We ate dinner and breakfast and the food was fantastic. The service was exceptional, they couldn’t do enough for you. We will be staying here again same time next year.
Nothing. Although extend the wifi into the garden.

Classic great English country pub. Great food, lovely location, good room and super outside seating area. Good beer too! We were made very welcome and loved our stay at The Dog. We will return. Thanks to everyone.
Staff were amazing and it’s just a lovely place

Pub is situated in nice countryside and the room was very comfortable.
Nothing to not like!
Location
A little noisy below the room from 6.30am and quiet expensive
Fantastic location, great staff and food. Breakfast is great
This property was adorable. Located in a quiet spot off the M6. Its quirky, set out with pictures, soft furnishings and lovely flowers.
Nothing it was great.
Breakfast was amazing. Loved the conmfy room and lovley outdoor bar area. Staff were amazing very friendly.
I think it was a little on the pricey side but overall was a great experience.
Breakfast fantastic! Bar staff fantastic!
A hand held shower fitting as well as an overhead fitting
Rooms were good size, bed very comfortable , room was clean. Modern room and bathroom. Staff very good.
Little overpriced for one night stay but overall good experience would stay again
Lovely location- quiet during the night- used to having guests from nearby wedding venues - so easy to check in and no issues - near to Merrydale Manor Nice breakfast using local produce
Nothing - other than a bit expensive but
Such ride fly and helpful staff
Unfortunate we were staying a World Cup evening. No issues with the match and lovely to see so many people enjoying themselves but the inside transmission and music were unnecessarily loud.
The outdoor bar and seating area.

Beautiful location, great service, all you could ask for
Nothing really
Great little place to stay. The pub looked really lovely and if we weren't at a wedding it would've been a lovely place for food and drink!

Very friendly, relaxed and welcoming and just what we need when we're on the road for work. Lovely landlady and very homely but professional place
Nothing really!
The breakfast was fantastic. Particularly the sausages. So tasty
I loved everything. Nothing could have been better
Lovely place and very helpful staff
Lovely location and helpful staff. Good restaurant.
Kitchen extractor fan from the restaurant was quite noisy.
Good location.. nice garden/outside area. Rooms clean although a little snug.
Plug points all inaccessible in the rooms
We like everything about the Dog. Staff position, facilities, room, restaurant etc. Our second stay within a few minths
Breakfast was very good with plenty of choice . Evening meal was excellent but took a long time to come ,it was Saturday so very busy .
nothing not to like
Lovely pub, rooms really comfortable and bed was great. Staff all helpful.
I guess it’s business - but £50 extra when they know there’s a wedding on nearby. Rooms a room right.
A very nice hotel, serving the local wedding venue we were attending - well decorated, comfortable rooms, nice restaurant / bar / country pub feel

Very clean and comfortable and lovely breakfast
Would be good idea to have a light come on at front door Took ages to find where the key hole was to get in after attending a wedding
Stunning location, stylish and clean rooms, lovely friendly lady at breakfast- very kind and attentive. But if a last minute thing to break my journey back to London in the heat and now I've discovered it will be back again!
There was nothing I didn't like
Breakfast was the best we had on our travels through the UK.
Stairs up to room were a little narrow :-)
Very comfortable room, good food and excellent service
Welcoming staff, plenty of parking, pretty location, good breakfast.
Location. Style Cleanliness
Zeer vriendelijk personeel
Prachtige kamer
The facilities were very well presented and the staff went above and beyond…

Fantastic staff and great pub
Rooms maybe ready for some small TLC but overall ok.

An absolute gem, great beer garden. Excellent staff very friendly and welcoming. Room as with the rest of the property finished to a high standard and spotless.
Nothing
Great supportive and friendly staff .
Little bit out in the countryside but it was a late booking - which the staff accommodated brillantly.
The breakfast was superb, everything cooked to perfection, piping hot and local sourced. The Sourdough toast was a delight.
Nothing at all springs to mind.
The hotel was very dog-friendly, with exceptional staff, great food, comfortable rooms, and a convenient location.
Nothing!
We stopped over at this hotel en route between Edinburgh and Southampton. It's deep in the countryside and yet close to the M6. We arrived on a lovely sunny evening. The outdoor bar was in full swing. We took our dog for a walk and then had a beer and dinner. The food was fabulous. Our room was very comfortable and so quiet in the night! The staff were all really nice and very good at their jobs.
Our bedroom carpet had a few stains on it; other than that, nothing!
Food fabulous and location excellent
Mirrors in bedroom not suitable for ladies especially when getting ready for wedding. The manager very kindly found a mirror for me to use.
Breakfast was lovely. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Room was lovely.
The orange juice at breakfast was cordial I would have expected fresh orange juice . The bed was a little hard and the hallway light kept coming on during the night.
The location was superb. The staff were welcoming and the actual pub was stunning.
I found the food to be very poor. The taste and quality let it down. Considering the price charged I would have expected it to have been far more of a higher standard.
The staff The parking Food excellent Room Breakfast best ever 10/10
Small amount of toiletries
Beautiful room, lovely pub and excellent staff
Nothing wrong
Fabulous room, clean and staff were amazing. Breakfast was good quality.
Nothing
Wonderful pub, good food, beautiful setting and comfy beds
For the price the rooms were in need of a little TLC ( they are nicely decorated but quite a few marks on walls, carpets, bathrooms had seen better days) No toiletries ( I had 2 tiny bottles - both different brands - one had been used so presume left by previous occupant) or robes - at over £200 per room per night it would really be expected as would a coffee machine. We stay in a lot of good hotels with a similar rate where these things are standard. However breakfast was good, most of the staff were very helpful despite it being very busy in the pub. Quite a bit of noise until all the residents had come into their rooms but bed was comfy and it’s a lovely outlook.
Nice Property. My family member had a horrendous room with back up sewer and had to move to colshaw pod away from our wedding party
My family was separated
Very welcoming staff. Most helpful. Beautifully decorated, comfortable bed/room. Meals, amazing!! Ample parking

Great staff. Great place. Staff could not do enough too help. Will be going back.
10am check out. Not good if you're going to a venue. As you could be over the alcohol limit for the drive home. Recommend paying for the late checkout.
great choice and staff very friendly
nothing
The staff were super friendly and super helpful and the room was good - great to be able to hop downstairs for hearty pub food and of course breakfast was the icing on the cake!
We found the light level in the room too low for reading a magazine - had to use the phone torch - but probably our age! Also, the room was very hot for us even after turning off the radiator and opening the window.
Great atmosphere lovely bedroom and bar
Could do with new mattress
Nice staff and very clean food looked lovely
Nothing really
Great location close to the venue in which we attended a wedding, loverly staff at the Dog, we had a meal and breakfast, food was locally sourced and very good, big thumbs up to the Dog 👍

The location, comfort and atmosphere
This is a very minor thing but we could hear the bass from the music being played in the bar, even though the music was not loud.
Welcoming, warm, friendly staff. Traditional country pub ambience. The rooms had everything needed. They were luxurious and spacious. Food choice and quality was amazing. Will definitely visit again.
I could not fault it at all.
Good breakfast
At close on £200 this was equivalent to a four star hotel but not for a rural pub with limited facilities The bathroom heating was totally inadequate
On line
Shower wasn’t great and would have liked a window covering in the bathroom
Nice bar and dining area, comfortable bed and room.
Comfortable bed ,large room. Quite overlooking fields food was amazing, especially the breakfast
Alittle bit pricey for the room we stayed 2 nights as was attending a family wedding
This is my second visit this year and I was made to feel very welcome again. Evening meal was excellent and friends who joined me for the evening meal were also impressed. Looking forward to staying again when I’m in the area on my next walking adventure.
Beautiful location and absolutely stunning accomodation. Food delightful and breakfast delicious
It was all amazing
The Dog was really welcoming and Cosy. It’s location was just down the road from Jodrel Bank where we going to see the radio telescope.
The traffic!!
Themed rooms, well appointed, truly great staff, excellent food, great value stay
We were attending a wedding but had a quick bite to eat late afternoon. The restaurant was busy but we were prioritised for a table. Breakfast was yummy
