Great location, nice hotel with good facilities Reception staff were good good, helpful, friendly which makes a big difference

Lovely position on Windermere
Staff didn’t seem very happy. Not very attentive other than reception who were good.
Very impressed with the Brasserie Early Dining option. The food, staff and value for money were all excellent. Breakfast taken in the conservatory was very enjoyable with the added attraction of the view over the "lake".
We were less impressed with the lack of any bathrobes in the room. As we wanted to go for a swim, we went to reception and were informed that due to guests stealing towels, they were no longer left in the rooms and they would deliver some to our room, which they were. The Spa and pool looked great but the "hot tub" was colder than the pool and only stayed on for a minute. The gents changing room was flooded. There was no mention of nature’s pool, which I would have liked to try
Location, feel and service.

Hotel location, staff welcoming and support Great manager, who made us very special and surprised us with huge kindness

Excellent location, service and atmosphere. Really nice comfortable feel.
Everything was a high standard
Location was great for what we originally wanted. Breakfast was good. The main areas of the hotel were nice, the grounds and lakeside location were lovely.
Courtyard room overlooked what can only be described as a service area, room was too hot so we had to have the window open (it wasn’t warm outside), which then made the noise from bottle bins being emptied, staff talking, pots pans cutlery etc even louder! Beds weren’t comfy either - two of the worst nights sleep! I probably wouldn’t have been so bothered but it’s not like this room was cheap at almost £500 for two nights! And that’s before food and drinks!
Location was great. The building itself is nicely decorated and has areas to sit in and take in the view.
Their advertising works but sadly the experience doesn’t match what they promote.
I liked the pool are, very nice.
Food, my wife had a chicken burger, and it came out red/pink in the middle undercooked. Which was very troubling because my wife is pregnant this of course worried us as she had already eaten some of the burger before realising.
Breakfast was included and was fine. Room was okay but signs of age & wear. Staff were helpful & pleasant. Ate in the main restaurant on the 2nd night which was enjoyable but a bit expensive. Waiting staff were excellent though & very attentive. Pool was okay but see below. Also, we left some clothing in our room when we left. Sarah from customer services rang us but we were an hour away by then so she arranged for the items to be mailed to us which was good of her.
On the first night we tried the Brassiere which was poor. Very slow service & the food was expensive for what was made available. Had to ask 3 times for the desert menu before we got it . Portions were generally small for the price. Ate in the main restaurant the following night which was more enjoyable but again, quite expensive for the portions. Spent time in the pool but its clear that some parents don't observe the times when the children are allowed in. Some of us just wanted to wind down with a quiet swim so went in at a time when children were not allowed but there several children present well after the allocated time and all taking up a bed each at the pool side which meant that there were none available. Also parents taking mobile phone photos, possibly video in the pool area which puts the hotel in a vulnerable position generally if the photos / footage were uploaded onto social media & included children whose parents had not consented & also adults. Suggest the hotel allocate a supervisor in the pool area in future. One real annoyance was the lack of disabled parking as I have mobility issues. On our first night I had to park right down the far end of the car park which meant an uncomfortable walk back.
Location and outlook excellent. Breakfast fantastic. Bed very comfortable.
Tv in room dated. Stairs to room 404 very tiring to get to especially when carrying luggage. Light from stairwell top brighy overnight and light could be seen under door which then could be seen in the room overnight. Movement sensor to activate this light would sort problem
There wasn’t enough good gluten free options. They should have had gluten free granola and gluten free homemade bread. Freshly squeezed orange juice would be better and cafetières of fresh coffee

Lovely big room and comfortable bed. Staff were great and breakfast was delicious. Use of the pool and sauna was lovely also.
Plenty of places to relax and enjoy. Perfect scenery, with a nice pool.
Sauna & steam room could do with better lighting. It looked closed.
From check-in to checkout excellent hospitality, helpful staff, always courteous with a smile. Well maintained gardens of flower beds and mature oak trees, with views of Windermere and to wander down to lakeshore. Swimming in their 17m pool with views of Fellfoot, sauna & steam room added to our luxury overnight stay. Superb menu choice for breakfast, providing different areas for eating- we chose the conservatory for quietness, natural light and views to Windermere. Well maintained rooms. A most wonderful & memorable stay- Thankyou to the well trained staff team. Rosemary& Andrew H. N.Cumbria.
We found our room (2nd floor) too warm in the night, but managed to open the bottom window. Didn't like the changing colours of lights in the bathroom.
Such a lovely location. Lovely staff. Super breakfast.
All great!
Excellent position Bit Rambling Numbering bit eccentric
Lack of signage
Fabulous lakeside location
Main restaurant wasn’t open in the evening
From check-in where Suzanne greeted us with smiles, good chat and our spa robes right through to all waiting staff, the facilities, spa staff, the warmth of the place and that everything seemed recently refurbished, we really enjoyed ourselves. Breakfast also really good.

Location was exceptional, staff were amazing breakfast was fabulous. Little extra touches that made the stay brilliant. Even with the fire alarm going off in the middle of the night it was an amazing stay

Great spa , great location , superb breakfast. Staff were friendly and attentive and the view out to the lake was superb .
Room, although big and spacious , was a little dated and not a single hook to hang towels or bathrobes on. Conservatory furniture and carpet need refreshing. Bar food and drink was expensive.

Really lovely hotel. Beautiful view from our room and staff were very friendly and attentive. Food was great and choice of two restaurants . Would highly recommend as a nice place to stay and enjoy the lakes.
Bar prices a little high but not unusual for hotels these days
Loved the room, the view, the staff, and the location.

breakfast was ok room was warm very dated no clean
the room was warm very dirty and dated not very good
Beautiful hotel in amazing surroundings. We had a free upgrade to a lake view room which was stunning. The staff were all very friendly and helpful.
There was nothing we didn't like.
all good , choice of restaurant , plenty of area to sit down and relax, good choice of food from casual to more formal dining. good pool spa area. Room was spacious and comfortable with a good big bed . Location beside the lake where you could enjoy various boat trips .
no big deal but one had to park further away from the property after 10.30am without charge.

The swimming pool was lovely and the gym was well equipped for its size
The room was very tired, paint peeling off the walls. Our shower barely worked and the towels were old and scratchy.
Room was nice, clean and spacious. staff were friendly and helpful. The spa and pool were good and the outside areas were pleasant.
The hotel is an old building - which is part of its charm however because of the very hot weather at the time of our visit, the temperature in our room could not be regulated due to the lack of air conditioning. this made it almost impossible to sleep. at night. The bars and restaurants were quite pricey on top of the fairly high room only rate, Some of the on-line hotel information seems to suggest that breakfast is included in the room rate but it is an extra cost and quite expensive.
Staff lovely
Couldn’t open window in room and it was a very hot night.
What a location, and beautifully kept! A fantastic place to stay, staff fantastic.
Location and staff
Food was very expensive with a very limited menu for occasional food such as pizza . Swimming pool should be open till 21.30 hrs , this would give a great facility after a day of sightseeing. Last sitting for food at 20.45 breaks the evening programme.
Absolutely amazing little trip was had, the staff very competent, friendly, helpful and just great! Loved every minute, except the leaving part of the trip!
A longer stay would have been better, one night wasn't enough...
Everything from location to staff the cleanliness and what an amazing experience

Everything was perfect , highly recommend
I love the waterside location and the fact the boats for hire are onsite. The breakfast was really good - even a full vegan option. The pool area is lovely!
We were located near the door for the spa on the first floor. It’s not fitted properly and bangs so loud on each close. If you are resting during the day, you can hear it continuously. I think the staff use it for access from very early in the morning too. Either that, or there were children up at 6am using it literally every minute.
Beautiful location, excellent service, beautiful room , friendly staff, wonderful food and a perfect place to relax and unwind.
Nothing
Amazing location and great view on the lake
No air conditioning, the room did not have any sort of hotel amenities except all in one shampoo and soap and towels, no tooth brush no slippers no normal tissue in the room. The staff were not kind or helpful. They were not rude but they were not friendly either and not helpful at all. I requested information to travel to London and they suggested i phone the taxi myself instead of booking it for me like all other hotels i stayed it. Also the alarm went off when we were sleeping one night and we were so frightened and came running downstairs and the staff had no clue what was the cause and did not explain to us later on and we were panicking without any one to reassure us everything is okay.
Beautiful lake view suite room with so much space for a family of 4. The hotel is in an excellent location.
Location is everything. Great clean tidy room with attentive staff.
We didn’t have any issues.
Good
More expensive than was expected for presentation of hotel. Rather dated decor
Lovely view. 2 chairs in the room. Excellent breakfast with good choices. Evening meal was disappointing.
Extractor fan was faulty and noisy. The steam room in spa was unserviceable and closed.
We could not fault anything about Lakeside. It was a last minute decision to go after several difficult months. The hotel was wonderful! Staff were so welcoming and helpful, the location was perfect. Our room overlooked the Windermere, was extremely comfortable, roomy and immaculate. Every evening we ended the day sitting on the edge of Windermere watching the wild birds, listening to the wonderful silence with a glass of wine - perfection. The food was excellent - in particular breakfast, with so much choice, both hot and cold and cooked to perfection. it was just perfect - thank you.
Our visit and the hotel could not have been improved upon - it was a perfect few days and we loved it all!
Such a restful and beautiful space to stay. Staff are welcoming and friendly, bistro is excellent and breakfast is great.

Brilliant spot by the lake
I love this hotel and it's a beautiful, peaceful location. The breakfast and service was wonderful. The staff are also very accommodating and lovely. The pool & spa facilities are brilliant, and the gardens and outdoor bar/seating area is perfect. Overall, it is a very clean, comfortable, tidy hotel. I love it here!
Unfortunately, this time, I was put into a room that hadn't had it's make over and been updated yet. It was clean with a beautiful lake view but now I have extended my stay and changed to a modern room. The updated rooms are stunning! The only problem we had was the child's fold out bed. The mattress was very thin and uncomfortable on it. We mentioned it to the staff, and they offered to change it and even move us to a room with a sofa bed instead. We asked for another mattress to double it up in the end so we could keep the lake view in the room. We then extended our stay and moved to a modern junior suite, and it was absolutely perfect!

Everything to like.
The tranquility of the location. Friendly staff. We had a room overlooking the lake which had been beautifully refurbished to a high standard, as was the bathroom. It was lovely to have a bath which also had an overhead shower. Nice also to have a Spa and a large pool, jacuzzi and sauna. Everything there was top class with beautifully landscaped gardens.
For the standard of the room a dressing gown and slippers would have been very useful for going to the pool. The key to the lockers in the changing room (by the pool) had no wrist attachment so nowhere to secure it when in the pool.
Great location. Staff were great.
Rather overpriced. The room was average, no A/C so very stuffy. Had an expensive very average meal. Spa had run out of water and cups at the pool.
The view, spa facilities.
The location of the room, the noise in the morning was terrible, the clattering of staff banging doors, moving dishes and cutlery right beneath our window from 6am onwards throughout the morning was constant. We had windows closed and were woken on numerous occasions by the noise. I rang ahead and asked to book the last reservation on the lunch menu, I was told this was 4pm, we arrived and other customers were eating from said menu. I checked the menu and last time was 4.30, although we were told 4pm. We arrived at 4.10 so could have chose from the lunch menu if we were told the correct time. We then booked into the brasserie as fine dining was the only other option. The food portion in the restaurant was tiny, my partner paid over £20 for hunters chicken, the chicken breast was tiny and he was served two boiled potato's cut in half as a side. The portion was terrible for the price, the staff in the brasserie never asked us if we needed anything, if the meal was ok or to check on us as you would expect. There was only 2 vegetarian options on the full menu, gnocchi and bean burger,if you were gluten intolerant you wouldn't have had anything to eat. As a vegetarian of over 20 years, if this is the only menu available then more options need to be available to choose from as choosing between 2 options for a meal we considered to be a treat was not acceptable. We have stayed at the hotel 3 times now and have had positive experiences and made happy memories here in the last year, however the stay this weekend was disappointing and overall a let down, we paid over £200 to stay and have left feeling disappointed and ripped off due to 2 vegeterian choices and the portion size in the restaurant and not well rested after constantly being woken by loud staff moving in and out banging doors and shouting to one another from as early as 6am. Disappointing and upsetting.
Excellent view
The spa facilities were poor and limited and the steam room was not working
The location & facilities

Love the location, just right next to Lake Windermere. It has very beautiful landscape and having a meal outside facing the lake was wonderful. The room was comfortable big enough space for 2 pax.
As it’s summer, it’d be nice if we could open the windows - the advice was not to, as there’d be crawly bugs getting into the room via the windows. Perhaps the hotel can put up insect screen on the windows in the future. Glad there was a small fan provided.
The location is brilliant. Gorgeous views and very tranquil and serene. I loved that you could walk from the pool down to the lake, and that after asking I was given a robe to wear. The bedroom was a good size and I slept well.
The swimming pool was uncomfortably hot. It was more like a bath and very off putting. Both of the water dispensers in the spa area had no water. No fridges in the bedrooms either so the combination wasn't great on a hot day. Bathroom was looking quite worn. Brown stains all over the towel rail. Felt more like a paint issue that cleanliness. But still a bit ick!
The location is fantastic , the room lovely and comfortable with stunning views.
Where you eat breakfast is poorly laid out and if you go when it’s hot be prepared to bake while you eat,the food is average . We were so disappointed with them closing the spa with no warning ie letter under the door or email. Apparently private event and when you book a hotel because you want a spa after a long walk this is really disappointing
Good clean hotel , staff very attentive. Brilliant location to keep you busy . Good selection of menu to please everyone

My room overlooking the lake
The evening meals were just ok. They were expensive but the lovely waiter was very nice on tues night. He made up for it. Quite small portions .particulary the ice cream
Breakfast was good.
Evening meal in the bistro could have been better
View was great. Rooms modern and clean. Staff friendly. Parking on site
Kids pool times hugely restricted. Not much around to do or places to eat so restricted to the hotel, no local shops. Food was good at the hotel though
Lovely hotel in perfect location with excellent breakfast.
Location is absolutely fabulous.
Arrived and checked in by two very pleasant staff members. The room appeared to have been recently decorated, but strangely had triple glazing to the widows that had been made opaque / frosted. I should add it was 32 degrees, so I immediately opened the windows, only to be greeted by a very loud industrial sound, which I now believe was something to do with the pool extraction. Went downstairs to same friendly reception staff and they offered me another room on the third floor. Sadly, this one was very dated and looked out over a staff corridor. The carpets were stained and the desk / table had hair straightener burns on it. Both rooms were unbearably hot, with no air con. A fridge would have been nice to keep the bottles of hot complimentary water in. The food is the real problem area for this hotel. Extremely expensive and very mediocre, I sent back my medium, rare steak, as it was literally still raw. I think the kitchen houses a cook, rather than a chef, as other meals were equally ‘brewers fayre / 2-4-1 style.
Breakfast great , location perfect
Beds waaaaay tooo soft
Stayed for 2 nights, beautiful location Staff really nice and helpful
No immediate parking close to the hotel. Ordered 2 bottles of cider when we got there, they cost £14.50 , ouch Got to the room it was unbelievably hot in there due to the weather, a very small fan was provided which barely did anything at all. Had to keep the door open in order to try and cool the room down. Room really needs updating, not the cleanest . Very small TV with just basic channels which was on a cabinet in the far side of the room, not ideal for viewing. Food average, paid £74.00 for 2 burgers with sweet potato fries and 2 bottles of cider. If you're paying that much then you would expect a little bit of salad with it, but that was £ 5.50 extra. It's a beautiful place but let down in too many areas.
The room was very good with a clear view of the lake. A good place to sit in the evening with a drink and watch boats on the water. Breakfast was well presented and filling in a clean airy dining area. We got an excellent parking spot (limited number of these) directly adjacent to the hotel rather than more extensive but distant parking spots the hotel offers.
The evening staff in the restaurant were a bit off (it may have been how busy they were or the heat (summer 2026 heatwave)). Steak needed to be sent back to be cooked a bit longer (too rare) but better that than overdone.
Breakfast was very good, We new the location before we booked, was just what we wantedW
It looks and feels fantastic, comfortable and luxurious. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. The staff in the brasserie and in the breakfast room were very good.
It wasn’t clear where to park until we spoke to reception staff. The room was very hot (heatwave) but fan in the room didn’t make much difference
The view from the lakeside were amazing, and the staff were proffesional and helpful.
Fantastic location, lovely staff, comfortable relaxed atmosphere inside and out.
Could do with a refresh, painting etc. Lakeside restaurant not open while we were there (start of July). Breakfast could be included with superior rooms.
Beautiful location, amazing food
Too much chlorine in jacuzzi and spa facilities dated
Spacious room, comfy beds, good bathroom, view of the lake.
A very small piece of haddock was served up for breakfast.
Good location, peaceful and friendly staff.
There was nothing that I could complain about.
Beautiful lakeside location, very welcoming staff, lovely big room with very comfortable bed. Spotlessly clean hotel and facilities.
The staff and attentiveness was A1 will certainly return in the future.
the room ventilation, even though weather wasn't that hot the room was over warm for us. There was a fan in the room but was a little noise when leaving on at night.
Although we had a problem with our room the first night, this was resolved by upgrading our room and giving a reduction to the bill. Excellent customer service. Very good location for a relaxing break. Hotel comfortable and clean and staff delightful.
The room we were in the first night was noisey due kitchen extractor fan being outside the window and being on most of the night. It was heatwave conditions and could not have window open.
Lovely location, very comfy seating areas, beautiful view from our bedroom window over the lake
A long walk to our room, portion sizes were small (expensive!) and not the best value for money in the brassiere and for breakfast.
Wonderful, comfortable and well maintained especially the old architecture, stain glass windows and old traditional artefacts everywhere! The FOOD!!! Oh my days! It is soooo tasty! Worth every penny!
Stairs and room access is a bit tough especially if you are on a higher room but that can’t be helped! So no complaints to be honest!
Friendly and atentive staff, great pool area, lovely location, really enjoyed would go again.
Great atmosphere and location. Lovely breakfast
Love the renovated rooms, staff friendly and helpful
Na
Brilliant location and amenities.. only thing we found short was air conditioning in the room.. brilliant stay though thank you
Location Lakeside
Location and property itself were fantastic
Only thing was the showers took so long to heat up
Location right on lakeside. Plenty discounted/free parking. Lake boat trips next door and aquarium. Ducks on lakeshore. Plenty outside and conservatory seating.
Shame really our room (ok we booked few days before arrival) was bit small and no view but as we spent most the lighter hours in conservatory wasn’t a biggie.
Nice location and really friendly staff! Amazing food at dinner
The rooms were too warm following the heatwave even though little fans were provided. Additionally, could hear loud noises coming from the kitchen in the early morning since had to keep the window open to cool down.
Fantastic hotel with large bar and conservatory. Very nice having a wine outside next to the lake in the summer heatwave. Pool is large and a luxury. It was too warm to swim but ideal after a day walking. Great range of beers in the bar. Staff were very friendly
We were their during the heatwave and the room was very hot. However, once I realised the towel rail was on high it did allow the room to become bearable. In normal times room would have been fine
Great breakfast
This is a fantastic stay right on the shores of Lake Windermere. Plenty to do locally and easily accessible for the wider Lake district. The hotel is a traditional but modernised place with it's own pub, outdoor bar, outdoor seating and orangery/conservatory. Staff were great throughout, plenty of them around, always asked if there was anything they could help with. All very professional but friendly as well. Spa facilities and pools +Jacuzzi +Steam room +Sauna all accessible at no extra cost for residents. You do need to book and pay if you want a treatment/massage but general access was included. Good breakfast options cooked from the menu as well as buffet. Good restaurant and lots of other local options to be had as well.
The only thing that would have made a difference for us would be to have Air-con in the rooms, although as I said above it is an old building and I'm not sure if they'd even be allowed to do this. I would also point out it was mid heat-wave when we there and they did put out fans in the rooms and the conservatory etc. to do the best they could in 32+ degree heat which is pretty much unheard of in this area.
