Holiday Surf Hotel (with full kitchen)

The room was very roomy and clean cold ac and just very homey. Quiet to where we had no problems with noise. We like it a lot, the staff was very nice and welcoming.

Just having to wait for 2 hours to check in was a little bit of a hassle but we got over it and waited patiently.

I was extremely impressed at the value I received for the money I paid. So extra clean and comfortable, the room came with everything I could possibly need to enjoy my short stay on the island. Microwave stove full size refrigerator very comfortable bed and a balcony that I thoroughly enjoyed relaxing on Sunday morning. The location for me could not have been better. About a 5-minute barefooted walk to the dive shop and I was diving the wrecks and reef of Oahu. Pat the manager was more than accommodating and offering to meet any requests or needs I may have, but all the bases were covered. This place is surely a hidden gem in Honolulu.

Great location: you have the canal view overlooking the river from one side of the windows and are only a few blocks away from Waikiki Beach and major shopping malls. Morning walk is peaceful. All facilities are functional.

Utility can be a little outdated, but that is expected and part of the charm.

The location is really good. Walking distance to the famouse beach. A lot of shopping and eating facilities nearby.

The property manager said that the hotel check-in is only by oppointment. I had some delay on my car rental process, which made me worry about the check-in. When I arrived (a little late), nobody is there. I rang the bell (also can make a phone call), and after about 5 mins, the owner showed up and assisted on check-in. I hope the manager can give the phone or bell as an option in advance so that guests don't need to worry about being late. The room is kind of messy. Too much stuff. The sofa is somewhere nobody goes to. Maybe the building needs to be renovated.

Struttura priva di qualsiasi servizio al cliente. c'è una macchinetta all'ingresso della struttura, è veramente assurdo per il pezzo che si paga Personale inesistente. Fate attenzione se ritardate di qualche minuto il tempo di check-in, vi vengono addebitati 50$ senza storie. È assurdo in quanto i 50$ sono regalati, oltre ad un prezzo ingiustificabile che già viene pagato per la stanza. Ci sono tante alternative in zone che fanno un livello molto più alto di servizio.

The hotel was clean, staff friendly and helpful. We were able to check in early without any additional fee. Location was convenient. We were able to take the bus from the airport to hotel, and from hotel to cruise ship port. Beds and pillows are comfy. Price was Awesome!

Windows are old single pane slat windows that crank open; so it can be noisy at night, but the AC unit drowned out the noise. And when the afternoon sun shines it can be hot, but the thick curtains kept the room cool. There is not a 24 hr front desk, but Ring camera to contact the staff; which worked well for us.

This was actually our third time staying here, and it has officially become our absolute go-to accommodation in Honolulu. We love it so much that we will easily be back for a 4th, 5th, 6th, (or more) times. Whether you’re traveling solo, as a couple, or in a group, this place offers the absolute best value for your money. Location & Deck: The location is perfect—situated in a quieter part of central Waikiki, just a 10-minute walk to the beach, restaurants, and Target. Our room had a great deck that easily fits two chairs and overlooks the canal, which is essential for drying our togs and swim gear. Room & Self-Catering: The spacious "mini-apartment" style room has fast Wi-Fi and a full kitchen. Self-catering saved us a ton of cash, leaving more money for island activities. You can feel the family pride here; they are gradually upgrading the property with new laminate flooring, double glazing, and great new AC units. Service & Pricing: There are no hidden resort fees—what you see is what you pay. While the front desk isn't manned and you must book a check-in time, communication is flawless. The owner and staff are incredibly nice, responsive, and provide free beach gear like towels and umbrellas. Good to Know: If you want to lounge by a resort pool, this isn't for you. On-site parking is a lifesaver but requires an extra fee and spaces are tight. The beds are a comfortable medium-firm with great pillows. Pots and pans are provided, but remember to bring your own basic pantry items like salt, pepper, and coffee!

There was nothing that we didn't like and it ticks all our boxes for what we look for in Hawaii accommodation.

our flight was delayed due to weather in Hawaii so we arrived late, and we were charged a large fee for arriving late. Usually, weather is considered beyond our control, so this was a very frustrating way to start.

Fast wifi with no connection issues. We had the checkin appointment at 8PM but our plans changed and we got there earlier and forgot to inform in advance. We called the guy and he was kind enough to get to the hotel as fast as possible (it took him 30 min). Much appreciated. The location was perfect for us.

Convenient location, walking distance to the main drag in Waikiki. Very clean, and the cleaning lady was very nice. Nice view from the balcony of the canal and mountains. Also nice to have dedicated on site parking.

The mattress is very firm and springy, also only one chair to relax in aside from the kitchen table. Wasn't very comfortable for working.

L'hôtel est bien placé, près du cœur de Waikiki. Les chambres sont biens et avec une cuisine équipée. Il est possible de se faire prêter des équipements pour la plage gratuitement. Le tarif est plutôt bon Waikiki.

Les lits doubles sont vraiment petits pour des lits doubles et ne sont pas très confortables. Il y a souvent du bruit dans la nuit. La climatisation fait beaucoup trop de bruit donc ce n'est pas possible de l'activer pendant la nuit. D'une manière générale, nous avons mal dormi à cause de tout cela.

The location was optimal - 10mins to the beach and really close to restaurants and bars. There are also multiple convenience stores and target close by so one can buy all the essentials you needed. The room came with a balcony with a nice view of the river. It has all the basic amenities and a large fridge. Check-in was fast and easy.

Location location location!

The hotel was slightly below the expectations but mostly in the aesthetic sense. Some furniture could be upgraded. Anyhow, everything was functional, including the rather noisy AC.

Ottima posizione a 5 min a piedi dalla spiaggia e da Kalakaua Avenue, la via delle griffe a Waikiki. Ancora più vicina a negozi e ristoranti di ogni genere. Pulizia, la cucinetta in camera è molto comoda. Doppio letto queen. Rapporto qualità/ prezzo eccellente.

Particolare la gestione dell'ospite, con orari e regole non comuni, comunque nessun problema. Il livello della camera è proporzionato al prezzo. Zona rumorosa, isolamento basso, ma è molto comune a Waikiki.

Staff was very accommodating. Changed towels when requested and other times as well. Got our group a new room right away when the air conditioning didn't work in one room and couldn't be repaired. Loaned out items for us to use at the beach. Appreciated having a kitchen and a laundry on site. Although we did a lot of driving to other locations on the island, if you want places to eat, shop, and go to the beach within walking distance, it's great.

We paid an additional fee for parking for two cars, but spots are not assigned, so sometimes a small car would park in a big space and we had to try to squeeze our van into a very narrow spot. Fortunately, we had enough people to help us guide our vehicles into the tight spaces, but it took lots of maneuvering. However, there was rarely ever one street spot open, so we were glad to have a space.

The road noise and lack of basic kitchen items such as a kettle, dish washing detergent and spare pillows and towels in the room. The air conditioner was very noisy.

It was close to everything, and the parking location under the building was so convenient. They provided amenities, even umbrellas. Great and very nice restaurants are nearby, so basically in the center of Waikiki. We had a few questions and were able to quickly reach the owner. If we come back to Honolulu, I’m sure we will stay here again - best value for your money.

None, everything was perfect

Good overall, I liked everything — solid and understated. Convenient location. If you came just to relax on the beach, sunbathe, and walk around the main streets, it’s ideal in terms of price, quality, comfort, and location balance. Parking, like everywhere, is expensive but still manageable, though it’s tight. I had a great view from the window.

The localization is perfect close of everything. And the price and the mini appt is cool. You have everything just ask (beach towel, umbrella..)

the noise during the night really disturb our sleeping time. and the non fresh smell inside the room is another issue bother us. if add one more uncomfortable issue is the out dated and noisy air conditioner.

I don’t think they have ac in the building because outside of the room is so hot; didnt clean our room in one of the days we were there so no clean towels for a day and a half; some of the towels had some yellow stain; a little outdated

- recepcja jest tylko i wyłącznie na umówioną godzinę co jest absurdalne, żeby się zameldować trzeba umówić się na konkretną godzinę -późna godzina meldowania wymaga dopłaty około 45 USD

Lack of parking. Also lack of flexibility with check in. You’re required to make a specific appointment time to check in but oftentimes you don’t know what time you are coming. Most hotels have 24 hour check in and you can come anytime after the check in time.

The view from our room was amazing. We looked out to the mountains and the channel on the island. The Waikiki beach and the main shopping street was a 2 min walk. Parking was in the basement on property which made it very convenient to get your car in and out. Great staff and they offer a lot of other amenities like umbrellas for the beach, car seats etc. Please call them if you have any questions. Great little family owned gem of a place which deserves more credit than its given on google. The room also featured a full kitchen which let us save a lot on our food costs.

I reserved Holliday Surf hotel based of kitchen because I am traveling with my family. The room was decent for us, had a full kitchen with pots and utensils. Room had a double queen bed and bed frame was so comfortable to sleep.

Upon arrival, we were exhausted after a 24-hour journey, and the room didn’t initially live up to the expectations set by the photos. However, the longer we stayed, the more we grew to appreciate the helpful staff, the daily housekeeping with fresh towels, and the fantastic location—right in the heart of the Waikiki buzz and just a short walk from the beach.

The hotel is located on a busy main road, and the traffic never truly dies down. You will definitely need earplugs for a good night’s sleep. Additionally, if you are traveling from Europe, be prepared for a different standard of cleanliness; however, it is something you eventually get used to.

We truly enjoyed our stay at Holiday Surf Hotel. I traveled with my 16-year-old daughter and we stayed for nine nights. The location is perfect — close to everything in Waikiki, including the beach, restaurants, and shops. The hotel was very clean and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We arrived early and were pleasantly surprised that our room was ready right away. On our departure day, the staff also kindly allowed us to check out at 12 instead of 11, which helped a lot since our flight was at 3 pm. Our room was cleaned every day and the towels were replaced daily, which we really appreciated. The staff was friendly and accommodating, and the whole experience felt easy and comfortable.

The only small thing we noticed was the curtains. They are big and heavy and a little hard to open. It might be nice if they were replaced with two separate curtains so the window could open fully. Sound-proof and blackout curtains would also be a great improvement. But honestly, this is a very minor detail compared to the overall great experience.

Das Preis Leistungsverhältnis in Kombination mit der Lage sind sehr gut, Das Zimmer war groß, wir hatten sogar einen kleinen Balkon zur Straßenseite. In 5-7 min waren wir zu Fuß am Waikiki beach. Das Hotel ist ok aber bei weitem nicht so gut wie es bewertet ist.

Achtung die vielen 10er Bewertungen stammen daher, dass der Besitzer einen Discount für den Parkplatz gibt gegen eine 10 Sterne Bewertung! Die Fenster haben keine Schallisolierung, vor allem am WE fahren viele laute Autos mit Musik und teils kleinen Straßenrennen am Hotel vorbei. Die Klimaanlage ist so laut dass sie vor allem nachts den Autos Konkurrenz macht.

Amazing location and value a very short walking distance to the beach in downtown Waikiki. Hotel is also close to bus stops for getting around the city. Room is clean, spacious, and the kitchen is very well equipped with a full sized refrigerator, which will definitely save you money on meals.

This can be a noisy spot if you like to sleep with your window open and your room is right on the road because the traffic doesn't settle down until late (it also picks up again pretty early). I'm a pretty sound sleeper but even I needed to sleep in earplugs for this; the hotel did say that they have sound machines but I never picked one up.

The room, hotel and management were great. This is a family-owned and family-run hotel. The reason for two stars is most likely that it is older than many hotels (they are updating the rooms), and they do not have a restaurant, bar or pool. But It was perfect for 3 of us looking for a clean room, beds, a kitchen without those "luxuries." The two rooms were nice for 3 of us, like an apartment. The kitchen was stocked with dishes and appliances, pots and pans. It's a 5-story hotel -- we could walk up and down but the elevator worked fine -- in the midst of tall condo's and hotels. They have done a great job decorating with a blue color theme. The room air conditioner and wi fi worked fine. We got towels from the hotel for going to the beach. They had chairs and others things to take to the beach but we did not avail ourselves of them. Though not a 24 hour front desk, the manager was very nice, very helpful and accessible. The location was a block from bus lines (excellent bus system in Honolulu -- including to and from the airport), along with grocery stores and many restaurants. It's a few more blocks further to the beach. Parking is available for a fee at the hotel, but Waikiki is very walkable.

One of us said the bed was on the hard side, but this is a matter of preference. The other two of us were fine with the bed. The coffee maker was old, not the greatest. one floor was being modernized, but it presented no inconvenience.
