Value for money and had parking
Nothing we didn’t like
Handy location, friendly. Good vakue
Amazing stay customer service amazing highly recommend
free breakfast. friendly guy at the til, and a quiet spot. room has nice amenities and tv has netflix, youtube, etc.. which is a nie touch. free coffee and tea as well which is nice.
rotherham is a dead town. strangely eerie, we went out on a saturday night and it was absolutely crickets. dont recommend this location for a stay whatsoever
Loved the actual building and the style of the hotel, it was done out very nicely and you could tell that they had spent money on it. The breakfast was the best breakfast we have ever had in a hotel. Cooked really nice and served up lovely and hot as it was cooked to order. Also the bar area/outside is lovely just to relax in.
In the room it self it just needed a few extra things to make it more usable like by the TV instead of a picture on the wall above it would of been useful to have a mirror above it to do my hair and makeup inside I had to keep going over to the lovely full big mirror over on the wall by the bathroom door which was a bit of a pain. Also in the bathroom you could do with a few more shelves to put your toiletries on as there was no room for two lots so took in the bathroom when needed and had to place it on the top of the very small shelf that is already there. Other than that we really enjoyed our stay
Breakfast amazing noisy couple upstairs very load.location brilliant
Breakfast amazing.soft music in restaurant lovely very good spot
Staff friendly, room fine and facilities good.
A lot of noise outside the hotel. People fighting right outside.
I recently stayed at The George Wright in Rotherham, and I honestly couldn’t fault the experience. From the moment I arrived, I was made to feel incredibly welcome by the staff, who were friendly, polite and genuinely interested in making sure I was having a good stay. The staff deserve a particular mention. Every time I walked through the door after being out for the day, they would ask how I was, how my day had been and whether everything was okay. That level of personal service really stood out to me. It didn’t feel like they were simply doing their jobs — they genuinely seemed to care about their guests and wanted everyone to feel comfortable. The hotel itself has a lovely atmosphere, combining character with modern comforts. My room was spacious, comfortable and beautifully presented, making it a really pleasant place to come back to after a long day. The bed was particularly comfortable, and everything I needed for a relaxing stay was there. The location is also very convenient for exploring Rotherham and the surrounding area. It’s ideal if you want somewhere central where you can easily get out and about but still return to a comfortable hotel afterwards. One thing I especially appreciated was how approachable the staff were. Nothing ever felt like too much trouble, and whenever I needed anything, they were happy to help. And, of course, I have to give a special shout-out to the staff for somehow managing to remain incredibly polite despite seeing me arrive back at the hotel drunk every day. 😂🍻 They deserve a medal for that alone! Overall, I had a fantastic stay at The George Wright. The combination of a lovely hotel, comfortable rooms, a great atmosphere and — most importantly — genuinely wonderful staff made the experience so enjoyable. I would absolutely stay here again and would happily recommend The George Wright to anyone looking for somewhere comfortable, welcoming and well located in Rotherham. 5/5 without hesitation.
Very close to the Centre of Town, but very quiet too
Can't think of anything
I did not eat breakfast. I checked out 3 days early
On entry, staff were very rude. Made the vibe of the hotel very uncomfortable. On entry to the room, what can i say. I think AI must have created the pictures on booking.com. The room was awful!! Boutique hotel?? Yeah right!! Filthy!!!! Wall paper hanging off the wall, furniture looked like it had been pulled out a skip, tv didn’t work, the bed sheets looked like a plasterers radio!! Stained and soiled! I booked for 4 nights and if it wasn’t so late on my first check in i would have left then! I proceeded to check out first thing.
Location and friendliness
Breakfast was served without a choice ,there was lots but i dont eat navon or sausage . Had cereal and toast options and yogurt
It has potential to be a lovely hotel
It’s very unloved and the quality is poor the sink is cracked the mattress is terrible and has seen better days I reported the duvet which was cheap and filthy nothing was done
Location
Disappointed
Quietness
Very hot, we were given a fan but it didn’t make much difference. Tv didn’t work properly and the bed was uncomfortable
Location.
Firstly I don't normally do bad reviews. But on this occasion I feel I must to stop people being as disappointed as we were. The hotel advertised a restaurant but not service. Staff didn't understand English very well at all. Probably the worst bed we have ever tried to sleep in. Very noisy banging doors Gates and barking dog. Also machinery droning. The Shower ensuite was disgusting we didn't use it for fear of catching something Grout missing mould and filthy. Large cracks in basin. Rusty fittings. We Use booking.com all the time UK and Europe. This is the worst hotel we've had in all the years of using booking.com. They need an inspection ASAP. The hotel has so much potential and at some point had money spent on it. Total lack of Maintenance for many years.
Good location on terms of being near the town center, size of the room was nice.
I felt that the bed sheets had not been properly cleaned after the last visitor I found a lot of long hairs in the bed. The only other negative would be the cleaning standards of the cutlery, glasses and plates at breakfast.
The rooms were very modern the staff were very friendly and the breakfast was very tasty.
Nothing it was a great stay
Friendly staff
Room too small even though paid for deluxe. Room unbearably hot. Full English was greasy. Pastries weren't fresh. Towels were worn and thin. Needs some money investing in it.
The owner was extremely kind and helpful! A big thanks to him to make our stay very nice
The accommodation was very good. Good breakfast, friendly staff, etc.
Comfortable room.
Staff need to improve customer service. Mould on bathroom ceiling in ensuite.
Location good
Blood stained sheets, dirty walls, small room with very small window so very hot.
In a good position.
Room was ok, but difficult to get back in after eating.
Not fit for purpose
Nice comfy bed. Spacious bathroom. Good choice for breakfast.
Room too hot. Window wouldn't open painted shut.. No toilet paper in bathroom. Fan was rubbish. In need of decorating to freshen up walls. Manager on arrival was not very polite or friendly. Beer tasted weak and watery. No ice for drinks. Long wait for cooked breakfast. Eggs overcooked.
A very good price for a last minute booking, private bathroom and in the centre of Rotherham. Great value to be honest.
Difficult to find the entrance and way aroubd, better signage would be helpful. Rooms were a little dated.
Friendly staff lovely building.
The bed was very uncomfortable need to upgrade mattresses also need black out curtains.
The breakfast was incredible.Hot plate also a bonus to keep your food hot.
a lot of rubbish/broken furniture etc dumped around the site.Hanging baskets/flowers would have made the place look amazing. Not a problem though just an observation
Central location with parking
Returning to the property via a fire exit was strange and disorienting, but clearly informed to us
It was fine despite some of the revues as I was a lone female traveller but everything turned out ok, didn’t have breakfast as was going to a retreat so cannot comment on food, bed comfy and room clean. There was a heat wave at the time but they had placed a large fan in the room which was appreciated
Bit hard to find as down a small side street but more sat nav fault but got there in the end
Owner was very nice, polite and helpful. He explained the parking charges & breakfast. The room was a nice size and there was a fan in the room due to the heatwave, there were complimentary toiletries, tea & coffee and a hairdryer in the room.
Bathroom was quite dirty with some questionable marks on the shower, wall, also the tiles were showing signs of mold. No curtains but there was a blind in the bedroom area, however it was very dusty, as was the back of the fan.
Nothing!!
Filthy and certainly not a deluxe king size room. Would describe more like a shoe box that has been in a swamp for week. Brings back memories of uni days and not one to be relived again. Left in the middle of the night. Grim
Nice big walk-in shower
Bed was crushed velvet and top of headboard had never seen a hoover or been dusted. Not really anywhere to sit comfortably in a bar area, deceptive when looking at the online pics
The staff were polite and the location was central.
This hotel it very tired. The shower needs to have the damp and grain removed and overhauled. The breakfast was below average. Arriving back to the hotel in the evening, we found it to be a place where the enclosed non lit stairs to the only available entrance was a place for cannabis smokers to meet. No staff available in the evening made this feel an unsavoury area.
Staff were lovely. Went out of their way to make our stay brilliant. Even set up a projector so guests could watch the England Match on Saturday. Beds were super comfy.
Room on small side but had everything we needed and great location.
Not alot!
Dusty, dirty, basically in the cellar which stank of poo. No window - was not made aware of this upon booking
Very nice staff, very good breakfast, spacious room and bathroom.
The quiet hours were from midnight till 6am, didn't hear much before midnight but got woken up by people from 6am. As I was waking up early already I wish I had been able to at least stay asleep until my alarm went off which was impossible.. Also no window in the room, a fan was left instead but yeah that was unusual
Location, price.Car park arrangements were spot on.
Toilet smelt like a drain from a sewer coming from the walk in shower.Damp.Fromt door shutting at 1030 pm then having to go down stairs at back of building in inadequately lit route then back up stairs to ground level which defeated the purpose of ground level room.
Excellent value for money, lovely friendly staff, we had room for 3 which was excellent for 3 adults.
Not much
It was unclean with broken furniture, mould and an unlocking door
People is very good
Very modern and well looked after
Nothing it was perfect
The reception staff were very polite and welcoming. We experienced a small issue when we first arrived, but it was resolved quickly and professionally by the team. The room was comfortable, clean and exactly as shown in the photos. The location is very convenient, yet the hotel remains quiet and peaceful, allowing for a good night’s sleep. Overall, we had a pleasant stay and would happily recommend this hotel to others. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
As a solo female I did not feel safe, particularly as was put in a room quite a few flights of stairs below the main floor, in a room in a dark corridor with no window and no proper safety lock. Also found pubic hair on the toilet seat which made me question how clean it was. Area surrounding was very derelict.
Great location, very quiet at night, clean and tidy.

The breakfast was amazing hot plenty to choose from server was polite
I didn't really think the beds were comfy but apart from that everything else was great
Central location and was quiet and clean
Very hot room with tiny window
amazing. lovely staff. 3rd time staying here now and can’t rate it high enough

Extremely disappointing stay. The room did not match the listing photos and the property was in poor condition, how can MOULD be tolerated these days.. and dust left in the room like never touched . Poor lightning just to cover all issues. Not Boutique at all.
Decor and calmness
Very hot
A warm, friendly welcome. Beautiful furnishings. Room very comfortable, slept like a log. Central location
Nothing
Well maintained, good location, easy to find
The rooms would benefit from a deep clean.
Very friendly and welcoming, lovely room, close to all local amenities and a lovely cooked breakfast
Location, clean, quiet
Proximity to city centre
Very comfortable and lovely staff
location
the fact they do not offer any cancellation refunds, so wouldn't book again
Excellent hotel. Great facilities
Nothing to dislike
Dirty and smelly rooms, everything felt dated. Dirty rooms and bathroom
Location was good
Plastic cover on mattress couldn't be removed and got red hot at 1.30am
The cooked breakfast was actually not too bad, a bit greasy. But the continental breakfast table was pretty poor. Fruit bowl was a few sorry looking apples. The OJ appeared to be fizzy....
The bed was too small, I had to sleep diagonally. I'm only 5foot9! The shower head was at shoulder heigt, so I had to duck down to have a shower. The room was absolutely freezing. I had to put an oil radiator and fan heater on to warm it up.
Nice decor
No window and ventilation in room Hard to find No restaurant Town is rundown and limited restaurants
A nice older building and very central
I was in a room where you couldn’t see out of the window
Helpful and friendly
The decor of the downstairs cafe which was closed.
We will start with the fact we booked the Presidential Suite. We were informed on arrival that it was not ready, the builder had taken too long to complete the work, therefore the images we had seen were not of the room. I did receive an email the day before informing us that there was a £5 per night parking charge but no mention of the lack of room. No discount for a standard family room but we were offered two draught drinks, but these were not taken as there were no staff at the empty bar. The general manager did say he would sort something but that hasn't happened. This was supposed to be a treat for my wife's birthday. The breakfast was mixed, nice bacon, hash brown and beans. The sausage was like those battered ones from a chip shop, there was a higher meat content in vegan sausages. The mushrooms were so over cooked there was a puddle of the black bitter liquid from them and the fried eggs yolk was so hard they were dry. Never been this disappointed in a place before.
Inside the hotel was clean
In photos of the property show and amazing front entrance , unfortunately the front was closed off and full of litter and mess , very disappointing. Even the light shade was full of dead fly's. My boy couldn't sleep due to the emergency light being so bright. Also glass bedside cabinet was broken and a child could cut themselves.
Unusual hotel , but comfortable. Only ever stay one night, so never eaten there
Room smelt of smoking
Room or coustomer service amazing
Very friendly and helpful staff.
The hotel was lovely, staff lovely and a fab breakfast
Nothing
Central location Clean Amazing staff

We stayed here for two nights. Loved it. The customer service here is very good I have also told my friends to book a trip there. It was beautiful place
Bathroom was good. Huge wet room shower
Room was advertised as king deluxe. Was a small bed. Internet was terrible so TV in room did not work.
All good thanks.
There wasn’t anything.
