National 9 Motel

Victor, I'm guessing who is the owner, was very accommodating and gracious when I checked in.

I know this is a policy for a lot of the hotels in Santa cruz, but I arrived at 11:30 am but couldn't check in until after 3:00 p.m.

This place has been our go to for visiting our UCSC Banna Slug. It’s not amazing, but it’s clean, comfortable, consistent, and reasonable.

A/C was loud but very effective, so we turned it on for a time then kept it off.

I had private space, room was nice size and clean, ac worked decent

My room was the cleanest room I've ever been in! And I have traveled a lot!!! And Kim the owner along with her husband (sorry did not catch his name) were the sweetest, kindest, lovely people!!! Highly recommend! Except for noise and the location is kind of crummy, but a cute park around the corner helped!!!

The beds were to hard

The National 9 is a simple, 2-star motel, but it was exceptionally clean and in a very convenient location. I liked that it was away from the grunginess of downtown and there was a walkable neighborhood and park adjacent. It is always close to the highway so easy to get to the Santa Cruz mountains or other areas. What really made my stay memorable, though, was the hospitality of the owner, Kim. She was incredibly warm, welcoming, and accommodating—the kind of genuine, personal hospitality that is so rare these days. It made the experience feel more like staying with a gracious host than at a motel. I would happily stay here again.

The plug in. I have an allergy to these. It was unnecessary as the room was clean and fresh without it.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The location is excellent, making it very convenient to explore the area. The cleanliness was impeccable, and everything was very well maintained. The price offers excellent value for money, making it a great choice for anyone looking for quality accommodation at a fair cost. The staff was always cordial, respectful, and willing to help, which made my experience even more enjoyable. I highly recommend this hotel and would definitely stay here again. The rooms were very clean. The beds and pillows were SOO comfy. I had my first full night of sleep in weeks on that bed. The staff is super friendly and helpful. I thought it was pet friendly, but it wasn't. They were very kind and understanding about it.

The bottom sheet was folded in a little too short, so it didn't cover the foot of the bed. My mom mentioned it and they hopped right on it!

I loved the bathroom and the location of entering Santa Cruz and the hotel was right there, especially after a long drive.

Room was clean, queen beds were comfortable. Kim and Victor Patel were very kind. Both of them would make terrific soldiers for Jesus Christ who died for our sins and was buried and resurrected 3 days later (1 Cor 15:3-4)

Excellent bed and mattress support, which greatly alleviated the pain I suffer due to sciatica in my lower spine. Very clean and quiet room.

Very affordable and the rooms were clean. Its 5 mins from downtown santa Cruz.

There was a bit of a homeless population nearby. But they did not give us any issue.

My husband and I always stay here when on vacation, and I stay here when on business. The grounds are immaculate, the pool sparkling and the rooms are clean. It is a well lit, safe environment with a fenced parking area near the rooms. The staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful. The WiFi is average - no complaints. I usually just tether my iPad to my phone. Large nice TV, I don’t watch a lot of TV, but certainly could if I didn’t have work to do. The beds and pillows are comfortable and the bedding is clean. The location is excellent. Easy to get in and out of, and is right by the Freeway entrance. There is a Denny’s right across the street and other restaurants and businesses down the street a short distance. Having an iron and ironing board in the room is great when here on business. It’s very handy to touch up wrinkled clothing before a meeting. I travel a lot and I always look forward to staying at this National 9 Motel. I can wholeheartedly recommend it.

Staff was very friendly, room was clean and even smelled good. Property is on the edge of town. Quiet room. Very pleasant. Room rates were lower than others and the room was worthy.

Small parking lot. Room for one car per room. We had 2 vehicles coming from different directions. Found street parking for the 2nd car.

Affordable without compromise on many things.

They charged me and stole from me . Man with an accent was rude and disgusting!

That they stole and charged my debit card when I never even stayed there. They are thieves!

Room was clean and organized. Staff was nice enough to let us stay one hour past check out which was really nice.

The bed was okay, not too comfortable but not bad as well.

The room was well organized and well-equipped. The walls were soundproofed, at least side to side; I heard people come in the door next to me but then heard nothing after that. Bed very comfortable.

The smell of the cleaning supplies was very strong; I had to open the door and window to air out. The heater is loud, but that's not surprising. There were no extra blankets and the one on the bed was very thin.

The location made it somewhat difficult to get to the hotel. The TV lacked channels and was slow to respond when looking for different channels. The hotel provided shampoo and soaps were small and the shampoo packets were difficult to open, especially when in the shower! Avoid room 111 as the ice machine is right outside the window and is very noisy. The property seems overpriced for what you get.

Staff were very friendly, very helpful as well. Property was a basic motel, but everything was clean and it felt very homelike due to the staff. Room was fair sized with two queen beds. Very walkable to downtown Santa Cruz (boardwalk was 1.8 miles away). This is a family owned establishment, the daughter of the owners was working through my stay and helped us to book another night at a very fair rate for the time we booked. Would recommend for anybody who is on a budget and wanted to feel safe and taken care of.
