astonishing, apartments were really nice with a great terrace, really easy walk to the city centre. Apartments were nicely decorated, and the view of the little port is the highlight.

Some bed could have been a bit more comfortable

Check-in was seamless. The instructions from the host were clear and made the whole process smooth and stress-free. The apartment itself was fantastic... comfortable, clean, but the highlight was definitely the deck overlooking the canal. It was the perfect spot for morning coffee or winding down in the evening, watching boats drift by. The restaurant just downstairs was a gem. Great food, friendly service, and incredibly convenient after a long day exploring. You really can’t beat the location.

Not a complaint, but for awareness: I rang the wrong doorbell on the side street, not realizing our door was less than a meter from the restaurant entrance.

The location was amazing. The views were fantastic. The balcony was so relaxing to sit in and watch the boats go by.

I didn't like that there were only 2 toilet paper rolls. We had to buy more of course. I didn't like that the only garbage bag was a shopping bag. I was not going to buy garbage bags on my vacation.

The location was perfect. It was very clean and perfect for our stay. Loved the new restaurant down below!

We would have loved to have had 2 true bedrooms. We had a sleeper sofa and 1 bedroom.

Everything very impersonal, no human contact. Dishwasher and washing machine pads, toilet paper, coffee, tea and sugar only for 2 days in front of 5 nights of staying. Why to be so greed?

Good location, access to the communal terrace and the view across the marina were good.

Very small bedroom - ok for a couple but as a twin it was cramped. An additional mirror would have been useful.

It was loud, we were totally fine with it but if someone is sensitive you might want to pick another location.

The location and views are beautiful, looking out over the canal and harbour in the East of Leiden. The building is interesting and has a lot of character. We ended up downstairs in the restaurant and bar on a few evenings, great food and drinks, although quite expensive. The apartment was sufficient for our family of four, and is updated, very high ceilings and huge windows looking out over the harbour. We were out a lot so just used the apartment as a place to sleep. We booked the one bedroom apartment and so my husband and I slept on the sofa bed, which was not very comfortable, compared to our bed at home, but it was okay. We were able to log in to our Netflix account and watch a couple of movies in the evening, once the kids were in bed. It took us a couple of days to work out that the oven is actually a combination oven/microwave oven. It would be helpful if you provided a folder to explain this. Very steep and narrow stairs to get up to the first floor. We managed fine with this, but I think some unfit people may struggle. When we arrived, it was a very sunny warm afternoon and the blinds were all open, so the temperature in the apartment was 38 degrees centigrade and we couldn’t open the windows. So keep the blinds closed on sunny afternoons. We managed to work out how to open one window in the kitchen by about half a foot, but it took two of us to open it, very heavy old windows.

Great facilities, large rooms, beautiful views.

It was a shame about the loud music from the restaurant below which went on until after midnight. This was the only downside of the property.

There was construction going on underneath and they were painting everything.

I was in contact with the hosts and they made everything easy. Entry to the apartment was well-organized and my family and I were very comfortable in the apartment. The views were wonderful, we spent a long time just gazing at the harbour scenes. I have stayed at de Volharding three times now and will continue to do so. Dank u vel!

The view from the apartment over the harbor is fantastic

The location is awesome. Just by a pretty canal, and close to the city centre. The studio has everything you need, it is of a good size and the views are great (I stayed on the top floor).

It is not a hotel, there is no staff around if you need anything. You can contact them by email and will probably need to wait until the next day to get something sorted.
