Location
Tired and miserable in need of a significant refurb.
Everything . Perfect location . Dana who greeted us was such a lovely guy. Very helpful. A great personality & couldn’t do enough for us. The room Aa gorgeous with Great Lake views. The spa, sauna & swimming pool were immaculate. Great size pool & once again tte staff were so lovely. The restaurants & bars were beautiful & the food was amazing. Fir us the best hotel in tye Lake District . Already booked again for my birthday next year.
Nothing
Breakfast was included and was very nice. The restaurant was very good.
The music playlist in the restaurant was a wee bit annoying.
Nice place nice staff
Needs a good upgrade and clean.
pool was ok.
Unfortunately, our stay was very disappointing, especially when travelling with young children. Despite the restaurant not being busy, we were refused a restaurant booking and room service. Given the hotel's remote location and the lack of nearby dining options at night, this left us with very few alternatives. The room itself was uncomfortable. It was excessively hot, the beds were extremely hard, and the toilet seat was broken. These maintenance and comfort issues significantly affected our stay. Breakfast was also poorly managed. Food items frequently ran out and were not replenished promptly, with staff appearing unconcerned about shortages. To make matters worse, we were charged extra for what appeared to be a basic breakfast, despite breakfast being included in our room rate. Overall, the combination of poor service, inadequate facilities, and unexpected charges made this a frustrating experience. I would not recommend this property to families with young children.
Staff were friendly and helpful. Nice atmosphere. Great pool area.
No robes in rooms unless booked through a certain company now. The breakfast offering has changed to all self service. The vent in the bathroom was barely visible due to dust.
Location was lovely but not taken advantage of. Evening meal was very good.
Staff didn't seem to be bothered except the lovely lady in the bar at night, all staff should be more like her. Everything felt tired and there was no direction with furniture/decor. Room for £219 was a big disappointment. Bed wasn't very comfy but the room was clean.
Weak WiFi
Breakfast was shocking. Cold. Little choice. Not enough !
Sunday roast was great. Spa dated. Decor in hotel in dire need of facelift
The location was beautiful
It was very dated for the price
Hotel a bit tired. Our original room was very dark but asked for different room which was loads better. Bathroom could have been cleaner
Location was good.
Shower was too hot. The rooms was not clean and there was a strange smell.
Clean and staff very helpful
The shower could have been better
Nothing to like about this hotel
The room was filthy, carpet torn, filthy windows, etc.
The welcome was lovely. Everyone was very welcoming and friendly. The room was a nice and big, with tea and coffee making facilities and a lovely view of the river. The food was amazing, dinner was very reasonbly priced for the quality. It was very tasty, and the restaurant and bar staff were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast had everything you could want, and although it was a buffet everything was hot. I am looking forward to returning.
The bath / shower was quite high to get in, as I am not too steady on my feet I didn't even attempt it, but my friend who is very fit commented how difficult it was to get out of the shower. For future visits I will request an easy access room, although just a couple of handles on the walls would have made it better. The steam train statiion to Windermere Lake is only a short walk away, and the bus stop was near.
The breakfast was lovely , and the staff were so friendly . Nothing was too much trouble , you only had to ask . Would defintley recommend a stay at Whitewater . The views around the hotel are beautiful .
There was nothing we didnt like . The Hotel decor and furnishings could do with been spruced up a little . The staff and scenery made up for that discrepency though .
The staff were super friendly and went above and beyond to ensure my mums 80th birthday bash was amazing 👏
No complaints
Lovely building and location
Needs updated inside and outside
The position where is next to river we had river views staff polite breackfast was plenty .
We liked everything.
It was situated in a good place
Looked as if it could do with a updated decor
All hotel staff were super friendly, helpful and happy. Rooms were clean and comfortable. A good place to enjoy a brief stay and is was well situated.
Great staff but the hotel had dated fixtures and fittings. Could be fabulous with an update.
Excellent location, helpful staff, clean, free parking. The breakfast was excellent with high quality, fresh food. Some of the best bacon I have ever eaten. Beautiful local walks, these should be promoted more by the hotel than they are. They provided us with written route local walks, (these need to be updated as they are no longer 100% accurate as apparently they were written some time ago) but we feel this would improve the customer experience a lot as the walks are of various levels and all that we did were beautiful. I think we will go back there if the prices are good.
The rooms are a bit dated, no fridge in fact there is wasted storage where a fridge used to be and they have just boarded it up and painted it in line with the colour scheme. No kettle or tea making provided in the room
Nice breakfast
Maybe better selection on the menu
It’s has good ambience and quit place and also good for relaxing
Maybe it’s better if there something excitement to watch like entertainment like dancing and singing.
Excellent staff, fabulous food with good sized portions. Sarah at riverside restaurant was friendly, professional and knew the menu. There was sufficient free parking at site.
The room 308 is good only as a storeroom. The whole view from the window was the old slate roof. The bedside lamps didn't work and the room was dimly lit. In the heat of summer with no AC or fan and we were scared to open the window with the risk of rats entering off the roof. Spent the night as in a sauna.
Location is lovely. Riverside outside bar area is lovely.
Could not get anything to eat in either restaurant even though we were residents and asked at check-in. Nowhere else in the vicinity to eat so had to get taxis to another village. Also the place is starting to look tired and needs a refurb. I don't expect to pay £200 a night to have to stand in a bath to take a shower! I also expect to be able to plug my phone in beside the bed. Just all outdated now.
In a lovely position, perfect for what we required
As above. Very relaxed environment. We had a family room which was very spacious. My only criticism would be was that our room needs more plug sockets around the bed spaces
Clean. Some staff very pleasant and friendly.
Service in restaurant and bar very slow. Spa area not staffed when we arrived and had to wait a while for towels. Some areas looking tired and need reviving. No decaf tea in room or dining-room.
Good leisure facilities, friendly staff, breakfast was also good.

NOTHING
River view room fantastic Hotel staff polite and friendly. Nice location Good value for money.
Lokalizacja -personel - basen - wielkość pokoju
Room was comfy. Swimming pool was nicr views from outside were lovely
The room was dated lack of choice of food in the restaurant and at breakfast breakfast lay out was terrible bits in the swimming pool were broken eg hand rail in jacuzzi sept at top of jacuzzi uneven picnic table outside were damaged
Le personnel est adorable. Nous avons eu un souci et ils ont tout fait pour régler notre problème. Vraiment un grand merci pour votre aide et votre extrême gentillesse.
Location and dining experience
Chef called in sick and dinner was extremely slow. Room was tired
Loved our stay, clean and comfortable room, lovely spa and fantastic restaurant and staff.
Hi , I would really appreciate all of the services and amenities. We are a group of 8 adults everyone enjoyed rooms and facilities. Pool was very clean, and there was one guy I forgot his name he was managing the pool section. He was explained everything and he was very approachable person. Breakfast was nice enjoyed it. Parking was spacious. And very calm and quiet area. Thank you.
Nothing everything was great
The Hotel quirkyness The river viee
The hot weather The main meal very limited choice. Breakfast look good but the choice was poor
Lovely location - great facilities to use during your stay too. Unfortunately didn't try the dining or breakfast, but with breakfast included and access to leisure centre great value!
Beautiful hotel in a stunning location. The reception staff were the best!
It absolutely wasn’t a make or break, but it would’ve been nice to have a fridge in our room…again, it wasn’t a big deal though.
The location is beautiful
The food was very poor, the service was questionable, the decor is in need of an update.
Location
Costly food. Poor restocking of tea and milk in the room.
Nice place, good value, nice location
Bar prices are quite expensive
Lovely location
Room was adequate but small
Breakfast had a good selection of food. Double aspect room was nice & bed was comfortable. Pool was nice- great to have a jacuzzi. Roast dinner was nice.
The bedroom lighting wasn’t great- one bedside light didn’t work so difficult when getting up in the night. No mobile phone charging point.
Een mooie ruime kamer en een goed bed
Niets
Location very good Beautiful area to explore Staff were nice
The corridor leading to what I assume was all the dog rooms was smelly. Felt we were given a rubbish room because we had a dog. Don’t know why they charge an extra £10 a night for the dog. They don’t provide anything for them. Had a view of the car park which was really rubbish. Came in a heat wave and the towel rail was on full blast. We turned it off. No fan or air con (glad I bought mine from home) room very small and dated. Breakfast the first morning was nice. The second morning there was nothing left and had to wait a while. Was a bit pricey for what we got overall. Wouldn’t stay again which is a shame.
Loved the location
Shower was not very strong
Location is really good, nice and quiet. breakfast was fab, plenty to choose from hot and cold help yourself. Room was comfortable and clean if a little dated. Reception staff were friendly. Complimentary toiletries and tea and coffee although never enough milk supplied but that seems the norm with most hotels.
Restaurant was fully booked so couldn't have evening meal. Website stated that food was available to order at the bar but we were told at check in that they weren't serving food. We went to see a show in Bowness and got back to the hotel around 10pm and decided to have a drink in the bar, we asked for 2 single gin and tonics which were mostly tonic, could hardly taste the gin. We also felt quite rushed to leave the bar as it was quiet when we arrived and the few people who were there left about half an hour after we arrived.
Spacious, quiet room. Comfy bed. Breakfast was ok.
The room is a little dated and the bathroom could do with a really good clean and probably refurbishment.
Beautiful location, kept the charm of the place with the upkeep of old buildings.
We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The location was beautiful, with stunning views and easy access to the nearby mountains and river, making it the perfect place to relax and explore. The breakfast was delicious with a great selection, and the staff were incredibly welcoming, friendly, and attentive throughout our stay. We really enjoyed our time here and would happily recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful and scenic getaway.
The furniture is quite old and could benefit from some updating. The property could also have been cleaner, but overall it didn't take away from our enjoyable stay.
The area was beautiful, it was far out but close enough to get to some areas by car, the bed was comfy, the staff were lovely- friendly- and accommodating, the pool was very nice,
The breakfast was a little lacking and the bacon/ sausages weren't the best quality but it was a buffet style so that could be down to how it was served, other than that there was nothing wrong with the place.
A beautiful stone built hotel alongside a lovely river.
The hotel was a little tired looking. Pillows weren’t the most comfortable and the bathroom although clean was quite old.
good meals
Location was beautiful and excellent for stop over
Lifts not working on our visit but managed
Buffet brekkie, constantly replenished, and wide variety of hot and cold, continental, fruit & cereal. Friendly staff, beautifully garden next to the gushing river. A perfect stopover hotel, or base for walkers as its close to the end of Lake Windermere. We didn't use the space facilities, but its hood they're available.
Great location and good parking
Wifi wasn't consistent
Location is beautiful and easy to get to other parts of the lakes if needed. Spoilt by noise from main route A590 being so close. Food was excellent, very tasty and plentiful.
No air conditioning, rooms dated, building outside need a bit of tlc.
Hotel was very well situated to use as a base for the Lake District. The breakfasts were really good, and the staff were very friendly, situated next door to a Motor museum which was excellent
Staff welcoming & helpful
Hotel is looking tired
Staff, food and room excellent
Dolly Blue closed most of the time and a lack buzz in social areas
Location and staff
Slightly tired
Location and friendly staff
Room was tired and really small, shower didn’t work well and breakfast wasn’t a great experience, food was okay but lots of flies and dirty plates and cups.
Helpfull Staff
The location was amazing, loved the river and the facilities
The bed was a little too soft for one of us but we still had a great night sleep
Location
Room allocated tired looking, view of a wall, issues with the cleanliness of the room. We were offered a 25%refund on our room price which we hope you have been notified of.
Very nice location, just south of Lake Windermere, easy to get round local attractions. Very good breakfast, and very good pool.
Nothing
Location
Bit dated /poor WiFi connectivity
It was a lovely and relaxing the staff were all lovely kind and helpful. Dinner was excellent breakfast too. Hotel beautiful with the river running along the side.
Hotel and swimming pool was great aswel as the food
THE VIEWS
NOTHING TO COMPLAIN ABOUT
Quiet location. Leisure centre, pool spa, sauna. Large room and comfortable bed. Breakfast in the morning was great.
The spa could have been a little hotter.
Location
Decor was very dated, tired and dimly lit. Staff at the main desk unhelpful when we asked to change rooms
Scenic location, big car park, helpful staff and clean.
The spa area needed quite allot of repairs. Such as loose taps, missing pool grates.
Breakfast was excellent. The location is fine even without a car as it’s near a bus stop. There are lovely river views from the spa and restaurant.
The spa closes at 8:15 pm not 9 pm as stated in the brochure in the bedroom so I went too late for a swim on the first night. Apparently the room info will be updated soon!
Great location, lovely spa facilities, comfy bed.
It does need an uplift now
First visit to the Lakes area - I booked The Whitewater for the location and thought it would be a great experience-
We arrived late due to a bad accident on the highway which closed it off all day so had to find alternate routes, when we arrived at 4.45 we tried to book for dinner after showering and changing into something to wear for dinner. We were told they had a big group in that night and they were fully booked. The last thing we wanted was to have to drive back into town for dinner so we just went to the room. We decided to have room service - when I rang about 7 to order room service we were told they were too busy to bring up room service so we had no dinner. There was no refrigerator in the room. About 9pm when getting ready for bed I realised there was no power plug near the bed for my medical machine so I rang downstairs to ask for an extension cord which took an hour to arrive ( I’ll bring it up when I have time is what I was told) When I rang asking again for the cord they brought it up - I had been waiting an hour to go to bed)
The staff at the hotel were all very helpful .Hotel is in a prime location on the river bank .

Breakfast ok
Fresh tea
Great locality, nice bar area, good spa.
Noise from road
Beautiful location. Leisure and restaurant staff very helpful. WiFi good.
No fridges in rooms. Lots of insects in dining room.
Lounge bar and restaurant. Location by the river.
Spider webs in bathroom window
Scenery and Spa
Every thing was outdated uncomfortable bed mattresses spring was poking and sunken and uneven. Room was full of cobwebs and dust particles.
Staff were friendly Out bike was put somewhere safe and dry Location
We requested a meal in the evening six days before our stay. I never got a reply and had to chase it up. When we arrived we were told no table was available until 8.30pm (too late). In the end we got bar food when we wanted it. But it was not a good experience. Paying for breakfast and then being told that certain items cost more (pancakes etc) was very poor and left a bad taste.
Amazing location. Everything you need for a relaxing stay away close by. Staff were lovely and very helpful throughout our stay. Nice indoor pool facilities. Amazing food in the restaurant in the evenings. Short walk from a cafe and motor museum.
Nothing it was great
Very large hotel, lovely and clean. Staff very friendly. Food excellent. Spa facilities very good. Good value for money. Will definitely go back.

Okay I was phoned to inform me of a wedding, expecting it to be noisy Saturday night. Friday was very loud, Saturday was fine but I knew from Friday the noise would be awful, if it was loud, as the room I was in was very loud Friday night from the car park. The room was lovely and would have been a really good stay if it had a hairdryer and it would have been fine if fixed on the Saturday. My report was ignored even though the staff member wrote it down on a post it note and stuck it on the computer screen. Overall staff were pleasant but not responding to requests that were advertised was not okay.
The room was supposed to have a hairdryer, it was wet and cold weather. The hairdryer didn’t work, I reported it and was told it would be sorted. On return checked hairdryer still not working. Went down to report again and was told there were no spares and all the rooms were in use so the next morning I had to leave again in wet cool weather with wet hair. Finally third night it was sorted by the member of staff I reported it to the second night.
